How many pregnancies, how many babies? (TW)

Not starting this thread to scare or upset anyone, so please don't read any further if talking about miscarriage might upset or worry you! Only asking because I've seen a couple of high profile people talk about their MCs recently and it's highlighted to me how common they are and that people just don't talk about them so they feel rare. I sort of knew this in theory, but it's really hit home. It seems there are very few (lucky) people who have had several healthy babies and no losses.

So, if you're comfortably answering, how many pregnancies have you had and how did they end?

I count myself as having had 1 pregnancy which thankfully gave me my little boy. I also had an unplanned CP but it was such an early loss (my period started just 3 days late after 1 faint line) and I was so emotionally unattached that I really didn't feel like I'd had a MC at all, so I don't really count it.

2 live births

Brody77 · 13/11/2020 10:58

10 pregnancies, one baby. We’ve given up now hoping for a second

NataliaOsipova · 13/11/2020 10:59

2 pregnancies, 2 babies. I was obviously much luckier than I realised. So sorry for anyone who has been through a miscarriage.

Starlight39 · 13/11/2020 11:04

5 pregnancies
First - DS
Second - MC at 6.5 weeks
Third - MMC at 8.5 weeks, discovered at 10 week private scan
Fourth - MMC at 7.5 weeks, discovered at 9.5 week private scan (after seeing a heartbeat at 7 weeks).
Fifth - currently 30 weeks pregnant and all looking good so far!

I agree that most people don't say too much about MC. I haven't told many people about mine although with the latest pregnancy but I sometimes said it has been a long road to get here, as an explanation as to why we kept it quiet longer than most do.

Taking 150 mg of aspirin per day seems to have helped with the latest one but my recurrent miscarriage appointment was cancelled due to Covid so I'm not 100% sure if I have blood clotting issues or if it's just down to luck this time.

3 pregnancies

3 babies

Sevo7 · 13/11/2020 11:09

4 pregnancies which is amazing considering I was told I’d need ivf to conceive.

1 baby followed by a mmc at 9 weeks, a mc at 6 weeks and then another baby. This was in the space of 9 years.

3 pregnancies
DS 1
Miscarriage at 12weeks ( five years after DS1)
DS 2 ( five years after miscarriage). Having abandoned all hope of second child.

2 pregnancies, 2 babies

I also conceived not just first month trying with both, but first attempt at sex with both! (although one was very ill at birth and had time in intensive care which was scary) I am not gloating, just I am always so amazed it happened like that and I know my mum had 2 miscarriages so was pretty much expecting the same. I am so incredibly grateful, I honestly can't imagine how sad and difficult it must be to lose a pregnancy.

firesong · 13/11/2020 11:27

1 ectopic
2 healthy pregnancies

rorosemary · 13/11/2020 11:28

7
2 chemicals
1 ectopic
1 lost at 8+4
1 lost at 11+4
1 tfmr although we view it as an early stillbirth. She was a very much wanted ivf baby but gradually discovered during the second trimester that she too sick to stay alive so we opted for early induction to let her go.
1 pregnant at the moment, 37 weeks pregnant and all going well. Induction next week.

After this I'm done. There is no way that I'm doing all that again. Sod the people who say that having an only is selfish.

5 pregnancies. 1 termination, 1 miscarriage, 3 babies.

Ele38 · 13/11/2020 11:33

I know I'm very luck I have has 4 pregnancies with 4 healthy babies x

JoeBidenIsGreat · 13/11/2020 11:41

I had exactly 4 pregnancies & 4 babies.

I expected to have loads of m/c because my mother had at least 3. She was never upset about them so I didn't think there was anything to worry about if they happened to me.
I know someone my age who had 4 m/c and wasn't upset about them. I guess people react very individually.

Megan2018 · 13/11/2020 11:43

1 pregnancy, 1 baby
Given I was in my 40’s I’m very thankful. I know lots of people who have had losses and it’s one reason why we aren’t trying again.

ImaSababa · 13/11/2020 11:52

1 pregnancy and 1 baby.
I thank G-d every day for this, as I was worried I'd left it too late.

somethinggreen · 13/11/2020 12:16

2 pregnancies, 2 babies. No miscarriages in my family.

First was unplanned and not at an ideal time, and second took 2 years after gynae surgery. So not an easy path although no losses thankfully.

Lollol86 · 13/11/2020 12:28

I'm currently on my 5th pregnancy with my 3rd.
Both my mmc happened just before 12 weeks.

Dyra · 13/11/2020 12:28

2 pregnancies 1 baby

First was an early MC. Thought I was at least 8 weeks, but baby stopped developing at 5. Was hard though as it came after 2 years of trying. Second pregnancy came 11 months later after some Clomid.

Going to start trying for number 2 in a few months.

kittlesticks · 13/11/2020 12:29

5 pregnancies 2 babies

Mummysgonetobed · 13/11/2020 12:32

2 natural conception miscarriages
2 ivf pregnancy miscarriages
3 successful pregnancies with live births
My first pregnancy was twins but I lost one and had a singleton birth.

RenegadeMrs · 13/11/2020 12:34

Bearing in mind I have never conceived without ivf, I've had 2 pregnancies and 2 babies. I feel absurdly lucky. My heart goes out to anyone who has had to cope with miscarriage.

Ismellphantoms · 13/11/2020 12:42

3 live births
2 mc. 1 very early, 1 16 weeks
1 twin lost with disappearing twin syndrome.

Newjobnewslob · 13/11/2020 12:47

2 healthy pregnancies.

Both times I only took the test when my period was over a week late, second time it was over two weeks late! I deliberately didn't want to know about any early MCs or CPs.

I've recently had my period 7 days late, I had finally cracked and asked DP to buy me a test but hadn't taken it yet, and then it thankfully came - I don't want a third child and it would have been a difficult decision if I was pregnant, so now I'm in blissful ignorance whether it was an early MC or the menopause kno ming on my door
