@mamamemmmer
I agree standing does feel fine until you sit or move. I always find this when I'm cooking
induction took a few hours and was intense. I did end up having episiotomy and forcep delivery in the end, but I don't think staying on my back helped at all. Only pain relief I had was gas and air.

I don't remember ever doing a birth plan in previous births but the midwives have said at 36 week appt they will go through it.

Are you consultant led at the moment x

mamamemmmer · 31/08/2020 15:02

@MrsK89 How many hours were you in labour? I loved the gas and air last time 😂.

I am consultant led as I have a rare medical condition. Are you? X

Spark27 · 31/08/2020 15:10

I was induced after my 3rd bout of RFM @mamamemmmer. I went in on the wednesday morning and had her at 1400 on the friday. It took a while, but I think that's cos my body wasnt ready at all. But it was fine being there, and everyone was lovely. I took all the drugs and had an epidural so I didnt really feel much and got some sleep. Had to have an episiotomy, but I'm not surprised by that, and put that I'd rather have that then tear.

I'd like to go into labour naturally this time, just to experience it. But if I needed to be induced again that's fine. I think this time round I'd enjoy the peace and quiet of having the lead up in hospital without DD there 🤣

Damn bank holiday means we need to wait til tomorrow to submit the offer. I am chomping at the bit!

MrsK89 · 31/08/2020 15:20

@mamamemmmer oh ermm I think around 6 hours altogether, only needed the drip, I didn't need the pessary.
Gas and air when I had my second was a completely different experience. It was like being in a different realm. I could feel the contractions coming on but felt like it was happening to someone else lol very strange drug, but I've not tried anything else. Most of my labour was in the bath and had baby on the ambulance trolley 🙈

Yep I'm consultant led as I have cholestasis and they've put me as high risk.

@Spark27 my stitches opened up after a day of being home, not a nice experience

HerondaleDucks · 31/08/2020 18:53

My dh has been fitting vinyl laminate in our hallway today. All the house decorations are coming together. My new carpet in the living room gets laid in 10 days.
I have a growth scan tomorrow and to see the diabetic clinic. I'm hoping they will give me some idea as to whether I'm going to be induced or not.
My last week of work this week!
Being plagued by a numb left leg, pain in my right hip and now cramp in my calves!
Been keeping up the yoga and gym to try and get him into the right position.
I've had enough of being pregnant now though, my count down is 34 days to the due date but I just want him to arrive already.

mamamemmmer · 31/08/2020 21:17

@Spark27 What's RFM? Sorry I'm totally baby brained out at the moment!

Peace and quiet would be beaut right now!

Bloody Bank Hol, keeping everything crossed for you!!

@MrsK89 6 hours isn't bad at all, my natural labour was 4 hours last time.

I had a bad tear last time because DD came out like Super Woman, my stitches fell out two days post and I had to have an operation to restitch them when DD was 3 months old. That was horrendous but I'd choose that over a section any day!

@HerondaleDucks All sounds like it's coming together nicely! I'm working from home still so I'm going to start mat leave from day baby is born, because I started 4 weeks earlier than baby was born last time under the midwives instruction and I missed out on precious time with baby! Is anyone elses mat pay horrendous? I get 6 weeks at 90% then straight to statutory, it's a nightmare!

HerondaleDucks · 31/08/2020 21:37

I get up to February on 90% then onto statutory until the end of June. I was quite happy with mine. I guess working for local authority has perks sometimes lol.

BntTowers · 31/08/2020 21:41

@mamamemmmer my mat leave is the same but currently hoping to not go back to that company so I have 2 weeks pre due date booked off plus nearly 2 weeks holiday to take too.
Sounds like you went through a lot with your first. I'm hoping to avoid a c section, but we will wait and see!

@Spark27 that's so annoying, not long now until you can offer though. At least you know that as you've not been able to offer no-one else has either.

@herondaleducks sounds like you've had a busy day. There's so much on my list to do with the house which just isn't going to get done in time but I think I've accepted that now.

HerondaleDucks · 31/08/2020 21:43

@BntTowers I've just worked my dh very hard! At 8 months I finally seemed to have earned the right to boss him about a bit.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. When baby is here things like will be less important.
How are you feeling now? Have you settled on the metformin a bit now?

BntTowers · 31/08/2020 21:57

@HerondaleDucks ok, I've not really seen a dip in fasting levels yet but she did say it can take 7-10 days to kick in and I'm on day 6... I'm feeling ok now I had a few side effects at first but thr feeling like I'm going to be sick is sticking around for a while but hopefully that will clear soon. I think they may increase my dose if the fasting levels don't go down, most days I've only been .3 over the fasting target. How are you managing with diet controlled?

HerondaleDucks · 31/08/2020 22:11

@BntTowers for the most part I have been in the right numbers. But I ate pasta bake and then some pineapple last Monday and I sky rocketed to 9.9 and was horrified. So I have been super careful about what I eat... going hungry some nights cause I worry about going high.
I had a high fasting one a few days ago which always worries me.
But yesterday my fasting was 4.4 all day and today I've been under 6 after meals. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if they now tell me I've lost weight lol.

.3 isn't so bad! I hope they give you time to adjust to the metformin before upping your dose. Hopefully then you'll feel less sick. The whole GD thing just adds more stress to it all doesn't it!

BntTowers · 31/08/2020 22:20

@HerondaleDucks it's so much extra stress, last night was terrible when DH dished out dinner and gave me far too much rice I had a right paddy about it as I couldn't tell how many carbs I would be eating, which I think in turn meant I didn't sleep well which meant my reading this morning was higher than it has been for a while, even though my post dinner readings were within range.
I've started a list of food/ meals I want when baby arrives. Going to have a little separate shopping list that DH can get when I'm in hospital so temptation isn't around until after.

mamamemmmer · 31/08/2020 22:50

@HerondaleDucks Oh wow! That's amazing!

@BntTowers I have 4 weeks holiday, might tag it on the end or just get paid for them, we shall see!

Spark27 · 01/09/2020 01:20

Sorry @mamamemmmer, its reduced fetal movements. I think because I'd had 3 episodes of it and baby was classed as full term they thought why not offer an induction. I was fine with that. I love a plan, so knowing when it would kick off was great.

My maternity pay is great, I'm really lucky. I get 6 months at full pay, I'm then taking the 3 months of statutory, then 1 month of no pay. I then officially go back to work, but I'll have so much leave (and I only work part time) so I'm taking another 8 weeks leave tagged on the end on full pay.

Yeah, that's the good thing about it @BntTowers. We know theres one offer in below asking price, but no one else has been able to see it or offer. We're going straight in with full asking price as it's worth it, and we want it. Just need them to accept and take it off the market, and ours to sell quickly. Just trying to think 'what will be, will be', but it's difficult. I can see me in there swanning around the kitchen with a glass of wine and baby in arms 😹

blankiesandunicorns · 01/09/2020 07:15

@Spark27 that's really good maternity package! I'm NHS so have decided to average my pay over a year so I don't feel such a drastic dip every few months. I'm on a months annual leave at the moment though before I start that which I'm so glad I was able to do.

I'm 36 weeks in 2 days and things like we're really moving along now! Waking up with aching sides though which is really uncomfortable all day.

Quiffy · 01/09/2020 08:12

@Treacle81 Did you manage to get through to your GP?

@mamamemmmer Good luck with your consultant appointment

@Spark27 ahhh all that house organising sounds amazing! Good luck with your offer today

@HerondaleDucks Enjoy your growth scan! I've been getting numbness in my right leg and foot, I had no idea it was a common pregnancy thing until I was panic googling. Yay on the decorators!

I think this is my last day at work before mat leave! Got two more things to write and send off. Another client was supposed to send stuff over but told them I was offline from today, I suspect they might ask if I'll do it anyway as I've emailed them my final invoice today, DH has told be to tell them to feck off if they do haha I get the guilts about it all

mamamemmmer · 01/09/2020 09:11

@Spark27 Ah I see! Gosh that must have been scary!

Jeeeez who do you work for?! I'd have a baby every year with that!!

Let us know if your offer is accepted, how wonderful and exciting!

Thanks @Quiffy I'm a bit early for the appt so sat outside in the sun for a few minutes peace after dropping DD off at nursery and DH at work. I'm so nervous!

Treaclepie19 · 01/09/2020 09:17

Morning all :)

@Quiffy hope your last day goes quickly 😊

I was in being checked for reduced movements last night so they've referred me for a growth scan because it's the second time.
Today we're having a pre-birthday celebration since our little boy will be at school tomorrow for his actual birthday ❤
He's had a few presents and we're going out for lunch and having cake later. Then tomorrow after school he can have the rest of his presents 😊 I can't believe he will be 5.

Also, we're all due next month!!!
My consultant is still offering an induction if I want one the week after the 23rd Sept but I'm trying to hold out for when she's ready 😬

@Quiffy hope your last day goes quickly and smoothly! Exciting to be stopping work.

@Spark27 good luck with the offer, let us know how you get on/if you hear anything back today.

@Treaclepie19 that sounds like a lovely day for your little boy. Is he excited about school or is his birthday distracting from that?

One of the girls in my NCT class has just had her 36 week appointment and it looks like they are relaxing the visiting post birth, as long as you have permission from the ward it looks like partners can stay for longer. Fingers crossed it stays this way! Still no partners before active labour though.

Spark27 · 01/09/2020 12:50

Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh- they've accepted our offer! I'm so excited. Just need to get ours under offer asap.
Trying to not start planning out all the rooms in my head, but it's hard.
Now, fingers crossed for a good mortgage rate and a quick sale. x

MrsK89 · 01/09/2020 12:55

@Spark27 ahh fab!! Congratulations 😁 x

@Treaclepie19 happy birthday to your little (big boy) for tomorrow. Knowing me ill forget to say it tomorrow x

Treacle81 · 01/09/2020 13:10

Hey girls! Wow, great news @Spark27, when would you like to be moved in? I have same maternity package as you, we certainly have it good! @Quiffy still can't get through, thinking of just turning up as really need to get something for this, it's so debilitating at times and I'm now hardly eating. @mamamemmmer hope all goes well. @Treaclepie19 glad all ok with Bea xx

MrsD1990 · 01/09/2020 14:35

@treaclepie19 hope all is ok with the scan today (I'm sure it will be!) Enjoy celebrating your DS birthday!!

@Spark27 omg congrats on getting the offer accepted!! Heard the housing market is moving quickly now so hopefully yours will have an offer soon!

I had such a lovely bank holiday. I know not everyone on Mumsnet likes baby showers but I've always wanted one. Because of Covid I accepted I wouldn't have one (my childhood best friends live hundreds of miles away so I couldn't justify asking them to travel during a pandemic).

Then on Saturday my friends threw me a surprise virtual baby shower! I was so touched. They had somehow coordinated everything and my husband had hidden all the presents in the house from me! My friend's boyfriend delivered them to him a few streets away earlier in the week and he snuck them in the house! He said he hid them on one of the days I was super busy at work so I didn't notice 😂😂 So feeling very lucky 🥰🥰

Treaclepie19 · 01/09/2020 15:34

Thanks everyone :) My scan has been booked for Friday. They wanted to do it tomorrow at 8.30 but I really need to be able to take ds to school.

@BntTowers he's very nervous about it so today is helping to keep him distracted!

Thats so exciting @Spark27!!

@MrsD1990 how sweet of your friends and hubby, great surprise 😃. I finally got through to GP practice, doc was lovely, saying how I'm nearly there and will prescribe omeprazole and hopefully that will help. Pick it up tomorrow xx
