As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Stef92 · 16/12/2020 17:41

@OnNaturesCourse yeah it is my first baby but the health visitor say the visit everyone on her patch whether it's first, second, third etc

Hubby is attempting to put the cot up tonight 🤣

Safxxx · 16/12/2020 18:37

@Stef92 goodluck to your hubby lol...
Mine is still redecorating our bedroom, so i can't set anything yet. Xxx

OnNaturesCourse · 16/12/2020 20:30

What are you putting in your hospital bag?

I took way too much stuff last time but can't for the life of me remember what it all was, also can't remember not using it all lol. Baby had a small bag, I had a carry case and DP had a rucksack of snacks and toiletries/undies etc (I thought it was weird to pack this but lucky we did cos I was in near a week!)

IamC · 16/12/2020 21:36

Has my 32 week scan and consultant apt this avo. My notes weren't up to date so I had the apt with my original consultant (I should have been transferred to a gestational diabetes specialist).

Anyway, he said because of my previous issues he would suggest inducing at 34 weeks 😬 but because of the GD they would like to keep baby in there longer as GD babies lungs may be underdeveloped at that stage.

First time I'm thankful to have GD!

Safxxx · 16/12/2020 21:40

@OnNaturesCourse i would use 2 bags, for the baby, 2-3 baby gros/body suits/mittens/hat...snowsuit (when leaving) blanket and a towel, baby toiletries and nappies/wipes/cotton wool/ nappy bags/nail cutter (as nails are quite big and Sharp) (or use mittens then cut them later at home) Also formula milk/bottles and soother.

For me...nightwear/gown/slippers/daytime clothes
Maternity pads/disposable briefs/breast pads, toiletries, towel. Snacks (lol)

Well incase i stay longer i'll have enough to see me thru, if not i'll bring them back lol
For 2 of my kids i stayed 1-2 nights
For the 3rd i stayed a week.
Usualy i would'nt stress as i'm not far from the hospital, because of restrictions i rather take what i need and alittle extra to be on the safe side.

Safxxx · 16/12/2020 21:43

@IamC that would be scary to have been induced at 34 wks (in 2 wks)
Hopefuly baby & you are well enough to last long as possible. Xxx

Oh wow, you can't be far off 34 weeks now? With your GD are they thinking let you go to term, or still induction early?

I'm about a hour each way from my hospital which is why I think I packed so much the first time cos I didn't want DP back and forth with anything I had missed.

I do remember now... Taking two boxes of maternity pads 😂 I think each box had 30 in them, I dunno what I was expecting but I clearly prepared for the worse case!

IamC · 16/12/2020 21:48

@OnNaturesCourse so it sounds like I'll either be induced or given a csection ahead of term. Depending on what my fibroid is doing.

But it's likely they won't let me past 37 weeks, but they will review at 35 weeks.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/12/2020 21:52

Oh wow.. How are you feeling about it all?

IamC · 16/12/2020 21:55

Not sure really. I was born at 32 weeks so already feel on standby, but defo want to get to 37. It's creeping up so fast!

Safxxx · 16/12/2020 22:23

@OnNaturesCourse haha that is alot of pads 🤣
Adding to the list box of tissues, or couple of pocket tissue packs.
Baby burp cloths/muslin cloths.

I still need to wash all the baby stuff 🙄

OnNaturesCourse · 16/12/2020 23:59

@safxxx why do you wash it all? I have never done that, I was going to with my first but then my dear Gran pointed out that babies skin can be very sensative and particular - so if baby was allergic or sensative to anything in my washing routine I'd need to rewash absolutely everything.

OnNaturesCourse · 17/12/2020 00:01

@IamC yes, I feel like that too. I have in my head that February is ages away but then I'm reminded its actually only 8 weeks or so until this boy is due. I think it's going to go really quickly once Xmas is out the way.

Safxxx · 17/12/2020 06:55

@OnNaturesCourse with my.other kids i have washed all their new clothes.
I usualy buy Fairy non bio detergent powder or liquid and the Fairy fabric conditioner.
I've not had any problems with their skin.
But i've had peace of mind knowing all is washed and ready to wear. Xxx

Stef92 · 17/12/2020 07:41

@Safxxx you're the second person in the last 24 hours who says we should wash the clothes before they wear them. I've never heard of this but I am a FTM. We'll probably wash them over Christmas then

Safxxx · 17/12/2020 10:42

@Stef92 i've always have washed the clothes, accessories and beddings.
Makes it all fresh and takes any stiffness out of clothes.
Also since this virus started i'm extra cautious, any clothes i buy for the family i wash them first. Xxx

OnNaturesCourse · 17/12/2020 14:08

Nahhh seems like too much work to me lol, plus my little one did end up being sensative to ANY fabric softener so luckily we hadn't washed her whole wardrobe! (FTM back then so we had her kitted out from newborn to age 2 lol)

Everyone is different though and I think doing what works for you is best.

I do have a dilemma now though as this baby is getting a lot of hand me down baby items from his older sibling (who grew out of her sensative skin around 6 months) so I don't know if I should rewash all the clothes and bedding as they've since been washed with fabric softener and I wonder if he will be the same with sensative skin to it.

I must admit it is nice seeing all the baby stuff freshly washed and hanging up drying especially when it's outside on a nice day.

Safxxx · 17/12/2020 15:06

@OnNaturesCourse if your little ones are prone to sensitive skin, then its always best to pre wash them.
My reason for washing is the chemicals from dyes and the shipping/handling and of course the time there been left on the shelves. Its always best to wash away anything lingering on them.
I always make sure i wash the babies clothes separately from others and only use non bio and suitable for sensitive skin.
Sometimes new clothes can cause itching and redness as i've found with my older kids, so i'm assuming must be from the chemicals used in process in making them etc.
Few times i've bought items and my son couldn't wait to wear them...after a few hours he would complain of itching/redness mostly on hes back/or legs.
So i've made it a habbit now to pre wash new clothes.
But like you said everyone's diffrent and you guys do what feels right 4 u 👍🏼

P.s you joking about laundry hanging outside? Lol
They never dry in this weather i stick all mine in the dryer. Xxx

OnNaturesCourse · 17/12/2020 18:02

I always hang out providing the ground is dry and sky is clear. The rest of the time it's the drier but I'm not a massive fan of the drier.

Safxxx · 17/12/2020 19:56

@OnNaturesCourse i agree nothing beats the fresh air outside for drying clothes.
But everytime i see clear skies, i hang the washing but they just don't dry as its still cold. Xx

Hi sorry to jump in to this thread I'm due in feb to and thought I'd ask a question that bothering me, and was wondering if you lovely ladies have a bit of advice or may be going through the same thing!

The last week I have been experiencing pressure in my lady area on and off and discomfort daily on the outta part hard to explain lol but where ur pubes are! When ever I get up and walk it hurts like I've pulled a muscle. Is this normal as didn't have it with my first. Any advice would be great. Thankyou.

Hope your all doing ok! Smile

OnNaturesCourse · 17/12/2020 21:35

Thought I'd run my latest thread past you ladies too...

"So, slightly embarrassing but I'd just been for a pee, wiped, stood up and as I turned to flush had a small trickle of liquid run down my legs. (it was enough to run quite quickly and hit the floor)

Now I'm pretty sure it's not pee as I'd just emptied and wiped. The liquid was a very very pale yellow though, but no pee smell from what I can tell.

It was quite a small amount so I'm thinking stick a pad in and see if any more comes out over the next hour or so?

What was it like when your waters broke? With my first they were burst for me and it was like a water fall, gush of really warm water that soaked the place.

I'm 32 weeks."

@charlou89 that sounds like the SPD I had in my first pregnancy.

Safxxx · 17/12/2020 22:03

@charlou89 yes i get that too, feel alot of pressure inside the area, and at times feels swollen.
Sometimes out of nowhere get a sharp pull makes me stop still with a OUCH
The pubic bone hurts too now & then.

Safxxx · 17/12/2020 22:05

@OnNaturesCourse could it be watery discharge?
Sometimes i feel quite wet like i've leaked, but its very watery discharge.
