Just wondering if there is anyone else about at 32 weeks that fancy comparing symptoms and looking out for signs of labour in a couple of months!

I know there are a couple of threads about for babies due each month but they seem so well established now it wouldn't feel right to try and get in on the action of them.

So just seeing if there are any other lurckers like me about 😁

Has anyone looked at Peanut for making potential local mum friends? I downloaded the app but then was a bit put off by having to write a profile before having a look around. All my friends live miles away, so not really up for a mooch around the park.

We decided not to do NCT, as weren't sure we'd bond with others in a few short online sessions - and everything to do with labour is irrelevant to me. I have been looking at a little course by the Maternity Collective though, as there's a section-specific one. And we did the 2hr free one with the Baby Academy.

Hoping to join some baby clubs on the other side too Smile.

Hey, 32 weeks here as well, FTM, IVF baby boy.
Had morning sickness until 16 weeks, but after that have been well. Had a lot of swelling in my feet and carpal tunnel during second trimester, but actually tiredness aside I feel great during these last months.
I am surprised so many of you already have hospital bags prepared. I haven't even made a list yet 😅

I did the Positive Birth Company's Hypnobirthing course and found that very useful, hopefully it will help.
Have any of you started taking raspberry leaf tea or are planning on taking it?

I have a question for other IVF mums. I was told early in the pregnancy that they won't let me go past 40 weeks and will induce if it does not start naturally until then. Now I don't have any risk factors so I find it a bit odd. Have any of you been told you will be induced just because it's IVF pregnancy?

Sheera1 · 30/09/2020 23:12

Too late but want to mark my place and will read through. I am 32 weeks plus 5 and have a growth scan tomorrow.

Keeping well really but starting to feel like a bowling ball is in there. Getting up is not very sexy 😁.

I am up about 1am and then 4/5am to pee and get back ok to sleep first time but awake almost two hours the 2nd time.

Starting to have some anxiety on movements but triage not interested. Glad my scan is tomorrow for peace of mind.

SM20 · 01/10/2020 12:36

I need to do my hospital bag , not sure what put in don’t want to much or to little.
I’ve started with sore back and aching don’t know how I’m going get on for 8 weeks .

Sairafina · 01/10/2020 15:01

Well I definitely overdid it yesterday so going to take it easy today.

I have also discovered I am pregnant in my hands after a real struggle to get my sleep tracker ring off this morning 😂 I mean, not that I needed a fancy bit of kit to remind me I was getting up at least 3x in the night for a wee

DueNumberTwo · 01/10/2020 15:21

@Sairafina I had to take my garmin watch off overnight as my wrist had swollen??!! How does a wrist swell?

jsnsmsms · 01/10/2020 15:26

I'm 35 weeks and the only thing I can say is extreme sciatica 😂😢

Pukeymama · 01/10/2020 15:34

My wedding ring had to come off last week due to swelling (and maybe a bit too much cake...). So glamorous. Very exciting that the start of a new month means most/all of us can say 'baby is due next month!'

OP posts:
DueNumberTwo · 01/10/2020 15:46

@Pukeymama I know! I just thought that this morning Grin due next month.
Just home from midwife, all is well but he's still back to back. Next appointment in 4 weeks time.

Hope you're all well today.

Sairafina · 01/10/2020 16:23

Wedding ring is clinging on, it was a little loose before so had some swelling room to grow into.

My next appointment is next week and then it'll be weekly until the baby arrives. He is head down and has been since about week 26 so hopefully he doesn't have a last minute change of position.

Pinecone88 · 01/10/2020 16:26

I had to take my wedding ring off when I was 16 weeks 😂
Well hopefully I will be able to put it back on soon enough...

Has anyone got or started looking at Prams? If so what did you go for and why

bcccc · 01/10/2020 19:39

I got the Venicci Tinum. It's the lightest out of all their prams and folds up with one press of a button. I don't know much about prams so I chose what seemed most practical. It's great anyway.
DueNumberTwo · 01/10/2020 19:47

@rainbows20 we're re-using my sons pram, it's a cosatto (can't remember the model) we were happy with it for ds. When he was about 1+ we mainly moved him into a silver cross fold up stroller.

DueNumberTwo · 01/10/2020 19:48

I've bought a lamb skin to go in the pram to make it nice and cosy for a winter baby.

RWK29 · 01/10/2020 20:16

Silver Cross Pacific Autograph is what we’ve gone for. Loved the look of it and seen some good reviews so hoping it’ll be fine 😊

Flyingfruit · 02/10/2020 04:27

Anyone else suffering from insomnia?? Driving me mad the last couple of weeks. Confused
We’ve got the bugaboo bee. We had it for our first and have never stopped using it, it’s been great.

Pukeymama · 02/10/2020 08:40

@flying fruit insomnia is the worst! I've always been so lucky with sleep but it's definitely getting more of an issue, I'm fine if I don't get woken up by husband or toddler, but if I get woken up it takes soooo long to go back to sleep. I've been trying to avoid using the pregnancy pillow as didn't find it that great last time and it takes up so much room, but I think I may have to admit defeat soon and start using it in the hopes it helps me feel more comfortbale!

I have bought an Infaby Ultimo. I didn't buy new with my first and had a series of 2nd hand prams and hated them all so looked for one that had answers for all the niggly things I didn't like about the others. If you are buying new it is really reasonably priced and it is gorgeous in the flesh. I am really impressed. I have heard the bugaboo fox is great but it is a big price tag.

With you on the insomnia. I pee about 12/1 and then again about 5ish and can't get back to sleep for a few hours and then I nod off and am knackered when I wake up.

Has anyone been told about flu jabs?

I had a scan ytday and clinic and forgot to ask. I was not a happy bunny ytday at all. I got a registrar who hadn't even bothered to open my notes. Knew nothing about this pregnancy and some risk factors or the messy history of DS birth.

I was expecting to get my c section booked in which was recommended and agreed with the consultant at 12 weeks and she was like "why do you think you are having a section? You can give birth naturally" 🙈🤔. I had to stay really firm as she tried to talk me out of it even though my first had ended up an emergency section and the likelihood is that would happen again, that I would need induced which they don't do after a section and my scar is so bad there is a big risk it would tear. I was so not happy at all.

I had flights booked to Spain for next week and agreed with midwife weeks ago that as I am high risk for certain things I should not be flying at 34 weeks never mind the covid issues. The registrar said she saw no reason not to fly and wouldn't sign my travel insurance form to claim back cost of flights (these were booked before I was pregnant and we were not expecting a pregnancy). So I said to her that my flight provider needed a fit to fly note due to how far along I was and she wouldn't give me that either. Going to take it to my GP instead.

Sheera1 · 02/10/2020 10:28

Just reading some older posts. Watch the swelling in the hands, wrists etc. Itnis a sign of pre-eclampsia along with headaches and also can get a pain high upnin abdomen. If you are quite swollen I would mention it to your midwife, but also I know if could just be wonderful pregnancy weight gain too. Also gaining weight very suddenly is another sign xx

DueNumberTwo · 02/10/2020 14:13

Anyone else so grumpy today?

I've just talked to my mum and was having a bit of a moan about the fact that my driving test keeps getting cancelled by the centre (not going to be able to sit it now before baby comes), that I don't think I will get a new employment contract after it runs out in March, my dh has had to take a new job due to self employed contracts drying up, household income will be more than halved, he won't get any paternity leave, no one is allowed to visit households here for the foreseeable, no baby groups on, can't even go to our local library, can't take kids swimming etc.
I'm usually upbeat and positive and don't tend to whinge like this but it really feels quite a worrying time frankly and I needed to offload (I might add that she does this to me frequently).
My mums response "it could be worse. there was no baby groups when you were both small etc etc".

It's really annoyed me, for a start she wasn't giving birth in the middle of a pandemic, she didn't have a mortgage or a self employed husband to worry about or her own temporary contract to worry about. There obviously wasn't the choice of baby groups our generation has been lucky to have until recently but she definitely had the library, swimming and a toddler group to go to. There's literally nothing I can go to currently/when the baby is born.
She wasn't kicked straight out of hospital and left to fend for herself with another child to look after which will most likely be my situation. She was in for a week then my dad was at home for another week after that. Then she went to stay with her parents for a little while.
Could she not just say, "oh I know it will be hard" and make sympathetic noises?! Does she have to turn it into a 'well I had it harder" competition?!

Sorry for the rant Blush

Sairafina · 02/10/2020 16:34

Rant away @DueNumberTwo! Just because other people have had/or currently have it worse, that doesn't detract from the shitness of your own situation. We would never give ourselves permission to feel a little down if we were to always look for others who have it worse, as there will always be someone!

Mums (and MILs) are like that, I'm lucky to live 5000miles away from my family in that respect!

I've been to the gym this morning and ran a 5k, albeit at my slowest pace yet! Feel good for getting it done and can now start preparing my batch cooking list! DH is not at home in the kitchen so need to make sure the freezer is well stocked

DueNumberTwo · 02/10/2020 16:44

@Sairafina gym sounds good, I'm going swimming tomorrow which will be lovely. I have to tell ds I'm going to yoga as kids aren't allowed in! Luckily he doesn't wonder why my hair is wet when I come out.
I was working from home today but not busy so managed to sort a lot of stuff in the house which was good and made me feel better.

rainbows20 · 03/10/2020 07:38

Thank you for your replies regarding Prams. Still looking and deciding.

Have any you started washing the baby's clothes? I'm 32 weeks, just wondering if it's too soon? I kind of want to get it done but then also don't want to lose the fresh smell?

DueNumberTwo · 03/10/2020 07:49

@rainbows20 I've washed all of the clothes that I'll use in the first month and hung them in his wardrobe.
I've also washed blankets & sleeping bags.
Some is new and some was my sons.
