Does anyone have any tips for heartburn? Doesn't matter what I eat, just constant heartburn and milk doesn't help Sad

Treaclepie19 · 20/08/2020 20:54

@MrsK89 I've just been drinking lots of milk and Gaviscon. Hope it eases for you ❤

I went and had my bloods done for the itching so that's a job off my list. Hoping dh can get my birthing ball up though. My SPD is agony. I got stuck on the floor earlier 🙈

MrsK89 · 20/08/2020 20:59

@Treaclepie19 my mum was suggesting gaviscon but wasn't sure if it would work, but happy to try anything now.
Good you've had your bloods done, good luck with the results.
Deffo get DH to get the ball up, I've found it helps my spd and sciatica pains x

Treaclepie19 · 20/08/2020 21:03

@MrsK89 Yeah gaviscon really helps me. If that isn't enough though the gp can prescribe other things for you :)

Gosh I am sore tonight. Feels like someone's grabbing my kidney and squeezing. I'm constantly moaning right now, sorry 😳
I am happy to be pregnant honest. Just on edge with never knowing what needs checking out and what doesn't. My body isn't liking being pregnant again I don't think.

BettyBotter1 · 20/08/2020 21:11

@MrsK89 I've started really suffering with that on and off this week. Have bought some gaviscon to see if that helps. The pharmacy weren't going to sell it to me without a doctor's note. Went round the corner and bought it elsewhere!

Welcome to new posters!

Thanks for new thread and also the idea to look at the august babies thread, been looking at that to hear about babies' arrivals :)

My car seat arrived today, very exciting. I managed to install it in the car all by myself! 💪

Very impressed by those of you who are working out, going for a 20 minute walk feels like overkill to me now.

ChickenDipper28 · 20/08/2020 21:42

@MrsD1990 Thank you! 😊

@Treacle81 That's exactly what I was thinking! But hopefully she holds up in there until then 🤞🏼

@MrsK89 I used Rennie and found it didn't work. Milk kind of helps but not for long. I bought double action Gaviscon and oh my goodness! Works a treat 😬

@Treaclepie19 Ooh did you just ask for a blood test? My midwife did ask if I've had any itching and I said yes! She said call back if it carries on for a blood test

roarfeckingroarr · 20/08/2020 21:46

@ChickenDipper28 thank you 😊. I've packed my bag, washed all the baby clothes, written my birth plan... now it's just waiting.

Buzz22 · 20/08/2020 21:50

@MrsK89 I'm taking omeprazole 20mg once a day prescribed by GP. Top up throughout the day/night with liquid gaviscon.
Before the omeprazole I couldn't eat anything or lean forward or even have the gaviscon. I would just vomit pure stomach acid. It was horrendous. If it's really awful do speak to your GP and dont keep suffering.
I recommend liquid gaviscon over the tablets or rennies, it works much faster and is longer lasting. You can also get huge bottles of heartburn relief liquid in Tesco or boots. Own brand ones.

ChickenDipper28 · 20/08/2020 21:51

@roarfeckingroarr You're so organised! I'm yet to do the packing and wash the baby clothes! Definitely soon 😊
Relax and take it easy now until baby arrives, well deserved! 👶🏼

MrsK89 · 20/08/2020 22:01

Thanks guys, I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow so I'll see if she can prescribe me something for it

Treaclepie19 · 20/08/2020 22:15

@ChickenDipper28 they should offer you one within 24 hours. I rang the midwives hub and they put me in touch with fetal assessment who booked me an appointment for the same afternoon. I'd definitely phone and ask!

Suffering bad braxton hicks again tonight. Every 10 mins or less and very uncomfortable.
Pointless ringing for advice because the consultant told me with how my spd is it will just be like this.

Quiffy · 21/08/2020 08:17

@ChickenDipper28 That's so exciting that you have a date booked!

@StrawberrySprinkles I love seeing all the baby clothes outside. Although I think my upstairs neighbours will likely be livid now they've seen them...

@roarfeckingroarr nice to see you! How have you been getting on?

@BntTowers yay on curtains, sounds like it's coming together

SkyBlue20 · 21/08/2020 08:23

Morning all!

Ahh yes, the pregnant after MMC thread - it’s been an absolute lifeline! Most of us met on a MMC thread then moved on to TTC after MMC and now that one. Nice to be in with a group of ladies who are (sadly) in the same boat and understand the extreme anxieties it brings. Haven’t been able to bring myself to join a March thread yet, they all seem a bit too excitable and sadly I’m just not there. Maybe once I get past the first trimester I will be 🤞🏼

Sounds like a really mixed bag in terms of partners being allowed in and visiting afterwards etc, crazy how it can change so much from trust to trust. I kind of get my hospital being strict as I’m in Greater Manchester and obviously we’re in local lockdown but you’d think there would be some cohesion across other places 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi to the new faces, I’m not actually due in October, as you may have gathered, but once upon a time I was and now I’m just stalking this thread to see how everyone is as spent a lot of time chatting to these ladies and am looking forward to their little ones arriving! ☺️ Crazy to think how many birth announcements there will be and likely in quick succession, that’s going to be such a lovely few weeks with nice news all of the time!

@Spark27 Glad all was well at the scan!

Loving all of these October 7th due dates, that’s my dad’s b’day 🥰

Glad you’re all doing well xx

otterbaby · 21/08/2020 12:08

@SkyBlue20 I think that's normal, I couldn't quite bring myself to acknowledge anything baby-related until after the 12 week scan when I got the results from the blood test. And even then, didn't start buying anything until after the 20 week scan! I think it's just our way of trying to protect ourselves. But I can confirm that the remainder of pregnancy DRAGS so you'll have plenty of time to be excited after your scan 🙂

I'm sorry to hear about all the heartburn going around. I haven't had any yet but there's still plenty of time for that 🙄

@Quiffy how annoying about work! Clearly baby clothes ironing comes first!

We're off for a weekend away tomorrow in a little seaside airbnb. The weather is going to be absolutely shocking, which is typical. Glad we sprung for an airbnb instead of a hotel room so even if we're stuck inside all day, there's room to lounge about. I'm looking forward to the fish and chips more than anything!

otterbaby · 21/08/2020 12:09

Also, I've been reading this thread and thought it might be interesting to others!

Treacle81 · 21/08/2020 14:03

Great idea about the Aug chat, gonna look it up and that one you just linked @otterbaby. @MrsK89 I usually take Peptac for my heartburn but it's recently stopped working and I was kept up they the night with heartburn then got a big attack earlier which was crippling! Gonna call midwife ask for omeprazole. I don't know if body just used to the Peptac or the heartburn has just got worse xx

MrsD1990 · 21/08/2020 14:21

@SkyBlue20 totally understandable that you want to wait a bit longer before joining a March thread. I was a nervous wreck through the first trimester!!

I'm another person who has had itchy hands and feet. Didn't realise it could be a sign of something serious until someone mentioned it on this thread. I called the triage line a couple days ago and the midwife I spoke to couldn't have been less interested - told me to keep and eye on it and to call my GP if it gets worse (felt fobbed off).

So I kept an eye on it and it didn't get worse but it didn't get better either and I was still super worried so I called the triage line again this morning and this time spoke to a different midwife who actually took me seriously and took my details, looked at my file and asked me to go in to the fetal assessment unit for blood tests. So I went in this morning and saw the nicest midwife. She said I should get results today or tomorrow. Really glad I phoned up again and got someone else's opinion, it's really been playing on my mind these last few days!! So glad to finally be tested. The midwife also reassured me that it's ok if the test comes back positive - I'll just be prescribed some things to manage the symptoms.

NWnature · 21/08/2020 14:54

Another week over guys! I’m 33 weeks tomorrow Shock

Baby seems to be really high up under my boobs, pretty uncomfortable tbh.

Weekend away will be lovely @otterbaby enjoy the fish and chips. Also the weather is so changeable you never know you might get some sunshine !

I’ve had bad behaviour from the cat - we had the basinette on the pram and I found her kipping in there!! Have removed now and hidden in wardrobe. She is also so used to sleeping with us, she is going to be so out of sorts when the baby comes and I have to shut her out of the room at night. She’s a Siamese and shouts so loudly when cross 😂 I’m hoping her high maintenance will have prepared me a bit for motherhood hahahah

Treaclepie19 · 21/08/2020 15:04

Im glad they've tested you @MrsD1990. It's so bad she didn't take you seriously.
My results must have come back OK because I didn't get a call. She told me if its negative then call back in 7 days if still itchy because it can take a while to show in your blood.

@NWnature poor kitty haha. She had found a comfy bed!

otterbaby · 21/08/2020 15:12

@NWnature I caught ours in the moses basket today, trying to make muffins on the mattress!! Good thing I just clipped his nails a few days ago! Chucked him out but then felt guilty so had to give him a cuddle 😂

MrsD1990 · 21/08/2020 16:22

@Treaclepie19 glad your tests are ok!! I keep getting generic messages from the hospital about Covid etc and every time my phone goes I'm like... Please be my results!!

@otterbaby @NWnature our cat has been snoozing in the Moses basket too!! I've been getting her out of it when I see her but she must be going in it in the night! (It's currently in the living room, can't move into the bedroom yet because we're still decorating!)

MummyBearBoo · 21/08/2020 17:59

Baby is really low now so having to get up 4 times a night to go to loo but struggling to move coz if SPD my left leg!! And she stuck her feet out the gap between my stomach muscles high up which is really uncomfortable!

I guess the advantage of having an anterior placenta like in my last pregnancies is it cushions this -this time it being posterior and having a really wriggly baby who moves all day and most of the night means I'm not getting much sleep!!

Bump us still measuring 2 weeks bigger than my almost 33 weeks and I'm struggling to walk properly with the extra weight and SPD!!

Hope everyone us doing ok despite us all being at the hard later stage of pregnancy! Xx

Treaclepie19 · 21/08/2020 18:01

@MummyBearBoo I'm exactly the same. Needing a wee all night, spd means I can barely walk. Anterior placents but had such pain in my bump this morning. Bump measured 4cm bigger at 32 weeks 😱 I'm seeing the midwife next week.

Just sat watching one born every minute and hoping dh can get ds to sleep early so i can get a takeaway tonight 😁

Spark27 · 21/08/2020 18:30

Just realised my boobs have started leaking. Glamorous. Only a tiny bit though. Currently relaxing in a warm bath, getting a little bit of time away from DD and trying to ease my aching back.

We had an early friday pizza picnic dinner with DD (she loves it) so I'll probably be snacking all evening. Feeling shattered though so can see me falling asleep on the sofa early.

If anyone is looking for any good night wear recommendations I ordered a set from boohoo which turned up today, and I LOVE it. It's a black knee length nightie (crossover cut at the front so will be good for feeding, but not fiddly buttons) and a black cover up robe. Really thin and lightweight. So comfortable. I got it for the hospital so I would have a light, easy cover up, but I think I'll live it in before. Was on offer at £22 too. It's my new, favourite, most comfortable thing 😁

NWnature · 21/08/2020 19:43

Haha the cats seem to love the Moses ! My MIL keeps nagging me to get a net but I’m sure once there is a loud wriggly baby I doubt it will be such an appealing snooze spot.

@MummyBearBoo
its funny you say that about the anterior placenta- as it’s my first it’s been nerve wracking with not feeling much movement but I can definitely imagine non stop wriggling would be uncomfortable.

My friends have invited us for a weekend in Cornwall when I would be 37 weeks- I know I’m pretty likely to go overdue but do you think this is a bad idea given it’s miles from us (London). I would love to see them and don’t want to seem like a fun sponge but I just have no idea if it’s sensible or not and how ginormous and uncomfortable I’ll be by then.
