@BettyBotter1 the funny thing is if she comes at the same gestation DS1 did then it will be DHS birthday. He and his brother already share a birthday 5 years apart.
I'm a bit impatient to have her here safely I must say.

Do you have an app or notes? It should say how engaged you are in there.

@CharlieBalf my eyes were okay but I ended up with a spot under my nose by the time I took it off last night. I'd forgotten the joys of clogged skin 😅

@blankiesandunicorns Marnie and Maeve are both super cute!

@Treacle81 it took him less than an hour and it seemed simple enough (no swearing anyway 😹). I need to have a proper try today but he says the top is really light to take off and move around the house.

@Treaclepie19 online baby shower sounds wonderful ❤️

@justanothermamma @HerondaleDucks lovely surprises!

@indigogirl88 sorry about your carpel tunnel :(

Baby shower was lovely yesterday! Feeling even more real now. Got dh doing the crappy pre baby tasks like oven cleaning today mwhaha. Hopefully going to set up the prep and steriliser and make space in a cupboard for all the bottles etc.

BettyBotter1 · 13/09/2020 09:23

@Treaclepie19 thanks I went and looked at my notes and in the space for /5 engaged she's written the word 'brim' so I guess she couldn't tell?!

Buzz22 · 13/09/2020 10:33

My notes say 2/5 engaged after my 36 week appointment on Friday. Midwife commented how she thought I should be waddling round as babies head is so low. But I'm still surprisingly comfortable, however I'm also only carrying a small bump (albeit with an average sized baby in!)

She did tell me that being engaged has absolutely no bearing on when baby will arrive anyway! She said first babies like to bob their heads in and out of your pelvis for weeks. So I'm trying not to get too excited. Especially as baby has had head extremely low for a good month already now as seen at my previous growth scans.

Baby shower sounded great and you look lovely @HerondaleDucks

I love all the names mentioned. Ours is fairly old fashioned too!

justanothermamma · 13/09/2020 12:23

@BettyBotter1 Oooh what is it? Love a marmite name me!

I got a Cosy Toes blanket off my girls for the car seat, I tried it last night and everything suddenly felt so real! So ready for this baby now. 17 days until induction 😬.

justanothermamma · 13/09/2020 12:29

Do you get a whooping cough vaccine with a second pregnancy? It's just dawned on me that I haven't had it this time..

Buzz22 · 13/09/2020 13:05

@justanothermamma you should get a whooping cough vaccine every pregnancy.
Mine was done at the same time as my 20 week scan but I think you can book in with your GP to get it done.

justanothermamma · 13/09/2020 13:52

@Buzz22 Will 47 weeks be too late?

justanothermamma · 13/09/2020 14:02

@Buzz22 37** God I'm tired

Spark27 · 13/09/2020 14:08

NHS says to ideally have the whooping cough vaccine between 16 -32 weeks, but you can have it right up until you give birth. I'd give the drs a call tomorrow and try and get one sorted asap x

BettyBotter1 · 13/09/2020 14:57

@justanothermamma I'd kind of love to say but we haven't told anyone and I'm scared to get opinions in case ppl don't like it. We're pretty set on it! We have picked a super conventional middle name she can use if she hates it and there are options for nicknames.

Ladies I was just reading my american pregnancy app and realised why we're all struggling with the p massage. App's advice is not to diy it, but to get hold of a pelvic floor therapist to do it for you. They'll even support you with it during labour. I'm sure there will be a long list of therapists in my yellow pages 🤣

justanothermamma · 13/09/2020 15:00

@Spark27 Thank you, I will!

@BettyBotter1 I'm sure it's beautiful 🤍 xxx

Treacle81 · 13/09/2020 15:54

Hi girls! I've done alot of sorting today, got the baby changing corner all set, moved my whole room around and just had lots of mucus plug come away. Defo seems to happen when I do alot. Back a bit achy now so taking a rest. Ordered a matching robe and nightdress for last min hospital bag stuff, came today, size 12 and it's tiny. Raging as I've ordered a few size 12 maternity things and they've been big and baggy from there. Just means need to send back so can't finish hospital bag 😩 happy with what I've achieved today tho xx

otterbaby · 13/09/2020 16:40

@Indigogirl88 I asked my midwife about the test and she's just sneakily given me one, maybe you can ask yours too!

@Quiffy good, give him the crappy jobs and you take the fun ones! I hate cleaning the oven, so gross.

@BettyBotter1 not sure I fancy anyone, even a professional doing that 😂 I'm sure I read either on here or one of the FB pages that some trusts also offer foot massages/aromatherapy once you hit 40 weeks to try to induce labour. Yet mine won't even allow visiting hours! 🙄

@Treacle81 I hate that, it's happened to me a few times as well. I have no clue what size of anything to order at the minute, wish shopping in person was easier right now! That's a good idea though, I'll pop my robe in my bag too!

justanothermamma · 13/09/2020 17:05

@Treacle81 I find supermarket stuff is a bit bigger for sizes (for me and my DD), M&S are okay ish, I have had to go a size up in a few things! H&M seem true to size for maternity stuff! I got my nighties from Primark in XXL as I like my nighties baggy a anyway, but they are good value and super soft. X

Treacle81 · 13/09/2020 17:38

@Quiffy I can no longer clean bath or 9ven as just too much so I'll get other half yo do mine next wknd lol he's done tons today. Just manged to cut and paint my own toenails which is a great achievement I think lol. Booked in for mani and pedi but she couldn't fit me in till 3rd, due 5th but sweep on the 1st so might not make it lol. I'll need to call and say that she forgot about my Strep B and hope she fits me in! Is it both passages? Or just swab the front xx

otterbaby · 13/09/2020 17:51

@Treacle81 I only had to swab my front and get a bit of discharge on it, she just sent me to the toilets to do it and bring it back.

I also had to do a swab for MRSA in case I'm induced (she said they could either do it now or when I'm in the hospital) when meant using the same long swab to do each nostril and then rub it on my knicker line in my thigh crease. Minging!

BettyBotter1 · 13/09/2020 18:25

@otterbaby wow I'll be telling DH about the foot massage at 40 weeks if baby keeps us waiting. That was nice of your MW to give you the strep b test. When I asked mine if it was something I should have she was just "the nhs don't do that" and made me feel bad for asking. I'm going to investigate getting my own now just in case. And flu jab too, which she also put me down on.

@Treacle81 👏👏👏 for painting your own toenails and I hope you make it for the mani pedi, sounds exactly what we all deserve :)

We had no luck at all with the diy this weekend, a job running some internet cables that was supposed to take half an hour took all DH's time this morning and in the end didn't work as the cables appear to have broken. Very frustrating as it means he didn't get onto the more important job of cutting the wood for our toilet cabinet so I am still without a loo upstairs for foreseeable future. Just keep telling myself baby won't know or care which room of the house we're sleeping in or what it looks like as long as she's well looked after.

A lot more pressure today down below, feels like a sharp pain when I'm on my feet and baby's movements feel so bony now. Couldn't sleep again last night and had funny tummy and hot flushes. Really wish I could know when things will start happening!

MrsD1990 · 13/09/2020 20:15

@BettyBotter1 I'm having to tell myself the same about the DIY - we have loads to do and it definitely won't all be done before baby's here - there's every chance we won't be sleeping in the rooms were thought we would be too. But baby won't know!

Had quite a productive weekend. I completely overdid it yesterday though (made a load of freezer meals and washing baby clothes). I was a wreck by the end of the day, husband wasn't happy I did so much (he was in another room doing DIY) so I tried to take it easier today and just did some more washing and sorting.

Going to buy our COOK freezer meals tonight I think just want husband to have a look at the ones I've chosen before I order. Just want to be sorted for the first few weeks meal-wise!

justanothermamma · 13/09/2020 21:19

@MrsD1990 Can you choose what you like for the COOK new parent package? We're currently working our way through the freezer to make room! X

blankiesandunicorns · 13/09/2020 22:10

Gone into hospital for reduction in movements, been monitored and baby seems fine and started kicking around loads! As they do! But they're now saying I should really have been booked in for induction because she's big, and don't understand why I'm booked in for another scan on my due date because she may need to come over before then. Really confused!

Treaclepie19 · 13/09/2020 22:37

I'm glad all is okay @blankiesandunicorns. That's strange! So what are they planning?
Everyone reckons my baby is big from scans and bump measurements but my trust don't do anything different for big babies.

OP posts:
MrsD1990 · 13/09/2020 22:37

@blankiesandunicorns glad baby was moving around lots!! Sorry they've left you confused though, they should talk it through with you some more so you can make an informed decision!

@justanothermamma I decided not to do the new parent package and just ordered 9 of the main meals for two so we could choose what we wanted. Strangely the cost per meal worked out slightly cheaper than the new parent bundle - I mustn't have expensive taste!

BntTowers · 13/09/2020 22:41

@blankiesandunicorns that's confusing! I hope they figure out what they are doing soon.

I have been so tired all day, barely been able to keep my eyes open then as soon as 10pm hits I have loads of energy, this has happened for the past 4/5 nights.
So I've just looked at my hospital bag again as I don't think I had put enough maternity pads in and I've found another little fabric bag so I can separate baby's clothes into two lots dependant on sizes. Is anyone else having a bag of "extras" in the car? I've put a couple of baby clothes in, muslins, there will be more clothes for me, extra nappies etc so then DH doesn't have to rummage to.find stuff in case we run out. The snack bag has started today, I've got some packets of pombears, a bar of cadburys daim chocolate and so.of the posh gf cookies I like (mostly for post birth for the sugar levels)

I'm super excited it's my last day of work tomorrow, it feels like it's taken forever to come around!

justanothermamma · 13/09/2020 22:47

@blankiesandunicorns How are you feeling? It's mad what different midwives/consultants will tell you. Leaves you feeling so confused! I hope you get some proper answers and soon!!

@MrsD1990 That sounds sensible! I'm going to have to sit down with DH and order what we want.

@BntTowers My friend suggested packing another bag at and leaving it at home with some extras for baby and me should we have to stay in longer. Then it's just a case of telling someone where the bag is rather than risking them packing the totally wrong things! So sounds like a good plan. I need to sort snacks out for my bag then I'm done I think!
