Congratulations @RainbowRED81 that’s fantastic news! So chuffed for you, keeping fingers and everything crossed for Xmas eve. I have a feeling 2021 is going to be your year :-)

Runnergirl1 · 08/12/2020 07:19

@RainbowRED81 that’s lovely news. Hoping this is your time and you have a happy and healthy 9months x

AliceinBunniland · 08/12/2020 09:44

That's lovely @RainbowRED81 I can imagine how nervous you must have been

I had a scan yesterday at 9+5 at the hospital. I was so scared to look at the screen until she said there was a heartbeat! I am under specialist care because of a previous loss. I have my booking appointment by phone today and hoping she will book me in for the 12 week scan too.

Candyflosscrochet · 08/12/2020 10:55

Hi ladies
I also had a scan yesterday, measuring 9wk5 and was a bag of nerves as this is past the time I lost the last one.
Kept my eyes closed for what seemed like an eternity until hubby squeezed my hand and told me to look and there it was...our gorgeous bubs kicking and waving! Even got a lovely little video of it!
Relieved and now getting excited that this one will be ok.
Have my nipt next week and then my NHS dating scan after Xmas, but my anxiety levels have dropped dramatically and am starting to feel positive and confident.
Symptom wise I'm doing ok, nausea seems to come in later in the day but I never suffered too badly with my other pregnancies so I'm thankful I've been lucky there! But the tiredness and sore boobs...can't wait for that to improve! Not easy when WFH with other kids to organise!! X

Il be 8 weeks on Thursday and due July 22nd ☺️x

Luckyelephant1 · 08/12/2020 14:11

Haven't posted for a while, I have my harmony test and early scan next Tuesday when I'll be 10+3, and just got my NHS dating scan and combined test through for 23rd! Really wasn't expecting the NHS scan before Christmas so I'm happy, it does mean it will be when I am only 11+4 then though. Guessing 3 days early wouldn't make too much difference?

I'll be 11 + 1 on mine if my private scan dated me right! Reluctant to move it as generally wasnt sure on my dates, and would probably be looking two weeks later now. I think anything from 11 weeks is fine for the scan itself, it just increases the chance that baby hasnt grown enough for them to do other tests, but could still be fine.

Mild panic of the day

DH made me a slice of toast and told me the slice next to it was mouldy. He said he checked this slice so I ate the toast as I was really hungry(!) but know I shouldn't have as now I'm worrying about it possibly having mould on it we couldn't see...

Hope everyone is okay

Luckyelephant1 · 09/12/2020 20:01

My mild panic of the day I ate a liqueur chocolate before suddenly realising what I had done 🤦‍♀️

Scottishskifun · 09/12/2020 20:12

I think both are fine especially given women used to be encouraged to drink a half pint of Guinness when pregnant. A small chocolate will be nothing.

I am much more relaxed about foods second time around yes I will avoid pate, liver, uncooked soft cheese and raw meat but tbh the biggest risk is listeria outbreaks from factories rather then stuff you make at home!

AliceinBunniland · 09/12/2020 20:48

@Luckyelephant1 I'm sure both are fine too. I didn't worry much after I posted this morning @Scottishskifun Thank you. My mum drank Guinness when pregnant with my brother and I know many people who have had the odd glass of wine while pregnant. I also feel a bit less anxious about what I eat than I did first time but I a little anxious about baby being okay generally

Luckyelephant1 · 09/12/2020 20:55

@AliceinBunniland @Scottishskifun yeah I didn't panic too much it was just that initial realisation of 'oops what have I just done'!

CC81 · 09/12/2020 22:02

I'm with @Scottishskifun - I did a lot of (scientific) reading about actual risks during pregnancy, first time around.

The alcohol thing is a funny one. To be clear, I agree with NOT drinking while pregnant, on the whole.

However, the 'zero' rule is simply to avoid guidance being confusing. Clinically, there's no proven risk of light alcohol consumption, particularly during the second and third trimesters.

But there's no certified 'safe' amount, so to keep it simple, authorities say zero. It avoids different interpretations of 'light'.

So, definitely don't worry about the odd sip/taste of something here and there!

Fetal alcohol syndrome is only caused by HEAVY drinking - like alcoholic level.

Our mothers' and grandmothers' generations used to drink a fair bit while pregnant.

Pregnancies are at greater risk from work stress, or driving a car.

Dougal88 · 10/12/2020 10:14

Hi all,

I'm just over 6 weeks now. Experiencing sore boobs on and off but for the past week I have had AWFUL diarrhoea and constant nausea, struggling to keep fluids in! I have been to the doctor who said it could either be hormones or I have an intermesh of MS and a bug.... anyone else experienced this?

Also my cm has dried up....?!

So much to worry about!!!!

AliceinBunniland · 10/12/2020 10:22

Have most of you had the flu jab by now?

I have had conflicting advice so haven't had it but now thinking of trying to have it before Christmas as we are likely to see a few people

MaryLola · 10/12/2020 10:34

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and just feeling crap, so tired all the time, constant nausea and a headache the past two days. Sorry just looking a moan!

Blughbablugh · 10/12/2020 10:57

@AliceinBunniland I had the flu jab at 5 weeks as I have it anyway due to my asthma. The nurse said there is no danger having it early as it is not a live vaccine and can have it anytime. I'm now almost 11 weeks and so far so good. Had a scan at 9 weeks and saw baby and heartbeat. Always best to check first but that's the advice I was given.

Blughbablugh · 10/12/2020 11:00

@MaryLola sorry you are feeling so crap. I felt like that from about 6 weeks. I'm almost 11 weeks and happy to say the nausea has pretty much gone, although the tiredness and exhaustion is still very much there! My eating isn't back to normal by any means but don't feel so sick anymore. Hope you feel better soon!

AliceinBunniland · 10/12/2020 11:09

Thanks @Blughbablugh

@Dougal88 Sounds like it could be a bug but hormones do all sorts to our digestive systems too. It's natural to worry I think

@MaryLola Do you work and if so do you have an understanding employer? I told my manager today that I'm pregnant because I know I'm less productive due to the tiredness etc and now he knows the reason I feel the pressure is of a little, which helps, as I am feeling tired and nauseous and then feeling stressed because I'm not getting much work done.

MaryLola · 10/12/2020 11:09

@Blughbablugh thank you, hopefully will feel better soon. Dying to tell people so they know why I've been so grumpy and moany all the time. Private scan next week so all being well will tell close family then. @AliceinBunniland I also got the flu jab at 5 weeks.

MaryLola · 10/12/2020 11:13

@AliceinBunniland I do and I totally feel I am not working to my full potential. I haven't told anyone yet, finishing up next Friday for 2 weeks so when I'm back it should be after 12 weeks and I'll speak to my manager then. I've been lucky I'm working from home so flying under the radar a bit hopefully.

AliceinBunniland · 10/12/2020 11:18

@MaryLola Yes I'm WFH too and it helps but due to the nature of my work my manager can see how productive we all are and tends to give more work to those who seem less busy. I was going to wait until after Christmas but he has sent me a couple of things this week so I felt I had to tell him. I knew he would be understanding if he knew and he has agreed not to tell anyone other than HR and his boss as I want to tell others in my own time.

It does sound like most people are having the flu jab in the first trimester. I have booked in to have it on Saturday.

CC81 · 10/12/2020 11:56

It's important to have the flu jab because if you get flu, it may include a high temperature - which can be dangerous in early pregnancy.

I hate the jab as it always makes me feel a bit weird afterwards! But not as bad as flu, so it's worth it.

3rdtimelucky2019 · 10/12/2020 12:19

Got my flu jab Saturday 👍 6 days until my 12 week scan. Anxiety levels at their very worst. DS 1st birthday tomorrow so busy all weekend, so that should make the time pass.

Scottishskifun · 10/12/2020 12:50

I automatically got my flu jab when I had my bloods done our community midwives are now issuing flu and whooping cough at midwife appointments which makes it a lot easier for me!

I only told my parents yesterday at 10 weeks I have had a few friends this year with missed miscarriages so don't wish to tell too many people until things are more certain.
