@dreaming174

Hi all, just checking in! This is my 2nd and I had horrific morning sickness with my 1st. Never actually vomiting, just on the verge all day long. I wasn't sure I could do it again it was so bad. I lost so much weight weeks 7 to 12. My Dr suggested vitamin B complex to me and it cleared up the nausea within a few days. I still felt like a hangover but it was an improvement. I've already started it this time round. Fingers crossed!
What dose of vitamin B6 do you take? I have some already in case the nausea hits as I recently read that it can help (nobody told me this in my first pregnancy!) but I think dosage is important and I'm worried I've bought ones that are too high.
AliceinBunniland · 25/11/2020 21:25

I'm sure it's fine @Luckyelephant1

I was a bit anxious tonight too because DH made steak for dinner and I ate a piece before I realised it was slightly pink in the middle. Hopefully it's fine so I'm going to try not to worry about it.

Mish20 · 25/11/2020 21:57

@kg87 I forced some veg down today but honestly was puke inducing! Then had 2 slices a toast lol! I am 7 weeks 2 days and it's my first time. NHS says you should have your first appointment between 8 to 10 weeks so not sure if I should chase the doctor or wait...

CC81 · 25/11/2020 22:11

@Mish20 and @Luckyelephant1 - Don't worry too much about raw stuff. You'd have to be very unlucky for the bits you are to contain anything harmful.

The NHS advises strongly against various things because it's erring massively, massively on the safe side (which is fair enough).

For example, rare meat MIGHT contain toxoplasmosis - but if you've eaten lots of it in the past, it's probable that you've already had it and since become immune. Also, if the meat has been frozen first, it kills it off.

BUT of course it's best avoided, to be safe - just don't freak yourself out if you accidentally have a bit Smile

CC81 · 25/11/2020 22:15

From Tommys:

"It is estimated that between a third and half of the UK population will have the infection at some point in their lives. Once you have had the infection, you are then immune for life – you cannot catch it again."

"The chances of getting toxoplasmosis for the first time during pregnancy are thought to be very small. Even if you do become infected, this doesn't mean your baby will definitely get it. In many cases the infection doesn't spread to the baby. It's estimated that only 1 in 10,000 babies is born with toxoplasmosis in the UK."

Sorry @Mish20, I meant @AliceinBunniland 😊

Kg87 · 26/11/2020 09:16

@Mish20 I made curry on Tuesday to have for Wednesday night but when I was driving home from work last night thought of it made me feel so ill! I ended up having chicken nuggets and chips whilst my husband had the curry lol. I got my booking appointment letter in the post! It’s for Tuesday next week, I’ll be 7+2 by then but based on my LMP I’ll be 8+2.

Kg87 · 26/11/2020 09:58

Does anyone have any advice on when to tell your employer? I haven’t even told my family yet so I didn’t want to tell my employers so soon when I’m only 6+2 however I’ve had all my appointments confirmed in a letter today and I’ve got 5 appointments within 5 weeks starting on Monday! My boss is already questioning my multiple hospital appointments that I’ve been having with the fertility department so I don’t know how much longer I can get away with this.. especially since I have my final fertility discharge appointment on Monday and my phlebotomy appointment on Tuesday 🙈

Kg87 · 26/11/2020 10:00
  • I’m actually 6+4, I can’t count 😂
3rdtimelucky2019 · 26/11/2020 10:05

Can you book as holiday then reclaim as antenatal once everything is revealed to work? I did that in my last pregnancy.

AliceinBunniland · 26/11/2020 10:05

Thanks @CC81 I'm hoping it's fine. It was a small amount and only slightly pink but it is still a bit of a worry. I'll try not to worry about it as I remember worrying about similar things during my first pregnancy too.

Dougal88 · 26/11/2020 10:09

Hello ladies!

I'd love to join in on this thread please!

I got my bfp on Monday all be it faint, I have tested on every single brand I could get my hands on, all were positive but faint. I have been a crazy lady and tested a lot since then and line in getting stronger but cb digital still showing as 1-2 weeks. My last period started on 14th October so I suppose that adds up!

This was a bit of a shock to my partner and I but both are happy! I am now just on high alert and worry mode as this will be our first! And I am a natural worrier!

Symptoms so far, sore boobs which now seem to be throbbing on and off, heartburn (which made me test along with a late period), light cramping which I assume is normal?!?!

It is lovely to be among you ladies! Xx

Kg87 · 26/11/2020 10:39

@3rdtimelucky2019 hmm that’s a good idea but I don’t think I’ll be able to as my contract states no annual leave between Nov-March as I work in the heating industry 👎🏻

Mish20 · 26/11/2020 10:41

@dougal88 congratulations!

iSharnie · 26/11/2020 10:56

Hi everyone, 9 weeks today! First ever pregnancy so never knew these forums existed. I've got my own health concerns so I'm a little complicated and I'm going to have to inject myself with blood thinners throughout the rest of pregnancy when the medicine is delivered 😰😰 anyone else has this?? Any advice?

Due 2 July 2021, not had scan yet though.

X

DressingGownofDoom · 26/11/2020 11:12

@Kg87 I told my employer straight away as they have to do covid risk assessments and things. It's only your line manager and HR who need to know.

Kg87 · 26/11/2020 12:22

@DressingGownofDoom yes this is true! i will probably tell them today, I’m just concerned it’s too early but I suppose I’m not going to be able to lie about two appointments, two days in a row!

Hopefulmummie · 26/11/2020 12:59

Hey. Sorry TMI but does anyone know if spotting after have an orgasm is normal? I've started lightly spotting this morning and really worried. We didn't have sex

AliceinBunniland · 26/11/2020 13:07

@Hopefulmummie I think some people get spotting after sex but if you didn't dtd then maybe it's not related. Spotting is often doesn't mean anything untoward x

BKB27 · 26/11/2020 15:50

Hi all - had my 7 week scan today and have had another missed miscarriage. I have another scan booked in next week on my request, not sure why but I felt I should ask at the time. Has anyone else had a situation where one week they couldn't see anything but the next week they did? I know it might be silly of me to cling on to hope at this stage but I didnt know what else to do

jewelsx · 26/11/2020 16:10

@BKB27
Really sorry to hear that Thankshave you had any symptoms of a miscarriage? Or just the scan making it seem/ show you have? I personally haven't had that happen, but usually by 7 weeks you would see a heartbeat so I'm not too sure why you wouldn't see it. Another scan may
help, but I am not 100% sure and I really hope there is some sort of answer for you the next time you go

jewelsx · 26/11/2020 16:11

Just realised you said "missed" miscarriage, so please ignore the question of "symptoms"x

PurpleIsTheColour · 26/11/2020 16:25

@BKB27, sending you a virtual hug as I know how hard it must be for you atm. Flowers Please don’t lose hope yet as when I had my MMC I did come around women on MN who didn’t see a HB at 7weeks and on the follow up scan the baby was doing fine! Are you definitely 7 weeks-did you bbt to confirm O? Maybe there is still a slight chance that your dates are out hence no HB has developed yet?

BKB27 · 26/11/2020 17:05

Thanks @jewelsx I dont know if hope is something I should put at the back of my mind rn. @PurpleIsTheColour thanks - I has a frozen ivf cycle so they think they are pretty certain with the dates as a 5 day embryo was implanted. But thats why I asked for another scan as like u say you read things so u just don't know. Thank you for the support ladies x

Runnergirl1 · 26/11/2020 17:38

@BKB27 so sorry to hear this. It is a horrible situation to be in. I had a missed miscarriage in July and had a 2week wait which was awful. It’s my biggest fear atm. Sending lots of virtual hugs x
