@Nic2908 I guess because yours has been consistent whereas mine suddenly seemed to rapidly grow so it was seen as need for further investigation. My urine showed high glucose today so now I’m worried. I had another blood test for diabetes and will get results ASAP.

Kj1010 · 02/11/2020 19:18

@Nic2908 I'm having extra growth scans because my first child 20 years ago apparently measured small so they think this one could be to

LRHRN · 02/11/2020 19:31

@peachypetite my urine is the same as yours but bloods have been clear and GTT fine. Apparently is quite normal in the last few weeks of pregnancy 😊🤞🏼fingers crossed for you.

peachypetite · 02/11/2020 19:48

@LRHRN I’m just worried because at 34 weeks they said baby had grown quicker than expected and was measuring big so I feel like that, combined with glucose in my urine today, is a cause for concern.

Snowwhite2020 · 02/11/2020 19:53

@peachypetite I have had this test too. Try not to worry- the results will be back soon and you can take it from there xx

excitednerves · 02/11/2020 19:59

@jalu47 I’m an emotional mess too! I cried on Saturday - overtired - and I cried tonight putting my little boy to bed telling him how much I love him.

I’m blaming hormones ha ha, I feel for my poor husband having to deal with me 😂

MsBee13 · 02/11/2020 21:30

Good evening ladies. I have a quick question. I got a text from NHS offering me a flu vaccination after my scan tomorrow. Have any of you done this? Is it safe to have it when only a few weeks left until baby is here? Thanks x

Babyhope98 · 02/11/2020 21:36

@MsBee13 I think most of us on here have had it good to protect you and baby as more risky with flu in third trimester. They recommend it for pregnant women x

@peachypetite they did a blood test on me last week as baby has spurted a little bit but it has come back fine. I didn’t have to fast t like at 28 weeks so hope it was accurate, did you have to fast or did they just take it as soon as they saw the glucose in urine? X

Snowwhite2020 · 02/11/2020 22:18

Does anyone have a recommendation for a bump support- where to get w good one and roughly how much you should pay? I’ve found my bump getting a lot heavier and am now in a fair bit of pain in my tummy snd back. Thinking it might be best to invest in one of these... xx

Dee96 · 02/11/2020 22:26

So I received my email on the big baby trial. And my goodness I just need to rant about it! It goes into detail of all ths risks for the 3 different types of birth, natural induction and c-section and I've just found it all so overwhelming to read on paper! Especially the risks for csection, its quite scary seeing the risk column for the woman being over a whole page in comparison to the risk for the baby only being 3 points. I just feel like no matter what I do there is always a chance for a negative outcome so I'm confused as how I'm meant to decide what's best. And both natural and induction can easily lead to c-section which makes me wonder what is the point in trying to actively avoid it when all options have a strong possibility of leading down that route for us ladies with big babies!

@LRHRN how far along are you? I only ask because I was declined a gtt test at a little over 28 plus weeks but I seem to be finding plenty of women have had it over that cut off point.

jalu47 · 02/11/2020 22:39

@Snowwhite2020 I'm in the 97th category too and with a diagnosis of GD. He was only 50th at 28weeks and 97th at 32 - hence the GD diagnosis. I've got another growth scan at 36 weeks but consultant was keen to induce at 37 or give me a c section at 37/38. My head is spinning with what to do - I keep going back and forth. I really want a natural birth but the more I hear of long unsuccessful early inductions the more I am thinking of a section. At the moment I keep just thinking I'll put everything off until I get the next scan result.. but when the hell do I finish work, that's my latest conundrum. It's a good distraction and as a contractor with no mat leave I need the money but don't want to finish on a Friday and have a baby on the Monday!

lionsmum · 02/11/2020 23:31

@MsBee13 I'd recommend going for it as others have said a lot of us on here have had the vaccine, I asked my consultant too beforehand and she said to get it

As far as the conversation about c-sections goes, I can't share anything but my positive experience from last year. The whole thing was very calm and organised, felt very in control and informed the whole way through. At the end of the day it is called as a major operation so risks are there, but the chance of anything not going your way are slim. I'm feeling good about my upcoming section and hope it will be the same calm, organised experience, this time with a little one I get to hold & who doesn't need to be rushed off to the NICU🤞🏼

Hope everyone is doing well x

Babyhope98 · 03/11/2020 04:08

Currently been awake since 1am.. looks like I have a new pregnancy symptom burning hands and feet feel so hot and tingly 😂😩

LRHRN · 03/11/2020 06:53

@Dee96 I had the GTT at 28weeks and then had a fasting blood test last week at 35+weeks.
I'm not overweight and My baby isn't big and I'm not in any risk categories other than my dad being diabetic so maybe that's why 🤷🏼‍♀️
I thought if your baby was measuring big it was standard to be tested?

peachypetite · 03/11/2020 07:25

@Babyhope98 had the blood test immediately, they test for frucstosamine. I’ve been informed I’m too far along for the fasting oral test but seems some of you have had it very late! It’s the second time I’ve had this blood test, the last one came back negative but I was also reading it perhaps isn’t the most reliable for GD. Reading on here I can’t believe how many of us are having some kind of complication at this point or at risk of induction or having to choose between induction or c section.

peachypetite · 03/11/2020 07:38

@Dee96 I can imagine it was overwhelming reading all that but those trials literally have to list every single risk.

Snowwhite2020 · 03/11/2020 08:41

@lionsmum thank you for your positive message. I really appreciate it.

@jalu47 I can totally relate.

@peachypetite I know... xx

LRHRN · 03/11/2020 08:43

@peachypetite I was thinking the same, I took for granted my first 2 pregnancies and births as they were pretty straight forward and this one is proving a challenge.
It's such a hard decision choosing the right option because like many of said of you chose to be induced it may not work and end up with a csection anyway.
I'm in the same position with having baby turned. I was talking with my husband about it and I think the only way I will agree to an ECV is if they induce me straight away as I'm not prepared to go through all that for them to tell me she's turned back and I need a csection anyway.

NatalieH2220 · 03/11/2020 08:50

Wonder if anyone can offer any insight.. At my growth scan a couple of weeks ago the sonographer said babies head was very low. Not sure if that meant engaged or just head down. Based on the movements and what I can feel I'm pretty sure he's laying across me now so has presumably moved. I don't get any more scans now so just wondered how it works in labour. If he's not head down then presumably they'll need to get involved somehow, I'm planning to go to a midwife led unit so just a bit concerned I'll get there and there will be an issue. My first labour was quick so time may not be on my side.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8901499/Pregnant-women-given-priority-15-minute-Covid-tests-says-PM.html

Some good news maybe ladies?! If they get these tests partners should be allowed in for the whole labour if corona test is negative!!

Babyhope98 · 03/11/2020 08:55

I had the fasting test at 28 weeks which was negative this was just a test that didn’t require fasting so must be the same as yours which has also been negative, but like you said not as reliable maybe x @peachypetite

peachypetite · 03/11/2020 09:52

@NatalieH2220 at your upcoming midwife appts they should be feeling position of the baby.

NatalieH2220 · 03/11/2020 10:06

Thanks for your reply. I have one on Thursday and that's it then until 41 weeks. At my last appointment she wasn't sure if head or the bum so it doesn't fill me with much confidence 😕😕
