Hope everyone's scans have gone ok. I'm still waiting for my date to come through the post!

Has everyone had their flu jab? My doctors have put me on a waiting list as they don't have any clinics on at the moment. Is it worth me just going into Boots to get it done do you think?

AliceinBunniland · 23/12/2020 10:36

I had my scan this morning and it went well. We are still waiting for screening results of course.

I have my flu jab booked today @MillyJS Id your GP won't do it can you ask your midwife what to do or find out how long it will take to get one on the waiting list?

MillyJS · 23/12/2020 11:21

@AliceinBunniland That's great news!

Yes I'll do that - I hadn't even thought of speaking to the midwife 🙈 Thank you x

Blughbablugh · 23/12/2020 11:21

I've had my 12 week scan this morning. All looking well and a couple of days further a long Smile
They kept asking me if I had the flu jab as they were doing them at the clinic today but I've already had mine done so maybe check if they are doing them at the scans

So happy I have a happy baby measuring 11+4 which is about right for my prediction. Have a very active, wriggler x

AliceinBunniland · 23/12/2020 15:18

@Runnergirl1 Smile

Lovely reading all of your updates! I had an early scan which took my dates back by two days which is okay. Have my twelve week one on the 8th, I'll be exactly 12 weeks 😍

Candyflosscrochet · 23/12/2020 16:01

Hi all, lovely to hear so many positive things going on given all the vwrybrapid and scary developments with covid.
To add to the positive vibes I have just had my nipt screening results and low chance on all trisomies and found out I'm having another boy!! Would have loved a girl to even the score but I'm so happy regardless!
And I know I'm only 12wks but I swear I felt movement of some sort last night (5th pregnancy so quite possible I'll feel early movement).
NHS scan on Tuesday, looking forward to seeing him again!
As for covid, I've had a good cry already, it just sucks. Moving into tier 4 on boxing day. Im an NHS worker who was redeployed during the last lockdown and they're discussing redeployment again. Had a meeting with my boss who agrees I'm not wholly suitable for redeployment now, but more because hubby will remain working in one of the few sectors that can stay open. I'm a bit relieved to be honest...lockdown fatigue, miscarriage in the summer, trying to keep everyone safe etc is taking its toll!
Sorry, just wanted to rant. Xx

AliceinBunniland · 23/12/2020 16:17

That's lovely @Candyflosscrochet

Sorry you are feeling down about covid etc but lots to be excited for xx

Luckyelephant1 · 23/12/2020 17:58

So nice reading about everyones scans today! I had mine too and it's also a wriggler! During the scan she said I was about 11+3 which approx correlates to my private scan I had last week. Then when I'd come back from having a wee and she was taking me to have bloods she said measurements said I was 12+2... But my EDD is still 12th July so I'm pretty sure she misspoke and wasn't meant to say 12? I couldn't really ask as she sort of dashed off after leading me to the bloods area.

Also apparently they won't tell me what the results of the combined test are unless it's high risk... But either way I still wanna know what my odds are?? I'm not too concerned as I've also had a Harmony Test which is much more accurate but still, it's a bit weird.

Finally it was picked up that a couple of things were wrong on my booking appointment form such as weight (I had the booking apt on the phone) so when I went home I went over the questionnaire with a fine tooth comb and it turns out she's entered loads of stuff incorrectly!!! Things like my partners ethnicity and history of diabetes which I definitely wouldn't have said wrongly myself. I'm absolutely fuming and kicking myself that I didn't check through this earlier but then again I wouldn't expect such fundamental mistakes in such a simple questionnaire! So I'm going to have to ring up tomorrow and ensure it's corrected, even if it means I have to do the entire booking questionnaire again!

Luckyelephant1 · 23/12/2020 18:01

Just to add I'm really not slamming the NHS at all and everyone today was really lovely. Its just that they are so busy and overstretched and there's so much box ticking they have to do that silly mistakes keep getting made. While I was waiting for my scan I overheard a midwife at reception with a patient saying unfortunately a couple of her appointments were missed because they got 'lost in the system' and now it was too late for the tests. Its a bit scary really.

strawberrycherryblossom · 23/12/2020 19:12

@Luckyelephant1 I got my combined screening results last time even though I was low risk (1 in 100,000 for all 3). I'd say no news is good news but no reason why you shouldn't still be told your odds. I am 11+5 today from my private scan which makes my due date 9/7 so she's done something wrong with yours! The measurement should be on your notes though if you ask when you call.

Scan a week today for me. The COVID cloud has descended and I'm tempted to go to the scan alone (partners are still allowed here) because I feel like one person is better than two but I'm undecided. I have been texting my midwife about it today and she has put my mind at ease a little but I really don't want to be there any longer than necessary.

Luckyelephant1 · 23/12/2020 19:16

@strawberrycherryblossom yeah I think she meant to say 11+2 to me not 12+2 as this correlates with my private scan last week and would also mean 12th July is the correct due date which is in my notes.

Aw I hope you come to the right decision for you. My husband came, he was literally allowed in for 5 mins and had to stand in one spot so all very good social distance wise etc.

strawberrycherryblossom · 23/12/2020 19:25

@Luckyelephant1 is this your first? I wonder if that's why I feel differently. I was desperate for him to come last time but it's like I'm less worried because we have done it before. That said I know I'd hate to be alone if it wasn't good news.

We are also tier 4. I feel like hiding away for a few months and re-emerging when life is better. Every time I see someone I worry about them coming too close Sad

Scottishskifun · 23/12/2020 19:34

Confused I think I might be too late by the time my scan is for the tests as will be the 14th week. I think they can still do the downs test and with my son they didn't test the others in Scotland so not too worried if they can't.

I remember the results taking absolutely ages for the downs test last time and then suddenly appeared on my app on day!

Luckyelephant1 · 23/12/2020 19:41

@strawberrycherryblossom yeah my first so I want my husband at everything but can appreciate its probably different if you've done this before! I'm in tier 4 too, I did ring up the unit before hand to see if they'd stopped partners attending but they hadn't.

WarrickDavisAsPlates · 23/12/2020 20:48

Got my scan date today, 8th of Jan. Its at 08:30 though so I'll have to get the bus as DH will need to drop Dd at school, he couldnt come in with me anyway but it's making me feel even more anxious that he won't just be waiting in the car park for me.

Also I was supposed to have my booking in appointment today but they phoned me this morning to move it to next week. Hoping DH can come home in his lunch hour or I'll have to take the kids with me and I'm really not wanting them to find out until we've had the scan in case it's bad news.

AliceinBunniland · 24/12/2020 08:07

@Scottishskifun Did you want the screening tests. If so can you call them and see if they can fit you in sooner? I had my scan at 8 am yesterday at a different hospital from my usual one as they were clearly busy over Christmas but I called a couple of times to chase my appointment and they fitted me in.

Scottishskifun · 24/12/2020 09:14

@AliceinBunniland yes I did but our community hospital was closed due to a covid outbreak so we have to travel to the closest city one hence they couldn't fit me in any time sooner.

I think the community hospital will be open again next week I will call my midwife and ask what the actual cut off date is for the tests as I will be roughly 14/5 on the date of the scan

Scottishskifun · 24/12/2020 10:20

Midwife has confirmed that it's too late but said that I can get second trimester downs test (which was what was done with my son as the triple test wasn't available). I called the city hospital they have nothing until mid Jan but my midwife is also trying for me. Community midwives in our area are fantastic!

It's not terrible if I miss it I'm low risk for Edwards and Patau but higher risk for downs now due to my age! Not quite counted as a geriatric pregnancy (hate that term) but only just!

AliceinBunniland · 24/12/2020 20:12

Hopefully it is a non-issue @Scottishskifun

I'm now anxious as DH has just told me I should be drinking cold water from the bathroom as it comes from a tank and can give you legionnaires disease? I have been drinking it for a couple of days, not realising. Hopefully it's fine and I wouldn't worry at any other time but I'm obviously an anxious pregnant person 🙄

Scottishskifun · 24/12/2020 20:18

@AliceinBunniland depends on the age of your house and water system. If you have a old cold water tank then it's not suggested but unlikely to get listeria due to how much your house uses water and system refreshing. Our house doesn't have a cold water tank so doesn't matter if its from the water supply for the loo or downstairs cold water tap it's still fresh water
