Congratulations to all you lovely new mummy's 💕
I love catching up with the thread and seeing everyone's baby news xx

So jealous of everyone who have had their babies! I’m 37+6 but getting impatient now haha I’ve been for a walk today and then stood ironing all in the hope of getting this baby moving! I’m so worried about induction at 39+1 if baby not already here so I just want her to come naturally before that. Don’t particularly want a stretch and sweep that’s arranged for this Thursday either but thinking I’d rather try that as be better than induction. And have to have a Covid test Monday in preparation for induction and I’m dreading that too. I just keep telling myself it will all be worth it when holding my baby!

EithneBlue · 23/11/2020 18:08

@alphabetti - Stretch and sweep sounds much worse than it is (and whatever you do, DO NOT look at a diagram): it was definitely weird and uncomfortable but not what I would describe as painful and over very quickly :-)

LRHRN · 23/11/2020 18:21

@alphabetti stretch and sweep isn't too bad and my cervix is really hard to get to.
The induction process depends on wether you are dilated already. I was and they broke my waters straight away left me for 2hrs then started the hormone drip which wasn't particularly nice as the contractions came on quite quickly and strong but you'll be absolutely fine. Everytime I had a contraction I just thought about my other 2 children meeting their new baby sister.
If you need to have a pessary be prepared to be in for a while as they can take 3/4 days to work.
If you think you will want an epidural ask for one before they put the drip in otherwise there won't be much time.
Hope this helps xxx

danielasummer · 23/11/2020 18:48

@alphabetti we're very close in due date, I'm 37+5 today and like you, feeling impatient! I've gone for a walk and have been bouncing on my ball pretty much all day. Come on now baby!!

I was just wondering why you've been offered a stretch and sweep this Thursday and an induction at 39+1? I haven't been offered either of these and wondering now if I should have been?

Thank you ladies for your advice. I just have never faced a stretch and sweep or induction before and just dreading it but at same time just want to meet my baby now.

@danielasummer I have diabetes and baby on 10th centile so they don’t want me to go further than 39weeks as baby’s growth might slow or placenta fail. She measured 5lb7oz at exactly 36weeks so I’m thinking she’s growing big enough as I’m small built and partner too but couldn’t live with myself if I refused induction and anything bad happened to her. Consultant wants to try stretch and sweep on Thursday as May encourage natural labour but also booked in induction.

I’m hoping it’s just a fear of the unknown I have and the fear worse than the reality!

@LRHRN yes I will definitely focus on the thought of bringing baby home to meet her older siblings and both mine and partners mums having a hard time right now but both so excited about this little baby so I will keep thinking how magical it will be to bring baby home and let everyone love her.

kkr168 · 23/11/2020 20:32

@lionsmum @peachypetite @Asianchick6693 congratulations on the births of your babies, I'm so jealous!

MsBee13 · 23/11/2020 20:39

Ladies, just to let you know that my partner is allowed to be with me from 9am till 7pm while being induced. They only did covid test for me. Once in active labour, he is allowed to be with me at all times. After baby is here, he will be allowed only 4 hours a day. I'm with Royal Free London xx

kiyaxx · 23/11/2020 22:06

I was bleeding light pink blood yesterday then in the evening A big gush of clear water flooded out of me so triage told me to come in as I thought my waters had broken. They did two speclums and told me there's water in there but my cervix was closed. I was so sure I was in labour... what is this that happened to me??

Wildtimes · 23/11/2020 22:53

Congratulations on all the new babies.
I'm currently in hospital waiting to be induced as I had some bleeding and they aren't sure if it's from mucus plug. Originally I was scheduled to be induced on Wednesday.

I'm already being induced. Been in hospital since 11am. Good luck xx

Good luck@MsBee13 & @Wildtimes
Can't wait to hear about your beautiful babies!!

MummytoMatildaX · 24/11/2020 00:10

Hi everyone!Star We are expecting our second baby on 29th Nov. Our daughter is 16 months, and I went into labour spontaneously at 38+1, so it has come as a bit of a surprise that I’m still pregnant, and now 39+2 with no signs at all other than some mild cramps here and there! Just enjoying these last few days (I’m hoping it’s days!) with our girl before our new addition makes his/her arrival.

I really hope to avoid induction, and have already decided that I don’t want a sweep. Trying to remain as active as I can and would like to try some natural ways to bring on labour, if there is such a thing.. maybe they’re really all just old wives tales!! Would love to know any hints and tips that worked for anyone? Good luck to you allSmilex

peachypetite · 24/11/2020 01:20

@MummytoMatildaX sex! You need oxytocin flowing

MummytoMatildaX · 24/11/2020 01:40

Thanks @peachypetiteStar Has this worked for you, as I see you’ve had your baby! Congratulations! Hope you’re both doing wellSmile

peachypetite · 24/11/2020 04:43

@MummytoMatildaX no my waters broke and I went into labour but my midwife said it’s the only thing. If you look into the science behind birth (I did hypnobirthing) there is a huge emphasis on the role of hormones.

LRHRN · 24/11/2020 05:47

Looking forward to hearing about the safe arrival of some more beautiful babes today 😬

For you mummy's who have had your baby's...
how are you finding it?
I feel like Nora has been here forever couldn't imagine it without her.
It's been abit of a blur the last couple of days as I'm breastfeeding this one (I didn't my other 2) so literally feel like she's been attached to me the whole time but we're getting there, my milks started coming in today so should make life a lot easier.
She's jaundice and only managed to pass meconium last night (40hrs after birth) which would of been a concern but she's making up for it now 😂

Hope you all have a fabulous day either with your babes or trying to get labour started ❤️

LRHRN · 24/11/2020 05:48

@peachypetite @lionsmum @Asianchick6693
Are you all home now with your beautiful bundles?
It's just the best feeling isn't it when they are here 💕

Have your baby's got names yet?

NatalieH2220 · 24/11/2020 06:43

Hi Ladies, I've been on and off the threads throughout and just wanted to let you know our little boy Charlie was born on 20th November @2.45pm. Labour was very quick so very intense and although we had to stay in overnight for monitoring after having meconium in my waters, we're home now and he's perfect 😍. Congratulations to those that have also recently had their little ones and Good luck to everyone still waiting 💕

loobeelou · 24/11/2020 08:56

Congratulations @NatalieH2220

Good luck @MsBee13 and @Wildtimes

Asianchick6693 · 24/11/2020 10:39

Hey guys thank you all for your lovely lovely messages. We decided to name our daughter Nabeela 💕 getting packed up to go home now. So so relieved. I hope everyone else is getting okay, and congratulations to any new births if I've missed any. Xx

excitednerves · 24/11/2020 10:46

Lovely name @Asianchick6693 glad you’re getting home already!

No news here. Still waiting. I’m going to go up and down the stairs as much as possible today - had planned on a walk but the weather is terrible here. Who else is still waiting? I think there must not be that many of us any more!

MummytoMatildaX · 24/11/2020 11:04

Congratulations @Asianchick6693 and @LRHRNStar Hope you and your babies are doing well! Thanks @peachypetite! I’ve tried some clary sage oil diluted in sweet almond oil and have been putting that on bump and acupressure points, it feels lovely but hasn’t had any effect as of yet! Sex... currently feeling like a whale but would still give it a shot over sweeps and induction! Here’s hoping he/she makes an arrival soon! x

EithneBlue · 24/11/2020 11:08

@excitednerves - ME. I AM STILL WAITING. I AM DONE WITH THIS.
My community midwife called this morning to try and cancel my 40 week appointment because I was already seen at the assessment unit this week. I told her where to stick that idea - I haven't been told anything about where I'm allowed to go for delivery, what happens when I go into labour, where to put my birth plan, what happens after 41 weeks... She rather reluctantly agreed that I could come in to talk things through.

excitednerves · 24/11/2020 11:28

@MummytoMatildaX my husband has taken it upon himself to sex this baby out of me. But last night I was really struggling with sciatica. Ironic that the one thing that might get baby out was the one thing I couldn’t even contemplate ha ha.

@EithneBlue I hear you! I am done too! How rude of your midwife. Now, more than ever, is when you just need someone to talk through the options and next steps. I haven’t seen a midwife yet as I’m under consultant care but the lovely dr I saw last week did his best to answer my questions.
