@strawberrycherryblossom - The FB group is private, so no one can see it unless they're a member (or see that you're in it).

We've only told my parents - literally no one else, yet! May not until 20 weeks (15 now).

strawberrycherryblossom · 12/01/2021 08:13

@CC81 I might then. I'm too nervous in case work find out before I tell them! I've notified HR but I'm nervous about my team. Have you told work?

PurpleCurtain · 12/01/2021 09:04

Hi everyone. Approx 15 weeks here. Anyone else keep forgetting they're pregnant and do silly things?

Last night I flopped belly first onto the bed to read a book. No particular pain (though have been having a variety of regular abdominal pains so its hard to tell!) but my husband is really fussing and saying I need to go get myself checked out. Would you?

Luckyelephant1 · 12/01/2021 09:12

Hi hope everyone is well! I'm 14+1 today. Haven't moved to a Facebook group yet and so far have only told close family, close friends and my manager at work. Not entirely sure what's holding me back from telling others but I just don't feel ready! Will see how I feel after 16 week appointment or might even wait till after 20 week scan.

Anyone else feeling weird twinges? I know round ligament pain is a thing which I've definitely had but sometimes I feel all weird around my ribs and just under, almost like I'm constipated around my ribs?!

I can't wait to start feeling movements. For a first baby what week is typical to feel it? I know it can depend on placenta position etc.

Flittingaboutagain · 12/01/2021 09:24

At my scan I was told I wouldn't feel baby moving until at least 20 because my placenta is thick at the front.

You don't need to get checked out flopping on a soft surface like a bed Purplecurtain. It isn't like you fell onto a concrete floor or got punched in the stomach. I am having chiropractor sessions on my stomach and it is perfectly safe until 20 weeks and that's with a very hard surface.

I echo some of your thoughts and am going to wait until 20 week scan now to tell people. Things have been hard in my relationship with lockdown and pregnancy hormones so would rather wait until we are back on track too.

I have started feeling trapped wind up by my ribs. If you're not used to it you might think it is joint pain or constipation.

PurpleCurtain · 12/01/2021 10:09

Thanks @flittingaboutagain

My instinct was to laugh as I assumed as much; then I saw my husband's face and didn't want to be ignorantly insensitive!!

Have also had rib pain, which I also assumed was constipation or wind, as I haven't done anything to injure myself (other than said belly flop, oops).

Also on the not telling anyone til 20 weeks boat! Taking advantage of the fact that we 'can' do that given the pandemic, as normally lack of drinking/ team sports/ cheese would have given it away!

strawberrycherryblossom · 12/01/2021 10:11

@PurpleCurtain I also wouldn't be worry about getting checked out. Beds are very soft and baby is still tucked away safely. I have a toddler crawling over mine all the time GrinI did nearly have a huge mouthful of prosciutto when I was cooking dinner last night and then remembered it's no cured meat unless it's cooked Sad

@Luckyelephant1 trapped wind is awful! You have to remember everything in your body relaxes when you're pregnant too so you might get strange aches and pains. I ended up with horrendous rib pain last time but that wasn't until 36/7 weeks and was simply because baby was big and pushing them!

I was 17/18 weeks last time (my first) but I'm conscious that is quite early. Lots of my friends didn't start feeling movement until after 20 weeks so don't worry if you don't. When you do start feeling it though it will probably be far lower than you expect (I remember thinking that was odd last time). It's not in your belly as such but right low down. My placenta was high/at the back though so that will help. They'll tell you where yours is at your 20 week scan.

I think part of not telling people comes from the fact it's easy to right now. If I was at work I wouldn't be able to hide my belly until 20 weeks but working at home I can. I think I'll be about 18 weeks when I share widely at work and 20 when I just share openly.

@Flittingaboutagain I hope things are ok at home Thanks

strawberrycherryblossom · 12/01/2021 10:15

Also - how are we doing on bump watch? I have a very slight bump appearing but only visible in my underwear and only if you knew. I assumed I would be bigger this time but I'm also aware it suddenly popped one day so may do the same this time..

CoffeeAndCaramel · 12/01/2021 11:02

Hello everyone!! How are we all? Isn't it nice to have had the scans now and relax a little bit! @strawberrycherryblossom I am really showing already, I've had quite a bump for a few weeks! I never showed till about 6 months in previous pregnancies x

Flittingaboutagain · 12/01/2021 11:15

Oooh it's nice to see a flurry of chat. Hope everyone is having a good day.

strawberrycherryblossom · 12/01/2021 11:34

Does anyone have the link for the FB group?

lili77 · 12/01/2021 12:31

@strawberrycherryblossom I saw my midwife today and she'd had my results back, low risk, 1/100000 and 1/32000 so I feel at ease now. It seems they get the results way before you anyway.
I seem to have a small bump now at nearly 4 months. Or i am just putting weight on🤫🧐

strawberrycherryblossom · 12/01/2021 12:42

@lili77 I am still quite small but was bigger at this point last time. I did start about 4kg lighter this time though (59kg vs 64kg) which I think has played a part. I'm slim and tall so there's nowhere for a bump to really hide and I expect it to really pop any day - I've washed my old maternity clothes today and ordered some new leggings. It's so hard not being able to go to the shops. For anyone looking, H&M do good maternity clothes and you can order online. I don't like their leggings but everything else is excellent.

Great screening odds too!

PurpleCurtain · 12/01/2021 13:29

I've definitely put weight on - been eating far more and exercising far less than pre pregnancy me. But as a first timer, no clue if my current roundness is bloat/ fat/ an early bump!

PeanutButterFalcon · 12/01/2021 13:49

I’m not on the Facebook group either - I don’t use Facebook.
I think I’m just starting to get a bump but not obvious at 14 weeks. Cannot wait until we can feel kicks!
I didn’t like the h and m maternity clothes online they don’t look my style. Would be interested where people are finding nice dresses and tops. Everything seems to be oversized t shirts.
Has anyone thought about maternity pillows? My back pops in bed at night and got told a pillow might help

strawberrycherryblossom · 12/01/2021 14:29

@PeanutButterFalcon what kind of thing are you looking for clothes wise? I don't go for floaty because I had a really neat bump and wanted to show it off really. I stuck with skinny jeans (H&M are amazing for jeans) and tight t-shirts. I also had quite a few bodycon dresses. Mamalicious dresses are lovely and were tight enough without being seethrough or showing your pants. I also tried next, seraphine and New look but none of those worked for me.

PeanutButterFalcon · 12/01/2021 14:56

@strawberrycherryblossom I usually wear skirts/dresses. Although not necessarily floaty and I’d love to show off my bump (when it appears). I don’t really wear jeans very often. I definitely don’t want to be flashing my pants! Haven’t heard of mamalicious, will look now.
I will need a few basic tops to wear under my scrubs at work too which I don’t want to spend a fortune on as they’ll get ruined.

strawberrycherryblossom · 12/01/2021 15:19

@PeanutButterFalcon I wore these a lot last time. They're not tight tight but are also not tent like. I got a S (size 10 usually) until about 32 weeks when I went for a M as my bump was huuuuuge.

MillyJS · 12/01/2021 15:19

I've also definitely got a tiny bump, although could easily be mistaken for podge 😳 First baby for me so it feels quite strange. High waisted jeans are already a total no go! I've been living in joggers working from home.

I've got my scan this week, I'll be 13 weeks. Glad to hear you're all getting on ok!

AliceinBunniland · 12/01/2021 16:27

@PeanutButterFalcon
I really like H&M mama jeans too and I have their t shirts which strawberry posted which I also have from last time. I think I lived in my jeans and t shirts last time and I also got some dungarees from JoJo.

I have a pillow somewhere that I got from Argos but I can't find the pillow or the product on their website 🙄

strawberry I think you have to be invited. I think @stickytoffeepud1991 said further up she would add people if you DM your email address.

@PurpleCurtain I think my bump has a mixture of baby, bloat, diastase recti (ab separation - I had it last time) and maybealso the result of not being v active.

@CoffeeAndCaramel I think "they" say you do show earlier in subsequent pregnancies.

lili77 · 12/01/2021 16:36

@strawberrycherryblossom I recently ordered some maternity items off boohoo and I am really impressed.
My next online shop is going to be at pretty little thing as they have lots of stuff to choose from,
I'm 21 so I'm still trying to wear my style of clothing suitable for pregnancy😅 it all looks great.
I was happy with the results. Definitely stopped me worrying.

PurpleCurtain · 12/01/2021 17:35

Have told myself I'll wait until after my 16 week midwife appointment next week to buy maternity clothes or pillows, so these recommendations are useful!

And in general I really hope that the constant stomach pains I've been having do go away soon and aren't anything sinister - though inevitably I might want them back depending on how bad the pregnancy symptoms that are yet to come might be!

PeanutButterFalcon · 12/01/2021 18:08

@strawberrycherryblossom they look perfect for work thank you!
@MillyJS hope you’re scan goes well.
@AliceinBunniland I hadn’t even thought of Argos! Will look on their website now.
@lili77 I’m 25 and finding it hard to find stuff. I heard poor things about boohoo’s maternity so it’s good to hear something positive. Please let me know how your PLT order goes.
@PurpleCurtain hope your pains go soon.

CC81 · 12/01/2021 18:24

@strawberrycherryblossom - You need to be invited to the FB group (no link because it's private). If you send a PM to @stickytoffeepud1991 with your email address, she can invite you.

I'm self-employed, so won't tell my clients until well after 20 weeks (and same with everyone else, with a few exceptions).

lili77 · 12/01/2021 20:00

@PeanutButterFalcon the maternity leggings are thin//see through but if you wear long tops it's no issue and they are really comfortable. Over the bump style is what I went for.
I will let you know how it goes and throw some recommendations of items for you!
