Well currently being monitored for reduced movements first time up hospital 37+2 so far all fine

Babyhope98 · 24/11/2020 21:43

Glad all is looking well @Kj1010

kkr168 · 24/11/2020 22:01

Keep us posted @Kj1010

I had some mild contractions after today's sweep but they seem to have fizzled out

excitednerves · 24/11/2020 22:03

@danielasummer for boys we like Milo, Matteo (although there’s a Matheus in the family), Luca, Leo and Gabriel. For Girls, Rafaella, Giorgia, Beatrice, Serena, Bianca ans Giovanna

excitednerves · 24/11/2020 22:04

@PipTed I’ve had the same advice about waters bs discharge/urine. Change pad, lie down for 30 minutes, if it’s waters it will pool while you’re lying down so when you stand up you’ll get a gush/trickle. If it’s anything else, you won’t. Top tip in these late days.

excitednerves · 24/11/2020 22:06

Glad everything seems to be fine @Kj1010

@kkr168 how frustrating. Fingers crossed it’s the real deal soon!

Kj1010 · 24/11/2020 22:28

Back from hospital.all ok he started moving 10/15 mins after they found heart beat he is still breech which I think makes it harder for me to feel movements all the time midwife thinks he gonna stay put so only another 2 weeks and he be here outside safe thankgod

Nic2908 · 24/11/2020 22:40

Guys when you say pad for watets like a sanitary towel or a tens lady??

Babyhope98 · 24/11/2020 23:01

I put a sanitary towel on as that’s all I had. Don’t think it matters which just to see if you have fluid coming out or not @Nic2908

peachypetite · 24/11/2020 23:11

@Nic2908 mine absolutely gushed so I put on a huge maxi pad!

Jwl45 · 24/11/2020 23:18

@Lc86 @loobeelou yes. Mostly positive here. I started off latching wrong as nipples cracked but the cream Def helps and they are getting better. Lactation lady told me , pain for 5 sucks then should be pain free
Thanks for the advice.. x

peachypetite · 24/11/2020 23:26

@Kj1010 glad all okay.
@EithneBlue yep they’ve tried to help me and been great but baby still isn’t bothered. I’ve had a very emotional evening feeling extremely down about it Sad

peachypetite · 25/11/2020 02:29

@Jellycat2020 just saw your message. We also had several midwives sit with me and try and help for couple of days in the hospital and she didn’t latch once. We knew we wouldn’t be allowed home until she had had a decent feed so we asked for some formula and she was obviously really hungry. My breasts are feeling extremely heavy and tender tonight, I tried hand expressing earlier but nothing was coming out other than a few measly drops, so since we’ve come home she’s just had formula because with no latch she would literally be starving. I’ve had really leaky boobs all evening so hoping tomorrow I might have more luck. I’ve cried my eyes out several times today about the feeding, I’m feeling pretty down about it tbh.

LRHRN · 25/11/2020 03:40

Hi lovely ladies, congratulations to everyone who has their babes and welcome to all newbies.

In response to all your comments about breastfeeding, I'm another one who has struggled, finally got the hang only it now and my milks come in. 2nd night we had to use formula as my nipples were so sore, peeling and bleeding and I almost gave up but I kept collecting breast milk with a Hakka bottle and now she's alternating with expressed bottles and boob.
It's so hard but definitely worth it if you persevere xx
Lansinoh cream is an absolute god send ❤️

roro87 · 25/11/2020 05:08

Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies so lovely seeing all the news especially those who were on those very early threads feels like been there for the journey.

I'm still waiting and really not sure what to think. Have had a few rough days cramps, loose bowels, losing parts of my mucus plug, severe braxton hicks and lightening crotch constantly then last night everything stopped and I feel like I'm back to 33 weeks. Yesterday at one point I thought I was going to faint or get sick. I'm not due until Saturday though so I guess I'm just impatient. As a ftm it is so difficult to know what is a sign and what is just normal.

loobeelou · 25/11/2020 06:51

@peachypetite I'm sorry to hear you are having a tough time breastfeeding. Like I said, with DS, it didn't come easily to me. I had low supply and it was hard work to establish a supply that was enough to feed him. We dual fed from day 3 because his weight dropped more than 10%.

I cried so many times wondering what was wrong with me, why couldn't I do what was supposed to be so natural! Luckily I had a lovely midwife who was also a lactation specialist and talking to other mums, I found many had had problems in the beginning with breastfeeding. It didn't seem so 'natural' after all!

Try not to beat yourself up (easier said than done), you are doing great xx

Fed is best 😉

peachypetite · 25/11/2020 06:55

Thank you @loobeelou I’ve spent most of the night crying, baby blues have definitely hit me hard today.

excitednerves · 25/11/2020 07:46

@roro87 same here. DH and I “had an early night” last night, woke up at 3am with what turned out to be Braxton Hicks and now nothing. I was convinced that was it but sadly no. I hope it’s the rea thing soon for you, all those signs are positive! DS is at nursery today so I’m taking the opportunity to get a nice coffee, go for a walk and pop into a few shops, making the most of my freedom.

For everyone struggling with breastfeeding - I wish they told women it’s not just a case of “pop the baby on and away you go”. It’s a skill you both have to learn. I really struggled with my first (I highly recommend silver cups for sore nipples) and I’m hoping it’s going to be easier with my second. You will both get the hang of it but it’s not as easy as it’s made out to be.
Don’t beat yourself up for using formula, that’s what it was created for. I put myself under so much pressure to only breastfeed and pumped all day and night in between to get my supply up. I cried so much the first time I gave DS formula but OMG the relief that he wasn’t screaming with hunger anymore did so much for my mental health. I BF until 13 weeks, then combi fed and combi feeding was the best thing I ever did. Good luck, it’s such a difficult time when you’re exhausted, full or hormones and there’s so much pressure and judgement on how/what you feed your baby. Do what makes you and baby happy and forget everything else. X

kkr168 · 25/11/2020 07:47

@peachypetite have you got any nipple shields? Just wondering if she's taking from a bottle she may take to the shields, they are teat like.

Kj1010 · 25/11/2020 08:39

Morning all congrats on the births I'm sorry I cant help with the info on breast feeding as have never done it so am useless had a rough night of achy belly and peeing so not loads of sleep and have woken to still a achy belly I have to say which I never thought I would I'm not due till 13th December but am due to go in on the 7th for csection as this baby is high breech still and doesn't look like he gonna turn from midwife he looks pretty comfortable where he is lol and I've gotta say I cant wait to just get him out I am so uncomfortable now and with all the added niggles ie heartburn etc the 7 th cant come quick enough I am absolutely scared of having the csection but it's the safest way to get him here I know it will put me back a bit with healing resting getting back to normal etc but not much I can do about it just hoping I dont freak out on the day as I'm a very anxious/scared person

danielasummer · 25/11/2020 08:59

@Kj1010 have you looked into hypnobirthing? It might help with anxiety on the day as there are loads of techniques to help keep you calm.

Kj1010 · 25/11/2020 09:02

@danielasummer no I haven't will have to look

Jellycat2020 · 25/11/2020 09:06

@excitednerves exactly this! It's so frustrating! "oh babies know just what to do". Yes, some so but a lot don't and neither do the mums!
We've now had nearly 24hrs of bottle free and my husband and I feel like new people so I can only hope our little girl does too. She woke screaming at 7am this morning though and my heart sank but she was just incredibly hungry (even though she'd only had bottle 2hrs previously!). You just have to read their cues. She's now passed out, milk drunk 😊

Jellycat2020 · 25/11/2020 09:07

Sorry - should read 'bottle feeding'

peachypetite · 25/11/2020 09:09

@Kj1010 hypnobirthing was fantastic for me. I attribute my positive birth experience to it. I did the online course for £39 by positive birth company
