@Michellefamily wow congrats, so is this one unplanned? How do you feel about it?

This is my first pregnancy, I’ve had some bleeding and going to EPU on Thursday. I’m 8 weeks

Michellefamily · 05/10/2020 13:44

Hi thanks it was planned in a way but didn't think it would happen on our first try 🙈 I've always wanted 6 kids so I'm excited but also very nervous about what the other kids will think. I'm only 7.1 weeks. From what I hear it's very common for 1st trimester bleeding. So hopefully for u it's just part of ur implantation and ur body getting used to changing. Hope all goes well at ur appointment.

mummabubs · 05/10/2020 13:54

Fingers crossed for you for Thursday @Cafeaulait27. I'm ok, the nausea is pretty bad though and I've started being sick quite a lot too, so most of my colleagues at work know already! I've got a new member of staff that I supervise who started today so I'm desperately trying to appear professional and not let them see my frequent gagging or toilet dashes!

I definitely didn't appreciate enough the first time I was pregnant how I was able to rest up and have down time when feeling crappy - this time around with a 3 year old who (understandably) wants a lot of time, play and attention I'm finding it harder to be at home than in work in some ways!

Cafeaulait27 · 05/10/2020 14:42

@mummabubs that must be so difficult with work and a new starter! And does no one at your work know yet? I feel very lucky to be working from home at the moment particularly as it’s been such a worrying time lately.

I was told to do a test today by the EPU, I had to get a weeks indicator one. It came back pregnant 3+ which I guess is the best outcome I could get from a test at this stage. I know it doesn’t really mean anything as I could have had a mmc and my body is still producing the hormones, but I’m just glad it didn’t come back as less than 3 Weeks or not pregnant.

Hope you manage to get some rest at some point!

Cafeaulait27 · 05/10/2020 16:01

Red blood again just now when I went to the toilet ☹️ Like watery red rather than the mucus red on Friday/Saturday morning.

I’m in a bit of a panic now, got to try to not think about it but struggling so much.

Still no clots or anything... just watery red. I almost wonder if I’m irritating my vagina by constantly going to the toilet and checking? I do a lot of walking, maybe I’m irritating it by walking too much?

I really don’t know, and I won’t know til Thursday but it’s so difficult ☹️☹️☹️

DiabeticFirstBaby · 05/10/2020 16:15

@Cafeaulait27 You might be irritating your vagina if you are sticking your fingers up (sorry) to check every time you go to the toilet. I was checking constantly after i had my brown discharge but then decided i'd stop and just leave a panty liner on to see if anything came out. Your at risk of introducing bacteria in too.
It must be so worrying, I know it was awful when i had to wait 2 days to go to EPU for my examination and scan. I really do hope everything looks ok on Thursday.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/10/2020 16:24

@DiabeticFirstBaby I haven’t stuck my fingers up, but I wonder if I am wiping a bit too much with the tissue (I sort of press slightly to see if anything is at the opening of the vagina) sorry for tmi! And I have been going to the toilet loads... I hope that explanation made sense.

I guess I’m just clutching at straws ☹️

Thank you for your support it’s so helpful xxx

stairway · 05/10/2020 16:31

Cafeaulait27 it could be a hematoma.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/10/2020 16:43

@stairway oh maybe? Have you had one? I have read a bit about them and I would be relieved if it was that instead of the other thing. Xxx

Michellefamily · 05/10/2020 16:43

@cafeaulait27 About 25 percent of pregnant women are estimated to experience spotting during their first 12 weeks of pregnancy. One study from 2010 found that spotting is most commonly seen in the sixth and seventh weeks of pregnancy. Spotting wasn't always a sign of miscarriage or meant that something was wrong.

stairway · 05/10/2020 16:45

Not me personally but it seems quite common from what other people have experienced, they might be able to identify it on your scan on Thursday , it usually doesn’t trigger a miscarriage.

bananallamas · 05/10/2020 16:58

Hi all I'm quite late to the party but I'd like to join the thread please, according to my dates I'm 9+1 but I know I ovulated late and the early scan I had today puts me at 8 weeks with an EDD of 17th May :-) This will hopefully be baby #2 for me, I have a 21 month old daughter already. I did have a MC in February this year so I'm a bit more anxious this time round than last (although my pregnancy with my daughter wasn't exactly straightforward either!). Look forward to sharing the journey with everyone x

bananallamas · 05/10/2020 17:00

PS. @Cafeaulait27 I think I commented on your thread but I also have had some bleeding and it seems to be a subchorionic haematoma which they will monitor at the scans but aren't too concerned about, hopefully yours is something similar x

DiabeticFirstBaby · 05/10/2020 17:13

@Cafeaulait27 i see what you mean, yes you may be irritating a bit. All you can do is try and relax and wish the days away till Thursday comes and you will know. When you want something, you just want to know now, i know that. it's hard when all the healthcare professionals seem so relaxed about it, my GP said there's you can do to change the course of what's happening which is hard to think about it. I did a lot of reading around and i think it is more common than what's talked about having bleeding in first trimester. 🤞🏻 all's ok .

Michellefamily · 05/10/2020 17:29

Can I just ask where is everyone from. I'm from N Ireland and I informed my GP 2 weeks ago abt being pregnant so still waiting to hear back from anyone above her. Regarding I'm class as high risk I would of assumed I would have had an appointment by now.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/10/2020 17:41

@bananallamas welcome and thank you so much for posting on the other thread to me. It’s so reassuring to know I’m not alone xx

@DiabeticFirstBaby thank you so much. Fingers crossed and yes I cannot change the outcome so I may as well chill out and try to hope x

@Michellefamily I’m in Sussex, I think I heard back after about 10 days. It says on the website to chase if you haven’t heard within two weeks, so maybe call them? Xx

Michellefamily · 05/10/2020 17:45

Thank you @cafeaulait27. I may do so as I think I am anemia. Had same problem in last 3 pregnancy's and this nausea is killing me.

Cafeaulait27 · 06/10/2020 09:18

@Michellefamily let us know how it goes when you call them. It seems to be a really mixed bag with care across the country. Xxx

Just a little update - after a bit more red when I wiped yesterday I’m now getting dark brown watery a bit like at the end of a period. I’m glad it’s not red but not hugely reassured... last night I was losing my mind with worry. I think for the next few days I might try to get off my phone and stop googling / mumsnet, I can’t change the outcome by obsessively researching it. Xxx

Michellefamily · 06/10/2020 16:42

@cafeaulait27. I'm still waiting for my GP to ring me back. Hope you OK please try to relax and stay positive.

Cafeaulait27 · 06/10/2020 17:56

Hi @Michellefamily thank you, I’m trying to... I go up and down, one minute I think it’s definitely going to be ok and the next I feel like it’s all over ☹️

Could you try contacting the maternity unit of your hospital? I didn’t contact my gp at all, I just went straight to the maternity unit who have a form online to self refer, and a number to call if I didn’t hear back in two weeks. Is that possible in your area? Xx

CatLady20 · 06/10/2020 20:25

@Michellefamily I'm from N Ireland too. I called my GP when I was 5 weeks, got the letter 3 weeks later with my first scan and booking appointment in one for when I'm 11w4 (only 2 weeks to go!). It's a 2hr appointment so guessing they just go through everything then? I'm a FTM so not sure what usually happened pre-covid though

Rascalia86 · 06/10/2020 21:05

@Michellefamily I'm in Shropshire 😁 I'm 9 weeks 2 days according to my early scan from last week. This is my first pregnancy. I didnt get my appointment through till last week and I let them know at the 4 week point, so it took them a while. But apparently there's a baby boom forecasted for early next year, so that could be why. 😅

Michellefamily · 07/10/2020 07:58

@cafeaulait27 It's a very emotional time and I'm sure ur hormones r all over the place know knowing what is going on. Only one day till ur appointment hopefully then ull hv some answers and feel more assured. I've always went straight to my GP so will check out and see abt going to midwife in our local hospital.

Michellefamily · 07/10/2020 08:02

@CatLady20 thank u. Hopefully my GP rings me back today as I've been up sick all night. This nausea is the worst I've ever had. My hubby is now convinced it's twins 😂

Michellefamily · 07/10/2020 08:05

@Rascalia86 thank u.
