Hey all! So I officially got my BFP last night, which puts me at 3weeks 3 days (I have another app telling me I'm at 4weeks 4 days) and I am due between 2nd and 8th May ❤️ I already feel super nauseous, and this will be baby number 3 (our last for sure). I was just wondering if anyone on here wanted to share this journey together - husband is brilliant but doesn't believe you can get nausea this quickly and I'm not close enough to my family to tell them just yet ☹️ so it might be a lonely journey for a little while x

@Natty47 it's so reassuring to read that I'm not alone in my crazy Google searching!

Happysunshine1 · 04/09/2020 10:52

@eternalflame2020 ooo that's the same date I have a scan too and been hesitating whether to move it back a bit but havent yet! Really hope it goes well for you when that time comes!
Ps the M&S grape juice sounds good! :)

Beepbeep42 · 04/09/2020 11:16

Congratulations newcomers!

I'm definitely more anxious this time around. I was super chilled my first (textbook) pregnancy so no idea why I'm like this now. Counting down to the 12 week scan!

Allgirlmum · 04/09/2020 11:23

What’s everyone’s symptoms so far I’m about 4 weeks I think

So far bloated
Had sore boobs last week
Tiredness
Smell seems to be sensitive this morning

Feeling nervous still 🙈

UnicornAndSparkles · 04/09/2020 12:04

6+5 here and thus far my symptoms have been:

Migraines (3)
Nausea most of the day
Boobs are sore and have grown. Ditto nipples!
General exhaustion

Hardly had any symptoms first time around!

k4rlyb · 04/09/2020 12:22

I've been feeling pretty tired the last week or so and had nausea as well.
First time round i was sick until 35 weeks Sad really hoping i don't have the same again.

potterface29 · 04/09/2020 12:43

Can I join in? Unexpectedly pregnant with my second. Severe mental health difficulties for a good 6 months last year so this has hit me out of the blue and has complications for me (hormones make anxiety worse)
Anyone on ssri while pregnant? Or has been? I'm on sertraline 200mg scared of birth defects or withdrawals with baby if I stay on, but also more scared of getting unwell if I came off them. Confused

Beepbeep42 · 04/09/2020 12:45

4+2
Mega bloated, occasional sore boobs, twinges, headaches in morning, eating less

Beepbeep42 · 04/09/2020 12:45

And I can already smell everything

fattymumbum · 04/09/2020 13:38

HI can I join?
Didn't want to believe the first test on Friday, but definitely a strong line now and I'm passed the 4week mark.

Think I'll start believing at 6 weeks.

Already feeling tired with morning insomnia, and a strange constant feeling of nervousness, but not baby related?

Welliedays · 04/09/2020 14:27

Sorry I can't help @potterface29,csn you phone the doctor/midwife to at least out your mind at rest? I hope your pregnancy goes well for you.

Symptom wise @allgirlmum (I'm 6 weeks 1 day today) I have sore, bigger boobs, fatigue even with going to bed earlier, occasional cramping and sharp pains, nausea and completely gone off food and drink - don't feel like anything, and occasional grumpiness, also a pretty spotty face! Think that's all my symptoms for now 🙄

ShalomToYouJackie · 04/09/2020 14:28

@potterface29 I was on Citalopram last time (I had a MC but not related to the medication). My GP wasn't worried at all and said it was safer and better for my health to stay on them than it would be to stop them. Don't worry about it Flowers I think if breastfeeding then it would need to be reviewed.

I'm not on them anymore although I'm so bloody anxious atm, I wish I was on them again!

Beepbeep42 · 04/09/2020 15:25

@potterface29 give the doctor a phone. I wasn't on Sertraline during my last pregnancy but I was told the risks are tiny. I have had to wean off sertraline several times in the past and it's very difficult and can be downright dangerous if not done properly so please don't change anything without speaking to a Dr first!

potterface29 · 04/09/2020 16:35

@Welliedays @ShalomToYouJackie @Beepbeep42

Thank you so much for the replies. I will speak to gp, but I was concerned as my doctors are crap sometimes and say the wrong thing so wanted to hear from people first hand.

Hope your pregnancies go OK!

I have no desire to stop them at the present moment, formula fed my first baby as I was too poorly mentally to breastfeedSad

Welliedays · 04/09/2020 16:42

@potterface29 if I was you I'd bottle feed again then, don't put extra pressure on yourself. Hope you manage to get a useful doctor!

cryptonaut · 04/09/2020 17:55

@potterface29 in my last pregnancy I was on amitriptyline (tricyclic antidepressants) but the dose was so small that the doctor gave me the choice. He said that he would only recommend staying on them if the benefits to me outweighed the risk to the baby. I felt in a place where I could come off them so felt like there wasn't really much benefit staying on them and weaned off over the course of a couple of weeks under the advice of the doctor.

If you feel that you are not ready to come off them then I would say it's best to stay on them. However, speak to a doctor for advice and maybe you could discuss a dosage adjustment instead? Just an option.

chaosisaladder · 05/09/2020 05:39

@potterface29 I’m a MH nurse and did my dissertation on SSRI use in pregnancy. The risks are very, very small (most of the studies looked at autism and developmental difficulties); all of the papers I looked at recommended mothers stay on their medication. I am on fluoxetine and I’ve dropped my dose from 40mg to 20mg for the first trimester; I’ll increase if I need to after the first trimester. I really strongly believe, based on my research and lived experience, that untreated MH problems in pregnancy pose a far greater risk to mother and baby outcomes than using SSRIs. Hope this helps!

I’ve been lurking since the beginning of the thread but still don’t feel confident enough to join! I’m due 2nd May and had an early scan this week (previous ? ectopic) and everything was in the right place - no HB yet but it was v early so not worried. I’ve just read too many horror stories on here over the years so I’ll excuse myself until I’ve had my 12w scan (if I make it that far... I’m so negative!)

Shinea · 05/09/2020 10:35

Hello ladies,
So today I had prenatal visit with my GP and due to my late miscarriage last time they have withdrawn my blood for test!! Awaiting for reports also they have put me on progesterone tablets and low dosage aspirin along with multivitamins.
I am bit relieved now that they are acting upon 😊fingers crossed for 8th week scan which is still 2 weeks away 🤞🤞

UnicornAndSparkles · 05/09/2020 12:03

Hi ladies, any recommendations for maternity bras? I'm out of my usual size at just shy of 7 weeks and am so uncomfortable. The stretchy crop top things squish my boobs together and I end up falling out the sides and middle. I usually opt for a plunge but again I'm falling out the middle and it looks ridiculous. I much prefer a proper bra clasp at the back rather than ones you have to pull on. Any recommendations? I'm a size 14/34E pre-pregnancy. Haven't measured since but I'm guessing maybe a 36F now.

Welliedays · 05/09/2020 12:09

@unicornandsparkles Try primark? I got some maternity ones from there which are surprisingly comfy

cryptonaut · 05/09/2020 12:42

@UnicornAndSparkles I've not tried them, but maybe try Bravissimo? They specialise in the bigger bust so you might have some luck with them. I got all my maternity/nursing bras in the Mothercare closing down sale.

stepmumSW5 · 05/09/2020 12:48

Hi ladies

I'm trying to catch up with the messages. I'm currently 4 weeks and feeling a bit lost in terms of timeline / what to do. The community midwife will see me in October when I'll be 9 weeks.

I've booked an appointment with the consultant at the hospital as well and I'm hoping to get all my questions answered then.

Right now my plan is to do the sneek peek gender test at 8 weeks, then follow with harmony test and scan at 10 weeks.

Anyone has a different timeline? I'm in the UK and welcome advice. Thank you xx

RoseandBloom · 05/09/2020 14:14

Hi everyone! So many messages to catch up on since I last posted. Will make a cup of decaf tea!!

Just thought I’d share this petition too, in case anyone wants to support it-
chng.it/cfhHz7B9zR

It’s a petition to allow partners to attend antenatal scans in PPE. 🤞🏼

RoseandBloom · 05/09/2020 14:15

Oh sorry! That’s actually the one to allow partners to be present for the whole of the birth. I was also sent another one about antenatal appointments. I’ll try and find it!

Truffle123 · 05/09/2020 16:47

Hi StepmumSW5

No advice, sorry. You have sorted much more than I have and seem to have everything under control Smile. I'm also 4 weeks (counting from the day of my last period) and feeling very lost! I have a health condition that means I will need consultant led care and probably a CS. My attempts to seek advice on a few issues so far haven't been very successful... I called my community midwives this week to inform them of my pregnancy and was hurried off the phone and asked to email them. They told me someone would be in touch 'in the next few weeks'.

I then discovered I'd put so much weight on during the last 5 months (working long hours from home on stressful Covid related work and having a very sedentary lifestyle due to wfh) that my BMI is now so high that I need 5 mg of folic acid (rather than the standard 400 micro grams.)Sad. My midwife confirmed I needed to request a prescription. I then made the mistake of googling the requirement to take 5 mg and could only find nhs advice relating to those who had had previous issues with neurological tube defects in pregnancy (ie they didn't mention obesity) and some scary articles stating there 'may' be a link between 'excess' folic acid and autism.... I requested a telephone appointment with my GP to discuss but instead received a text message from the surgery telling me my prescription had been issued - without even talking to a GP!

The icing on the cake is that my local hospital was recently rated 'requires improvement' for maternity care....

This morning I have emailed a private London maternity hospital requesting a telephone consultation with an obstetrician- I'm more than happy to pay as I'm feeling pretty anxious about the whole thing now. Would you mind if I ask how you were able to make an appointment with a consultant please? No probs if not Smile

Otherwise, I'm taking 5 mg folic acid, pregnacare and eating lots of folate and protein rich foods. Have started walking at least a mile a day and for stress management I'm trying to do 30 mins a day of pregnancy mediations (YouTube).

I'm also planning to arrange an early scan at just over 7 weeks and another at 9 weeks. I'm also considering the harmony test for extra reassurance. It would also be pretty cool to find out the gender early on Grin
