I'm home now. They said baby seems fine and to keep an eye on movements and any more worries to go back. My scan has been moved to 39 weeks rather than 40 due to her size, incase I need inducing. Funny what different trusts do isn't it! I'm happy with her movements now though and feel reassured, although more eager for her to be here and I can see her

bluemoon2468 · 13/09/2020 23:12

Hi ladies! Went in with reduced movements this evening. Baby is fine but the monitor was picking up regular contractions every 3-5 minutes the whole time. I could feel tightenings each time as well and mild pain. Doctor said she reckons I'm in early labour and confirmed that baby is fully engaged! Offered me an induction but I declined as baby is fine, but have been asked to go back in for further monitoring tomorrow. 37+1 so all a bit earlier than expected, and feeling a bit shocked as they seemed to reckon that things are starting up 😬 Meant to be working tomorrow!

Spark27 · 14/09/2020 00:22

Wow, @bluemoon2468. That's all a bit exciting and scary. Great that your body is starting things off naturally and that you're full term. Good that they're keeping an eye on you. Hopefully they'll have more answers and a way forward for you tomorrow. From what I've read the early parts of labour can last up to a good few days. Seems baby wants you to stop working though 😀.

Thats interesting @blankiesandunicorns. Guessing you haven't changed area or mw recently so it's odd your mw wasnt aware of the standard process where you are. But at least you'll get to see baby sooner and they'll work out a plan.

I've managed about a hours sleep and now I'm awake again. So uncomfortable, and hot, and DD is snoring 🙄. Been getting quite a lot of uncomfortable BH and movements this evening too. Feeling very pregnant and uncomfortable x

BntTowers · 14/09/2020 05:53

@bluemoon2468 that's exciting, good they are keeping an eye on you. I think you would be ok to say to work you are in early labour also you could have the day off! I hope everything goes smoothly and you are able to get some rest tonight.

CharlieBalf · 14/09/2020 05:56

@BntTowers any snacks which exist in my house don't last long but I'm trying to add a few extras to the shop so I have something for my bag,😂 I have porridge bars so far but would like some dried fruit and now you've mentioned pom bears I want those too!

@blankiesandunicorns I'm sorry you had to go in but glad everything is OK... Can you call your MW to liaze about an induction? Have you had your birthplan appointment yet?
I have mine today, not sure what to expect really. Think I soukd talk to her about my increasing anxiety that something might go wrong. Having trouble sleeping at the moment 😐. Might get up and have a tea!

blankiesandunicorns · 14/09/2020 07:38

@Spark27 it wasn't really my midwife who arranged the 40 week scan, it was the midwives on the day assessment unit when I had my last one.
@CharlieBalf I did my birth plan last week but wasn't with my regular midwife as she was on annual leave.
I feel like I am against induction but after the anxiety last night brought me they wouldn't have to push as much now for me to agree to induction.

@bluemoon2468 that's so exciting keep us updated on how you're doing!

I haven't slept in nights either, may have to give in and sleep today which I don't like doing!

BettyBotter1 · 14/09/2020 08:05

@bluemoon2468 wow that's exciting, I hope you were able to get some sleep. I'd say that's a decent excuse to not work today! Let us know how you go if you can.
@blankiesandunicorns I'm glad all is ok and they realised and brought your scan forward. Maybe labour will start naturally like blue moon so you won't have to decide about induction.
@CharlieBalf let us know what happens at your birth plan appointment. Be prepared to be assertive. Mine wasn't what I expected, she just looped everything on my notes together and wrote 'discussed' without noting any preferences I had so I don't know how that will tell MWs in hospital anything. I'll be putting my own plan into my notes and hope on the day someone will read it.
Off to the dentist this morning, wish me luck! On the plus side I have to park in waitrose so can pick up a few treats.

CharlieBalf · 14/09/2020 08:27

@BettyBotter1 I'd say a dentist trip is made a while lot better by proximity to Waitrose 😂

Thanks for the advice re birth plan, I feel as if I still know next to nothing so will be asking a million questions.

Quiffy · 14/09/2020 08:45

@otterbaby @Treacle81 it was so nice not having to deal with oven cleaning or anything really. I just sorted clothes and my bag while he scrubbed away like Cinderella 😹

@BettyBotter1 sorry about your DIY. That will be frustrating but like you say, baby won't care or remember ❤️

@MrsD1990 sounds super productive 😻

@blankiesandunicorns glad everything is okay and you have a new scan date

@BntTowers happy last day at work!!!!!

@bluemoon2468 ahhh that's so exciting, good luck with monitoring today

@Spark27 sounds like a rough night, hope you can get a rest today

I kept dreaming that I was in pain last night and it woke me up a few times. I'm not sure if I was in pain or it was in my head. I have quite niggly back/period like pains this morning but I think I overdid it yesterday getting things ready. Easier day today!

Indigogirl88 · 14/09/2020 08:54

I've been tired as well, one week left at work cant come soon enough!

I felt like I was going to be early but now im thinking ill be late, she was really low down past couple of weeks but this weekend has gone back high again.

As for p massage, is haven't done any oops, or hypnobirthing, or sterilising yet. I keep putting it off! Yikes best hope she doesn't come next week to give me a week to myself to sort last few bits out!

Spark27 · 14/09/2020 09:03

Theres a Hotel Chocolat factory outlet really close to me and they opened a shop attached to it a few weeks ago. Obvs it has been manically busy so I'd just left it. My mum just called to see if me and DD want to go with her in a bit for chocolate shopping (usually get reduced bits in it) and a hot choc in their cafe. Oh yes, this is definitely something I want to do! Only downside is I have to get dressed 😅

Treacle81 · 14/09/2020 09:26

@blankiesandunicorns that must have been pretty worrying for you, hope you get it resolved. @bluemoon2468 oh sounds promising!! I'll be leaving a few bits n bobs in boot of car just in case I don't have the plain sailing birth I pray for. @Indigogirl88 one week left for me too! Woken up with that sore, swollen right hand again, seem to be my first knuckle so that rules out any cleaning I had planned later. Saying that, done alot yesterday. Been up since 4am and still not hungry, that's a first for me however have had dodgy tummy and the runs since last night. @Spark27 oh i'd day that's well worth shoving clothes on for, enoy!! 37 weeks today, defo notice difference from last week bump pic, put on 3 pounds, mixed emotions 💃😱🤔😂xx

CharlieBalf · 14/09/2020 13:43

Just got back from my birthplan meeting--have to say the MW was very helpful, listened to all my concerns and went through everything I didn't understand. Baby is fully engaged, nowhere else to go but out now! Been having terrible tightness ever since I got home but I think that's cause of all the prodding she did to feel where the baby was.

Anyone else experiencing uh loose bowls? Seems like every time I eat its coming straight out again. Not really complaining, it's better than the opposite 😂

Treaclepie19 · 14/09/2020 13:53

Thats great @CharlieBalf. A supportive midwife is such a brilliant thing to have.
Bowels are off here too. Going very regularly and often looser than normal.

I'm having a bit of a moment because I just went for my flu jab and walking to the car noticed it was bleeding. Have shoved a plaster on it and trying to ignore it but it's set my OCD about contamination off.
Bloody anxiety.

@Spark27 that sounds like my ideal trip out 😍😍

OP posts:
CharlieBalf · 14/09/2020 13:58

*bowels 🤣

Spark27 · 14/09/2020 15:13

@CharlieBalf I'm the opposite of the bowels front. It's annoying, but trying to just leave it as I dont want to try to much and cause any issues down there.

The outlet store was great. 10 of the normal 6 piece chocolate trays for £10. Yes please! 2 for DD, 3 for DH and 5 for me and the baby 🐷

blankiesandunicorns · 14/09/2020 15:14

@CharlieBalf yes loose bowels here too but with my IBS that's nothing new for me! Agreed though much rather that than the other extreme.

Sorry to hear you're feeling anxious @Treaclepie19

Baby been moving loads today, think she knows I need reassurance. I downloaded the baby kicks app too so been using that incase it happens again. I just want baby here now or a sign that she's coming would be good

justanothermamma · 14/09/2020 16:10

@CharlieBalf I envy you, I'm the other way, it's awful!!

@Spark27 I'm on something called dioctyl for it, I was given sachets with my iron tablets but they did naff all, but these dioctyl tablets have helped a lot. It's still really bad but it would be much worse without! Especially as I'm on iron and codeine.

@blankiesandunicorns What app did you get? I feel like I should start tracking movements now to be sure all is okay.

Got my whooping cough vaccine booked for Thursday, thank goodness. GP said that the midwives normally refer on your behalf so they were a little shocked it had been missed for me (especially being high risk!). Better late than never! X

blankiesandunicorns · 14/09/2020 16:18

@justanothermamma it's the kicks count app and pretty easy to use.

CharlieBalf · 14/09/2020 16:35

@spark27 and @justanothermamma sorry to hear that... I'm not sure what I prefer Tbh, hope things get a little better for you.
@blankiesandunicorns it must be tough with IBS, you may be used to it it but still a rough ride.

One of the myriad of thinhs I wasn't expecting to be an issue at 37 weeks pregnant. I'm honestly so big I can't pick anything off the floor, reach in front of me if I'm sitting or move about for more than 10 mins. It's so much more body encompassing that just a big tummy.

Very envious of the chocolates, I could do with some pick me ups!

Indigogirl88 · 14/09/2020 16:41

@treacle81 that's me too with the sore fingers! I've also put on more weight and 37 weeks tomorrow, hopefully bub is growing nicely. Feels weird to have a whole another week till seeing the midwife again, bub could come in that time!

Indigogirl88 · 14/09/2020 16:43

Forgot to add on my rant... my parents are desperate to see me before baby comes so ive agreed for them to come visit (4 hour drive) but dp says we've no room etc so we'll go there, but obviously I don't feel comfortable doing a 4 hour journey this late on. And basically all I want to do is enjoy 2 weeks leave before hopefully bubba comes, she might even come early!

BntTowers · 14/09/2020 17:12

@Indigogirl88 I would not be doing a 4 hour drive at this point! We did 1 hour at the weekend which was a bit much tbh!

I've had lots of rib kicks today, I think baby was excited to be finishing work too.

StrawberrySprinkles · 14/09/2020 17:13

@Indigogirl88 I really don’t think I could stand a 4 hour car journey and I’m at 36 weeks! We visited my parents on Saturday who live just about an hour away and that really was my limit!

Those suffering with frequent bowel movements I have heard it can be a sign of labour so can only be a good thing?!

Has anyone been suffering from nausea? I had it on and off in the first trimester but over the last three days or so I feel like it’s returned - especially an hour or so after I eat 😖

MrsK89 · 14/09/2020 17:17

@StrawberrySprinkles yes me! Midwife said if you had morning sickness in first trimester you are more likely to have it again near the end x
