@marauder1994 Yes, but worth noting that tummy time doesn't have to mean actually putting them on the floor on their tummy, especially at this age. If you recline with them laying on your chest on their stomachs for a snuggle that counts as tummy time too. As does wearing them in a sling. (Apologies if you knew this already, I didn't for quite a long time with my first.) DS has much better neck control for his age than DD did- he can already hold his head a good few inches off my chest unsupported for a few seconds. DD didn't manage that for about six weeks.

marauder1994 · 10/10/2020 18:09

@FourPlasticRings oh no I didn't know that! I was stressing about how I would do tummy time with a 6 day old! I put him on my chest all the time so he'll be getting his recommended 5 mins haha. Thank you :) x

Treaclepie19 · 10/10/2020 18:57

Same here, Bea is always lying on my tummy 😊 I do tummy time on the mat now and then.

Had fairly good contractions last night then felt asleep and they stopped completely after that.. hoped that they would resume tonight but doesn't look like it.. I'll probably be days on the latent phase of labour. It was quite painful last night and I didn't have any sleep so wished them to go away and still dreading the whole experience, I'm a wuss after all or what..

Hope all the breastfeeding Mummies get as much support as needed. It's hard work you are all who are on the other side are heroes in my eyes! Sending lots of positive vibes!

Treacle81 · 11/10/2020 00:37

Hi guys! Trying to catch up here, v hard trying to keep track when no reply to comment feature, trying to comment and remember names. @marauder1994 I'm glad you are feeling better just remember that codeine is very constipating so up your fibre, drink plenty of fresh orange juice and maybe take lactulose if your taking it for a while. Cameron is getting breast during the day with me now using nipple shields as it makes him latch instantly 😊. That's the 'poo after section' done, 8 days before I last went so that's ✅ now just have to remove the dressing on Mon which I'm not looking forward to but mum will help. I have 4 more tummy injections thankfully, find these v nippy! Planning on going a walk in his pram tomorrow, he'll be a week old. He has had SIX soiled nappies today 😳 that is alot of shit lol! Feeling sore today but need to remember that it is major surgery I've just went through and I'm happy to have kept up with washing, showering and getting organised before he wakes in morning, so all good. Think I'm going to cut down the expressing from every 3 hours to twice a day, see how I go. Was thinking that I don't know what I'll do with regards to night feeding when partner returns to work in a fortnight but cross that bridge when we come to it. Hope you all are well and more babies follow soon xx

FourPlasticRings · 11/10/2020 01:28

@Viletta

It's all gearing up for you then! Exciting stuff.

It was quite painful last night and I didn't have any sleep so wished them to go away and still dreading the whole experience, I'm a wuss after all or what..

Speaking as a confirmed and lifelong wuss, birth is not fun. After the birth isn't either really, with all the gory and grim elements. That said, it's over relatively quickly. The worst bit of birth only lasts an hour or so. Have you got a TENS machine? If not, I highly recommend you get your hands on one. Mine is the perfect mama one from Boots. I got by on TENS, paracetamol, gas and air and aromatherapy with a baby weighing over 9lbs. And I am a massive wuss. Remember though, there's no shame in an epidural if you feel you need one and no prizes for stoicism in childbirth. You'll be fine.

FourPlasticRings · 11/10/2020 01:30

@Treacle81 you are superwoman! You're cleaning and organising in the morning, less than a week after your section?? Well done! I doff my cap to you- very impressive. Glad to hear you're getting through the recovery stages now, but don't push yourself too hard!

Viletta · 11/10/2020 02:14

@FourPlasticRings thanks, it dies make me feel better! Got tens but contractions felt more like stubby period pain it helped with distraction though. Nothing is happening so far hoping things will resume tomorrow. I like the idea of aromatherapy! Hope you are settling down with new bubba and things are getting easier x

Treacle81 · 11/10/2020 03:29

@FourPlasticRings My mum thinks I am also doing great, looking well and v impressed at how well I've been considering the e section and further complications. It's good to hear☺️ @Viletta hopefully not too much longer for you now xx

Treacle81 · 11/10/2020 03:37

@FourPlasticRings I was just asked for feedback on this new app and mentioned that reply to comment feature is missing and defo required 🤞. Although my first birth was over 16 years ago I hands down know that this e c section is a better recovery. The forceps and episiotomy recovery for me was v painful, slow and not being able to sit for 2 months properly or walk, go to toilet without being in agony, really got to me. Now I know that I wasnt stitched back up right must have certainly played its part. When I first tried to sit up after the section I was in agony and thought god no, how am I going to get up and walk and then I had the bowel obstruction and hates the 2 catheters but I know now its defo been easier and less painful than my assisted birth xx

Zaalfruit · 11/10/2020 05:42

Hey everyone !!
Just trying to catch up - zero sleep is getting to me - today my key done milk randomly came in as surprise and it soaked through my bra on my dd. Felt so bad as I had to change her . She was miserable and angry ! Giving her a random feed now .

@Treacle81 you really are super woman , after all my tearing I still find it hard to sit - I sit on a memory foam cushion but even that isn’t comfortable . I’m glad the c section was a better option for you. ( I still haven’t done the poo / she was born on 30/09 😭😭😭 My stitches hurt sooo Much and I’m scared . But well done for getting the first one out of the way .

@Viletta hopefully not to long for you now - wishing you the best of luck x

Ohh tummy time forgot about that but as she is laying on me -was I guess that counts as tummy time . 😂🤣

Also congrats to everyone that’s had their babies !!! and a huge big you can do it to those who are waiting to birth it’s all worth the pain once you hold them in your arms and they open their little eyes for 5 mins - it’s incredible that feeling s

FourPlasticRings · 11/10/2020 06:12

@Zaalfruit I hear you on the sleep deprivation! How on Earth I'm still functioning is totally beyond me. On the plus side, I do seem to have come out of the baby blues a bit- how are you doing on that score?

They all seem to hate being changed, don't worry! My DH must be putting nappies on wrong- we had three leaks yesterday, necessitating three full changes! I think DH is struggling with the sleep thing more than I am (despite having had about four times the amount I have had!)

Treacle81 · 11/10/2020 06:57

Girls! I think Cam was fooling me for the 3 hourly wake up call first night, he's been 1hour 50 twice tonight! Also had to express there as I couldn't even put him on my chest they were so engorged! Just fine usual 10 mins either side and I got DOUBLE the supply! 100 ml of milk 💃 pain is gone, feels good but also leaking milk like mad, soaked the bed! Those that aren't bf has your milk dried up yet? Luckyvsuds if do, breast pads are my new friends! @Zaalfruit thanks! I honestly couldn't sit properly for 2 months after son so please don't worry, in time it will all knit back together. That is along time to go without toilet, make sure to eat lots of fibre, drink plenty of orange juice and maybe take temporary fix of lactulose just to help it when it dues appear! @FourPlasticRings I'm the same, not experienced poo leak yet 🤞 but a few pee leaks. Just make sure he takes out the 'frills' as I call them at either side if the leg and that the vest is not in the way when fastening. Cam so tiny one sticky side goes right around to the other, vice versa. I really hope next wake up is at least 3 hours time. Hopefully we get another Sunday baby or two today 💞🎉xx

NWnature · 11/10/2020 13:55

Argh the post partum stuff all sounds so hard, I can’t believe what we women go through it’s crazy. Nothing to report here! 40+1 today.

The post dates clinic was really nice, the midwife did aromatherapy acupressure on my hands and feet then finished with a foot massage! Doesn’t seem to have done the trick but she shows where you can do it yourself and it was nice and relaxing anyway!

She did say the baby’s head isn't very engaged which explains why I am not particularly uncomfortable, she recommended walking more etc but also said some don’t engage til labour starts. Been for a mega walk this morning and will aim to do 10k steps every day next week. Next thing I have booked in is another acupuncture on Wednesday followed by 41 week appointment and sweep next Sat- we will see if they make an appearance before then!

BntTowers · 11/10/2020 16:05

@NWnature a foot massage sounds like heaven at the moment! I tend to do about 8500 steps every day which I think had helped with moving baby down. Counting down the days now until Thursday.
No news here either, although baby is definitely moving down, getting a fair bit of pressure and the car ride earlier was awful going over speed bumps.
My mum and step dad visited for a while earlier, last time pre baby.

Spark27 · 11/10/2020 16:54

@Treacle81 I hear you on the leaking boobs. I've got a towel on top of my mattress protector to try and save the mattress. I've also got a new duvet waiting to be used, but want to wait until I've finished feeding and leaking. I'm trying to not express much as I dont want my body to think it needs to make more milk than it does and to make my boobs even more engorged. I just do a bit if my boobs are ridiculously sore, or if I know I might miss a feed (soda law she wants some as soon as I step in the shower)

Viletta · 11/10/2020 17:31

41 weeks today, contractions stopped.. erch so annoying, debating if sweep is worth trying or whether I should start thinking about induction... feeling especially moody today

NWnature · 11/10/2020 17:37

Sorry to hear that @Viletta still reckon it means your body is getting ready. I reckon I am going to go for the sweep at my 41 appointment, worth a shot!

@BntTowers so impressed with 8500 a day! Will def be helping. I got some clarins tired leg cream which is lovely if you have achy legs. Is induction on thurs or a sweep?

Buzz22 · 11/10/2020 17:52

@Viletta @NWnature I'm 40 + 2 today and will definitely be having sweep next friday at 41 weeks if she hasn't made an appearance by then.
I have zero signs of anything happening except some backache.
Walking hasn't helped me either. Dont know if my body is too used to walking the dog every day that it makes no difference.
Seems like no more babies for the thread this weekend.

VioletIvy · 11/10/2020 17:57

Hi everyone! Have been following for a while with interest and finally plucked up the courage to post! My baby girl was born 12 days ago after a VBAC, had quite a traumatic time with second degree tear and blood loss, and now an infection but so happy my second baby girl is here safely and doing well.

After having a c section last time I had hoped a vbac would be a quicker recovery but finding it a lot slower this time round, struggling to sit down and got less mobility etc which has been hard with a toddler and hubby going back to work on Tuesday Sad

Despite having a traumatic time my midwives were absolutely amazing, is anyone getting a thank you gift/card for theirs if you had a positive experience? If so what are you getting? I found myself weirdly sad to be leaving the safety of the midwife environment on the ward and kept getting emotional about it without quite knowing why - I blame the baby blues which hit me massively, didn't have it with my first but really felt it this time!

Good luck to everyone still waiting for their babies! xx

NWnature · 11/10/2020 18:17

@Buzz22 we are so close ! In a way it’s annoying no signs but then at least we can be thankful we aren’t mega uncomfortable. Just trying to chill as much as poss and repeat the mantra “baby will come when baby is ready 😬🙄” and ignore annoying relatives/ friends who fixate on due date! I was convinced all my tricks were going to culminate together and work but I’ve literally done them all to no avail! Still forcing down the dates🤢

@VioletIvy congrats on your little one and huge achievement to have a VBAC! You are so sweet to think of midwives, my SIL is one- I’ll ask her if she has received any particularly good ones in the past. I reckon a food gift would always go down well with the ward to keep energy levels up? Cakes/ donuts / brownies or something perhaps?

BntTowers · 11/10/2020 18:26

@NWnature Thursday is induction day, I have a sweep booked for Tuesday as an last attempt to get things started.

@VioletIvy welcome and well done. I hope you start to feel a bit better soon. I've brought a box of celebrations to leave with the midwives, not sure about a card yet. Ours have quite an active Facebook page where a lot of mum's have posted thanks yous with photos of babies I think I might do that and ask for it to be shown to the antenatal diabetic team as well as they have been a huge help.

FourPlasticRings · 11/10/2020 18:29

Despite having a traumatic time my midwives were absolutely amazing, is anyone getting a thank you gift/card for theirs if you had a positive experience? If so what are you getting?

Congratulations on your baby girl! I'm definitely getting something but no idea what yet, or how to go about it! Probably just chocs or something with a card that names the midwives involved.

VioletIvy · 11/10/2020 19:52

@NWnature Thank you! Yes I was thinking can't go wrong with something edible and some nice hot drinks or something along with a card. I had to have some interventions from the doctors during my delivery and was really unimpressed with how some of them spoke to the midwives - made me feel quite angry when its the midwives who had been there for me throughout and had really gone above and beyond for me, feel like they deserve some recognition!

@BntTowers Yes ours has quite an active Facebook page - its so nice to see when those mentioned reply to some of the comments!

@FourPlasticRings That sounds like what I will probably do, not sure whether to take it in myself or post it though as not got any appointments or anything to go to, don't really want to leave the house just yet Grin

Treacle81 · 11/10/2020 23:41

@VioletIvy I bought them a tub of celebrations which they seemed happy with, defo couldn't leave without a wee something for them, oarbtsr just brought it in when he was picking us up. Not long now for you girls, hopefully lots of babies this week ❤️. Cam seems to be having a growth spurt, feeding on demand pretty constantly and up every 2 hours at night instead of 3, very tiring but worth it xx
