With the visitors we let the parents and our siblings visit in the first week and that was it - even that was hard going sometimes as there are lots of midwife visits the first week as well. I think Covid is the perfect reason to limit / restrict visits as you need to you can say for example one person per day and for no more than an hour etc as you don't want to put the baby at risk. I've also done a couple of video calls with the parents too on WhatsApp and Messenger so they can see her and get a wee update on how she is without physically coming to see her.

Snowwhite2020 · 16/11/2020 17:56

Good thinking @NaomiB79. Hope you’re keeping well and little one good xx

loobeelou · 16/11/2020 18:08

Best of luck @december2020

december2020 · 16/11/2020 20:01

Thank you everyone! It's really reassuring and amazing to have you all during all this! ❤️

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow! No dilation yet, but it's definitely progressing and getting soft and the mucus plus and bloody show is there.
They're not concerned yet and don't see a need to intervene, it looks like latent labour, a bit earlier than expected.

Hopefully all good results tomorrow AM and then I can go home to labour in peace. All I want to do is float in my bath and lie in my bed naked. 😂

Kj1010 · 16/11/2020 20:39

Oh wow @December2020 your only 2 days behind me I'm 36+2 tomoz well I hope all goes in right direction for you please keep us updated when you can x

Snowwhite2020 · 16/11/2020 21:09

How exciting @december2020! Good luck xx

lc86 · 16/11/2020 21:20

@december2020 aww wow!! So many little ones starting to make an appearance now.. hope everything goes smoothly ☺️

MsBee13 · 16/11/2020 21:27

Hi ladies, any of you experiencing shooting pain in cervix? Tonight after having a bath, I started having them non-stop. Do you think if might be a start of something? X

Nic2908 · 16/11/2020 22:20

@december2020 fingers crossed for a blessed and settled night for you.

Snowwhite2020 · 16/11/2020 22:26

@MsBee13 I’ve had this on and off for the last couple of weeks. I’ve just assumed it’s a sign the baby’s head is really low... xx

peachypetite · 16/11/2020 22:29

My back is killing me!! @december2020 how are you doing? @MsBee13 I’d assume baby is low and pressing on nerves.

MsBee13 · 16/11/2020 22:30

Thank you ladies, at least go to know baby's head is down where it should be xx

NaomiB79 · 16/11/2020 23:36

@december2020 thinking about you, I hope all goes well with your labour x

LRHRN · 17/11/2020 07:08

@MsBee13 YES!! and it is horrendous, mine is non stop. Apparently it's a good sign though as it means baby's head is pressing on your cervix making it soft and ready for labour.
Google "lightning crotch" it will explain more xx

Kj1010 · 17/11/2020 08:08

Morning all had a rough night woke needing a wee but then got very very bad period type cramp pain in my womb pelvic area it stayed for like 10 minutes before subsiding then just cudnt sleep properly I feel a little uncomfortable around that area also now so I dunno if baby moved position or what glad I have consultant today just to mention it i actually thought maybe it cud be a sign of early labour was not nice and has reminded me of the painful time coming up lol

peachypetite · 17/11/2020 09:36

To the ladies who have recently had their babies, do you think a dressing gown is necessary or will we be okay with nightie/pjs?

alphabetti · 17/11/2020 10:03

I haven’t had this baby yet (36weeks today) but with my older 2 I took dressing gown and will take one this time too. With my oldest 2 I was close to delivery by time went to hospital so wore it over my pjamas I already had on. I just felt kept me feeling wrapped up and cosy afterwards and I always feel cold, plus this time hospitals may be a bit more ventilated so I think it may be colder.

alphabetti · 17/11/2020 10:04

Just re read I’m 37 weeks today - feeling fed up now with tiredness and lots of pressure down below so feeling excited that am classed as full term now!!

lc86 · 17/11/2020 10:23

@peachypetite I took a lightweight dressing gown with my first two and plan to do the same this time, just nice to feel a bit more covered up when going to the toilet etc x

Amyyy1 · 17/11/2020 10:30

@peachypetite I haven't had my baby yet but been in hospital for extended stays quite a few times during this pregnancy and I found a dressing gown quite nice especially when wandering around the ward at night to use the loo etc. Wasn't needed as much when in labour rooms as they had en-suites but when I was on the post natal ward it felt nice to be a bit more clothed rather than just pjs!

peachypetite · 17/11/2020 10:55

My dressing gown is cream coloured and thick and fluffy, definitely not a colour you want to wear post birth and it’s so thick I wouldn’t be able to fit it into my bag. Might see if I can find something cheap on eBay!

LRHRN · 17/11/2020 10:56

@peachypetite I think it's personal preference I didn't take one with my last 2 and I'm not with this one either but I'm always really warm. The pjs I'm taking are long sleeve and long leg and abit more like loungewear so can pass as clothes really.
If you've already got one it may be worth packing it but I wouldn't worry about buying one especially.

Everyone is getting so close now and it's actually dawned on me this morning that I'm having my baby this weekend 😬 just hope this week goes quickly, I've double checked my hospital bag, car seat base is fitted, Moses basket has been bought downstairs so I'm 100% ready now.
This is probably going to be the last pic I take of my bump 😬 to think that this time next week it's going to a wobbly mess isn't a great feeling 🤣

peachypetite · 17/11/2020 11:00

@LRHRN yes I do have some nice black pyjamas that aren’t skimpy. Only thing is I guess it might be worth having a more practical dressing gown for recovering at home anyway than pale...

Kj1010 · 17/11/2020 11:38

@peachypetite I was wondering the same do u dont u take a dressing gown it is so hard with covid aswell as all I keep hearing etc is that aslong as all goes ok whether it's normal or csection they have u out within 24 hours so I think oh dont wanna pack like I cud be in for a few days but then think dont want to under pack incase u have to stay in for a few days and they dont let partners up etc

confused107 · 17/11/2020 11:53

Just catching up on all the posts. Lovely to see the birth announcements. Congratulations all!

My hospital bag is 95% there and I use the term 'bag' loosely as it's actually a suitcase! I had a list of stuff from my antenatal class (including a light weight dressing gown) which I've included and it soon filled up. Stuff like nappy's, maternity pads and milk just in case really take up space. I also know I'm going to be induced so I'm likely to be on my own for a while. Thought it would be less stressful to know I have everything that easily fits in one case and can be pulled along if I'm moved rather than a couple of smaller bags where things can get lost or I'm struggling to squeeze things into in a hurry.

I do feel a little silly due to the size, but apparently lots of people have cases and I would rather look a bit silly than be stressed about not having everything
