@Blughbablugh - I'm on both (but not very active). Can I help?

WarrickDavisAsPlates · 29/12/2020 16:52

Got my rescheduled booking in appointment tomorrow, should be 11+4 going by my last period.

Got my NHS scan on the 8th of Jan. I am getting increasingly anxious about it, genuinely worried I'll end up having a panic attack in the hospital.

Does anyone know of any good ways to keep calm? I'm a fairly anxious person anyway but due to previous bad news at the scans they always send my nerves through the roof.

PeanutButterFalcon · 29/12/2020 18:43

@AliceinBunniland no prescription. Just got told to get some at 12 weeks so grabbed a couple packets in boots as they have the lower doses and don’t dissolve.
My midwife is going to contact the hospital for advice.

@WarrickDavisAsPlates no advice for the scan but I’ve had some in the EPU and the staff have been so kind and reassuring. I’m sure it’ll be the same for you

AliceinBunniland · 30/12/2020 08:51

@PeanutButterFalcon I was interested because the boots at my local gp surgery would not sell it to me as they said they do not sell asprin to pregnant women without a prescription. My local pharmacy did sell it to me but they only had dispersible and they questioned me a lot as they seemed used to having a prescription. I think I might have to get a prescription to get some that is not dispersible.

luxxlisbon · 30/12/2020 10:53

Can someone post the Facebook group?

CC81 · 30/12/2020 11:10

@luxxlisbon - It's a private group (not visible publicly), so you need to be invited. I'll ask one of the admins if they can pop back here, so you can DM them your email address (for the invite).

stickytoffeepud1991 · 30/12/2020 11:21

Hi! I’m one of the admins on the Facebook group! If people want to DM there email addresses I can add you xx

PeanutButterFalcon · 30/12/2020 12:13

@AliceinBunniland I didn’t even mention I was pregnant. Just popped in grabbed it and left. Didn’t buy it from the pharmacy section either.

AliceinBunniland · 30/12/2020 13:03

@PeanutButterFalcon Interesting! Both places I have been they have asked what it is for but both were small pharmacies where I had to ask for it...

strawberrycherryblossom · 30/12/2020 14:09

Just back from my dating scan. Baby all looking as it should and measuring 13 weeks exactly. Due 7/7.

NT measurement was really small so just hoping my bloods are ok now. Fingers crossed.

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 30/12/2020 15:36

@strawberrycherryblossom I had my scan yesterday and have the same due date. NT was small too and they said I should get my results in about a week, sooner if theres any issues. Still hasn't sunk in though!

feistymumma · 30/12/2020 16:44

Hello @stickytoffeepud1991 I'm trying to send you a dm to be added to the Facebook group but don't know how to even message. I'm using the app.

Thank you

stickytoffeepud1991 · 30/12/2020 16:52

@feistymumma il message you. And then if you follow the link if should take you straight to messages xx

strawberrycherryblossom · 30/12/2020 17:50

@FirstTimeMummy2021 it also hasn't sunk in for me. I look exactly how I did before my first pregnancy so not even a hint of a bump and I'm actually 2kg lighter. I was expecting to show earlier as it's my second!

jewelsx · 31/12/2020 15:04

Is anyone still eating "spicy" // "hot" food?

strawberrycherryblossom · 31/12/2020 15:08

@jewelsx me! Eating the same as always.

jewelsx · 31/12/2020 15:15

@strawberrycherryblossom brilliant. Not sure why I felt the need to ask as I have no concerns but wanted to double check it's okay. Spicy chicken wings tonight it is!

AliceinBunniland · 31/12/2020 15:26

Yes. Ordered a box of jalapeño crisps on Amazon and they just arrived!

strawberrycherryblossom · 31/12/2020 15:39

@jewelsx definitely no problem! Business as usual here in terms of spice x

jewelsx · 02/01/2021 00:54

Has anyone here stopped taking there pregnancy tablets? Does anyone know why we don't need them after 12 weeks? And is it harmful to carry on?

Shamoo · 02/01/2021 01:22

Hi all, just found this group so hoping it’s ok to join! We are also due on 7/7. My wife is carrying as I have had two previous MMC myself. Hope it’s still ok if I tag along on this thread though, as she isn’t on MN. Good to meet you all.

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 02/01/2021 06:58

@jewelsx I'm just over 13 weeks and still taking my folic acid and vitamin d. I know that the main benefit of taking folic acid is when you're in the first trimester but I wasnt sure if I was supposed to stop them now or not? I'm also anaemic so on iron tablets so was thinking about switching to a multivitamin instead but have no idea!

Scottishskifun · 02/01/2021 08:38

@jewelsx

Has anyone here stopped taking there pregnancy tablets? Does anyone know why we don't need them after 12 weeks? And is it harmful to carry on?
Folic acid is only needed first 12 weeks to prevent spina bifida, the spinal cord is fully formed so not needed after 12 weeks. There isn't any harm in continuing to take it if part of a multivitamin (in Scotland every pregnant woman gets the same free vitamins which are folic acid, vitamin c and d). There has however been research indicating that continued use of folic acid is a factor in tongue ties of babies which is an issue if planning on BF. Doesn't garentee no tongue tie if stopped after 12 weeks but less likely.

I discussed with my midwife as my son had a very tight tongue tie and we had lots of feeding issues due to it. So I am taking vitamin C and vitamin D only now which you definitely do still need.

strawberrycherryblossom · 02/01/2021 08:45

@jewelsx I've been taking the pregnacare plus tablets and will take them my entire pregnancy. Folic acid is only needed for the first 12 weeks but no harm carrying on.

AliceinBunniland · 02/01/2021 08:51

@Shamoo Yes of course you are welcome. My due date is 7 July too

That's interesting @Scottishskifun

I have been taking higher dose folic acid and vitamin d but I may just take pregnacare now as I think the other vitamins could be of some benefit more so than higher dose folic acid but then no one has said to stop taking it.
