Hey all! So I officially got my BFP last night, which puts me at 3weeks 3 days (I have another app telling me I'm at 4weeks 4 days) and I am due between 2nd and 8th May ❤️ I already feel super nauseous, and this will be baby number 3 (our last for sure). I was just wondering if anyone on here wanted to share this journey together - husband is brilliant but doesn't believe you can get nausea this quickly and I'm not close enough to my family to tell them just yet ☹️ so it might be a lonely journey for a little while x

Thanks everyone! Sounds like it depends a lot on the area you're in.

Congrats @stepmumsw5! And welcome!

Yes I agree! I thought this year had passed quickly until now! :)

stepmumSW5 · 01/09/2020 17:44

Zee1988 · 01/09/2020 19:59

Hi everyone - congratulations to you all!

Had a positive test last tuesday, been trying since the start of the year after an ectopic last December so feeling so happy but also still very nervous. Have an early scan next Tuesday so have my fingers crossed everything will be ok this time. It will be our second baby, already have DD who is 2!

How is everyone feeling? I’ve had some nausea, mild cramps and some lower back pain but fingers crossed it doesn’t progress so anything more! I remember with my first I was sick every morning for the first trimester while brushing my teeth!

RH1238 · 01/09/2020 20:19

Hi everyone!

Joining today after having my BFP on Sunday, 13 DPO! Smile

Had to call the early pregnancy unit today to let them know as I suffered an ectopic pregnancy back in April (would have been our first). They’ll be monitoring my bloods now every other day just to make sure everything is ok. Caught again on first try so was a bit shocked, definitely expected it to take a while this time.

Feeling very nervous but glad to be reading everyone’s stories as we’re not quite ready to tell anybody yet xx

ScottishStardust · 01/09/2020 20:33

Congratulations @Zee1988 and @RH1238 especially after your previous ectopics!
I've previously had an ectopic, with a lost right tube, but my EPU aren't seeing anyone early for checks or scans!

Fortunately we are in a position whereby we can afford a private scan, we won't see much but as long as baby is in the right place I'm happy!

RH1238 · 01/09/2020 20:54

@ScottishStardust
Thank you! When do you have your scan booked for?

The EPU said I should be able to go in for a scan when they can see more so hopefully I’ll only have to wait a couple of weeks, if not we will book private again.
Just an anxious wait.

ScottishStardust · 01/09/2020 21:23

Ours is booked for exactly 6 weeks - aware that it's super early but would rather just see a blob in the right place than wait a week and risk losing another tube!

Ours said due to covid they can't offer early scans unless there are symptoms or concerns! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Just have to ride the storm! Trying not to think about it.

Zee1988 · 01/09/2020 22:57

Thank you @ScottishStardust

It’s so different all over the country with how scans and appointments are managed. I had surgery to remove a tube too as was/still breastfeeding my DD. I spoke to the midwife on the phone and she the likely good of another ectopic is small and the damaged one as been removed so fingers crossed there is no need for concern for any of us! I totally agree though that it will be such a weight off my mind to see on a screen everything just where it should be! I’m literally counting down the days until my appointment ... time this year has never gone so slowly!

MummyFD · 02/09/2020 09:20

@stepmumSW5 congratulations! Is this your first?

First wave of morning sickness now hitting at almost 6 weeks 🤢

@MummyFD thank you 💕 yes first time preggers 🤞

Pinkiii · 02/09/2020 09:49

I’m having a lot of cramping today, is it normal to be having that at nearly 5 weeks?

Hope everyone is doing well.

Louian · 02/09/2020 10:09

Hi 👋
Could I join please :)

Im currently just 5 weeks, due i think may 4th ish! First baby! Felt laid back about it until today then worried as I seemed to of lost the tiredness and acne and got cramps but trying to not look too much into it (easier said than done i guess)

Anyway hello to you all :)

DoctorBambino · 02/09/2020 10:30

@Pinkiii @Louian I'm also 5 weeks this week and was very crampy yesterday, must be normal if all 3 of us are the same!

I rang my GP yesterday and he gave me the maternity number but its for a hospital I dont want to go to. We live in between 2 hospitals and the one I would prefer is a little further away but takes the same time to get to. Now I dont know whether I'm allowed to just ring that hospital instead? Does anyone know would I just ring the maternity reception, community midwives office or the EPAU? I hate making phonecalls too!!

grandmasterstitch · 02/09/2020 10:35

Congrats @Louian! Same EDD as me

@Pinkiii cramping is normal, I had loads of it in my first pregnancy. This one seems a bit less but it could be because I'm not focusing on it as much with a toddler to chase

@DoctorBambino I would just ring the other hospital. Worst they can do is say no. For what it's worth I had all my midwife appointments at the GP surgery and all my scans and tests and consultant appointments at the hospital but it wasn't the hospital I ever planned to give birth in

Natty47 · 02/09/2020 10:35

@DoctorBambino my understanding is you can go to whichever you prefer. In fact, often it’s up to the patient to self refer anyway without even getting the GP involved (that’s what it’s like in my area for example) Hope that helps!

Whilstwewait · 02/09/2020 10:43

I'm the same today. Feel so anxious. Ive been spotting and even though i know its normal it just put me on edge. Test is still really strong. I think I'd feel a lot better if it wasn't for the spotting. Only 4w2 x

Natty47 · 02/09/2020 10:43

@DoctorBambino oh and if you don’t like making calls, do check the hospital’s website as often there is an online form you can use to self refer with, rather than ringing

Hogglebear · 02/09/2020 10:54

@UnicornAndSparkles Hi! I'm new to this thread and haven't had chance to read through all the comments to see what responses you got about migraines. I am a migraine sufferer anyway and worried how I am going to manage them through pregnancy. Some things that do help take the edge of slightly for me are using tiger balm white on my temples and the back of my neck (wherever I can slather it basically). And also I find that heat or cool on the back of my neck / forehead help. Some people like either hot or cold. I find that both help. Obviously tricky unless you can lie down but I find a hot water bottle or heat bag behind my neck can help a bit. Unfortunately I've found no miracle workers yet but hopefully these things might help a bit xx

Hogglebear · 02/09/2020 11:00

Hi all! Just found this thread and would love to join and speak to some other expentant mums that are at the same stage. Congratulations to you all!
I got a positive result on Saturday and currently 4+5 so really early. I'm freaking out all day about any little pain! I have already suffered with acid reflux for years and have had horrendous heartburn / indigestion which has progressively got worse over the last week or so. I don't know if it's just coincidence or if it's pregnancy related. Last night the pain was so bad it radiated through my chest, back and shoulders. This is something that does happen to me from time to time but now that I'm pregnant I am constantly wondering if it could be something else. Can't wait to get a first scan done so I know that everything is okay but it feels like such a long wait! Xx

UnicornAndSparkles · 02/09/2020 11:31

Hi @Hogglebear, thanks for the tip. I've only had 2 thus far (I'm 6+3) but they continued almost weekly in my first pregnancy, up until 17 weeks or so. Awful! I had a consultant prescribe some medication but obviously he couldn't guarantee it wouldn't harm the baby so I didn't take it in the end. Im going to talk to the midwife about it this time too. Lots of helpful tips like cool packs, darkened rooms, rest and water. They pass eventually but are pretty grim.

Congratulations on the new joiners!

Jellybean8 · 02/09/2020 11:42

Hi everyone. Please can I join, I got my bfp at the weekend after 12 months of TTC #1. Felt like it was never going to happen! Would be great to have some people to talk to through the early days as I'm driving myself mad with Dr Google already!
