Anyone else playing the waiting game for baby

I'm 39 weeks today, so baby could come at any time.
I'm due to have a sweep next week, so I'm hoping that'll get baby moving!

Is anyone else playing the waiting game?

@YummyInMyTummy I have my fingers crossed for you. Lots of chocolate and happy thoughts to get the oxytocin flowing!! X

Jomum2020 · 22/08/2020 22:22

@Chocforthewin I was nearly that person for you Today haha I was wondering how you were getting on and was going to message and ask! (Sorry...not sorry, just so excited for all these babies!)

YummyInMyTummy · 23/08/2020 13:53

@Jomum2020 thank you and same to you!! It’s so frustrating!
Have my 8th sweep tomorrow or the day after - doubt there’s any point!

mable88 · 23/08/2020 14:57

Well, thought it was all kicking off last night - started having contractions at about 10pm, which quickly ramped up to every ten minutes. Was awake all night having progressively stronger contractions, got to about 5 mins apart by about 11am this morning. Then started to slow down... to the point where I could go to sleep. Then realised that baby had slowed down too, so I called the labour ward and went in for monitoring. All was fine and the midwife told me that it wasn’t unusual to have contractions which then tail off, it’s just the body getting ready. So all in all, started very promisingly and now I am feeling very deflated and that all the agony overnight has just got to be repeated before much longer! 😢 😩

MizMoonshine · 23/08/2020 17:43

@mable88 that sounds like absolute hell.

TwinkleStars15 · 23/08/2020 18:56

How’s everyone doing today?

I lost my plug/had a show Friday morning - why am I still pregnant?!

mable88 · 23/08/2020 19:33

@MizMoonshine it’s not been the most fun! I sort of didn’t mind at the time because I thought it meant baby was properly on the way but now I’ve got the prospect of another night of no sleep and contractions I could just cry. Have lost my mucus plug today though and the midwife and doctor at the hospital both thought it likely that it wouldn’t be too much longer before baby makes an appearance. So 🤞 baby gets her act together tonight!!

MizMoonshine · 23/08/2020 20:08

@mable88 I'll cross everything for you but my legs. Cause I'm really hoping for a swift eviction myself!

YummyInMyTummy · 24/08/2020 08:45

Fingers crossed for you @mable88 - hope today is the day!

Anything happened this weekend @TwinkleStars15?

I had my first sweep 3 weeks & 1 day ago and I lost my plug 2 weeks & 4 days ago. I have my 8th sweep booked for this afternoon (41+4 today). I have so much pressure down below that walking is uncomfortable, but then I feel bad for not going for long walks. Then again, I went for many long walks every day with my first and still had to have my waters broken at 42 weeks Angry

I’ve tried spicy curry twice, spicy pizza, raspberry leaf tea, sniffing & bathing in clary sage oil, prunes, reflexology, bouncing on the ball, walking, expressing, squats... husband won’t try sex because the midwife can feel the baby’s head during my sweeps.

Hope everyone is doing okay today!

mable88 · 24/08/2020 08:46

Still no baby 😩 another delightful night of contractions every ten minutes and no sleep though! 😬 not sure what to do apart from wait, labour ward not interested but I can’t take another day of this!! 😢

Chocforthewin · 24/08/2020 10:03

41 weeks today & baby is 2/5 engaged 😩 Midwife said it was a partly successful sweep today. I feel all your pains ladies. I stupidly thought baby would be early. I hope the babies come soon for us all 🙏🏻

TwinkleStars15 · 24/08/2020 10:36

@YummyInMyTummy no baby! Similar to @mable88 I had some more pains/aches every 8 minutes between 8pm and 9pm but then they stopped, again. I think feeding my toddler to sleep at night sets them off? I’ve also got a constant tummy ache, yesterday I felt sick a lot of the day and also more discharge than usual (sorry, tmi).

I stupidly got my hopes up when I had the ‘show’ but that was 3 days ago now. I’ve got a bit of PGP so long walks are out of the question, it’s too painful!

The lovely Osteopath I saw on Friday text and offered me a free ‘top up’ tomorrow, which is thought was really kind. Hopefully this time baby will cooperate and get into a better position, I think labour would then start more easily, rather than this stop/start malarkey.

@mable88 is baby back to back? That can cause stop start labour (mine is).

MizMoonshine · 24/08/2020 10:42

Right @mable88 set yourself up for squats and play with your nipples all day. Don't let anyone interrupt you. Just bounce and tweak. Bounce and tweak!

London91 · 24/08/2020 14:02

Still no movement here either Envy I'm booked for my sweep tomorrow. So I'm keeping them crossed.

How are you all feeling today?

OP posts:
MizMoonshine · 24/08/2020 14:44

@London91 good luck for tomorrow. I'm due tomorrow, looks like I'll be waddling around to visit the midwife instead of pushing out a baby though.
No movement at all.

TwinkleStars15 · 24/08/2020 15:31

@London91 got second sweep booked for Wednesday too. Good luck tomorrow.

@MizMoonshine don’t be disheartened, with my first pregnancy I had no labour signs at all. First niggle was at 1.30pm and she was born at 8.30pm.

MizMoonshine · 24/08/2020 15:39

@TwinkleStars15 ooh that sounds like a dream come true right now.
With my first I woke up at 10am with broken waters and he was born 9am the next day.

A19C27 · 24/08/2020 16:39

Hi all hope you don’t mind me joining in 39+4 today with baby no.4 I’ve had on and off cramping for a few days, increased trips to the toilet and been loosing my mucus plug although not bloody or anything so I’m starting to think I’m just imagining every symptom 😑 so fed up with being pregnant now, BH are so uncomfortable at times and the pressure I’m feeling down below is just crazy I feel like my waters could just burst any minute.
My midwives aren’t offering sweeps at the moment - apparently due to COVID although I didn’t realise you could contract it that way 😅
I’m never even going to know if I’m dilating or anything until I’m in full on labour.
I watching one born every min last night at 1am whilst I couldn’t sleep I really don’t know why I’m willing these pains to start but I am 😂😂

TwinkleStars15 · 24/08/2020 16:47

@A19C27 Another nowhere watching OBEM in the hope of it kick starting something Blush
I can imagine the headlines now “breaking news - pregnant lady contracts Coronavirus in her vagina!” What a load of rubbish. If you there for the appointment anyway, what different does it make? I had one last week and have another booked for Wednesday. I’m really hoping that the last 5 days worth of period pains, strong Braxton Hicks and losing my plug has actually done something down there!

Jomum2020 · 24/08/2020 16:50

Hey ladies! Sounds like everyone is getting close... rubbish when you get your hopes up then the pain disappears!!

I wakened up feeling quite depressed that nothing was progressing... however! At my mw appointment baby has finally engaged and she was able to give me a sweep woohoo!!! I have been achy since then. I amnt holding my breath at the moment that it’ll work but I’m just pleased atleast now baby’s head is engaged it feels like I’m going in the right direction!!

Welcome @A19C27. No4!! You’ll be a total expert at all this pregnancy stuff and able to keep us all right!

A19C27 · 24/08/2020 16:55

Thanks @Jomum2020 it’s been 6 and a half years since my youngest was born so I feel like I’ve forgotten everything now haha.
I know @TwinkleStars15 I felt abit wierd being disappointed but it’s just like something to aim for isn’t it knowing that if I get to this point they’ll do something but apparently it’ll just be induction at 12 days over! Best not get their though my first was 2 weeks late and induced, second was born on her due date and 3rd was 3 days late so the midwife does seem to think It won’t be too long but I feel like she’s jinxed me now

Jomum2020 · 24/08/2020 16:57

Sweep question everyone...
so afterwards the mw had bloody mucus on her glove. So I came home and put a pad on. I have had sort of a light period of brown blood. But now and again I can feel a little trickle of liquid. Defo more fluid than discharge. Is this what you guys have generally been having? Am I over analysing haha or could my waters be leaking...?
I have been on my feet all day, can’t really do the lie down for 30 mins then stand up test for waters with a 2.5 year old in the house.

TwinkleStars15 · 24/08/2020 17:23

@Jomum2020 A bit of bleeding after a sweep is normal as it’s aggravated the cervix a little. Personally, I’ve had a lot more discharge the last week, noticeably so, but don’t think it’s waters, just another pregnancy joy! If you’re worried you could always call and ask?

A19C27 · 24/08/2020 17:26

Sounds like a show, great sign that it’s done something! My midwife said to me to look at whether it’s sitting on top of the pad (discharge) or soaking through it (waters) if that makes sense she also said before try cutting it in half and you’d be able to see if it’s soaked in x

UrsulaSings · 24/08/2020 19:42

Hi everyone! I'm 38 weeks today and booked in for an induction at 39+1. Hoping that baby makes an appearance before then! Had a sweep on thurs where midwife said I was 1cm dilated, but then had another sweep saturday where midwife said my cervix was still long and posterior and it might be slightly open at the end but it was still closed at the top Sad

Since then had a bit of mucus but not a lot. Been having Braxton hicks on and off. Also pains on and off, but that's been happening for weeks so nothing new there!

Think its unlikely baby will be here before I'm booked in for induction!
