I am technically under consultant as this is baby 6, but i was last time too and didnt have this 36 week app!

PeanutButterFalcon · 17/01/2021 19:57

@Luckyelephant1 we have had a covid worry this week too although not a positive in the end. The midwife sent me loads of advice through and said to take it careful but between 12-28 weeks we are no more at risk than anyone else and shouldn’t get worse symptoms than we would of before.
Hope you both remain well.

To everyone getting scans how many weeks are you? I haven’t had my appointment through yet and presumed I would by now

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 17/01/2021 20:10

Im 16 weeks, scan is at 20+3

strawberrycherryblossom · 18/01/2021 08:50

@Luckyelephant1 Thanks hope you are ok. Think it might vary by area but they scan here after Covid just to check all is ok. No reason to think it wouldn't be but I think it just helps their research. Can't hurt to let your midwife know.

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE if it's nothing to do with your individual circumstances, on a general level some trusts do 36 week scans to check the position of the baby to prevent undiagnosed breech babies which can lead to birth complications. You can read info on a study done here - https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.1002778 but the crux of it is, of the 3,879 women included in the study and scanned at 36 weeks, 179 had breech babies. The interesting point though is that of those 179, only 83 had been identified/suspected as breech based on midwife examination.

@PeanutButterFalcon I am 15+5 and my scan is booked for 19+2. I got the letter a few days after my 12 week scan.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 18/01/2021 09:11

@strawberrycherryblossom this is my sixth baby at the same hospital and i have never had a 36 week app! I do need to make a phone app this week with mw so will ask then!

strawberrycherryblossom · 18/01/2021 09:39

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE if it's a research thing women may be called at random. My friend also had a 36 week scan as she had a low lying placenta but I don't think that's picked up until your 20 week scan usually. Is your 16 week appointment by phone?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 18/01/2021 09:40

Yes my 16 week is phone, 20 week hospital, havent been given a 28 week app yet but told will be hospital

My 36 week app doesnt mention scan which my 20 week does

strawberrycherryblossom · 18/01/2021 09:54

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE it's so strange how it varies by area. My 16 week is in person, then 25, 28 etc. No phone appointments here.

Are you consultant led for any reason? Just trying to think what it could be!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 18/01/2021 09:59

Purely as its baby 6 so viewed as higher risk, was the same with baby 5 but no 36 week app!

PurpleCurtain · 18/01/2021 11:57

Hope everyone is doing okay! My sickness has come back with a vengeance last few days (am 15 and a half weeks) - anyone else? It almost stopped at 13 weeks and now seems to be back worse than ever, i.e. actually regularly vomitting whereas fortunately that was every few days previously. Hoping this doesn't mean it's here for good!

PeanutButterFalcon · 18/01/2021 18:45

Thank you @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE and @strawberrycherryblossom. I asked my midwife at my appointment today and she’s said the appointment won’t come through until 19 weeks so seems to be later in my area.

@PurpleCurtain my sickness died down until a week or so ago. Turned out I had a UTI which had made it come back. Could you get your urine checked? Although at the time my SIL had said hers came back after a few weeks for a little while and went again so hopefully it’ll go for you.

Is everyone still working? I’m having some troubles with my manager.

strawberrycherryblossom · 18/01/2021 18:56

@PeanutButterFalcon still working here. What issues are you having?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 18/01/2021 19:00

I'm on furlough for childcare reasons

PeanutButterFalcon · 18/01/2021 19:43

@strawberrycherryblossom how have you found your managers with the covid risks?
I could start a thread on it but condensed they’re putting me in situations my risk assessment says I shouldn’t be in and when I try to talk about it they just state HR said it’s fine

PurpleCurtain · 18/01/2021 19:51

@PeanutButterFalcon interesting, thanks - I have my midwife appt tomorrow so will be giving a sample then. Hope your manager troubles are resolvable.

And yes I am sadly still working, but glad to be wfh. Haven't properly told work yet, either - just had a promotion and new boss so I think I'm feeling a bit guilty though I know I shouldn't!

PurpleCurtain · 18/01/2021 19:54

@peanutbutterfalcon can you go direct to HR yourself? Know its not the same for me as risk assessment not really relevant when I wfh, but I have asked some questions to our HR direct and they were really helpful and told me I was within my rights to go direct.

PeanutButterFalcon · 18/01/2021 20:02

@PurpleCurtain hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.

I’ve contacted my union tonight so hopefully I’ll hear from them soon with some guidance on what I can do.

strawberrycherryblossom · 18/01/2021 20:14

@PeanutButterFalcon well my manager doesn't know yet but I've been sent the usual risk assessment by HR. I'm wfh though so no real Covid risk for me.

What kind of situations are you in that you shouldn't be?

PeanutButterFalcon · 18/01/2021 21:15

I work in healthcare and there’s some procedures we can’t do due to covid. I’m being left in situations where I’d have no other choice but to do them. Thankfully I haven’t needed to yet, but it will happen as it’s a common occurrence in my role.

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 19/01/2021 08:20

Just checking in on the post as have my midwife appointment today and for some reason I'm quite anxious about it. I think its because i don't really know what to expect. Has anyone else felt like that?
@PeanutButterFalcon I work in healthcare too and my boss has been nothing but supportive, if anything, they're being over cautious. Are you part of a small team? I'd probably ask for some advice from HR about what you're supposed to do when it goes against your risk assessment.

AliceinBunniland · 19/01/2021 08:38

@Luckyelephant1 How are you both today?

I felt a bit under the weather yesterday. Nothing I could put my finger on just a bit of stomach ache, a bit sick and tired as I hasn't slept...

@PeanutButterFalcon I am nearly 16 weeks and got my 12 week scan and 20 week scan appointments through together. I also have an 18 week scan appointment with consultant.

Is there anyone you could speak to about the risks at work? There was a thread about someone being put in risky situations while pregnant and she emailed HR and there response was quite different once they had to put it in writing!

@PurpleCurtain The sickness seems to be up and down a bit. Mostly I don't feel sick in the mornings any more but yesterday I woke up feeling sick. I felt a bit under the weather anyway yesterday though. Generally I've now been feeling sick mostly at night after I've eaten dinner...

@FirstTimeMummy2021 I am seeing midwife tomorrow for 16 weeks appointment. I'm nervous but more because I'm nervous before any scan or Doppler as I am so anxious for baby to be okay...

PeanutButterFalcon · 19/01/2021 10:55

@FirstTimeMummy2021 I had my 16 week appointment yesterday. I’m always anxious too, the midwife was lovely and answered all my questions. Went through my blood results, dipped my urine and discussed the 20 week scan and feeling baby kick. Then we listened to the heartbeat. It took about 45 mins in total.

I think all my boss is worried about it making sure we have enough staff. It’s a small team. I’m in today so going to see if I can get HRs email.

Thank you @AliceinBunniland I will look for that thread. Hope you are feeling better today

Luckyelephant1 · 19/01/2021 18:18

@AliceinBunniland covid symptoms wise we are both fine thank you for asking, although still isolating from each other which is tough in a small house! But pregnancy wise I feel like my tiredness has gone back to how it was in the first trimester if not worse! I thought I'd have lots more energy by now but sadly not. It's annoying because I really want to get into a prenatal exercise routine but it's tough waking up every day not knowing how you'll feel.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 20/01/2021 10:13

16+3 and i seem to have developed pregnancy insomnia, anyone have a miracle cure?

lmao88 · 20/01/2021 11:49

@ THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I also have pregnancy insomnia for the last 4 weeks and so desperate to have a full night of unbroken sleep. Pregnancy pillow, lavender oil, warm milk, and total darkness isn’t helping. Normally I would take a herbal sleeping pill, but I don’t think it is safe during pregnancy. Hope someone can provide some much appreciated advice Confused

I am 15 wks, I am very mild symptoms in my first trimester - extreme exhaustion, constipation, and mild nausea.

I haven’t told my work / boss yet since I am up from promotion this year (Feb) and don’t want to jeopardize any chances, I will tell them around 18-20 wks.
