Anyone else playing the waiting game for baby

I'm 39 weeks today, so baby could come at any time.
I'm due to have a sweep next week, so I'm hoping that'll get baby moving!

Is anyone else playing the waiting game?

Morning everyone! Just to let you know I had my baby girl yesterday (Tuesday at 41+5), finally!
My midwife came on Monday for my 8th sweep and gave me a 25 minute foot rub (reflexology points).
Woke up Tuesday/yesterday after a bad night’s sleep and my body did feel different down below. Potential contractions from about 9am; went for a walk from 11am to 12pm with contractions every 5 mins. Strong contractions started when I got back through the door just after 12pm. Midwife came about 12:30pm and baby born at home at 14:45. Unfortunately had to come into hospital for surgery (birth was fine but reopened previous birth scar) and stay overnight - and I’ve not slept at all!! So tired! But I got my home birth yay!
Good luck to you all - you can do it! X

Realladymarmalade · 26/08/2020 05:45

Congrats yimmy mummy

Eight sweeps? Jesus. I've had two but turned down a third.
Nothing doing , just losing plug.
I'm getting induced Thursday. Dc3. 39+4.
Mighty fed up and awake with my overthinking brain 🤯😉 will now RTFT

Realladymarmalade · 26/08/2020 05:48

twinklestars I hear your (period) pain .

Hot water bottles here..anyone got any heat pad recommendations for labour ?

Any one else walking up with sore shoulder and random pain bc of static sleeping position ? I literally cant move!

Ginblooded · 26/08/2020 06:53

Congratulations @YummyInMyTummy that's amazing news 😁

41 weeks today here, period pains the last couple of nights but all gone by the morning 🙄 been awake since 5:15 so hopefully will have a long nap later!

@Realladymarmalade yes, I get So stiff in the night, presumably because of static sleeping position. I have to shuffle to the toilet in the night like an oap 😂

MizMoonshine · 26/08/2020 07:05

Congratulations @YummyInMyTummy!

So from being 2/5ths engaged and having no signs at 40+0 11:30AM, my waters spontaneously ruptured at 14:30. Went into hospital at 10:30, was 3CM. 12:03 little Daisy was born. I've been at home since just before 5, and she currently snuffling away at the boob for her 4th feed.

Everything happened so fast I have no bloody idea how 😂

Hope everyone else is doing great and many babies are on their way!

Jomum2020 · 26/08/2020 07:13

Congratulations @YummyInMyTummy!! Do you have a name yet? Xx

Jomum2020 · 26/08/2020 07:14

@MizMoonshine congratulations too!! Daisy; what a beautiful name, so glad to hear you are both settled at home already.

A19C27 · 26/08/2020 09:17

Congrats @YummyInMyTummy & @MizMoonshine ❤️

TMI but, had sex last night and then I started to have contractions for about 3 hours - didn’t get painful but uncomfortable and regular - finally managed to fall asleep and woke up this morning livid I hadn’t gone into full labour over night 😆
Still having tightenings regularly I’m just ignoring them. My labours have previously been so short and unexpected I’m not loving this long build up

MizMoonshine · 26/08/2020 09:56

@A19C27 I think the sex thing is a lie that dad's pay midwives to perpetuate! Literally just the threat of the midwife performing a sweep was enough to scare mine out.

A19C27 · 26/08/2020 10:02

@MizMoonshine 🤣 my midwife won’t come near me due to COVID no chance of a sweep

Jomum2020 · 26/08/2020 10:33

Just been in for my repeat sweep, crappy bishops score of 3?!!!?? 😭😭😭😭 booked in for induction next week. Feeling deflated.

TwinkleStars15 · 26/08/2020 13:45

Congratulations @YummyInMyTummy and @MizMoonshine! Amazing news.

@Jomum2020 I’m just about to go in for my second sweep. She didn’t give me a bishops score last time but said cervix was 1cm, soft and stretchy and central. I’ll ask her today though. I know I’m going to be so disappointed if all these cramps the last week have done nothing, trying not to get my hopes up though, I’m only 39 weeks.

A19C27 · 27/08/2020 09:37

Morning ladies, any over night updates??
I’m still pregnant and Katy Perry has only gone an announced her babies arrival on my due date - livid 😅

OverdueFirstTimeMama · 27/08/2020 10:03

I am loving reading all these updates, they have made me chuckle. Congratulations to all of you who have welcomed their little bundles of joy over the last few days. I am currently 40+5, feeling very achy and lots of pressure down low.

What other ‘signs’ have any of you had? I felt a bit crampy yesterday but nothing major at all, just uncomfortable to walk now. TMI sorry but I’ve also been constipated a lot the last few months but this week seem to be back to normal, could this be a sign? Who knows! Xx

TwinkleStars15 · 27/08/2020 10:16

4 hours of BH/contractions last night and a very sore, achy tummy this morning Sad They weren’t painful, but they weren’t painless either... No idea what’s going on.
I like that Katy Perry gave her daughter a ‘normal life name, Daisy is lovely.

UrsulaSings · 27/08/2020 11:59

Congratulations to those who have had their babies!

I had a 3rd sweep yesterday and lost my plug this morning. She said my cervix was more central, shorter and softer so all good signs!

I'm torn between wanting my baby naturally and him being born in August, therefore youngest in year, and wanting him not to come until Sept so he will start school a whole year later and be oldest in year, but then that means he'd arrive via induction as I'm being induced on Sept 1st!

Ideal world, go into labour on 31st and have him on sept 1st! Grin

UrsulaSings · 27/08/2020 12:01

@TwinkleStars15 I think 'pre labour' or 'latent' labour can go on for quite some time unfortunately... Sad I hope it turns into something for you soon though!

mable88 · 27/08/2020 12:21

So the saga continued 😂 another awful night Wednesday so back I went to The labour ward Thursday morning begging for more diamorphine and another nap, which they kindly gave me, as well as a sweep showing I was 3cm dilated. Went home but in the car starting having constant contractions which were agony - couldn’t sleep through them, despite the presence of the drugs still. Thought as well my waters may have gone. Couldn’t breathe, walk, talk so husband bundled me back off to the labour ward, who by that time were sick of the sight of me 😂 so they agreed to give me an epidural and break my waters to get things shifted (as they would have done at my booked induction today). The epidural was utter heaven and they also have me a hormone drip to speed things up. Spoiler - it didn’t, by 1am I was only just at 5cm. So the decision was made, given the slow progress and the fact that my kidney function has gone very weird while I was in labour plus baby had done a poo in her waters, to give me a cesarean. And out popped our 9lb 13oz chunk of a daughter - given that it turned out she was back to back (only spotted by the midwife I saw yesterday!! And @TwinkleStars15, of course) and enormous, that explains the ridiculously long early labour and makes it unlikely I’d have been able to deliver naturally anyway! BUT I don’t care about any of it because baby is here and she’s gorgeous and I am so in love with her 🥰🥰🥰

MizMoonshine · 27/08/2020 13:04

@mable88 oh Jesus what an ordeal! I'm so glad your baby is here though!

Katy bloody Perry robbing my name. How very dare she.

YummyInMyTummy · 27/08/2020 17:19

Thank you everyone!

Congrats @MizMoonshine - wow what an update!

London91 · 27/08/2020 20:03

Congratulations@MizMoonshine @YummyInMyTummy @mable88! Glad babies arrived safely. Smile

ImaSababa · 31/08/2020 17:19

It's my due date today! No signs yet.

TwinkleStars15 · 31/08/2020 17:34

Baby Theo born at 10.41am this morning, at home in the birth pool. Midwives came out at 6.30am, checked at 7am and was 2cm!! So they left. Called back at 9.45am and she walked through the door as I was pushing him out.

OverdueFirstTimeMama · 31/08/2020 18:37

Congratulations those who have welcomed their babas! I am 9 days overdue and not really had any signs. I am booked to be induced on Thursday xx
