@SmileyT @blodyn91 Thank you for the advice ☺️ I'm going to give it a few days and decide last minute what to do. Maybe after a day off at home tomorrow I'll feel better! Although knowing me I'll probably just book it anyway.

Mococo1 · 18/08/2020 17:02

@Ltay2 if it makes u feel any better everyones symptoms vary!

With this one my symptoms completely disappeared and I was so worried before my follow up scan with EPU then I've had symptoms days after and some days the symptoms just won't exist - and if I'm comparing it to my MC the symptoms are 30% of what I had then so each pregnancy is different. TBH I still worry everyday so maybe it just depends on your outlook. Best to have a think about it like you said 😊 it's just extra reassurance if you do!

@SmileyT has got it right + 2w onto ovulation but you seem pretty standard (I have a longer cycle 32d and so something like that affects my measurements as I'm four days out of LMP which would have an affect on an early scan) which is why I asked 😊

@Mustbemad82 fingers crossed for you hoping it's good news

@Sausage1990 good luck tomorrow!

I think they do a follow up scan in most cases especially if a HB isn't seen (which is likely if you're less than 6w) so fingers crossed for you both x

Sausage1990 · 18/08/2020 17:24

@blodyn91 I would say most of the time they're just like a background discomfort and tenderness but it can get hard to ignore so I need to add heat or have a bath, enough pain to make me stop whatever I'm doing to try to ease it, and it got to the point yesterday where I was thinking I needed some pain relief... That's when I called the gp. It varies in intensity and come & goes. If I were you I'd try not to worry too much immediately and see how you feel. if the pain persists tomorrow or gets worse then call the GP, it could be because you've got yourself all upset. Also I'm sorry to hear youve been outbid on the barn 😔 I know how much you wanted it. Is this the end if the road with the barn? 😔

@Mustbemad82 it's interesting that she said she's like to see stringer numbers, the midwives I spoke to said the number itself doesn't really matter so much because everyone is different in how much hcg they produce however it's the doubling & the number progression that's important. Interesting how different people explain or see it differently.

@Ltay2 ias the others said, if it will put your mind at ease then do it. @SmileyT is right, you should be able to see something and maybe even hear a heart beat at nearly 7 weeks so if it's what you need to do then do it. At the 9 week scan you can see the baby's growth progress which will be great and really reassuring.

There's a lady I follow on insta who's a fertility Dr and on Fridays she does a Q&A so I asked what her thoughts were on early scans (especially with 1st trimester anxiety) and she was all for it. She explained that the best time to get scans if you fell you want to have them is week 6-7 then a follow up at 9-10wks. She said it was because between 6-7 weeks you can see a heart beat (in the little blob) and they check the crown to rump size, then get another scan around 9 weeks checks growth progress as an embryo that grows properly between weeks 7-9 are highly unlikely to result in miscarriage (this is a crucial phase). So apparently poor progress in that period is more likely to end in miscarriage but good growth is really positive and reassuring. Now I don't know if this knowledge is helpful but for me it is as I like to know what's going on and prepare just incase. Pessimistic maybe but hey.

Right this is a long post so I'm guna post it then go back and see if I've forgot to reply to anyone lol xx

Sausage1990 · 18/08/2020 17:38

@blodyn91 I like your positive attitude, I think if I hadn't had the pain I would be the same. I was feeling so much better having seen line progression. But hopefully soon I'll be back on the positive train 🤞🏻 I love your attitude its very healthy 😊

@Ltay2 I don't have many symptoms either. A little bit of breast tenderness that's intermittent and nothing to write home about, a bit of indegestion sometimes (I never get it so this is new for me) & I have actually lost my appetite. No nausea just don't really fancy anything except any type of salted crisps and cheese & bean toasties haha.

From reading all the comments etc I think my conclusion for myself is I need to focus on calm. What will be, will be with this pregnancy. I mean as a general rule, we can't alter the outcomes of a successful or unsuccessful pregnancy, scans are more for reassurance for us and our mental health (and safety with ectopic) because whatever the scan says we cant alter the outcome, good or bad. It's in the hands of mother nature and we just have to pray that all is okay and pray for strength if its not.

I hope this doesn't come across as doom and gloom, it's not meant to. I think I've just reached a point of calm today having had reflection time. I will be a ball of nerves in the morning but I'll try my best to remain calm 😊

blodyn91 · 18/08/2020 18:18

@Sausage1990 not doom and gloom at all, pretty real I thought. We are all on different kind of journeys. I do get why lots of you are worried after what you have gone through. One of my older brothers was a still born and my mum is doing all the stressing on my behalf, I just know tests todays are way better than they were then. He was a bit deformed and its just sad that mum had to give birth to him and not terminate earlier on. She went on to have 4 healthy babies in the end.
We have increased our bid again somehow 🙈 Literally cant go any higher, but whats for you wont go by you, so still looking.

Ltay2 · 18/08/2020 19:03

@Sausage1990 That is actually very helpful regarding the scan advice from the fertility doctor. I am fairly certain I am going to go ahead and book the scan I will only think about it otherwise! I only get nausea when I'm hungry like now it's just washed over me 🙈 I would love a cheese toastie and some crisps right now actually.. do I have the energy to clean the toastie machine after is the real question 😂

SmileyT · 18/08/2020 19:06

@Sausage1990 @blodyn91 I think you've both got great attitudes and I think that throughout the next 30weeks we will all have our wobbles, but I definitely feel more positive for being in this group, so thanks you beautiful bunch ❤️

Mustbemad82 · 18/08/2020 19:28

@Sausage1990 absolutely the right attitude
I’ve been for a good walk, had a talk with DH and seems a little less daunting now
Thanks for the pep talk , that’s why sometimes the kindness of strangers can be overwhelming

@SmileyT I agree, this forum helps no end . You’re a fab bunch

blodyn91 · 18/08/2020 19:30

My booking appointmentetter has arrived. Its in person on the 11th of September. Got a Screening test for you and your baby handbook as well. Its feeling a bit more real now.

Mococo1 · 18/08/2020 19:35

@Sausage1990 well done on being calm!

@blodyn91 yay! Defo getting real now and I really hope you get the barn with the higher bid! Xx

I haven't got my 12w scan letter or the screening for you and your baby info yet but hoping it will come through after my Booking appt! X

samilicious · 18/08/2020 20:44

@zippityzip what is it with guys and this whole breadwinner thing?! My OH is obsessed with saving a stupid amount of money for literally no reason at all. He keeps reminding me that he won't be paying for everything after the baby all the time - I pay half for everything now apart from meals out (once a month tops usually at like Nando's, nowhere fancy). I've got my own savings and recently paid off all my overdrafts and credit cards I've had since uni. Bizarre. He does like the idea of splitting the maternity period, so might give him a month to show him how hard it is to save future arguments about who's working harder 😇

@MrsEmilyB super cute reveal! And really meaningful with the cotton. You'll both never forget this anniversary 🥰 I was the same, waking up early last few weeks but stopped now. Just felt dead sick and knackered and light cramps all day instead today, but had to go in the office and swear not wearing joggers / having to get up and move around more made it worse

@Mustbemad82 @Sausage1990 fingers crossed for you both tomorrow - will be thinking of you ❤️

@Ltay2 I'm booked in for a scan when I'm 6+5 according to what I think was my LMP date (although I did start lighter a few days before and CB showed me a week ahead of where I thought I was). I'm just doing it for my peace of mind, staying positive but also realistic because of how much stuff affected me from my past. I'd go every week if I could afford it 😂

Sausage1990 · 18/08/2020 21:03

Haha yes @Ltay2 this is the problem isn't it - am I mentally prepared to clean it?! Tbh I'm quite lucky I got DH a microwave toastie maker for Xmas to make it work lunches better but he prefers to keep it at home so I've been making the most of it and it's so easy to rinse... Only downside is it's not particularly deep fill so I have to sacrifice some beans but I'll live lol.

@blodyn91 oh gosh I hope this is a good enough offer 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 and I'm glad my reflective rambles made sense lol and the story about your brother is reassuring too.

Thanks @SmileyT & @Mococo1 I'm trying Hahaha. I agree wholeheartedly that this group is great and a life saver for all of our sanity (and that of DH tbh because I would be a nightmare rambling on at him about ALL OF THE THINGS that he just can't understand why I'm obsessed haha) 💕😊

@samilicious oh god having to leave the house etc must make it worse. I'm going back to work mid September just as I (hopefully) hit week 8 so I really hope my symptoms don't get too bad because I work in a department of only women and they will ALL guess immediately 🙈

zippityzip · 19/08/2020 08:04

Good luck @Sausage1990 and @Mustbemad82 thinking of you both this morning xxxx

zippityzip · 19/08/2020 08:09

@samilicious oh I don't get it at all - for the first time in our entire relationship he is earning slightly more than me. We've always split bills 50/50 and he is literally the worst with money. We've been saving to try and match my income whilst on Mat leave so I can continue to pay the same bills etc so it literally won't affect his life at all. In fact it'll be better because I will ALWAYS be at home clearing up and making dinner and taking charge of all the kids.
Is it like an internal human instinct to be manly and be the hunter gatherer once I'm pregnant I don't know but it's the 21st century so grow up!!

Sausage1990 · 19/08/2020 08:09

@zippityzip thanks lovely 💕

zippityzip · 19/08/2020 08:12

@Ltay2 For toasties you need a George Foreman grill - we have one where the plates come out and straight into the dishwasher. Best Christmas gift ever - I use it for everything (not just the healthy griddle bollocks it's advertised for!)

Ltay2 · 19/08/2020 08:22

@zippityzip Ooo what a good idea! My former housemate used to have a George foreman and I loved it don't know why I haven't got one myself!

Madz123 · 19/08/2020 08:30

Hope everything goes well for those having scans today!

Sorry I've not been very active on this thread (although I have been keeping up with it) just feeling stressed at the moment. We were literally about a week from closing on our first house but the survey has come back terrible which is just so frustrating and there's now so many decisions to make 🙄😕 can't believe it- we were so close! Also the nausea has ramped up the last few days making me feel like a terrible mum as I've not wanted to really do anything and my poor toddler is bored out of his mind 😕 sorry for the rant!

Hope everyone is well 😊

MrsEmilyB · 19/08/2020 09:31

Good luck to all being scanned today. Please update us - we are here for you ❤️❤️

Mococo1 · 19/08/2020 09:35

Thinking of you guys today @Sausage1990 and @Mustbemad82

Cocoblue22 · 19/08/2020 09:37

@Sausage1990 @Mustbemad82 hope all goes well with the scan for you both this morning x

@Ltay2 I was 6+4 by measurement on my first scan (thought I was 7+1) and baby looked like a bean but could see the heartbeat flickering away which was reassuring and they checked all was in the right place and my ovaries etc so I would definitely say it was worthwhile. Saw a lot more at the 9+6 scan as baby actually looked like baby then and was waving but they both gave me reassurance and I would have both and happily pay £79 for both again it was well worth it in my opinion. The second one was particularly lovely as there was a lot more to see it was also great to see the progress of how much little bean had grown in those 2 1/2 weeks x

@Madz123 I'm exactly the same all I want to do is sleep! Luckily my DS has had daddy and his grandparents to occupy him more then last few weeks. We are not bad mums though we are just growing their new best friend that's all in a few weeks we will be much perkier so don't feel bad they won't remember these few weeks (and probably aren't even bored it's just us being hard on ourselves) x

Hope everyone is good today....I've gone back to bed I should be doing some work and cleaning but I feel sick and DH said go back to bed for a bit so I didn't need telling twice! X

samilicious · 19/08/2020 09:47

@Sausage1990 luckily it was a one off! They want us to start going back in 2 days from mid Sept but apparently it's not mandatory, so we'll see. Women are so naughty like that!

Spoke to HR woman yesterday about fears about going in vs fear of disclosing pregnancy in the team because of our colleague being made redundant on mat leave (had all new directors, none of which new her/her skill set because she's been forgotten she got the chop). And the HR woman was really sh*tty with me, couldn't get off the phone because she was kicking off saying her being on mat had nothing to do with it. Said if someone was pregnant they had to tell them ASAP for risk assessments 🤔 we work in an office part of the time, not a building site or prison! And you are allowed in even if you're pregnant. Made me certain I'm not telling anyone until 20 weeks.

@blodyn91 🤞🏻your offer goes through and isn't beaten. Good outlook about what's meant to be yours though - definitely think that's the case with houses, but at least you know you've done all you can with this one

@zippityzip deffo ingrained in them - mine earns double what I earn but I've always paid half too. Although mine does all the cleaning so not too bad. You're Wonder Woman taking all that on at the same time btw!

Can't wait to hear the scan results today 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Mococo1 · 19/08/2020 10:14

Wow speaking to you ladies I feel really lucky! my DH earns nearly double the amount I do so he just ends up paying for everything (mortgage etc) as he is awful with savings. I save most my my salary as our joint savings ( I pay for little things like my phone bill and the water and council tax but not very much tbh) and then my usual shopping 🛍 I'm in awe of all you superwomen out there doing it all!!

@samilicious you aren't required by law to tell your employer until 15w before your due date I think (and I think that's purely so they can get your mat leave sorted in time!) so do it when you feel comfortable - HR woman sounds horrible tbh x

Ltay2 · 19/08/2020 10:14

@Cocoblue22 Aww thank you! I've decided to not go on Saturday as OH was concerned about me going alone just in case there was any bad news as he's at work and I don't want him to worry about me all day. So I've decided that I will see how I am during the week and if I still feel I need another early scan I will go to a place near work on Wednesday with my Mum so at least I won't be on my own.

Sausage1990 · 19/08/2020 10:36

Hi girls so my scan went well. She was able to see a gestational sack in my uterus so no ectopic, and she dated me at 5+3 which is an estimate but pretty much where I thought I was. She said for my hormone levels and dates she was happy with what she could see on the scan and said everything is progressing as it should be at this stage. Huge relief.

It was an internal scan an tbh I found it really uncomfortable, I got all hot and bothering so just wanted it to be over so I didn't ask to see anything and I really don't mind. Its just good to know it's going OK so far.

@Mustbemad82 I hope your scan goes OK later 🤞🏻🙏🏻
