@PeanutButterFalcon @lili77 I have been in search of non see through leggings and have just ordered from loveleggings. I don't wear long tops with leggings as it feels frumpy so for me they need to be really good. My non maternity leggings are amazing but I've just never found maternity ones as good. Will report back!

AliceinBunniland · 12/01/2021 20:44

I've got some gap maternity ones that are quite thick but I bought them more 2+ years ago

Sweetpea12 · 12/01/2021 22:02

I can’t remember how far along the ladies are on here but did anyone have their first midwife appointment just on the phone? I was hoping to be seen in person I know because of covid it’s not possible but a friend was seen at 16 weeks and heard the heartbeat and I’m not able to have that and now feel anxious waiting the 7 weeks until my scan. Can someone give my head a wobble lol

strawberrycherryblossom · 12/01/2021 23:50

@Sweetpea12 I'm 15 weeks but have had mine in person, including my 16wk appointment which is in a couple of weeks (when I'll be 16+6). If it helps though my midwife said they don't listen to the heartbeat here at 16wks as baby can still be quite small so it's not always easy to find (they did it with my last pregnancy so must be a recent change). I know that might not help but just to say it seems to vary by area whether you get to hear it so you might not be missing out by having your appointment by phone Thanks

Do you have a date for your 20wk scan? I've found having a date in mind helps. It'll be here before you know it and then hopefully you can breathe easy. And it probably won't be long before you feel baby move too which is another reassuring thing - though sometimes stressful as then you feel you have to keep track of movement!

BewareThePenguins · 13/01/2021 05:24

@Sweetpea12 I'm 11+ 4 , my first scan is the 20th jan and my booking in appointment was done over the phone. I didn't even know she was going to call! I think I was about 8 or 9 weeks for the booking appointment. Apart from the scans, my midwife has told me that she won't see me in person until I'm 25 weeks! Which seems like such a long time to wait!

Sweetpea12 · 13/01/2021 07:34

Yeah I have a date for my next scan it’s the 23rd February I know it’s not a long time i think because I’ve had an early scan at 6 weeks I paid for one at 9 and then got my 12 now waiting 7 weeks feels like an eternity. I’m just anxious about pregnancy in general but hopefully the weeks will pass in ok until I can feel movement and that will be more reassuring too.

Thanks girls for commenting I appreciate it always good to have someone for rational advice on here Smile

AliceinBunniland · 13/01/2021 11:30

@Sweetpea12 I had two telephone booking appointments because I live in a different city to the hospital we have chosen. My local midwife did my booking on the phone and then saw me a few days later to give me a maternity notes pack and take my blood pressure etc and then had my hospital
booking appointment by phone and they took my bloods after my 12 week scan. Even if they do a telephone appointment they still need to test your blood and carry out other checks.

I also saw my midwife last week as I was worried about spotting so she said I could go in and she listened to the heartbeat.

My next appointment is 16 week appointment with local midwife next week in person.

It is different everywhere though and we are being offered a bit more support generally and extra scans as I lost my first baby (full term stillbirth).

PeanutButterFalcon · 13/01/2021 16:00

@lili77 thank you. I look forward to it! They have some nice stuff on their website. Hoping to find things that will do until the summer, so going to hang out for more items to come out after the sales. Nothing like flashing the bottom to everyone! I’ve bought thick tights before and found they were better quality than leggings.

@Sweetpea12 I haven’t met my midwife yet. I had my booking appointment over the phone. Will see her next week for my 16 week appointment though and listen to the heartbeat.

PurpleCurtain · 13/01/2021 17:57

I met my midwife at 10 weeks for bloods and urine - it was a 2 minute in and out as the actual booking appointment was on the phone. 16 weeks is on the phone for most people here too - again I'm going in person purely for more bloods and urine tests. Not sure if they will do listening to heartbeat given the standard here is that people don't get that.

Sweetpea12 · 13/01/2021 18:37

So strange how places do it differently. I had my 12 week with the midwife over the phone other than giving bloods and a urine sample then I just got given my folder. Will just wait the 6 weeks now on the scan I think because I had it in my head I would see someone I just feel nervous but it will be fine I’m
Sure

Flittingaboutagain · 13/01/2021 20:13

Mine was phone too and then a 5 min face to face for the necessary tests. Much safer so I was happy with this.

strawberrycherryblossom · 14/01/2021 10:51

I'm not sure @stickytoffeepud1991 comes back here any more Sad is there anyone else who can help me? Or ask her to come back to MN briefly!

MaryLola · 14/01/2021 11:47

I would also like to move to the Facebook group

PurpleCurtain · 14/01/2021 12:49

@Sweetpea12 our odds of everything being fine are pretty good by this point, but having had pains recently (that don't sound like round ligament pains according to Dr Google but who knows as I'm a first timer), I'm also a little worried. Is booking a private scan an option for you? The bonus is you may also be able to find out the gender from that too! I do wonder how much private scan places must be making from the pandemic though!

Sweetpea12 · 14/01/2021 13:08

I was going to book a private scan for the assurance it’s just a lot of money to spend as I paid £70 before Christmas for a scan. I would like to know the gender so maybe a possibility

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/01/2021 13:19

Had a scan this week and now know i am 15+5 due 4th July!

Dont do FB but would like to join this thread

Flittingaboutagain · 14/01/2021 14:36

I'm going to treat myself to some of those leggings thanks all!

stickytoffeepud1991 · 14/01/2021 14:56

Hi,
i do post on here not often but in between night shifts and looking after a toddler it is hard!
Any of you that private messaged me i did add you to the group. The link would of been sent via email so if you can just check your emails please.
If not PM me again and il get on when i can, Thankyou x

AliceinBunniland · 14/01/2021 14:58

@PurpleCurtain How many weeks are you? I had some pains at about 13 weeks and some Googling and Mumsnetting suggested it's not that unusual at that stage as you are growing a lot and the uterus moves up from behind the pelvis at that stage. My midwife agreed to see me and listen to the heartbeat.

Also pains can be caused by things like a UTI so it might be worth calling your midwife or GP as they could test for that and may scan you early if you are having pains.

strawberrycherryblossom · 14/01/2021 15:16

@stickytoffeepud1991 sorry if it sounded like I was chasing you! I just thought you might have left MN and just gone to the Facebook group. I'll message you now x

pinkgin8 · 14/01/2021 20:56

Joining
Can I post my scan on here and see what people think to wether it's a boy or girl?x

Jobsharenightmare · 15/01/2021 07:59

Yes do Smile

PurpleCurtain · 15/01/2021 10:24

@AliceinBunniland - I'm 15 weeks; I did raise it but it sounds like at this stage and with current NHS pressures they won't offer extra checks or scans to anyone who isn't bleeding and I'm thankfully not. Google and my midwife told me round ligament pains should be sharp, momentary and to the side... whereas mine are constant and central since 13 weeks, most of the time. Maybe it's just some other stretching pain or I've managed to pull a muscle.

Is anyone else of the type that naturally really feels the cold and needs to smother themselves in lots of covers, thick pyjamas, dressing gowns in winter? (And spring and autumn...) Am I supposed to still be doing this whilst pregnant or do I need to be more mindful - and if the latter, any sleep tips from anyone as I've never understood how to sleep unless boiling hot! Woke up particularly toasty and dehydrated today and suddenly questioned it!

I generally haven't been too much of a worrier (that's normally my husband) but I feel like too much mumsnet reading has got me questioning everything now!

AliceinBunniland · 15/01/2021 10:31

@PurpleCurtain The pain I had that day at 13 weeks was not momentary. It was more like cramping type pain. I also considered whether it could be due to constipation. Thankfully it only lasted a day but I also had some spotting but the midwife found the HB easily. I had spotting in my first pregnancy too but I don't remember the pains at various stages tbh.

I googled something like "cramps at 13 weeks Mumsnet" and there were a few threads like that plus there was a current thread on here at the time when I posted. Hopefully it is nothing to worry about.

I think wrapping up warm is fine. I am generally a cold person and I like the heating on and then on an evening I sit with a blanket on too. Sometimes the fire on as well. If you're feeling dehydrated then it's probably a good idea to just drink a bit more. Sorry I know that's very obvious but I think I need to drink more too and sometimes it is easier said than done.
