Thank you @Fizzl 🥰. I can't believe your twenty week scan is next week! So exciting!

ChampooPapi · 26/01/2021 14:42

@Fizzl are you finding out if your having a girl or a boy? Or have I missed the update on that? Did you get the nipt test I can't remember? You'll be half way through in a few days practically, this is epic!

BecsterG · 26/01/2021 20:12

@TerribleImagination doh you've mentioned the name. Very cute.

I know you lose hair once you've had a baby and I did with my first Max but OMG every time I was my hair so much is coming out. I'm surprised there's any left. Anyone else losing masses of hair?

How's the sleep going ladies? Just was 4 months yesterday and he's now waking once a night and doing 7-7:30/8 so I'm feeling a lot more refreshed although the passed few nights he's woken up 6 as he's done a poo! I change him and put him back to bed and he always sleeps but zzz so annoying!

Ah congratulations and well done @TerribleImagination! She is beautiful and lovely name too.

@ChampooPapi I know I can't believe we're almost half way! we think we're going to find out but possibly keep it a secret from everyone else 😄 which is not making us very popular at the minute because family desperately want to know 😂 we will probably cave and end up telling them but we think it will be nice to keep it as a surprise! They don't agree...

We didn't bother with the nipt test in the end. The results for edwards and pataus was 1 in 1000000 it was only the downs test which was on the higher end but still well within low risk (can't even remember exactly what it was now I've stopped worrying about it!) and we decided we wouldn't end the pregnancy if baby had downs anyway so we were happy to not go with the nipt.

Leok83 · 26/01/2021 22:54

Ah wow @TerribleImagination congratulations!!! She's absolutely adorable 🥰 !! And 4 days..my god poor you!!

mlax · 27/01/2021 16:34

Congratulations @TerribleImagination and such a lovely name too 🥰

MilsCookie · 28/01/2021 22:40

How are you doing @TerribleImagination? Have you guys made it home yet? 💕

TerribleImagination · 29/01/2021 04:59

@MilsCookie We have! Yeaaaay! Came home
Wednesday evening, so I’m now being monitored by the community midwives for pregnancy related hypertension basically. I’m on BP tablets, but hoping it settles soon.

Absolutely loving being home with little Daisy. She’s just such a joy 😍❤️ I don’t even care that I’m wide awake feeding her now at 5am, cos I get to look at her face ❤️ DP is absolutely besotted with her too - this little newborn love bubble really is the best isn’t it? ❤️❤️❤️

How’s everyone else doing? xx

SunnySideUp2020 · 29/01/2021 08:41

Aaaaww @TerribleImagination
Such a lovely update 💕💕💕 bet you are mesmerised by little Daisy!

Enjoy the bubble, you deserve it x

I have a question though as clueless FTM

How many diapers do you need a day in the first week? Or so far?
And how many postpartum pads?

I made a post about hospital bag but since you are in the middle of it, thought you could tell me first hand!

AlviesMam · 29/01/2021 10:01

@TerribleImagination CONGRATULATIONS!! Amazing news. I love the name daisy 💕💕💕

Whiffle77 · 29/01/2021 12:37

Home already @TerribleImagination that's amazing! Really pleased to hear you are enjoying your little bubble 💞 sorry to hear you have hypertension though! Will it take long to clear?

I really recommend buying some of the incontinence pants @SunnySideUp2020 instead of maternity pads - I got the always ones. They were really comfy and I had no worries about leaking, plus they were comfy on my c section incision!! Nappies - depends how long you are in for, they don't go as many times as you would think in the first few days. Can your DH visit you in hosp, as he can always bring more?

@fizzl congratulations on almost being halfway, that is such a milestone! I feel like it has flown by, but sure it hasn't for you.

@ChampooPapi he was so upset when they did his jabs bless him, but not too bad afterwards - did some good sleeping! He has been a really needy grump this week, but has woken up today so smiley and chatty its lovely! I think we are in a leap this week so it makes sense.

Wow that's brill sleeping @BecsterG! Ours is pretty good, he does a 6-8 hour stretch of sleep most nights. He then sleeps another few hours in the morning after his feed, which let's me get ready for the day etc. But at the same time he doesn't start his night sleep until between 11 and 1, so would really like to pull it all forward and start his long stretch of sleep earlier. Not sure if that will happen naturally or if I need to do anything?! Ive not lost much hair yet but I know its common, frustrating though. I am so desperate for a haircut though!!!

SunnySideUp2020 · 29/01/2021 13:16

@Whiffle77
Yes i was planning on getting incontinence ones tbh. Some disposable panties and some big pads.

I am asking because right now the restrictions are pretty strict and DH is only allowed to come in with a negative covid test max 48 hours old and once in can't leave the premises.
So going home or to the var for nappies won't be possible....

Also i asked the midwife how is he supposed to have a neg covid test ready when i am in labour?!!! She said to do them every 2 days around my due date 😅😅😅

Ejb86 · 29/01/2021 20:12

@mlax we made it to the top of the list! Our babies will be here before we know it!

Thanks for the list @SunnySideUp2020.

It is so lovely to see that all those with babies already here are doing so well. You're all amazing mummies!

Leok83 · 29/01/2021 20:31

@TerribleImagination aw such a lovely update!! Enjoy all those snuggles, the newborn bubble sounds so good!!xx

Thanks @SunnySideUp2020 for the list! Are you starting to prep your labour bag? I'm prob going to start on mine this weekend and was also thinking of getting those disposable always. had cramps last night and today which must be BH and I was panicking I didn't have anything packed so has given me the shove I need to start😄

@Fizzl amazing 1/2 way! And it's definitely going to fly by for you with starting the work on ur house now!!

We've almost finished the nursery now..just have to add a rug and a couple prints for the wall. It's such a relaxing room 😊 (hope baby boy will also agree😄)I fought hard for the nursing chair which DH said we didn't need so I'm going to have to make a point of using it a lot!!

Aww @TerribleImagination 😍 that was so lovely to read! So glad you're home. Enjoy all the newborn snuggles!

@SunnySideUp2020 currently the girls get through about 8 nappies a day each 😅 but I'm not sure what it's like at the very newborn stage as my girls had a different experience being in NICU. I only wore 2 pads a day cos my lochia was very light! I also bought the incontinence pants but didn't end up needing them.

@Leok83 wow the nursery looks beautiful! What a brilliant job you've done!

@Whiffle77 that's amazing he's sleeping that long at night! To say he's 2 days younger than F and G you can really tell that my girls were 6 weeks premature! The longest they go is 4-4.5 hours at night (they do this twice, so feed around 1am, 5am, 9am) and then during the day it's more like every 3-3.5 hours. I cannot wait for the day they start sleeping better!! 😅 they're also very fussy in the evenings between their 7pm and 10pm feed and have been diagnosed with reflux 😩. Luckily we now have gaviscon and a cows milk protein allergy formula which is helping them!

SunnySideUp2020 · 30/01/2021 08:38

@Leok83
This nursery is so nice. Looks so peaceful 💕
Good job!!! I love the night mood.
What is that blue lamp on the side?

Just been looking at stuff to buy online since all of our shops are closed and not looking like it will open anytime soon.
Don't think i will pack the actual bag until end of Feb though. But hope to buy stuff throughout next month.

@MilsCookie ok so 8 a day sounds feasible.
As for the lochia i know everybody os different but i guess i will still get some incontinence pads 😅

Leok83 · 30/01/2021 10:07

Thanks @SunnySideUp2020 and @MilsCookie!

@SunnySideUp2020 its a zazu night light with magnetic teddies. Can change colour and brightness. It was accidentally sent in place of another light we ordered (which was a lot cheaper so we got this one cheap) but it suited so we kept it. Would def not spend the full price on it tho!! There's another couple pics where you can see it better. Some of the colours are a little psychedelic!!

@MilsCookie glad to hear your girls are settling a bit with the Gaviscon and allergy formula..hopefully soon they'll be sleeping more!

SunnySideUp2020 · 30/01/2021 10:14

@Leok83 i also got one but it's a bedside one. Can also turn a bit psychedelic🤣
Do you plan on putting baby in the cot as newborn?

Leok83 · 30/01/2021 11:25

@SunnySideUp2020 no I got the tutti bambini cozee crib for sleeping in our room at night for 1st 6 months but will try and get baby used to the room and cot earlier than 6 months by using for daytime naps hopefully as I've to go back to work full time again in September so really want to try make the transition as easy as possible and heard some people had success with doing it that way. This is all an ideal plan in an ideal world tho😄

SunnySideUp2020 · 30/01/2021 13:56

@Leok83
Good plan!!!
DH this morning woke up and said we need to buy a crib for the baby to put her for naps there instead of the next to me cot.
But i said no 😂
But reading you now kind of makes sense...
But am sure we will have time when she is here to buy the crib...

Whiffle77 · 30/01/2021 16:14

Thats a lovely nursery @Leok83! Really nice. We have smart bulbs in our bedside table which i recommend as you can change the light colour, I have it on one as a night light so I can see him without disturbing him. And you could have one for feeding too - again so you can see what you are doing without waking both of you up too much!

@SunnySideUp2020 most of babies day time naps will be on you initially 😂 so I wouldn't worry too much about lots of places for them to sleep. We have a moses basket downstairs and it is there, me or sling/pram whilst we are walking that he does daytime naps. Nightime we have the tutti bambini cozee. I also didn't have loads of lochia so only changed the pants to feel clean rather than because they needed changing, so a couple a day. Nappies we are on around 10 or so a day, but probably less for a newborn. I took a cabin case for me and a changing bag for all DS stuff. Your hospital restrictions sound crazy. Hope you aren't in too long!

Thats still a good amount of time at night @MilsCookie! He has only started stretching it out the last week or two, they will soon do the same. It does mean when he doesn't go that long its a huge shock to the system!! He did 10pm till 5am last night, I had a couple of gins tho so I do not feel rested today!! He starts off with long gaps between feeds in the morning but then in the evening likes to feed loads, it can be very draining. He varies so much day to day though, likes to keep us on our toes! Very pleased to hear they are a bit better on their new formula.

Thanks @Ejb86 any positivity is always welcomed!! 🥰

mlax · 30/01/2021 16:44

Oh I hope it comes round fast @Ejb86 I'm exhausted 😂 I feel like I'm convincing myself he's going to be early and I need to get that idea out of my head!! Never thought I'd see myself at a top of a list especially in a group like this. Hope you're doing well though 💕

scrumdiddly123 · 30/01/2021 21:00

@SunnySideUp2020 I remember needing to change my pad every time I went to the toilet for the first couple of days so every 1-2 hours. Definitely better to buy more and be prepared then run out! I also used to wear two maternity pads at once just to make sure there was no leaking! I haven’t bought a thing for my hospital bag yet but thinking the same as you- will start buying now ready to pack it in a few weeks time.
@Leok83 absolutely love the nursery 🥰
Not long for you guys now @Ejb86 @mlax! How are you both feeling? It’s crazy looking at the list how far we’ve all come!
@TerribleImagination your post made me a bit emotional! I remember those feelings so well with my other children and cannot wait for the newborn bubble again 😍😍
I hope all the mummies and babies are well too and those not getting much sleep are surviving!
