In honour of our third trimester I thought we should start a new thread!

OP posts:

Has anyone hired a TENS machine? I'm just looking into it and wondered if anyone had any recommendations? The companies (including Boots) all seem virtually the same with small variations on price only.

HarrietM87 · 10/10/2020 18:51

@MoreGinPlease2020 I bought mine. Was I think only about £15 more than hiring it, and I knew I wanted a second baby so thought it would be a good investment. I’ve lent it to about 10 friends and family as well which has been really nice. I have an Elle one - it was amazing in my first labour - highly recommend it!

Anotherboy · 10/10/2020 19:55

Good to know as I've just bought an Elle one from Amazon, on the same premise that it's not much more than renting. I didn't use one last time but my friend said it was great in the earlier stages. She also said make sure to get a pregnancy one as they're more powerful than the regular ones.

FudgeFlies · 11/10/2020 06:20

@MoreGinPlease2020 I was also thinking about hiring one. I found this website that hires for a reasonable length and time www.birthease.co.uk/product/elle-tens-hire/

MoreGinPlease2020 · 11/10/2020 09:25

@FudgeFlies That's the website I went with in the end.

@HarrietM87 I've gone with the Elle one (although have hired it), so am hoping I find it equally amazing!

Morning all, after some second opinions please. Just installed the car seat in the car ready, it's the Joie 360 isize ispin and although it's all installed correctly and all the indicators are green, I'm concerned with the amount of wobble there is! First time mum so clueless about what it should be like...any ideas? Doesn't look like I can post a video on here, but the base seems fixed but the actual seat part moves a lot when you give it a shake?
Thanks!!

Parentinfo · 12/10/2020 13:18

Does anyone know if Kingston hospital is currently allowing birth partners to stay overnight after birth ?

Pink15 · 12/10/2020 15:52

@Parentinfo I don't think any hospital is allowing partners over night - a lot didn't allow that even without covid!

FudgeFlies · 13/10/2020 15:48

@MillieFTM sorry I’m just as clueless but could you try and YouTube installation videos for some guidance?

Jen1311 · 13/10/2020 20:17

@MillieFTM I’m sure smyths toys will check car seats even if they weren’t bought there if you have one near you? We went to look at our one there and they said they would check it if we ordered it online even if we didn’t buy it from the shop. Might be worth a phone call to see if they will?

BeMorePacific · 14/10/2020 00:07

@MillieFTM it’s definitely worth checking to put your mind at ease. But I always find without the weight of a baby/child the seats always have a little bit of wobble to them x

GingerScallop · 14/10/2020 04:20

MillieFTM we have that for our two year old. He is tiny but yes it does have quite a bit of wobble. His head bounces around if road is bumpy. But baby may be in more of a repose position so that might not be too bad. Definitely have it checked out

Claremum20 · 14/10/2020 07:38

Due the 8th of November and joining in for the final countdown here 😊

littlegem84 · 14/10/2020 07:48

@Claremum20 welcome!

MrsR87 · 14/10/2020 12:43

Welcome. Not long to go now. I’m due on the 12th 😍

Claremum20 · 14/10/2020 13:03

Off to my midwives appointment this morning. Got sick and everything this morning...is anyone else feeling very nauseous still?

MillieFTM · 14/10/2020 14:00

Thanks all, had a good google and it seems others have asked the same question of this seat and Joie have confirmed a bit of a wobble is ok.

wannabebump · 15/10/2020 02:01

@MillieFTM glad you got sorted.

My insomnia is back 😣 anyone else!?

Wise0wl · 15/10/2020 09:39

@wannabebump I can get to sleep ok but from 4.30am every day I’m wide awake. I wish I’d known and got more sleep pre-pregnancy!

Jellycat2020 · 15/10/2020 10:18

@wannabebump yes but it's very hit and miss - last night was pretty good, apart from wee-breaks, I slept through til 8am, though I do toss and turn a bit. The night before was a disaster - couldn't get to sleep at all, eventually got a few hours, then awake again at 3.30am and gave up and went downstairs!

HarrietM87 · 15/10/2020 10:22

My insomnia is horrendous! I wake at 4 every day and can’t get back to sleep. My 2 year old comes in to us at 6.30 and I’m still working so zero chance of a lie in. I’m 37 weeks tomorrow and really looking forward to her being here now!

FilthyforFirth · 15/10/2020 14:28

I'm another one who gets to sleep easy enough but from 4ish I am wide awake. Still 'working' from home too so need to be logged on at 8. Last day is next Tuesday and I cant bloody wait.

How is everyone doing? Especially those due at the start of the month? Anyone thinking they might sneak into October?! I am so desperate to give birth I want to live through all of you! The HG is still raging and I'm seriously fed up...

SqidgeBum · 15/10/2020 14:35

I am SHATTERED too. A good night for me is 5 hours sleep. I have had 3 nights in the last month where I got over 6 hours. I am still WFH 3 days a week and have DD 2 days. DH lost 2 hours sleep the other night waiting up for me because I had to go to triage for reduced fetal movements. He was apparently 'very tired' in the morning because he only had 6 hours rather than his normal 8 ...... Men.

I am due the 2nd of November, so I am 37+3, and I am basically fed up. I am so sore, have heartburn, and the midwife has said baby is big. I had a bath last night with clary sage oil, I am bouncing on my ball, squatting, trying to walk around. I am hoping to sneak into October.

FilthyforFirth · 15/10/2020 15:27

Sounds awful @sqidgebum. I've got all my fingers crossed something happens soon. My section is booked in for Nov 18th which just seems so far away still!

HarrietM87 · 15/10/2020 16:56

I saw the consultant yesterday and they recommended an induction at 39 weeks, which would be 30 October - 5 Nov (I’m due 6 Nov), because the baby is measuring big. But I’ve said no and seeing him again on my due date. I’ve had a big baby before and haven’t found any evidence in favour of induction based on size alone (plus the scans are totally inaccurate) so quite confused and upset about it tbh. Would love to go into labour naturally before then so will try all the things, but not holding out much hope as did them all last time too and was 12 days overdue and induced!
