Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsAndMrs · 30/09/2020 10:54

I was told that my midwife would discuss arranging my whooping cough at my 24 wk appointment.

coastgirls · 30/09/2020 11:07

@holb54 thank you, looking forward to chatting with everyone soon

KatieG200394 · 30/09/2020 11:13

@holb54 I was told from 16 weeks too xx

aureliacecilia · 30/09/2020 12:11

I was told from 16 weeks too so I've got mine next week! I'd rather get it out of the way. I've got my flu jab in a few weeks too - you should book one too as pregnant women are more vulnerable to flu.

GreysLove · 30/09/2020 12:32

I'm in Scotland so a bit different, at my 12w scan I made my 20w scan app as well as a clinic app for the vaccination the same day. Got my 16w phonecall in 2 weeks so will ask then about flu vaccine- haven't updated my GP from when I last moved and moving again soon (will get registered somewhere closer) so would rather go to a local drop in clinic or something than head to my GP.

MrsAndMrs · 30/09/2020 13:08

@GreysLove I'm in Scotland too, had my 16 wk appointment yesterday. It was face to face but essentially pointless! Could have easily been done over the phone apart from my blood pressure and urine check. They told me at my 24 wk midwife app they will sort out whooping cough etc.....let me know if they tell you different! Seems everywhere does it differently! 😂

Thack · 30/09/2020 13:28

Is everyone going for the flu jab?
Has anyone had it yet/previously?

I'm pro- vaccination, but I've never had real flu or the jab so I'm worried that I would get the side affects.

aureliacecilia · 30/09/2020 13:34

I've had the flu jab about 4 times now, as my work offered it. It usually makes my arm ache for a day or two but no problems other than that. My DH had his on Saturday and felt lethargic for two days but not unwell. He's fine now. Mine is in a few weeks and I don't have any worries about it. DS will get his nasal spray vaccination in school.

Babafarmer · 30/09/2020 13:56

@holb54 I'm not sure. I just asked her at my 16 week appointment and she said it's available to be after 26weeks. I didn't question further. If I speak to her I will ask xx

@Thack I had mine last week and had a sore arm for a few days as it causes a local reaction. I've had it every year for the last 15 years due to work and always been ok. My DH has it for the first last week forced by me. For a couple of days after he felt a bit under the weather and flu like but it resolved its self xx

KatieG200394 · 30/09/2020 14:11

@Thack I had mine last week and I've been having them for the last 11 years, diagnosed asthmatic at 15 and honestly they're not that bad, achey arm for a few days and/or you might feel run down for a few days but definitely worth it ☺ xx

aureliacecilia · 30/09/2020 14:12

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/whooping-cough-vaccination-pregnant/

Says that the best time to get vaccinated to protect your baby is from 16 weeks up to 32 weeks of pregnancy.

holb54 · 30/09/2020 15:15

@Thack I've had it the past 5 years because of working in a hospital and have never had any symptoms! At most maybe a bit of a sore arm

@Babafarmer was just in at my 16 week appointment and doctor said more or less any time from 16 weeks

Clara9 · 01/10/2020 07:53

My morning sickness has come back at 15+3. Has this happen to anyone else? I had two weeks without it and now it’s back... feeling stressed and run down so maybe that’s it.

SnickerdoodleSnek · 01/10/2020 08:40

Yep, I've been having it first thing every day lately (15+3)! What's not helping me is having to wear PPE at school all day so fresh air is limited. 😩
loobyloo1234 · 01/10/2020 08:52

I've not had a full return of morning sickness but occasional waves of nausea and the worst bloody headache. I thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the fun part Grin

ChilternsHan · 01/10/2020 09:12

@loobyloo1234 the headaches are so bad! I have one every morning and sometimes for the entire day. I'm trying to drink as much water as possible but it doesn't always shift it!

Clara9 · 01/10/2020 09:37

Exactly the same here! PPE makes it so much worse. I’ve been sent home as I’m just not able to teach when I feel this ill! So upset, I thought I had left this behind with the first trimester, but apparently not!

loobyloo1234 · 01/10/2020 09:39

@ChilternsHan

I actually had a good night sleep last night (terrible by normal standards but ok by being pregnant standards) so I thought that was the key to it. Alas no, still the non stop mild headache all day. I wonder if there's something we are allowed to take as we shouldnt take ibuprofen right?

emmafou1807 · 01/10/2020 10:27

@loobyloo1234 paracetamol is safe in pregnancy. Some people can't take that for other reasons but pain killers wise I think if you can take them it's the one we're allowed

MrsAndMrs · 01/10/2020 10:32

@Clara9 mine still lingers and kicks my ass every other day along with headaches and heartburn! I still never really know what to eat that won't make me nauseous. I'm 16+2 now.....still waiting for the pregnancy 2nd trimester glow! 🥴

holb54 · 01/10/2020 11:58

@loobyloo1234 that's exactly how I've been, morning sickness never came back as such just occasional nausea and lack of appetite! The headaches can be brutal!

@MrsAndMrs still waiting on the glow too 😂 plenty of heartburn and headaches though, thinking of just saying feck it and putting a straw into the gaviscon to sip throughout the day!

MrsAndMrs · 01/10/2020 12:04

@holb54 aw man the Gaviscon! I accidentally got the aniseed to start with and if I wasn't sick before, I was then! Peppermint is going down like milkshake though! 😂

I had heartburn all through my last pregnancy and the minute he was out, it was gone! So mad! 😂

holb54 · 01/10/2020 12:04

@loobyloo1234 I ended up in A&E with a fractured coccyx at a month pregnant and they said to take paracetamol! I did repeatedly ask the doctors if it was definitely safe and they said it perfectly is once you don't exceed the dose, follow the instructions on the back, etc.

holb54 · 01/10/2020 12:08

@MrsAndMrs oh God no I love the aniseed, can't even look at the peppermint! Don't know why because I hate licorice but do like mint so not sure what's gone wrong there 😂

MrsAndMrs · 01/10/2020 12:32

@holb54 hahaha thats funny! I can't touch the aniseed, it reminds me of my younger days when I could handle shots on nights out! 😂🤢
