Hey all! So I officially got my BFP last night, which puts me at 3weeks 3 days (I have another app telling me I'm at 4weeks 4 days) and I am due between 2nd and 8th May ❤️ I already feel super nauseous, and this will be baby number 3 (our last for sure). I was just wondering if anyone on here wanted to share this journey together - husband is brilliant but doesn't believe you can get nausea this quickly and I'm not close enough to my family to tell them just yet ☹️ so it might be a lonely journey for a little while x

I'm still breastfeeding my 19 month old so I haven't had any alcohol for over 2 years, perfect excuse.
Otherwise I would just get a Diet Coke and say it has vodka in it as that's what I would normally drink anyway.

UnicornAndSparkles · 01/09/2020 10:22

Morning all,

Wow this group has really lifted off! I hadnt caught up for a few days and there are 200+ messages to read! Haven't managed to get through all off them but I see there have been some losses. Im so sorry. Devastating, no matter how early. I really hope you are all being kind to yourselves and getting plenty of rest and have someone to talk to.

6+2 here and 2 weeks away from my scan. I did my third and final test last week and it came up at 3+ weeks so hopefully that's a sign things are progressing as they should be. No more tests for me, I just had one to use up. I do find they cause anxiety and tbh im not sure they give much reassurance.

We've told my PiL, my sister and one friend; everyone we would want for support if thjngs didn't work out. Thats it for now. I'll tell my parents after the scan I expect.

I've been wondering about the alcohol situation too. Last time it was easier as I could say I was doing dry Janurary. You could opt for saying you have a hangover and cant face it, or drive, or maybe that you've put on some lockdown weight and need to be careful. Or, my favourite as its true for me, that you started drinking way too much over lockdown with the glass of wine during the 5pm update and then continuing into the evening that you feel you need a break just to reset your body and ensure you don't become a little too reliant!

Is it too early to have cravings/aversions? I used to eat a banana every morning. Now just the texture of it makes me feel queasy. Also want Diet Coke every day!

Gingergeek89 · 01/09/2020 11:39

I was looking into getting a book to help read about pregnancy in more detail, researching on the internet is bringing up mostly information on risks and complications and it’s making me very nervous. (I appreciate it’s important to have an awareness but struggling to find much on normal pregnancy progression)

Has anyone used a book in a previous pregnancy that they would recommend?

Gingergeek89 · 01/09/2020 11:41

@abitfunny I had aversions from 4+2, texture being a huge thing. Still not able to even be a room with raw meat and anything with any form of texture is harder for me to eat. I’m with you on bananas

DoctorBambino · 01/09/2020 11:50

@Gingergeek89 I've just got "The day by day pregnancy book" by Dr. Maggie blott I'm finding it reassuring and helpful unlike all the scary Internet stuff I read haha!

I still have basically no symptoms, boob soreness comes and goes but thats about it. Other than my skin looks bloody fantastic which is very unusual for me! Happy with that one!

Gingergeek89 · 01/09/2020 11:59

@DoctorBambino thank you for the recommendation, found it online and it looks like it has loads of information glad to hear it is reassuring

UnicornAndSparkles · 01/09/2020 12:06

I found these two books helpful in my first pregnancy. Mother Shock is more for when the baby arrives, but Expecting Better is great for a pregnancy read.

Due date May 2021!
Gingergeek89 · 01/09/2020 12:40

@UnicornAndSparkles thank you! Will have a look into them Smile

leaferty · 01/09/2020 15:21

At what point are you all doing your self referral for maternity care?

My hospital trust asks you to do it before 9 weeks. I'm now 6+1 but I feel like I'm going to jinx it if I refer now, even though I know that's stupid!

I have an early scan at the end of next week so tempted to wait until then.

InTheFamilyTree · 01/09/2020 15:29

Hi everyone, looks like a whole lotta babies coming in spring!

I've just found out I'm pregnant with number 3, we weren't trying (possibly had planned too in future) so was a bit of a surprise.

It's very early still but got mild nausea and fatigue, but not so extreme as with number 1. Hope it stays like this as not looking forward to being heavily preggers with a 1 year old and 3 year old Shock

InTheFamilyTree · 01/09/2020 15:31

Would love to know if anyone is in SE London. Am really missing my play group crowd

grandmasterstitch · 01/09/2020 15:34

@leaferty I was planning on ringing the midwife next week at 6 weeks but I've had to call the GP today about some medication so he might refer me. Otherwise I'll ring next week

cryptonaut · 01/09/2020 15:57

I second the day by day pregnancy book, very informative, a little repetitive at times but I would recommend it.

UnicornAndSparkles · 01/09/2020 16:15

I made my referral when I found out, around 4+3, they like to book you in early so I would do it soon. I was emailed 10 days later and was told to expect a telephone first appointment before week 9, which gives them 2.5 weeks to call me.

Andsoitbegins88 · 01/09/2020 16:15

Just catching up and loving everyone’s reasons for not drinking 😂 I wasn’t worried about the question because I thought I’d be able to bat if off pretty easily but in reality I just went blank and mumbled that I didn’t fancy it...!

I’ve just bought Day by Day Pregnancy, haven’t started it yet so don’t have an opinion but it looks good. Also like the look of Expecting Better - thanks @UnicornAndSparkles

Gingergeek89 · 01/09/2020 16:20

@cryptonaut thank you. Day to day book is ordered and arriving tomorrow

With regards to midwife referral also did it soon after I found out. Figured that way should have someone to contact if needed a little earlier on and received loads of information from them via email when they acknowledged the referral

ScottishStardust · 01/09/2020 17:02

I did my referral as soon as we found out! Just as well as she only had 1 appointment left that week and it's already in week 9 instead of 8 (like the prefer to do)

I would recommend just booking in time.

Happysunshine1 · 01/09/2020 17:03

Hey all!
This may be a daft question, but do we need to refer to the midwife at our GP practice AND a local hospital? So far my gp just asked me to book in with the practice midwife. Maybe she then refers me to the hospital for scans etc? Thank you! Just a little unsure! X

Pinkiii · 01/09/2020 17:05

@Happysunshine1 I think it might be different in each area due to covid atm.

I rang GP and they told me to register at the hospital and midwife will be in touch.

If you’re GP didn’t mention about registering with hospital, I assume you won’t need to and the midwife will do it for you later.

Happysunshine1 · 01/09/2020 17:08

Thanks @Pinkiii . I'm seeing the midwife when in week 9, so I will ask her then.

Just need time to hurry up now! Anyone found any clever ways of making the days pass a little faster?! X

grandmasterstitch · 01/09/2020 17:15

@Happysunshine1 last time I just made an appointment with the midwife and then she referred me for a scan and to see the consultant. Then I assume I was registered with the hospital for those appointments but I didn't give birth there so no idea when/how I got registered at that one 🤷🏼‍♀️

stepmumSW5 · 01/09/2020 17:20

Hello

Can I join?

Just got my bfp 💕

Due date May 2021!
Whilstwewait · 01/09/2020 17:23

I think I'll leave it until next week to call the midwife team I'll be five weeks then.

Anyone else feeling nervous? I was so excited yesterday but as I'm not officially late until tomorrow feel like I've been on knickerwatch all day. No symptoms apart from an occasional dry mouth

@Happysunshine1 the days are just dragging. I thought being in work would make it go quicker but its worse. Roll on 12 weeks x

cryptonaut · 01/09/2020 17:28

In my area we have midwives allocated to different GP practices, you call the surgery and request to book in with the midwife, no need to see or speak to the GP. They then book the scans etc at the hospital.
