@Treacle81 -I'm getting growth scans every 4 weeks but she's always on or around 50th percentile! I get extra scans at fetal medicine anyway even if they're not concerned about growth as I'm high risk consultant led care!
Eveytime I get my bump measured tho I always measure 2 ahead and do my bump size if off the chart as above the 95th but baby is totally in the middle!
I don't eat loads more than normal but my craving this time is carrot stick which is good coz they also stop my heartburn which I get every hour that I don't eat! I take some everywhere with me!

I've not really put weight on anywhere else so I'm assuming it's fluid! Xx

Treaclepie19 · 26/08/2020 22:21

@MrsK89 they can feel it apparently! She felt round my bump and put it in my app. She didn't tell me but I checked the app after.
Means nothing really but made me feel better about all the pressure pain.

@BntTowers that's really awful they do that, very unfair on you but sounds like you have your head screwed on and what you say makes total sense. Everyone just has to do what's best for them.
@MrsK89 @otterbaby my midwife said to complete something on the app too for my birth plan at 36 weeks but I can't find it on there?!

BntTowers · 26/08/2020 23:06

@blankiesandunicorns I already know they are both going to want me to bf when they are around at the moment I'm not comfortable with that. I think I'm maybe stressing out a little early with it all, it's just I find them both very full on at the moment and I struggle to not be stroppy about them after they leave to DH which I think he is starting to find a bit annoying.

MrsK89 · 27/08/2020 00:16

@Treaclepie19 that sounds great, least you know things are moving in the right direction!

I have a scan first week of September so hopefully I can speak to the consultant after regarding the birth plan. I may even find out if I'm getting induced. I really do hope I don't get induced, when I was with first baby it felt so much more intense and longggg compared to spontaneous birth.

Getting nervous now and the little ones keep asking me whether I'm bringing the baby home every time I go in for bloods 😂

MrsK89 · 27/08/2020 00:20

I also had a random electric shock kind of feeling in my right thigh. It was very strange 🤔

NWnature · 27/08/2020 01:05

@MrsK89 how come you don’t want the injection for the placenta? I’ve not read up on the pros / cons yet! X

Quiffy · 27/08/2020 07:48

@BntTowers HAPPY 30TH!! The wildlife park sounds excellent (I went to the Highland Wildlife Park for my 30th last year and adored it). The BF lectures are beyond rude, if bf goes good then great, if you're struggling and baby isnt getting enough it's daft to harm your MH over it. People. Are. Fun.

Does anyone get annoyed when people that you're not very close to ask what you plan to do? My BIL asked DH what my feeding choices are. They aren't very close and only really see at big events like weddings. DH said I was undecided as he felt it was a bit personal to ask when we hardly speak and I probably looked livid from across the room. MIL was then asking if I was "allowed" (???) an epidural and what my exact birth plan was - but again asked DH and not me. I'll happily tell you all everything as we're all in this together and there's no judgment. Just feel they should keep out of the lady plumbing business and focus on the baby. Might be crazy hormones though...

@Treacle81 definite appetite increase here, I feel like a hobbit with all the meals/snacks but my stomach rumbles like crazy until I eat.

@Spark27 the ONS names were interesting, I thought mine would be on it but nop!

Fell asleep at my laptop yesterday after decorators left. DH didn't want to wake me, which was sweet but I lost nearly a full afternoon of work time. Still loads to do before I can stop boo.

blankiesandunicorns · 27/08/2020 07:51

@BntTowers that sounds really stressful and awkward. Of course it your decision how you feed your baby and don't have to explain it to anyone. I hope they calm down for when the baby is born. Happy birthday! Hope you have a lovely time.

I would say my biggest current stress is my misbehaving dog, we've got a dog behaviourist come Monday to start sessions with us. I need to get this sorted before baby comes for my sanity 😫

MrsK89 · 27/08/2020 08:17

@NWnature they didn't give me a choice last time and just injected me, literally minutes after I had DD.
Feel like my body wasn't given a chance ryk get ready.
I then had painful prolonged bleeding and they thought parts of the placenta was still stuck inside after a couple of months.
Just a bit traumatised still from the whole experience, but if I have issues delivering after 30 mins or whatever it is I won't say no.

Spark27 · 27/08/2020 08:45

Morning ladies. Happy birthday @BntTowers.🥳 I had a great nights sleep last night. Yay! And I didnt sleep with my pregnancy pillow. Not sure of that had anything to do with it, or my body was just so tired it had to sleep.
Usually I get woken up loads by baby kicking off, so I'm going to have a stressful morning until she starts again. Seems I can either be tired but with loads of movement, or rested and stressed 🙄

All the bf questions from family/friends are annoying. Yeah, if I can bf great- save time (maybe?) and money, but if I cant or its difficult then I'll move to formula. Formula these days is so amazing that I really cant see any issue. It's only the colostrum they miss, and our MH is so important.

Our name is really low on the list, and there were only 3 out of 900+ babies called that where I live, so I'm happy with that. My DDs name is more common, but still only around the late 20's.

MummyBearBoo · 27/08/2020 08:48

I'm literally getting through a bag of carrots a day I started crying last week when I ran out! I bet I'll be sick of carrots after this!!
DH has to keep going to the shop to buy two bags every other day I can't help it I just crave them, they help with heartburn and I can't stop eating them!!
I'm on iron tablets which usually block me up so coz carrots are high in fibre think they're helping that too!!
So baby hospital bag us packed and I've just got to put makeup and some spare clothes in my bag!

Is everyone taking cotton wool balls? Ive packed some but we only ever you water wipes so ive packed then too and meconium is so sticky I really don't like using cotton wool balls!! Are mw'a ok about us using water wipes -I will be using them when we're home anyway?

Happy birthday @BntTowers xxx

MrsK89 · 27/08/2020 08:53

@MummyBearBoo I'm packing cotton wool aswel incase they say no to water wipes

NWnature · 27/08/2020 09:05

Ah interesting @MrsK89 thanks!

mamamemmmer · 27/08/2020 10:40

@NWnature

Lovely bump pics! I am constantly starving at the mo and also in the shit sleep club. My hips get so tingly I am constantly swapping side to side in the night then let myself go on my back but mega propped up almost sitting for the last few hours from 5.30ish to 7 . Once my husband gets out of bed I get another 30mins or so as can stretch out a bit more. It’s definitely been a corona blessing for me though as if it was “normal” times I wouldn’t get back from the office til 8ish most nights plus have probably 3 eves a week with either work events or social so much later and I used to get up at 6.15am - now I sleep in til 7.30 before rolling 2 metres to my desk 😆 Makes a massive difference.

Baby has been really quiet today , my kicks count app average is 7 movements a day. But they are pretty mild, husband barely ever able to catch them and feel. Also my baby is going against the norm it seems as it’s usually mega quiet at night and I get most of the “movement” mid day. So weird how different they can be in there!

My first baby's movements ended up coninciding with how she slept when she was born. She was reaaaaally active at night but not during the day so your movements sound promising in terms of future sleep!!
mamamemmmer · 27/08/2020 10:53

@bnttowers Sod what they think about bf - has anyone ever asked an adult (or child for that matter) if they were breast or formula fed? Just do what works for you and baby! I wanted to bf with my first but couldn't as she wouldn't latch on and I actually much preferred bottle in the end anyway. I'm going to try and combi feed this time but I am bottle ready and I've had some grumbles about the bottle from relatives, but my daughter was formula fed and is amazing so they can't say a bad word about it really!

@treacle81 I'm addicted to ice, crave it constantly!!

EllieGolightly · 27/08/2020 11:32

@BntTowers @Spark27 everyone thinks they know best, my sister is evangelical about not bfing! All hers were formula fed and slept a good 6-7 hour stretch at night by the time they were 8 weeks old. I'm not saying they weren't happy well fed babies, but it's not the most important thing to me for LO to sleep through the night in the first 8 weeks! If I can establish bfing I'll be thrilled, and hopeful I will be able to combi feed so DH can have some bonding time over some milk, then establish good routine for baby after a few months. Her youngest is 13 now and she's very dismissive of a lot of new advice, like not keeping them in car seats too long etc. Its hard to get the balance of listening to experience and listening to actual current research! I'm quite a defiant person by nature too, so that doesn't help, haha.

@MummyBearBoo I'm just bringing water wipes. I've seen how ineffective cotton wool is for those first black tar poos! I think the notion you're "not allowed" anything but cotton wool and water is ridiculous, that's one of those new rules I will be disregarding!

Went for my fortnightly growth scan / diabetic team check up on Tuesday, OB estimated baby at 6lb 7 at 33 + 4 Shock that's the biggest jump yet in a fortnight, most times it's around 1lb, but this time its 1lb 7oz on... I'm hoping it's not too accurate, as she's almost outgrown some of the first size babygrows I bought her. Thank goodness I only bought three!

Got info about breech baby in case she doesn't turn, and shoulder dystocia in case she does, feels like a bit of a lose lose situation, but if she doesn't turn and I go for ELCS then the risk is on me, not baby, so I'm still torn about benefits of vaginal vs risks. Next appointment is at 35+5 so hopeful for more clarity then. Been watching One Born Every Minute with OH but just feel like I'm not going to get one of those births, no MLU at my local hospital and due to my risk factors I wouldn't be on one anyway.

NWnature · 27/08/2020 11:50

@mamamemmmer OMG this sounds ideal!!!! Haha! Will keep everything crossed!!! x

@EllieGolightly glad growth scan was ok - everything I read says that the weight estimates are so unreliable so I wouldn't dwell on anything! Hopefully they can give you some more guidance at the next appointment. I'm too scared to watch OBEM! Have you looked up any of the Positive Birth Company / hypnobirthing stuff? They talk about a range of different types of births and just focus on controlling the bits of the process which you can (not much granted!) but I think for me it will help to be realistic that things will go awry on the day but if I can hold onto some constant things to ground myself that will be good.

EllieGolightly · 27/08/2020 12:16

@NWnature I bought the Milli Hill positive birthing book, but I feel like it's not really for me. It questions whether gestational diabetes even exists, so that was the first sign it's not going to be able to address my concerns. It would be good for mums with no other risk factors, but with GDM and high BMI I have to be realistic about the need for a "medicalised" birth for babys safety.

It's nice to think it'll all be fine and she'll engage soon and I'll be able to deliver vaginally with no interventions, but I feel secure when I've prepared for the worst, then I know things can only be better than expected.

I could post the positive birth book to anyone that was thinking of buying it!

Spark27 · 27/08/2020 12:39

I'm just packing wipes. Unless they tell me before I have to I'm not packing any cotton wool. I hate using cotton wool, and it's a nightmare with the sticky first poo. If they insist I have to use cotton wool they can give me some.

mamamemmmer · 27/08/2020 13:22

@Spark27 Oh my god cotton wool did nothing for my little one when she was born and when I saw everyone else around me using wipes I couldn't believe it 🙈. I'm using wipes this time 100%! X

MummyBearBoo · 27/08/2020 13:25

Think I'll pack both water wipes and cotton wool,

Just got done good news -my anaesthetist called so I can now sort my birth plan when I see my consultant a week on Tuesday but she also said that partners are now discouraged from leaving once you're admitted to the maternity ward and delivery suite as it was causing too much foot traffic so my DH will be able to stay with me for the whole thing (I have to go in from the first signs of labour)! Xx

Treacle81 · 27/08/2020 13:29

Hey girls! Happy 30th @BntTowers 💐🎉🎊 Glad you finally got a decent sleep @Spark27 I did too, baby just didn't move much which was great, got 8 hrs!!! He's making up for it now but that's fine. @MummyBearBoo that's good to know it most likely is a lot of fluid then, oh must try the carrots! Heartburn been bloody awful again and it's actually affecting my voice now as burning throat so bad. Going to try the double action Gaviscon and carrots lol. I will be taking cotton pads, that's my compromise lol, certainly not balls as they are just useless xx

HerondaleDucks · 27/08/2020 23:50

Happy Birthday @BntTowers! I think I've made it by the skin of my teeth.
Hope you've had a lovely day!

Indigogirl88 · 28/08/2020 07:58
