@LRHRN that's another thing. Not only do you want to avoid medical intervention when it's not necessary but the idea of staying in especially during covid makes it worse. I read on the leaflet given, that the reason why they are choosing to start with the foley tube first which usually isnt advised for ftms is because of covid, so I'm assuming it's because they want to pick the fastest moving option rather than what's actually is best for us pregnant ladies. Just the sound of having something inside you that forcibely stretches you out to 3cm within a matter of minutes makes me want to cross my legs. Theres no chance for oxytocin and just alot of promise for pain. I'm just hoping she makes an appearance but I've got today and tomorrow and its seeming more and more unlikely. It's really getting me down.

peachypetite · 13/11/2020 10:42

@Dee96 when is your due date?

LRHRN · 13/11/2020 10:53

@Dee96 ooh that sounds brutal, I've never even heard of that. I don't even know how to advise you but what I will say is it's your choice and don't feel pressured. My granny had my dad naturally and he was 13lb 12oz 😂
You hear of lots of women having big babies and over the years the average size of babies have gotten bigger 8-9 1/2lb seems pretty average nowadays

peachypetite · 13/11/2020 10:56

just to reiterate you don't have to, also bear in mind NHS will often advise on what is cheapest for them, not best for mum. If it were me I would park any decisions until due date.

jalu47 · 13/11/2020 11:00

@Babyhope98 - yep they came through yesterday and they are all clear. Still got horrendous itching at night though! Seeing the consultant on Tues and will bring it up - apparently the itching can be an early sign and it manifests a little later.. I'm not too worried as really don't have long to go and hopefully doc will just do another set of bloods on Tuesday as a double check.

Babyhope98 · 13/11/2020 11:04

They do mine weekly and I think that’s the guidance, so even if they come up clear they can come up later so they should keep taking them if you are continuing to itch @jalu47

Babyhope98 · 13/11/2020 11:08

I’m considering getting a breathing monitor for the baby like the snuza hero for peace of mind, anyone else going to?

Nic2908 · 13/11/2020 11:16

@jalu47 last time I was in hospital I over heard a midwife advising someone with severe itching to shower with the mint original source shower gel because it gives that cooling effect.

Nic2908 · 13/11/2020 11:17

You could even do it little footpath with it for your feet if its mainly your feet.

cherryappl · 13/11/2020 11:45

I'm having a c section next week and it only just hit me this morning I'm really really scared 😭😭😭😭😭

jalu47 · 13/11/2020 11:56

thanks @Nic2908 - we use that shower gel but always get the lemon one! Maybe i'll chuck a mint one in the shopping order!

Pinktruffle · 13/11/2020 12:00

@cherryappl my section is scheduled for a week today so I know how tou feel. Part of me is scared witless, the other part of me wants the baby here right now as I feel like I spend all my time worrying whether it's ok in there

cherryappl · 13/11/2020 12:07

@Pinktruffle wow! We're having one the same day 😅😂 I was fine before because I never really properly thought about it just shoved it to the back of my mind and thought if I don't think about it and just get it over with it will be fine. I'm 20 and a first time mum. but now it's getting closer to the day And it's real like I'm actually going to be cut open and I'm the biggest wuss ever I cry at everything it's the feeling afterwards like the recovery that I'm getting scared about and I'm so squeamish I won't even be able to look down there until it's fully healed. By the way.. have you ever heard of c panty??? I came across it online it apparently makes you more comfortable and speeds up recovery don't know whether I should get it or not

Pinktruffle · 13/11/2020 12:07

@Babyhope98 I've been thinking of getting ome of those too. I've been looking online and reviews look really good. DH is worried it is a bit bulky though so still a little undecided. I don't know whether to just go for something like the Angelcare movement/baby monitor as its two in one for £50 extra

cherryappl · 13/11/2020 12:08

I am exited to have my baby out of my belly and just being able to hold her that's what's keeping me from having a mental break down right now lol

Pinktruffle · 13/11/2020 12:16

@cherryappl I'm a FTM too but have a few years on you, which makes me worry about how I'll recover as you aren't as resilient as you get older. I've never had any kind of surgery before and the more I think about it, the more I feel a bit freaked out at being cut - but I'm putting it to the back of mind as this baby has to get out somehow!

I've heard of the pants, I haven't bought any as I've read that wrapping the belly has a similar effect and I have a pregnancy support band already so will try that. I've also got some Arnica tablets which I've heard can help with healing so will begin taking those on the weekend. I'm taking my own paracetamol and Ibuprofen in my maternity bag too so I can stay on top of my pain relief if the midwives aren't available. I've got some big pants too but think I may have bought a size to small but not much I can do now. There is some really useful advice on old threads on here such as putting a maternity pad on the inside of your pants for comfort etc. Take a look if you get chance

Dee96 · 13/11/2020 12:22

@peachypetite 24th of November so not far off now

Dee96 · 13/11/2020 12:25

@LRHRN 13?! Wow credit to your granny if she can do that I think anything's possible! Thanks for the advice I'm going to have serious think tonight and maybe ring up another hospital for a second opinion. My care has been so rubbish I've been thinking about referring anyways, it just being so close to my due date made me apprehensive but at this point I dont think I have anything to lose

Babyhope98 · 13/11/2020 12:46

I think the Angelcare is on sale atm on Argos for same price as Snuza. I’m edging towards the Snuza though as like you said has really good reviews whereas the Angelcare doesn’t have as many.. But I don’t know if that’s because Snuza is cheaper @Pinktruffle

cherryappl · 13/11/2020 13:01

@Pinktruffle what are arnica tablets??

Pinktruffle · 13/11/2020 13:10

@Babyhope98 The Angelcare is only a movement monitor, I like the fact that Snuza specifically tracks breathing. I wonder how the logistics would work, do you clip it on once baby has fallen asleep? Will that mean undressing them?

@cherryappl Arnica is a herbal supplement which aids with healing, stops brushing etc. You can buy it either in cream or tablet form though cream isn't recommended for C-section. Have a look on Amazon, that's where I got mine from.

kkr168 · 13/11/2020 15:32

I think the owlet sock looks more baby friendly, the snuza looked uncomfortable to me, the owlet is so expensive though!

Snowwhite2020 · 13/11/2020 16:04

Hope all is going well with you today @Sheera1. Thinking of you! Xx

Babyhope98 · 13/11/2020 16:33

@Pinktruffle I’m not sure how it works tbh..
Yes the owlet looks good but is way too pricey I can’t justify that @kkr168

MsBee13 · 13/11/2020 18:41

@Sheera1 I hope all went well today and you are already holding your baby xx
