@Fizzl fantastic news! Your well on your way now 🥰🌈

OMG @Leok8387 ! Amazing nursery action! Love it!

ChampooPapi · 07/02/2021 09:07

Sorry a bit behind here!

@kkr168 gorgeous gorgeous boy. So glad he's thriving and your obviously doing a completely splendid job with him, he is very lucky to have such a brilliant mum 🥰

ChampooPapi · 07/02/2021 09:08

@Ejb86 yay to the birthing pool! 😍

ChampooPapi · 07/02/2021 09:08

Also @Fizzl I'm guessing baby boy 💙

Fizzl · 07/02/2021 10:26

Ah we caved (well actually I slipped up 🤦🏼‍♀️ and we realised there was no way we'd be able to keep this up until June!) so we've told family and friends now.

It's a girl 💕 😄

@SunnySideUp2020 this is exactly the dilemma we have! If it's a winter baby it seems simple and you plan for it being cold. Summer in the UK is so unpredictable! Think we're just going to buy a few bits and then buy the rest once she's born and we know what the weathers like and how big she is. Such a minefield 🤦🏼‍♀️

scrumdiddly123 · 07/02/2021 16:03

Congratulations @Fizzl another girly to add to our mumsnet clan 😀
@MilsCookie sorry you’re having a tough time with your girls, it sounds very stressful 😞 hope things improve soon for you all x
I hope everyone else is well. All good here. Got my next growth scan next week so looking forward to see baby again! Got to see the consultant after though which I’m not looking forward to as assuming they will suggest induction which I’m going to decline 😬 so that’ll be fun! Looking forward to half term and a week for work to get things organised as we still don’t have anything ready!

scrumdiddly123 · 07/02/2021 16:04

*off work!

MilsCookie · 08/02/2021 11:54

Hey everyone,

Yayyyy @Fizzl I'm so relieved for you that everything looked perfect at the 20 week scan! And I had a feeling you were having a girl! 😍 you're over halfway now!! Hope you can start relaxing and enjoying being pregnant a bit more now 😊

@Whiffle77 so glad things have settled down a bit for you now. I'm also now obsessed with nap times and making sure they get enough sleep during the day. I've noticed it makes a massive difference to how easily they sleep at night!

@SunnySideUp2020 what did you think of Gina Ford? I have the twin version of that book (on @ChampooPapi 's recommendation) I have started following her routines loosely, the only thing I struggle with now is them staying awake for as long as she suggests!

Glad all is well with you @scrumdiddly123 why will they suggest an induction?

We've seen a huge improvement with the girls since they were put on a totally cow's milk protein allergy formula (Neocate). They were like different babies within 24 hours! They have that along with gaviscon in every feed and it seems to help. Really hoping it continues this way! They're 11 weeks old today... I can't actually believe where the time has gone! We're getting more and more smiles now and they're a lot more alert/able to focus on things 🥰

scrumdiddly123 · 08/02/2021 21:28

@MilsCookie baby is measuring on the top of the chart and estimated to be around 10lb at 40 weeks so I think they’d be reluctant to let me go over my due date! But will see how things are looking on Wednesday.
I’m so pleased the new formula is helping your girls! Must be such a relief for you ☺️
11 weeks already that’s crazy, it just goes too fast xx

Leok83 · 10/02/2021 07:52

@Fizzl such amazing news ur having a little girl 💖 another little lady to add to the list!!

@scrumdiddly123 oh lord that would be a big baby 10lb!!! I'd definitely be wanting the induction!!

I've my scan today to see if placenta has moved out of the way (hoping they won't be telling me I've a huge baby either😄)

@MilsCookie im so happy for you that your ladies are doing better on the formula..you definitely needed the respite so hopefully it's all uphill from here! xx

scrumdiddly123 · 10/02/2021 07:55

@Leok83 my last two babies were close to 9lb so it doesn’t worry me too much 😬😂good luck for your scan, let us know. Mine is at 11 so will update later- got loads of snow here so dreading the drive! x

SunnySideUp2020 · 10/02/2021 08:28

@MilsCookie glad your girls are responding well to the new formula 🥰
Gina ford... still reading... but so far i find it very informative but a bit rigid. I doubt it works for all babies/household!
I will take it as a guide for inspiration not necessary to follow each and every aspect.
But yeah lots of useful info!!!

@scrumdiddly123 @Leok83
Good luck with your scans ladies!!!
Let us know how it goes :)

My last (and only) scan is on 23rd... just to check baby position/growth and placenta function and then plan a birth (as much as you can plan it).
I think mine is a small one though. My belly was measuring 30cm at 30 weeks and i know some of it is Nutella 🤣

@scrumdiddly123 do you have a history of being overdue? Did you have any trouble with your big babies before?

Leok83 · 10/02/2021 17:25

@SunnySideUp2020 @scrumdiddly123 thanks ladies, scan went really well😊 he's measuring approx 5lb 7 now which she says is normal and placenta has moved to right place, his head is down and spine facing anterior (which I think is good!) so he looks like he's setting himself up the right way to get out😄 his tummy is a little on the larger side she said but nothing abnormal and apparently she could see some hair at the back of his head!!
So no more scans now..just wait and see what happens!

@scrumdiddly123 how did ur scan go? Hope all's good!

SunnySideUp2020 · 10/02/2021 17:30

Sounds very positive @Leok83 !
Hopefully he stays put head down and OA position 🙏
Crazy that they can see hair!!!!

Can't wait for this batch to finally arrive!

scrumdiddly123 · 10/02/2021 17:51

Great news @Leok83 how many weeks are you now? My scan went ok too thanks, was lovely to see her again ☺️
She’s head down too after being breech at the last scan and could see her playing with her feet! she’s still measuring big with tummy and head both over the 95th centile. Her estimated weight is 4lb 12oz at 31 + 5 so still near the top of the chart. Because of this they went to repeat the diabetes test (which I had at 28 weeks and was normal) and bring me back for another scan at 36 weeks. I’m not at all concerned as think she’s just going to be big like my others, but feeling a bit overwhelmed/ stressed with the whole thing as just want to be left alone and not have to keep dragging to hospital.
@SunnySideUp2020 no I haven’t gone overdue before (well my third was 40+1 so only just) and I delivered them all naturally with no issues whatsoever. The consultant did say today that he would think it unlikely
For me to go overdue this time so not to be too concerned about her weight, but they would potentially offer me induction a few days before my due date x

Leok83 · 10/02/2021 18:14

@scrumdiddly123 that's great all looks good! Sounds like you've nothing to be worried about with her size especially given previous big babies plus I think these later scans can be a bit off for estimating weight anyways. I'm 34 weeks now so only a couple weeks ahead and given they are supposed to put on about 1/2lb a week (I think!) doesn't seem like my little man is far off the size of ur baby! I'm just hoping I don't go over to allow him to keep piling on the weight!! I have measured ahead at every scan from the beginning and def ovulated day/2 earlier that cycle than what they have down, plus think I'd a pretty early implantation given how strong my BFP was at 9 days so I'm hoping all that means I won't go too far over..not sure if there's science to that but i like to think there is! I'm definitely hitting the raspberry tea and medjool dates now too😂

@SunnySideUp2020 ya it's mad about the hair! Wasn't really expecting any as if the old wives tale is to be believed I've had less heartburn during pregnancy than I'd have normally when not pregnant! So was expecting a little baldy..she did say the back so I'm still not expecting a big head of hair😄

Final 2 days of work coming up now so it's all getting so real! Have made a start on the hospital bags but I can't seem to figure am I supposed to put toiletry bag in my labour bag or post natal bag? Anyone have any insight on this?

scrumdiddly123 · 10/02/2021 18:27

Oh meant to add a pic of her from today! 😍 still can’t believe there’s a real person in there, it’s so surreal!
Yes @Leok83 I think it is half a pound a week from now so sounds like your little boy will be a good weight too 🥰 love a chubby baby! That’s exciting you’re almost done at work! I have next week off as half term then 5 more weeks!
I would probably put toiletry bag in your postnatal bag unless there’s anything you’re specifically planning on using in labour. My job for next week is to make a start on mine!

SunnySideUp2020 · 10/02/2021 19:11

Good news for you too @scrumdiddly123
Would love a chubby girl but my vagina might not. 🤣

I am sure it will be ok with yours. You've done it before and sound confident and calm which is half the job done ✔

@Leok83
Is there such a thing as labour bag and post natal?...
Is it not the one bag?
What do you put in each?
Will do mine at the end of the month when my incontinence pads have arrived 😅

SunnySideUp2020 · 10/02/2021 19:13

Anyone got nursing bras yet?
The shops for clothes are closed here and won't reopen it seems for a long time...
I cannot try any.
So i am a bit lost as to how to purchase a bra.

Leok83 · 10/02/2021 19:35

@scrumdiddly123 aw such a lovely scan pic!! I brought mine home and DH hadn't a clue what he was looking at so def not worth posting! Ya I wasn't sure about toiletries as I've heard some midwives say in ur post natal bag but antenatal class last week she said labour bag..then have heard of some ladies in labour > 24 hours and thought it'd be nice to brush teeth etc if that did happen!! Although maybe that'll be the last thing on ur mind in labour..feel like I know nothing about the whole process!!

@SunnySideUp2020 ya it's recommended to take a labour bag first (for hospitals here anyways..not sure if it's same where you are) with few nightdresses for labour, baby's 1st outfit including nappy, t shirt for DH to change into after, few large pairs of underwear, maternity pads, snacks, ear phones, warm socks, slippers, water bottle, light dressing gown. Have a tens machine in there too, prob forgetting other things!
Labour ward is too small so they don't want it cluttered with big bags so recommend taking a tote size bag and then after delivery when moved to post natal ward you take in ur bigger bag with few more PJs, more maternity pads, breast pads/nipple cream, more underwear (I've some large and some disposable..not sure which will be best!), nursing bras, flip flops. And then towel and toiletries I wasn't sure which bag to put these in but will prob put in big bag now so. For baby they recommended couple cellular blankets..6-8 babygros/vests. Couple hats, mittens if not built into babygro. Pack nappies, towel. I've packed all outfits individually in zip lock bags with nappy in each and then some spare nappies..all on recommendation of others on a FB group I'm on! I'm prob missing loads more here too! Also have to pack going home outfit at same time now as after birth DH not allowed in again. Will have to meet him at door of hospital to go home so have to try squeeze all that in too..There will be a lot of packing and unpacking to get it all to fit!!
Re nursing bras I have struggled to get some that fit..I'm an A cup and they only start in B and all that I've got are far too big..hope they grow and fill out when milk comes in! Got some in H&M decent prices. But given I'm small chested I don't tend to spend much on bras as don't really need the support or anything.
Sorry for long post..fair play if you made it to the end of that spiel 😄

SunnySideUp2020 · 10/02/2021 20:49

I have!!!! @Leok83

Very helpful thank you!
So because of covid i need to have one bag. Once admitted neither i nor DH will be allowed outside the ward...
And no family live close by to bring stuff.
So my labour and postnatal bag will be the same.
Good idea the zip bags with each outfit. Although not sure i have that many babygros in newborn size. 😅

SunnySideUp2020 · 10/02/2021 20:50

You might want some towels though in your labour bag? If you go in the pool or need refreshing?

@AlviesMam that’s such a lovely book, can I ask where you got it from? Would be a beautiful addition to our book collection and help us to talk to George and baby about their sisters in the stars.
