I've got my booking appointment via phone on Monday when I'll be 8+2. The midwife literally got in contact yesterday via WhatsApp which was a bit strange, I've confirmed the appointment with her through reply to her WhatsApp message but I think I'll give the actual maternity department a call first thing Monday just to check all is legit, as that seems pretty casual and I've had no other letters etc. I'm just glad the ball is finally rolling!

Anyway the midwife said she'll discuss scans, blood tests etc during the appointment on Monday so I'm guessing she will book the 12 week scan after the booking in.

Dougal88 · 28/11/2020 19:31

Did I read that there is a Facebook group? I would really love to join please! X

amyspames · 28/11/2020 20:22

@Runnergirl1
I am the same, MMC not diagnosed until 15-16 weeks, I am sure they messed up the 12 week scan and there was no heartbeat at that when measuring 9 weeks and 1. They reckon they did, but heart beat wasn't even mentioned at the scan, and they told me i was only measuring 9 and 1 as I had got my dates wrong - by almost 4 weeks, as if!

I never worried on that pregnancy and the one before it that anything would go wrong for me to need the reassurance of an early scan, though know if I could get one every week I would!

I know this doesn't make sense, but I think I'd find the news easier to take at a private scan before the official nhs ones, prob after the experience at my 12 week one, and then when the hospital confirmed the MMC in April. They could have been a lot more understanding, given I was on my own and was already freaked out as in the peak of first wave!
I'm having a private one when I'll be 9 weeks and 5. Stressing about it already though!

hippohippohippo · 28/11/2020 20:52

Another of my stresses here - anyone else get uterus twinges every time they move suddenly? I was desperate to do some exercise earlier as I finally didn't feel nauseous, so I went to do some step-ups onto my coffee table as I thought they would be low impact (!) and with the first one I felt such a big twinge/ pulling feeling 😬 I had similar a couple of weeks ago, but not as strong, when I got up quickly to go answer the door.

Is this something other people get too when they move suddenly or go up steep steps etc or have I overdone it?!

Blughbablugh · 28/11/2020 20:58

@hippohippohippo oh yes I get them. If I stand up funny or twist a bit I can really feel it. I'm pretty sure I got it with my dd.

AliceinBunniland · 28/11/2020 21:11

Yes I sometimes feel something if I move quickly or stretch or sneeze @hippohippohippo

hippohippohippo · 28/11/2020 21:17

Thanks guys! Hoped as much! Although it has definitely put me off step ups/ any exercise beyond a walk for a bit!

Runnergirl1 · 28/11/2020 22:08

@amyspames it’s awful isn’t it. I worried last time but not like this. See I’m the opposite I went private at 8weeks. Measuring 6 so I knew then but had to wait another two weeks for private again (midwife advised that too). So 10weeks measuring 6 weeks again. Then got referred to nhs next day and was measuring smaller, had to go back a week later, partly miscarried then had to go back 2weeks after that to see if I had completed the miscarriage which I had naturally. But it was awful. Prolonging the inevitable as the nhs don’t really look at the private scans so have to do their own all over again. Was so so long the process don’t think I can out myself through it again. Would rather it all be through nhs then I’m not getting sent back and forth. Hoping12weeks comes around and all is good🤞🏻🤞🏻 Not getting to enjoy this pregnancy though due to anxiety and worry x

amyspames · 28/11/2020 22:45

@Runnergirl1
Can totally see why you'd want to avoid all of that this time round, that sounds horrendous!
I don't know why I didn't worry about something going wrong before, maybe it's just because I didn't think miscarriage was as common as it is!

I have my scan date through for 30 dec, but haven't had my booking appointment yet 🤷‍♀️. Think I'll have to re-schedule it for start of jan when the schools go back, depending on restrictions then, my daughter might not be able to go to my mums house or somewhere similar, and not going on my own again this time round, especially given what happened last time!

Runnergirl1 · 29/11/2020 12:01

@amyspames it’s awful isn’t it. We can do this though. I hope all goes well for you. I’m a teacher and I think mine will fall around Christmas. I’ll be 12weeks 23rd so we will see after Thursday I guess and booking in appointment. I definitely don’t want to go on my own just incase I wouldn’t have been able to cope on my own my partner was so good x

ginandtonic80 · 29/11/2020 19:24

@MundyJuly

Ive been having the same for the past three days - rang the midwife helpline and been told only to come in if I'm cramping or bleeding like a period.

I've had cervical erosion in the past so I'm hoping that's what it is.

I've my booking appointment tomorrow so hope to talk it through with the midwife in more detail then.

jewelsx · 30/11/2020 00:18

Is anyone sleeping in certain positions? What do you find most comfortable? I worry if I lay on my front or back and I know it's way too early to even think about!

AliceinBunniland · 30/11/2020 08:54

@jewelsx It doesn't matter at this stage. Once you need to start sleeping on your side a pregnancy pillow helps.

cakecakecheese · 30/11/2020 09:29

I'm usually a front sleeper but I've had to switch to the side to be more comfortable.
hippohippohippo · 30/11/2020 09:43

Same here - oh gosh the searing boob pain whenever I accidentally still sleep on my front!

NamechangeTTC · 01/12/2020 09:19

I caved and ordered a pillow @jewelsx the boob pain is massive.
First morning that I’ve felt really really sick. 5+6 on ovulation (6+5 LMP)

Mumof2boys18 · 01/12/2020 11:59

Morning all.
So today I am 5+6 and pregnancy fatigue is a killer!!! I can never remember being this bad with the boys. Constantly tired and feeling queasy x

3rdtimelucky2019 · 01/12/2020 12:45

Booking in today at 10 weeks. Other than the mask, felt exactly the same as my booking in appointment for my little boy 18 months ago. Second part of booking appointment on Friday to do the detailed medical history (this part was at my house last time).

She expects I'll have a 12 week scan around the 14th December. Anxious now despite good private scan last week.

strawberrycherryblossom · 01/12/2020 14:16

When are people notifying work? I'm nearly 9 weeks and have started thinking about it. I can notify HR without my immediate manager being notified but I still think I should wait until after my 12 week scan. Only perk is that I get paid time off for appointments once I notify them.

Cornflake24 · 01/12/2020 14:20

@strawberrycherryblossom id wait until after your 12 week scan, you won't have any other appointments between 12 and 20 so alot of people go for 16 weeks I believe

Blughbablugh · 01/12/2020 14:46

@strawberrycherryblossom it depends on your job. They may need to do a risk assessment and if its a job that poses some kind of risk if you are pregnant then better to tell them sooner rather than later. I have a private scan tomorrow and 9 weeks, I'm on annual leave this week and if everything OK I plan to tell them next week. That way I can then inform them about my 12 week scan. But then again I told them the last time I was pregnant and ended in miscarriage as I had to go and have a scan at epu. They were wonderful and very supportive. I guess it also depends on your employers.

@strawberrycherryblossom I told mine on Saturday when I was 6+6 as I registered the pregnancy and received a letter a few days later saying have 5 appointments within 5 weeks so I couldn’t keep it from them. Plus I work in an office when I really should be (and quite easily could be) working from home so I’ve asked them to limit my contact with other employees. Yesterday my final appointment at the fertility clinic took 2 hours so I’m glad I’ve told them now as I couldn’t lie about that length of time!

mariebaby3 · 01/12/2020 15:40

@strawberrycherryblossom I told my boss really early, at about 4 weeks. We're a small team and I was already struggling with some nausea. I notified our HR team last week at around 6 weeks as I got the details of my booking in appointment through. I've also been really poorly so I wanted to let them know for that added protection.

MaryLola · 01/12/2020 16:03

I'm going to wait until after the 12 week scan which should tie in with returning to work after Christmas. Been feeling utterly useless in work the past fortnight, so exhausted so will be a relief to let people know why.
Plan on telling close family after private scan at 10 weeks, be nice to tell them around Christmas.
I'm 7+4 and haven't received any apt letters yet. I'm in NI so I don't think we get a booking apt. Any other NI mums to be in the same boat?

Danielle9891 · 01/12/2020 17:24

Hi everyone can I join? I'm currently 8.2 weeks pregnant with my first due 11th July. I've been reading everyone's comments and it's nice to hear from others who are pregnant.
MaryLola I'm also from Northern Ireland near Ballymena. I told my GP when I was 5 weeks and received a letter a week later for my 12 week scan on the 21st December. It will be a all in one appointment with me having my scan, meeting my midwife, getting blood and urine tested as well as going through everything pregnancy related. I'm so nervous as it's my first pregnancy and I feel totally clueless.
