Sorry to hear about the healing issues @marauder1994. I had the same with my episiotomy after my first child. Stitches split and it was open and really sore, but they said it just needed to be left to heal naturally. Just keep up with the paracetamol and ibuprofen, and lavender oil in the bath can help. It did take a few weeks to heal, but I remember it was healed by the time I went for my 6 week check and the dr had a quick look xx

NWnature · 09/10/2020 15:37

Ohh @marauder1994 sounds so painful 😥 I can’t believe they won’t restitch. Arghhh

@Buzz22 mine is in a similar position , squished to one side- I’m praying they don’t go back to back. Also only 4/5 engaged but the mw seems relaxed and says they can move quite a bit in the run up and during labour.

I’ve had a lazy, boring day today. Due date tomorrow eeeeeek!

Treacle81 · 09/10/2020 17:12

@FourPlasticRings you are right defo need to sort this function. Need a reply to comment. That's why the FB group will be better to transfer over too. I go between as see some of us use both still. @CharlieBalf and @Spark27 I've had Cameron latch once, 10 mins this morning, he's 5 days old. It's very difficult as having to express before I try feed him so I have one prepared! Also boob milk were soaked through nightie last night and I thought they were bigger till woke up this morning. Ooft massive! Cabot wait till my rented double express pump comes on
Mon, hopefully make such a difference. Didn't think expressing would hurt nipples but it defo does so I'm applying lanisoh after every pump! Just really hope C soon gets his latch and I just have to solely breast feed. Saying that I'll express at night so partner can help out as it is v exhausting. He's only lost 2% birthweight but no surprise as he's guzzling 60 ml in less than 5 mins! When he was first born, lucky if he took 5! What a difference a few days make! Alsi had 4 soiled nappies today so far!! Aww Congratulations @BettyBotter1 and @booroo on your beautiful babies, can't wait to see them ❤️. @marauder1994 I had an episiotomy with son 16byears sho and just found out during labour that I hadn't been stitched correctly BY A DOCTOR after forceps delivery. She said she try and stick it back properly if I needed more but unfortunately needed emergency c section so couldn't. She did say tho that I should go to GP about it so I'd day you can be restitched! I have lived with it all this time but sex always hurts a little due to tearing and now know that it isn't right! Defo get second opinion xx

Buzz22 · 09/10/2020 17:54

Just want to say I appreciate people still coming on here even though the facebook group is easier for you all to keep up with!
Like I said before I dont use facebook anymore so it's nice to hear peoples updates on here still xx

FourPlasticRings · 09/10/2020 18:43

@Buzz22 I've made a new Facebook account just for the purpose of keeping up with this group. If you've got a spam email address to use it only takes a couple of minutes to set an account up and you can give yourself a different surname if privacy is your concern.

Congratulations @booroo! Hope things get started for you soon @Viletta @NWnature and anyone else still waiting.

Ouch @ Marauder1994. Why on Earth won't they restitch?

DS just managed to pop a blister he made on my nipple and he now looks like a vampire. Shock Very appropriate for Halloween month!

marauder1994 · 09/10/2020 19:01

They don't restitch as they prefer you to heal naturally apparently! Something about how if it isn't done within an hour of the wound, it won't heal effectively.

They've said if it's not healed/healing by my 6 week check then I might get referred back to gynaecology... xx

It's horrendous though, I can feel it opening more everytime I move!

FourPlasticRings · 09/10/2020 19:39

It's horrendous though, I can feel it opening more everytime I move!

Oh, you poor thing! That sounds awful. So much of the horror of recovery from birth is the ick. I've got another second degree tear (same place as the first) healing and I don't even dare to touch it. Water to wash, pat dry and then use a handheld fan to finish off! Also the jelly feet are awful. My entire body has swelled up like a blimp and I feel like an over-inflated water bed! I hope your episiotomy heals quickly. Surely the stitches shouldn't come apart if done properly? Could you complain?

EllieGolightly · 10/10/2020 00:25

How can I be added to the Facebook group please? I'm terrible at keeping up and posting here.

Amy Nora McNeill arrived 01/10/2020 @ 09:37, plucked from me by an old school friend, which was strangely comforting, also I think he made an extra careful good job on my incision, as the midwife said it was one of the neatest scars she's ever seen!

Bambino born at 39 weeks, due to being breech, and my gestational diabetes. She was 51cm long, and weighed 8lb 5oz. After struggling with her latch I had to take her off the boob at the end of day 2 as she had completely destroyed them with blistering. My milk came in at day 4, I expressed 2oz in 2 hours and have not had a refill. She was jaundiced, so I was feeding her formula every 3 hours to try and flush that all out of her and I don't know of I just missed the opportune time to start expressing. Though I have shed many tears about not having that beautiful breastfeeding experience I envisaged, I just remind myself to be grateful I have a healthy and thriving little girl.

marauder1994 · 10/10/2020 00:46

Is it possible I could be added to the group too?

Currently in a&e. I was having a proper giggle with my Partner and laughed to hard and completely burst the rest of my epiostomy stitches.

A&e have pages the gynaecologist who is going to get me onto the ward to be assessed and go from there.

In agony but hoping they can do something tonight. Feel horrendous for leaving my little boy :( and his dad is panicking coz he hasn't had him alone yet.

Congrats on baby girl! She is gorgeous xx

FourPlasticRings · 10/10/2020 01:14

Oh, good Lord @marauder1994! You have had a time of it. You seem to relaxed about it all though, well done. Hope they get you sorted quickly.

Spark27 · 10/10/2020 03:23

Oh wow @marauder1994 that sounds grim, and painful. Hopefully they get it sorted soon, and get you some good drugs.

Waiting for Amelie to wake for another feed. I should still be asleep but my boobs are rock hard and do painful. I'm only 11 days in and already feed up with how sore my boobs are, then soaking through all pads and clothes, etc xx

Treaclepie19 · 10/10/2020 03:56

Congratulations @EllieGolightly!

Oh gosh @marauder1994. I hope they've been able to help you and you've had some pain relief.

@Spark27 I managed 2 days before I started getting fed up of the pain and leaking so you're doing better than me!

Just doing a night feed downstairs because I haven't made it up to bed yet 😂
Bea has been so upset tonight poor pudding 😔

saiditbetterthanme · 10/10/2020 03:57

Gosh, I'm so fed up. This is my second. You'd think it would be easier to remember! 6 days over due. Sat up in bed as have lower back pain (like periods but manageable) not really sure if something is happening but I've been achey all day. I wonder if it's the beginning of contractions. No show or waters broken. Had a sweep at 40 weeks, midwife said mucus plug is almost gone but babies head still needs to come down slightly.
It really hurts to lie down so sat up in bed reading mumsnet :)
Love all the baby pics and news. Well done everyone!

FourPlasticRings · 10/10/2020 06:47

@saiditbetterthanme I'd forgotten too. Also found out some new things. After birth contractions really freaking hurt the second time around so be prepared for that. Good luck and i hope you have an easy birth. Mine was born six days overdue. It shouldn't be long now.

Finally back home post birth. So pleased.
@Spark27 you can take ibuprofen and paracetamol. I do until it stops being so painful. There are no heroes. Also, express some off if you feel the need. You may find she struggles to latch if your boobs are that engorged. I'm going to have my toddler take the edge off mine if the baby can't keep up with the supply he ordered.

Viletta · 10/10/2020 09:28

Hi all, I had rock hard belly yesterday for hours and Braxton Hicks on top MW wanted me to come in for monitoring, took ages but all looks fine. I asked her to check my cervix she said she doubt anything is happening but it turns out I'm 1cm dilated with cervix being in good position and thinning out nicely. 40+6 now, had contractions all night. No bloody show yet, no mucus but a bit of pink blood, MW said it's all good. Managed 2 hours of sleep. Looks like things are starting naturally! Fingers crossed!

BntTowers · 10/10/2020 10:44

@EllieGolightly @marauder1994 I have sent you a pm with a link to the Facebook page for you to join.

@LostinAusten2 I've sent you a message about the Facebook page too.

This may seem really petty but I'm a bit upset. Someone in the NCT group, who had the same due date as me, has named their little boy the only name I have really liked in this while process. I wasn't going to get to use it as a first name, but it's the only one I've liked. (Decided against going for Robin as his mum was getting a bit upset about Robert the other day and I think it will be too much of a reminder/ association). So now I'm back to the drawing board and I don't even know if the baby is a boy or not and it's stressing me out, upset me a fair bit yesterday as well and I'm still in a mood about it this morning.

BntTowers · 10/10/2020 10:44

@Viletta fingers crossed for you and things progressing naturally.

FourPlasticRings · 10/10/2020 10:52

Ooh, exciting @Viletta! Good luck!

@BntTowers you could use the name anyway? And, like you say, you don't even know if it's a boy yet. Maybe put it out of your mind and cross that bridge when you come to it? We didn't have a boy's name picked at all so DS hasn't actually got an official name yet, despite being 3 days old today. We've got one we're trying out, but it took a full week with DD. It's all fine- they will just put 'Baby BntTowers' on the documents and wristbands etc. I know it's tricky but do try not to stress too much on the name front- something will occur to you once baby is here. Flowers

I've got the baby blues big-time. Watching myself for any signs of PPD because I am really struggling this time around.

booroo · 10/10/2020 11:07

Hi guys just checking in :)
Annabelle says hi 🙋‍♀️
Hope everyone waiting has a good productive baby delivering weekend.
Can I have a link to the Facebook page?
Quick sum Up of her arrival into the world...
Wednesday evening headed in for reduced movements and ended up being admitted for induction that evening as was overdue and they decided she was safer out than in, had a 6hour pessary that didn't do the whole job then another 6hour pessary which caused my waters to rupture them self... had a few hours wait untill 3pm for a canula in which time my contractions didn't get any more intense so had to go on the syno drip to induce labour..
Had 2 amazing midwifes with me the whole
Time who encouraged me I didn't have to have an epidural i didn't want just because of the drip so laboured on it just breathing through contractions for 1.5 hours then went onto gas and air as really ramped up!!
Had an examination at 5pm feeling pressure below to find out I was only 3cm dilated at which point I said I'd have an epidural as couldn't imagine going for hours with them being that strong and the pressure.... then it got fun... 1 midwife left to ring for an epidural and the next contraction my body took over and started pushing... 5.25 baby Bella arrived into my arms 🙈 once again I went from 0-60 in dilation I definitely seem to have a style for doing it 🤣
So bloody proud of myself though!
So to anybody else being induced you don't have to have an epidural With the drip.. its ok to try and see what works for you xx

LostinAusten2 · 10/10/2020 11:23

So well done @booroo 🥳 x

FourPlasticRings · 10/10/2020 12:10

Well done @booroo! You are nails. I wished I'd gone for an epidural even without the drip but needles are a horrendous phobia of mine. Having the cannula for IV antibiotics was 😱😭🤢.

Sounds like you did really well. I got told off for screaming too much! Blush

NWnature · 10/10/2020 12:45

@booroo you are a hero!! Well done!!!

@Viletta eeeek sounds exciting - it’s starting 💗

@BntTowers you should definitely still use the name, understand it’s annoying but who cares if they have it too and your NCT friends are def not the be all and end off for the rest of your babies life, don’t get upset xx

@FourPlasticRings take it easy, it’s good you recognise hormones will be going crazy and just ask for help if you need it. You are doing amazing! Can’t wait to hear the little ones name when you guys decide.

It’s my due date today! No sign of anything happening, really don’t even feel that much pressure or majorly uncomfortable. Heading into the hospital this afternoon for the post dates clinic which I think is acupressure and aromatherapy- I don’t think they offer a sweep but we will see! Im not sure if I even want a sweep yet as imagine it might be painful given I have no signs of anything happening yet, might ask to wait til next weekend when I’m 41 weeks and see if anything happens before then. Am now onboard with the consensus that none of the old wives things work 😂 I’ve done everything!!! RLT, dates, pineapple, nipples, sex, clary sage, walking, bouncing etc etc going to take it easy next week and see if anything happens naturally.

otterbaby · 10/10/2020 15:20

Hi everyone! Just trying to catch up, so hard to keep up with updates right now. Olive is doing really well, just feeding nonstop and my poor nips are in agony. My health visitor today was heavily suggesting getting a breast pump but my milk hasn't even come in yet, just going to try to grin and bear it for a bit. It is so hard.

@Treaclepie19 don't feel guilty at all! Baby is still being fed which is all that matters. You're still doing amazing.

@marauder1994 oh gosh, what a nightmare! You poor thing, I hope you have some pain relief.

It sounds like a few of us have had some trouble with stitches. They diagnosed me with a third degree tear and I got taken into surgery and was given a spinal (paralysed from the waist down). Once they did that, they realised it was only second degree and I didn't actually need the bloody spinal and they could've just stitched it in the room! Too late though so then they stitched me up and I was on my own with baby for 5 hours without being able to move, it was really distressing. Some drs are just a bit overzealous I think, I don't know.

@BntTowers aw that is upsetting. I would still use the name though. It's just an NCT person, not friend/family so I really wouldn't worry! Saying that, someone in my group who delivered before me used Olive as a middle name and I did feel weirdly possessive and annoyed.

Congrats to all the new mums and fingers crossed those on the verge will be have their babies sooner rather than later 🥰

marauder1994 · 10/10/2020 16:28

Thank you everyone! Feeling much better today tbh! Antibiotics are kicking in and codeine is a lot better than paracetamol.

Glad I'm back home and with my little lad 🧡

marauder1994 · 10/10/2020 16:36

Have you all started tummy time with you LOs? Xx
