Wow sounds like things are moving along for you @Treacle81! Iv had some sharp pains low down like daggers today, and pain in my back I was wondering if baby is engaging as suddenly feel very low and more pressure. But this is my second and apparently engagement happens later in second pregnancies so perhaps not. I don't want baby to come yet so hoping nothing else happens for a at least a couple of weeks! I might pack my hospital bag though just in case.

Spark27 · 29/08/2020 21:08

Sounds exciting @Treacle81. Things could be moving along x

You never know @blankiesandunicorns. At my 34w appt the mw said I was 4/5th engaged.

House viewings went well. Saw one we loved and will offer on on Tuesday. Exciting and scary. Got our house going on the market next week. Finger crossed, but even if we dont succeed with that one I think we've still decided that we're full steam ahead to sell and move.

DD has come out in another cold 🙄, but fortunately calpol has won out and she was asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. Fingers crossed the night goes smoothly, then tomorrow daddy can be in charge (if hes not too hungover!)

Treaclepie19 · 29/08/2020 21:09

It could be that @blankiesandunicorns! Midwife put that I was 3/5 engaged on Wednesday.

blankiesandunicorns · 29/08/2020 21:15

I wasn't engaged last Monday at my 34 week one but I have a growth scan on Thursday as apparently baby is big so perhaps they will be able to tell then.

Brilliant about the house viewings @Spark27 good luck with selling yours 🤞🏻

Spark27 · 29/08/2020 21:47

Do the rest of you have to hold onto your side to try and stop the baby from hurting you so much? It's like shes trying to burst her way out of my side and it's really painful. Not sure if it's a leg....arm....but owww

ChickenDipper28 · 30/08/2020 08:37

@Spark27 She loves completely laying on one side of my stomach (I get such a weird bump! Massive lump one side and flat the other when she does this!) So when I go to lay on my sides at night I have to hold my bump and do it slowly otherwise it can hurt and feel so uncomfortable 'cause if it's not the side she's on, she moves completely to the other side!
Anyone else have this? 🤣

Treacle81 · 30/08/2020 08:56

Morning girls. Yes to both those questions @Spark27 and @ChickenDipper28 I also get what must be a knee or a heel or elbow directly above belly button which is most unconfortable. I can't touch it as makes me feel quesy as so bony but partner slightly rubs it till baby moves position lol. I have to hold bump when I cough, sneeze, roll onto side in bed and now often when I'm walking depending on how he is lying. I went a beach walk with mum on Fri, stayed of five then he clearly moved and I started waddling he felt so low then a few minds later back to normal. V strange lol. Woke at half 3 last night for toilet and never got back to sleep till half 6 then up at 8 for work (over time). Gonna be early night for moi! xx

MrsK89 · 30/08/2020 11:51

Anyone feeling quite crampy in the lower abdomen and back. I'm so exhausted today 😴

Spark27 · 30/08/2020 17:50

@MrsK89 I am this afternoon. Not done loads today so I've not over done it. Got really bad lower back ache, and now getting cramps at the front at the bottom of my bump. Just in the bath now to see if that helps. Feeling pretty tired and sicky too after a rubbish night last night, so hoping for an early one tonight. So pleased it's a Bank Holiday so DH is home tomorrow to help with DD. x

otterbaby · 30/08/2020 18:23

@Spark27 yep, that feeling of a bony arm/leg raking across my insides gives me shivers!

How's everyone's weekend? We had a catch-up with our NCT group in a back garden and it was lovely. I'm feeling a lot more positive about having some nearby mums to meet up with once the babies are here!

Treacle81 · 30/08/2020 18:48

Really enjoyed my hour couch nap after work, needed it. Now waiting on my take out food and looking forward to BH tomorrow 😊 Heartburn has been awful today, need to try omeprazole ASAP, the double gaviscon never worked for me. Strange as it wasnt as bad through the night. Also felt very quesy today but thankfully no diarrhea (so far) xx

BntTowers · 30/08/2020 18:57

@otterbaby we had a NCT get together today too, which was really good to see people face to face.

I'm feeling really sicky at the moment. DH has had to cook dinner and I really don't fancy it. A chickpea curry. I don't think I really want to eat but really should.
DH did have a good idea in the he is going to do a post birth meal on one of the early night of being back home of steak, chips and red wine. I am massively looking forward to that! I can't really tolerate many potatoes at the moments and haven't tried chips yet. I'm finding gd is taking all enjoyment out of food.

Treaclepie19 · 30/08/2020 19:14

Sounds amazing @BntTowers 😍 Something to look forward to!

With you all on the aching, nausea, upset stomach and jabby movements.
I've finally finished baby's hospital bag apart from a couple of last minute bits.
Mine still isn't done. Mainly because I need the clothes to wear still 😂🙈

Tonight will be spent wrapping presents for our little boys birthday (it's Wednesday) and building his new bike ❤

BettyBotter1 · 30/08/2020 19:59

@Treaclepie19 ah that's nice, happy birthday to your DS!
@Spark27 that's very exciting about the house, fingers crossed for you. My DH was back for the weekend and we've applied for a house in Germany today, fingers crossed they accept our application.
@otterbaby glad to hear the NCT meetup went well, that sounds great having a local group of mums to connect with. How many managed to sit on the floor in the end?!

Anyone else getting more discharge? Is it stupid to wonder how to tell if it's just discharge or could be small amounts of amniotic fluid?

otterbaby · 30/08/2020 20:19

@BettyBotter1 luckily we had chairs, definitely wouldn't have managed on the ground 😂

I've had more discharge too. I think the difference is mine is still sort of milky whereas amniotic fluid would be mostly clear/yellowish. But then you also need to make sure it's not wee! So complicated.

MrsK89 · 30/08/2020 20:43

Currently sat on the ball, but it's giving me bh which is strange.
I'm also getting more discharge, changes day to day, sometimes thicker sometimes stringy lol

Spark27 · 30/08/2020 21:55

@BettyBotter1, exciting news on the house. Fingers crossed for you. I'm getting more discharge. It's pretty constant now. Would wear a panty liner all the time, but dont want to get nappy rash 🙈.
Sorry for the tmi, but mine ranges from really watery to really thick and stringy. Blurgh

LexiM · 30/08/2020 23:25

@BettyBotter1 hope things with the house go well. I get a fair amount of discharge, mine was quite watery before but now thicker. I have to wear a pantyliner all the time during the day.

My tummy is feeling so tight tonight, so uncomfortable. Have been on the ball for most of the time, how can he get any bigger!!

@BntTowers and @otterbaby glad you enjoyed your NCT meet ups, it's the one reason I sometimes wish I had done NCT.

@Treacle81 sorry your heartburn is bad. I read on another group that a small amount of bicarb in water can be amazing for heartburn, although I can imagine it doesnt taste great.

It was my mums birthday this weekend so we went out for dinner at a restaurant on the beach yesterday evening, was so nice and good to get out somewhere different. The cooler weather and evening meant the beach wasnt as busy as it has been recently. we hadn't been to the beach at all this year because of crowds.

My Husband has been watching the last few positive birth co videos with me, although he appears to be only half listening and making a joke of it, I can tell her was paying attention as he mentioned some bits to my mum today. I said to him he needs to be the kind of birth partner the midwives said was great rather than the kind they all wish they could kick out haha!!

Quiffy · 31/08/2020 09:20

I’m with everyone on the pain and discomfort, lower back and pressure down below is awful. Getting up and down off sofa or bed is horrific. I was trying to paint doors yesterday but discovered I can’t kneel anymore, as soon as I did there was shooting pains up my feet and calves - think I’m just too big. Then I couldn’t get up... Frustrating when baby hormones want everything done perfect and now!

@otterbaby @BntTowers that was really good to meet everyone in person

@BettyBotter1 very exciting on house!

@LexiM thar sounds lovely for your mum’s birthday

Happy 35 weeks to those hitting it. Feels so short and so long at the same time 😅😅

I’m attempting to put new fabric over some ikea cube boxes today. Not sure how that will go 😹

Treacle81 · 31/08/2020 10:52

Morning girls. A few of us seem to be sicky/got the runs, maybe just what happens around this time. Well that's me 35 weeks and 12 stone exactly! Partner nicely pointed out that my nipples alone prob with half a kilo each 😉😳! I've gained a pound every week apart from 3 weeks ago where I remained the same for a week but gained 2 the following to make up for it lol. Sound about right. Oh maybe it wasn't the mucus plug I lost a bit of them and just a thicker discharge. Trying to get through to GP surgery for omeprazole is a nightmare!! Hope everyone has nice bank holiday, might try get to the cinema, if you aren't required to wear mask and looks fairly quiet, we'll see. Really miss going. Fingers crossed on the house @Spark27 and @BettyBotter1. That meal sounds heavenly @BntTowers I had it without the red wine to celebrate dad's birthday on Sat, was v jealous of the red wine being passed! @LexiM that birthday dinner sounds fab 😍 I'm still unsure whether to buy the digital pack, might have left it too late but I'm sure when I finish up on 18th could fire through it. Really enjoyed the book, read that in 2 nights xx

mamamemmmer · 31/08/2020 11:17

Morning ladies!

How are we all today?

Hope everyone is coping okay with their aches and pains!

Anyone got any advice for coping with sciatica/SPD? I'm having a nightmare with it! I've been given pain relief as I can't walk properly but it's rather difficult with a toddler to look after!

I'm seeing a consultant tomorrow as well about really low iron. I've been on tablets for 6 weeks and when they took my bloods they have come back worse! They have suggested I get an infusion, has anyone had one before?

They're discussing an early induction with me tomorrow which is a bit scary as everything with baby is fine, it's just me that's not doing so well. Anyone experienced anything similar before?

Has anyone dealt with styes in pregnancy? I've never had them until this pregnancy and my latest one is going strong 10 days in and my right eye is totally shut!

Sorry for so many questions! Feeling a bit low and lost with it all today. Home alone with my DD and she's full of snot so she's being cuddly and happily watching Disney films with me which is a welcome relief!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Bank Holiday - last one before babies! Eeeek.

Spark27 · 31/08/2020 11:53

Cant help with the low iron or SPD I'm afraid. Really sounds like you're going through it though so sending love.
I was induced at 38+2 last time and it was a really positive experience. How early are they thinking for you?

This putting our house on the market is really helping with the nesting. I've got a cleaner booked in for a deep clean tomorrow (that was planned months ago as a pregnancy treat) which is timed really well as we're having estate agent photos taken Wednesday. That's really got DH motivated to declutter the house, sort the garden, etc. Hes been clearing old plants, cleaning windows, and hes gone to borrow a pressure water. My nesting vibes are thrilled 😹

mamamemmmer · 31/08/2020 12:17

@Spark27 I'll find out when they're thinking to induce me tomorrow. How was induction for you? What reason did they do it for (if you don't mind me asking).

Did you get your offer on the other house? How exciting! We're on the market as well at the moment, hoping to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday!

MrsK89 · 31/08/2020 13:53

@mamamemmmer regarding spd and sciatica, I've just been making sure I'm not standing or sitting for too long. Bring your legs together and slide to side of the bed when you are getting up. I don't sit on the floor for long as i can never find a nice enough position and I always end up with pins and needles. Birthing ball does help if u find it hard sitting on a chair.

I was induced 37+5 with first baby as there was a bit of watery blood on my pad so I went in to triage to show them. They induced me there and then. Contractions came on fast while on drip

mamamemmmer · 31/08/2020 14:10

@MrsK89

I'm go stiff if stay in the same place too long, I do find standing more comfortable but I always pay for it after!

I was meant to be induced last time but baby came naturally first, but we shall see! I've heard some horror stories about induction after 40 weeks, wonder if it's not as bad before then?

Thank you! When do you get to go through your birth plan? X
