@LRHRN bless you, my back is hurting. I just feel like I don't know what to expect and what's the best way to encourage it to come sooner rather than later! How are you feeling right now?

Babyevictionimminent · 18/11/2020 16:12

@Asianchick6693 it sounds like I had a similar night to you. My contractions fizzled out by 9am and now I’m just getting hourly cramps. Also feeling very nauseated and have barely eaten today. I feel fairly confident I’ll labour tonight or tomorrow night. I hope the same for you!

LRHRN · 18/11/2020 16:15

@Asianchick6693 tbh I feel exactly the same about getting the baby out and this is my third baby. Believe what everyone says and the baby will come when it's ready.
You can try all the old wives tricks in the book but if baby doesn't want to come it's not coming.
A lot of first pregnancy's go past the 40week mark so don't be surprised if you pass your due date.
Everything sounds positive with your symptoms but they are early labour symptoms and doesn't mean it's imminent unfortunately. I've had the cramps, back pain, loss of mucus plug, diarrhoea, weigh loss, nausea, nesting and tiredness all over the past few weeks and was convinced I'd go into labour any day and I'm still here. My only silver lining is I know I'm being induced on Saturday.
My hips today are so painful and I feel like they cannot support my weight anymore, horrendous cramps and back ache and feel so sick, I don't think anymore fluid has come away yet but I've got that much watery discharge I wouldn't know. As long as my baby is still moving loads I'm not too worried and happy to wait until Saturday. Xx

LRHRN · 18/11/2020 16:15

@Babyevictionimminent when are you due?

LRHRN · 18/11/2020 16:16

@Asianchick6693 also expect the unexpected cause nothing ever goes to plan unless you're super lucky

Asianchick6693 · 18/11/2020 16:30

@LRHRN thanks so much for the tips! I guess all we can do is wait. All the best with your induction. You don't have long left now. My due date isn't for another 2.5 weeks so it should be fun waiting 😂 I feel like automatically time is dragging even more now but will try and find things to do to occupy my time. Xx

Babyevictionimminent · 18/11/2020 16:31

@LRHRN not due until the end of this month but I feel absolutely identical to the lead up to when I had DD. So fingers crossed...

I’ve heard third babies can often have very drawn out stop/start labours but hopefully it’ll be quick once you get going!

LRHRN · 18/11/2020 17:25

@Asianchick6693 yes this is the hardest but it's so slow 😫
@Babyevictionimminent not too long left then. Yes I've heard that third babies can act like first babies 🤷🏼‍♀️ my first was born at 39weeks spontaneously so hopefully she will come naturally before Saturday but if not I'll just have to deal with the induction.

I didn't know this but a midwife told me today that you can request a sweep on your due date. They don't tell you this and most only offer at 41 weeks. Just a useful bit of info to avoid going 2 weeks over

kkr168 · 18/11/2020 17:56

@LRHRN My midwife is giving me a sweep 2 days before my due date, then if it doesn't work she's got time to do 1-2 more before I go down the induction route.

I've been bouncing away on my ball each night whilst watching I'm a celebrity get me out of here, trying to get things moving!!

LRHRN · 18/11/2020 18:12

@kkr168 that's amazing, mine never even mentioned being able to have one early. It was one at the hospital who said it xx

Babyhope98 · 18/11/2020 18:33

Oh I’m going to ask my midwife if she’ll give me a sweep next week it’ll be two days before my due date as that’s the only day clinic runs fingers crossed 😆

Asianchick6693 · 18/11/2020 18:41

@Babyevictionimminent sorry only just saw your reply! How are you feeling right now? I've also been feeling really cold today. Baby's movements also make me feel uncomfortable. I've had a lot of problems with PGP this pregnancy but all of a sudden it seems like all the pain and soreness is focused on the bottom of my bump.

peachypetite · 18/11/2020 18:53

I’m not sure how I feel about sweeps. It seems like they only work if your body is ready to go into labour anyway? Plus the risk of introducing infection or breaking waters. I’m really really wanting this baby to come naturally. Terrified about the prospect of induction too.

loobeelou · 18/11/2020 19:03

I've been told nipple massage/simulation is good for increasing oxytocin levels. That and a friend recommended eating dates 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wonder how @december2020 is doing. Hope all ok x

Babyevictionimminent · 18/11/2020 19:05

@Asianchick6693 that all sounds so promising. I remember feeling cold before labour with my DD. Nothing would warm me up! I’m still feeling very sicky and in the last hour feel like cramps are picking up again. I’m too scared to tell anyone in real life that I think it’s starting because I have this ridiculous notion that if I say it’s happening it will all stop!

Asianchick6693 · 18/11/2020 19:14

@Babyevictionimminent aww bless you! I kind of feel like that myself now. I've been living with my in laws and bless my MIL has been checking up on me all day but I feel like I have nothing new to tell her. I'm all cosied up in bed right now catching up on I'm a celeb. My cramps have been coming and going too. I'm having a toffee nut latte from starbucks, its the only thing I was feeling right now although I'm not sure that's wise.

EithneBlue · 18/11/2020 19:35

@loobeelou - I also keep hearing about eating dates but I actually love dates and have eaten them throughout so not sure they'll make a difference now!

@peachypetite - I have a sweep booked on Tuesday if baby isn't here before then (it's actually my 40 week appointment but at 40+3) - seems normal practice where I am but my midwife told me I could decide on the day whether I actually want it. I probably will go for it though as being overdue is not what I want and I would like to encourage baby out before an induction is necessary. I think. I might change my mind closer to the time!

Babyevictionimminent · 18/11/2020 20:26

@Asianchick6693 time will tell if you see that latte again Grin I’ve only had a milkshake this evening and now regretting it because it will be horrible if it comes back up!

I’m cramping loads now and scared to get up because I know they’ll come on stronger. Going to bite the bullet soon though and hopefully have a baby!

december2020 · 18/11/2020 20:56

Hi everyone! Just reading through the thread now!
Had a wild couple of days!
My bloody show appeared Tuesday morning and then everything subsided around Tuesday afternoon and I was supposed to be discharged Wednesday morning.
Started getting crazy back pains Tuesday evening which the day assessment unit put down as an infection (most likely UTI).
They gave me some morphine and told me to get some sleep. Each time I buzzed they seemed to get a bit fed more up with me saying the only other thing they can do is inject morphine.
I ended up using the bathroom bathtub and just lay there trying to manage the pain. Finally buzzed them at 4.30am today and they called a doctor for code red as couldn't determine what was wrong with me.

Doctor checked me out, was 6cm dilated with no pain management, gas and air for the rest of it and Stellan was born early this morning at 36+1.
Really easy birth (he shot out in 40 mins) with good recovery. We're spending the night at the ward so they can keep an eye on him as he's come early but everything is looking well and hopefully we get to go home tomorrow.

Otherwise he's a very chill and happy baby!
