Congratulations on all these babies! Still waiting here. Drinking raspberry leaf tea, eating many dates, bouncing on the ball and nipple stimulation are my friends!

EithneBlue · 24/11/2020 16:19

Oh, that sounds like no fun @peachypetite - I hope the midwife is giving you some advice? If not I think La Leche and/or NCT can put you in touch with a breastfeeding consultant who might be able to help you - they're doing zoom sessions where they literally observe your boob as you feed and give tips :)

EithneBlue · 24/11/2020 16:20

@MummytoMatildaX - We have a list of boy and girl names that we both like (there are not many that we agreed on LOL) and will choose one once baby is here :-)

MummytoMatildaX · 24/11/2020 16:53

Lovely @EithneBlueStar Is this your first baby? When is your baby due? I feel like we had quite a few for each the first time! Not so many this time, and even though my daughter is only 16 months, there are names that I liked then, that I wouldn’t use now. Maybe also because we already have a Matilda and there are some names last time that just don’t sound right with her name? Maybe I’m just being silly! Hope you’re keeping well!

danielasummer · 24/11/2020 17:19

@excitednerves ahh bless you! It did worry me a bit as I was only 37+5 then had to swiftly remind myself that I am actually to term now and I want baby out ASAP now! Hope that if you do have an infection that it has cleared up. When are you due?

@MummytoMatildaX we have names for a boy and a girl :) We're pretty set on them but I guess if I hear something prettier we will go for it. They are Italian names as I'm Italian, husband is English, so have had to find names that are nicely pronounced in English too! x

EithneBlue · 24/11/2020 17:27

@MummytoMatildaX - Yeah first baby - it's already late: I was due on 21st so just hanging out waiting for the excitement to begin :-)

Jellycat2020 · 24/11/2020 17:40

Taken me a while to catch up with the forum news as we now have our little girl too! Eleanor Grace was born last Wednesday and she's perfect 😍
I started small but fairly regular contractions 5am Monday which ramped up pretty quickly and became so uncomfortable. We went in twice, sure that this was it but I was only 1-2cm dilated each time so went home. Then during Tuesday night, they got so much worse so went again and I was 5cm dilated! The pains were indescribable and after such a long but intense early labour phase, I was utterly exhausted so the birth plan went out of the window and I ended up on an epidural - bloody brilliant stuff! 😂 However baby wasn't playing ball and ended up with meconium in the waters, two episodes of severe bradycardia (to the point everyone comes in the room!) and had turned her head to cross the cervix not go down it. So it was forceps and episiotomy but thankfully she was born healthy at 4.50pm on Wednesday. We are so in love!

@peachypetite we have real latch issues too. She just won't do it. Every midwife on the post natal ward tried, the breastfeeding woman in the hospital tried to help and we've have midwife visits every day since we came home. We've been feeding EBM off a spoon, then a cup which takes 90mins per feed, every 3hours and its exhausting and traumatic. We've all really struggled this week. Unfortunately, she's lost over 11% bodyweight so we're now on a feeding plan. Thankfully I have loads of milk so have been expressing all over the shop! She's just had her first bottle feed though, which was our last resort, but she took it so beautifully, we're keeping fingers crossed for her next weigh in tomorrow. We will try to hopefully train her back to the breast in the future, but her welfare is more important at the moment.

MummytoMatildaX · 24/11/2020 18:12

Congratulations @Jellycat2020Star Such a beautiful name! Hope you’re both doing well! Hope baby makes an appearance soon @EithneBlue, our baby is due on Sunday, but our daughter was 13 days early so I just thought the same might happen again, obviously not! Oh lovely @danielasummer, my husbands great grandad was Italian (Our surname is Viola), none of the family have used Italian names! We did have some on our list with our first baby, but we chose Matilda. Hope you’ve been keeping well during pregnancy. X

excitednerves · 24/11/2020 18:16

@danielasummer yep, all good. Have had a clear test now so no more worries.

@MummytoMatildaX we have names too. Funnily enough we’ve gone for quite Italian names too! My husband is from Brazil and Italian names seem to work well in both English and Portuguese

excitednerves · 24/11/2020 18:17

@Jellycat2020 congratulations!

loobeelou · 24/11/2020 18:34

Congratulations @Jellycat2020, lovely name.

@MummytoMatildaX We finally agreed on a name for baby (DD) last week, she's due at the end of the year. I've liked it for a while just DH wouldn't commit 🤪 It goes well with DS name so I'm happy. Now we wait!

Dee96 · 24/11/2020 18:45

Congratulations @peachypetite @LRHRN & @Asianchick6693 seems like all the babies are wanting to make an appearance now. It's crazy remembering the first thread to this and now here we all are meeting our little ones what a long yet short feeling journey we've all been through! I hope your all recovering well and enjoying your newborns x

I've been struggling just a little bit at home. Dont want to put a damper onto all the lovely news lately but I just wanted to air it out. I feel guilty even writing this because matter of fact is both me and baby are here safe and sound but I cant help but feel really discontent and unhappy and I dont want it to get in the way of me and the baby. I love her to bits. I dont know If it's because of lockdown or my birth but it's really frustrating Sad

danielasummer · 24/11/2020 18:52

@MummytoMatildaX wow Matilda Viola is a gorgeous name! It goes so well. Would you and @excitednerves mind sharing the Italian names you had on your list? Can be for boys or girls :) I'm obsessed with names! Also @excited I'm glad your test came back clear.

@Dee96 I'm so sorry you're struggling. I'm a FTM so have not been in this position before but I would certainly contact your midwife or health care practitioner (or your GP) if you're feeling down. There are things they can do to support you and you shouldn't have to suffer alone. Thinking of you and hoping things improve x

loobeelou · 24/11/2020 19:11

@Dee96 hormone changes and fatigue will have a lot to answer for and lockdown won't be helping. I agree with @danielasummer, I would recommend you speak to your midwife / gp.

Hope you're feeling more yourself soon x

Babyhope98 · 24/11/2020 19:27

I’ve had the watery discharge again today don’t know if this is just a late pregnancy thing it’s just like one little bit not constant 😄 my triage is far so don’t want to go in if it’s nothing. Anyone else getting the same?

Also thought she’s been a little quiet today but I have got quite a few movements since dinner they feel different like not as strong don’t know if her positions changed as I feel them inside rather than my belly moving loads. I think it’s the frequency we should track rather than the strength of movements though?

danielasummer · 24/11/2020 19:55

@Babyhope98 I've had watery discharge too. I was pretty much told to wear a pad and if there is loads then to call labour ward. But maybe call your midwife tomorrow if it continues as she'll definitely be more informed than me! Also regarding movements, I have honestly no idea, as some days my baby is a little quieter than others, some days I feel and see kicks/rolls on the outside and other days I feel them internally, again I would mention it to midwife though. It's so hard being so responsible for something we can't even see! Wish there was a window so I could see that baby is ok!

MummytoMatildaX · 24/11/2020 19:58

Thanks @danielasummerStar When we started looking into Italian names, we had Alessio, Emilio, Giacomo and Luca for boys, for girls we had Alessia, Emilia and Giorgia x

lc86 · 24/11/2020 20:00

Oh @Dee96 I want to give you a hug. I had this on my first baby and didn't tell anyone for months!! So well done for opening up, even if this is the first place you've said it. Please please even speak to your partner/family. When I finally admit it it was like a weight had been lifted. It's totally normal to feel how you are and sometimes just talking about it and having a good cry/rant will do wonders xx

PipTed · 24/11/2020 20:03

@Babyhope98 yeah that’s really normal - I thought my waters were going this morning but it was a one off event. When I have asked my midwife what to look out for re: waters, she said:
If you feel a gush when you get up, change your underwear and put on a pad. Lay down for 30 mins and if you feel a gush or trickle when you get up check the pad-if it’s soaked or feels fuller it’s probably waters.

I did this today and the pad was dry. So put it down to watery discharge. Glamorous.

Jwl45 · 24/11/2020 20:05

Been away from the group these last few days .... Actually prob more ....
Congratulations to all the new mums....hope you're all enjoying every minute 😊 I am.... Although the last 2 nights, Elsi has been unsettled ... And has wanted the boob for hours ..... Enjoying the breast feeding although still painful at times.... Thank goodness for lansinoh!! I had chills and shivers the other night so I'm hoping it's not mastitis.... Hoping was just a dehydration thing as have been rubbish at keeping up with drinking fluids😏
Tonight slight pain on right side but hoping it's my rough handling when latching on.... the joys eh?

lc86 · 24/11/2020 20:11

@Jwl45 so good to hear people's experiences of breastfeeding so far.. I'm really anxious about it as wasn't successful with my first 2 babies and I'm determined to keep trying when this one is born. Midwife said it shouldn't be painful and if it is then the latch is wrong but surely it's going to be painful at first, it's someone constantly sucking on your nipple 🙊 I've also read that cluster feeding is really common the first few weeks, oh what fun lol xx

Babyhope98 · 24/11/2020 20:16

Yeah it wasn’t a gush I rang in just a little bit when I stand up. I rang in and they said to put a pad on it’s dry so far I think she’s fidgeting about on my bladder now she’s lower.. I’ve had it a few times over the last few days so was thinking maybe I shouldn’t have left it but looks like it’s just discharge/urine (delightful) 🥴 @PipTed

Yes to the window! 😄 I’ve felt her quite a bit now so not as worried I’m feeling it all quite low down think she’s burying her head 😅 @danielasummer

Babyhope98 · 24/11/2020 20:23

I’m feeling absolutely exhausted these last few days, keep thinking if I go in to labour don’t know how I’ll get through it 🤣

loobeelou · 24/11/2020 20:33

@Jwl45 I used to get night fever when breast feeding DS, it can be normal apparently 🤷🏻‍♀️ I remember when he would latch on it would be uncomfortable but it didn't last.

Cabbage leaves are good for blocked milk ducts and I recommend silver cups for cracked/sore nipples. Also the multi-mam nipple compresses (put them in the fridge before using).

Good luck breastfeeding, it didn't come 'natural' to me but we made it to 6 months. I plan to try again with DS 😊
