@HerondaleDucks glad everything is right with baby, sounds like you're doing a great job managing your GD. Sorry to hear about your DSD, once a house has fleas it's so hard to get rid of them, she must have been so uncomfortable there. She is lucky to have you caring for her.

@otterbaby great news about your parents, will be so special for you. Glad you enjoyed your baby shower and outing too. Enjoy your pampering!

@Quiffy sorry to hear about the potential lockdown, hope your parents are able to come and help you out with all the final tasks.

@Treaclepie19 hope everything went well for your son today and he enjoys it once hes settled in.

My husband brought me breakfast and juice in bed this morning, I had slept in after a really uncomfortable night. He obviously picked up on my vibes yesterday suggesting he needed to do more to help me!! I really could go back to sleep now for a whole day.

BntTowers · 02/09/2020 13:49

@HerondaleDucks that's great news on the scan and that they are keeping you diet controlled. Hopefully you can get to full term with it.

I was a bit concerned that baby hadn't moved much today, just sat after lunch and my walk to take a bit of time out away from work and baby has been wiggly all over the place. Clearly just been too caught up to pay enough attention. The cat tried to sit on my lap, but promptly got kicked off with a few jabs from baby, cat isn't too happy about it.

@LexiM he just needs to carry on now. Go back and have a nap if that's what you need. Rest is important.

mamamemmmer · 02/09/2020 15:31

Has anyone got a Sleepyhead or SnoozePod thing? With DD we just put her in the Next2Me but I'm curious about these pod things! Any advice? X

bluemoon2468 · 02/09/2020 15:40

@mamamemmmer I'm not getting one because of the safe sleep guidelines (they aren't recommended). Each to their own though! I'm just really paranoid about it and want to follow the guidance to the letter!

bluemoon2468 · 02/09/2020 15:42

@otterbaby my bump has dropped for sure! And I'm getting so much pain low down in my cervix! Both period like cramps and sharp stabbing pains 😬

mamamemmmer · 02/09/2020 15:43

@bluemoon2468 oooh are they not? I'll swerve that then. What about sleeping bags? We never used one until DD was about 3 months last time because the midwives said no for newborns, but DD kicked the cover off constantly up until then! X

bluemoon2468 · 02/09/2020 15:56

@mamamemmmer it's surprising seeing as how popular they are! But they go against the guidance for a firm, flat mattress with no sides.

Sleeping bags are recommended from birth as long as baby is the right weight for the bag. If your baby is really little you might need to use blankets for a few weeks, but the one we've bought is suitable from 7lbs.

mamamemmmer · 02/09/2020 16:04

@bluemoon2468 Where is yours from lovely? I've been looking at the Tommee Tippee/Gro Bag ones where you can get a pack of 2 for £39 (🥴)

I might see if TK Maxx have any! X

otterbaby · 02/09/2020 16:11

@bluemoon2468 same 😱 exciting but scary!!

@mamamemmmer I've seen loads of baby sleeping bags at TK Maxx! We got some from Little Green Sheep.

CharlieBalf · 02/09/2020 16:12

@BntTowers I had rfm today and went in for monitoring. Last night was the clincher as baby usually pumles me from about 2am but nothing happened last night. All was well and the only had me on the machine for 10 mjns. Glad I went anyway though, peace of mind.

@mamamemmmer I have a moov cosy dream which helps reduce flat head and plan to use that in the beside me cot.,

Spark27 · 02/09/2020 16:48

@mamamemmmer we swaddled our DD for the first few months and she loved that. We used large muslins and cellular blankets. You can get specific swaddle/sleeping bags though. As said, sleeping bags are fine if the weight/size is ok. xx

LexiM · 02/09/2020 17:23

@mamamemmmer we have also avoided the sleepyhead type pods as they arent advised for safe sleeping, rather than umming and aching about it I just decided to not look at them too much! I think lots of people can be tempted by a baby that sleeps well in one of them, so I just haven't paid much attention to them to be persuaded when they arent known to be safe.

We have gone for sleeping bags. Weve got one tommee tippee and one love to swaddle one where they can put their arms up. They say on them from what weight they can be used, I expect our baby to be over the minimum weight from birth but you never know. I've also got large muslins and blankets to try swaddling that way.

@CharlieBalf glad all is ok with baby, definitely worth checking.

BntTowers · 02/09/2020 17:59

@CharlieBalf glad you got seen, I was on the verge of calling just needed the cat to wake the baby up as baby has not stopped all afternoon now ☺️

@mamamemmmer I've only got one sleeping bag so far, going to see how I get on with that or if blankets are better.

StrawberrySprinkles · 02/09/2020 18:05

I was just wondering what everyone is planning on wearing postpartum? As a first time mum I have no idea what to expect and I’m also hoping to breastfeed so was thinking baggy tops/wraps/button down things and leggings?

I haven’t bought many maternity tops that are nursing too so not sure what’s best?!

Should I buy normal clothes and size up a size? Feeling a bit lost haha 🤔

CharlieBalf · 02/09/2020 18:05

Thanks all, its hard to know if andbwhen I sthe right time to in... My nearest hospital is a good 40 mins away so major effort is required to get there but it made the little one have a jump about and put my mind at rest.

On that note... One of my fears is getting turned away for doing in too early and then getting into trouble. I know I'd just go back home, panic about getting back in and get stressed.
I told my midwife that I was worried and she said helpfully, just don't come in too early 😂 This is my first so I have nothing to relate the stages to.

mamamemmmer · 02/09/2020 18:17

@CharlieBalf You'll know when you need to go, we're about the same distance away from our hospital and I knew when I got to a point where I knew I wouldn't last the next hour of contractions without intervention, so we set off for hospital! X

mamamemmmer · 02/09/2020 18:19

Fully not going to bother with a sleepyhead, DD was fine without one last time, but so many people I know use/have used them and it was something I totally missed last time! I'll look into the sleeping bags this time for definite though, those swaddle ones from Grobag look quite good just not sure on what tog to go for?!

So many things to consider! X

bluemoon2468 · 02/09/2020 18:44

@mamamemmer I've got two Grobag ones (one from TKMaxx and one from Amazon) for 0-6 months. A slightly thinner one for autumn (I think 2.5 tog?) and then a 3.5 tog for the really cold part of winter. Will worry about the thinner ones when we get to 6+ months and the summer.

bluemoon2468 · 02/09/2020 18:48

@mamamemmmer here's a really useful guide to room temperature, Grobag togs and clothing!

Treacle81 · 02/09/2020 19:12

Hi girls, I have now got swollen feet, which is a lovely new symptom lol. @Treaclepie19 Happy birthday to Xander, how he enjoyed his first day too! @HerondaleDucks great to hear scan went well. I've been in tears hearing about the fleas and they continued with the heart on the wrist @MrsK89 so sweet ❤️ We seem to be getting bad with the heartburn now! @otterbaby that sounds great, dying for a pamper. Want to get mani pedi and try out eyelash tint and lift as never had anything like that. I defo think I've dropped and getting alot more crampy pain low down Regions close to me are back in lock down and my hospital has changed back to 1 birthing partner, hope it doesn't get worse! @StrawberrySprinkles I will just wear size up comfy tops and my maternity leggings for the foreseeable! @CharlieBalf glad baby ok. @LexiM breakfast in bed, fab! I am going to either swaddle or use sleeping bag depending on what baby likes, they differ so much xx

MrsK89 · 02/09/2020 19:15

@Treaclepie19 how did school go today? My little one was so happy to see his reception teacher, he's not been in since March so I was half dreading it.

I'm so so so tired.
Went for weekly bloods and ctg and as DH had the car to pick son up from school I decided to try and walk home from the hospital (which is 5 miles away BTW 😂)
Managed a mile, but it started pouring down and my ridiculous coat and boots soaked in all the rain 😑 so I took cover under a bus stop and waited for DH to come back.
Now I'm exhausted!

Midwife said after my scan next week, I should get a date for delivery from the consultant 😬

Hope everyone is feeling better today. My morning sickness is deffo back but it is "expected" if I had bad sickness in the first trimester 😒

BettyBotter1 · 02/09/2020 19:28

Like @bluemoon2468 I heard the sleepyhead things weren't recommended so didn't think on them again. I've bought a Grobag sleeping bag to try and will use blankets if she is too small for it when born. I asked the health visitor about sleeping bags and she said they are fine as long as the neck isn't too big so they cant accidentally wiggle down inside them. Thanks for the what to wear guide @bluemoon2468 that's really helpful.
@CharlieBalf I'm a bit worried about knowing when to go in too and being turned away. My friend has had 2 babies at the hospital I'm due to give birth at and both times they tried to turn her away because she was able to talk through the contractions and it seemed too soon. She just has a high pain threshold and is a very calm person. The first birth she listened to them, went home, came back less than an hour later and was at 10cm and the second birth she asked them to examine her because of the experience she had last time and was at 7 or 8cm so they let her stay! Hopefully if a woman asks asertively to be examined they will do so? PBC has me wary of fending off unnecessary examinations but my friend's experience was the opposite!

Treaclepie19 · 02/09/2020 21:27

Aww that's lovely @MrsK89! Glad it went well Smile
Not a good start for us because he got really upset being left. Thankfully he did have a good morning so fingers crossed. He's only doing mornings this week so full days will be a hurdle too.
It was horrific leaving him so upset. I cried all the way home 🙈🙈
He had a lovely afternoon opening birthday presents and eating pizza and cake though.

I just hope tomorrow he goes in happier!

Hey everyone just catching up and reading the updates . Recently just been feeling to tired to do anything and my mood is so bad . I just really want to drive baby safely now. Feels like we have been pregnant all year. The morning sickness is bad and the tiredness is just another level . All I keep saying to myself 13 working days till I am in annual leave and I will catch up on sleep.

@Treaclepie19 happy birthday to your little one , sending him back must have been so hard . My younger sister is a early years teacher and said the amount of children that were sad yesterday - she felt like crying .

@MrsK89 how on earth did you manage that 1 mile walk- I live on the top floor flat and I get tired from the stairs - you hear me huff and puff . The neighbours must hate me . ahh I’m glad you are getting your Delivery date ( good luck)

@CharlieBalf and @BettyBotter1 my hospital is so strict unless 4 or more you can’t come in they will turn you around . I live 35-40 mins away from my hospital so very concerned what I would do if I’m turned away. Might just sit in the car and cry with dh . Also how do we know we are on labour, my sil her waters didn’t break , she just felt pain and the kept her for observation and then suddenly she went into active labour .

@Treacle81 Swollen feet eek - haven’t had that one yet . I hope I don’t - have had morning sickness for nearly 30 weeks . I saw a refreshing foot spray on amazon that’s meant to help .

In terms of sleepyheads - I didn’t get one just got a 0-6 months gro bag and a 0-3 months gro bag from tkmaxx .

How long does everyone have for expected due date - my due date is 1st October so 27 days left !!

Zaalfruit · 03/09/2020 05:51

I’m so sorry for writing the longest message on earth . I just can’t sleep
