@SmileyT I just hear so many women complain about their partners not helping out etc (not all but some) but realistically 2 weeks is not a long time to build confidence with looking after a new little life so you can understand why some partners may step back but not intentionally if you get me? I was always worried I would struggle but surprisingly I just took to parent hood despite not carrying baby. Hope your well and not too tired.

Madz123 · 04/09/2020 22:35

Sorry I haven't posted anything in ages- literally feel like I haven't had a day off work in forever! I've caught up though! I've just had some spotting and now am absolutely terrified 😭 I know a lot of people have it and seems like a few on here have as well? But still, it's so scary 😭💔

SmileyT · 05/09/2020 07:29

@Busybee143 I totally agree about the other parent not having as much time to bond. One of my friends husbands got furloughed until October then a pretty decent redundancy package so he has been off with her and their newborn (born July) since May and it's amazing how much more shared everything is. My friend also doesn't have that loneliness that other friends have experienced because from day 1 they have both spent pretty much 24hrs together. She says she doesn't have that 'I need to shower or poo what should I do' feeling and can have a nap during the day if it's been a long night of cluster feeds, but most of us don't have that option. Although with Covid hopefully more parents have flexible working going forward ❤️

@Madz123 I think spotting can be so scary but can definitely be caused by lots of things that have nothing to do with the health of your bubba. I'd just suggest resting up and if you start to really panic about it, contact your GP as they may be able to refer you for a scan to put your mind at ease. Hope it's stopped today anyway for you xx

When I had my first 2 in the nineties god I sound old ! (They are 23 and 21) paternity leave was 2 days unpaid x

Ltay2 · 05/09/2020 08:41

@Dipsy77 Wow 2 days! That is ridiculous! 2 weeks is bad enough 🙈

@Sausage1990 Good luck with your scan today! ❤️ what time is it at?

I have already been sick once today, it's going to be a long day 😩 I've eaten now and feel a bit better so going to get some cleaning done before it strikes again! Hopefully going to enjoy my first bath in 7 weeks later, got my little floating duck thermometer and baby bubble bath at the ready 😂

Sausage1990 · 05/09/2020 08:59

@Ltay2 gosh that's a rubbish start to the day but do enjoy your bath 😊 I read that the signs of if your bath is too hot is if it leaves your skin a different colour. So if your skin stays normal colour and doesn't go red, and you remain at a normal body temperature (aka don't get too hot in the bath) then it's fine. Its worked OK for me, but I have shut the window a few times so the breeze doesn't make me too cold too quickly. You'll enjoy a bath after so long tho 😊 My scan is 3.30pm.

@SmileyT I work in a nearly all female department but one of my male colleagues recently baby and he officially only had 2 weeks off but work extended it to 4 weeks due to covid and because his wife's family weren't able to come to help at all. I don't know if he got paid for that but knowing my boss he probably did. I thought that was really good tbh because you're right that it's isolating at the best of times but during lockdown must be so much worse. X

Ltay2 · 05/09/2020 09:45

@Sausage1990 I will very much enjoy it! Yeah just going to be careful with the temperature but this little thermometer I've got beeps if it's over 37 degrees so it'll ease my anxieties! My scan is in the afternoon tomorrow too, wish I had managed to get one for the morning now so I don't have to spend all day worrying but it was the earliest one!

Cocoblue22 · 05/09/2020 10:22

Ladies please can I have some advice? Went out for dinner last night then at like 2am woke up with bad tummy pain and went to the loo and then was dizzy and threw up. I'm worried it's food poisoning. I've googled it and it says it can really harm the baby. DH thinks I'm being over dramatic and that 'it will be fine.' I feel mostly okay now but not sure if I should be ringing the midwife or something? Anyone had similar. I'm also not sure whether it just didn't agree with me and laid heavy on my tummy causing bloating etc. As soon as I was sick I felt loads better x

LittleRa · 05/09/2020 11:56

@Cocoblue22 What did you have to eat? I hope you’re feeling better now. Drink plenty of water!

Cocoblue22 · 05/09/2020 12:06

@LittleRa I had a prawn curry...full of regret now and worrying x

Sausage1990 · 05/09/2020 12:45

@Cocoblue22 it's probably nothing to worry about hun. I've had this before. Not while pregnant but I've had a rich meal and then for some reason it doesn't sit right with me and it makes me feel horrific & sick then I feel okay again. I think it's to do with the digestive system just being like Nope! Unless your symptoms continue I wouldn't worry too much. If you are worrying then you can always seek advice from the NHS helpline. Hope you're feeling better now tho. 💕

I am so scared about later. Honestly I feel so so so nervous. Because I've ahd some spotting I'm just so worried we won't find a heartbeat. I have no logical explanation for it I've just got this horrible feeling. I know that spotting can be normal and harmless and it all may be completely okay and I may be back at 4pm ish saying it was all good but God I don't know. I just need to get these thoughts out of my head. Don't feel obliged to respond to my ramblings. It's such a scary thing that literally no-one can predict or influence the outcome. Finding that hard to sit with today. I'm doing my best to stay calm & breathe. So many feelings xxx

Ltay2 · 05/09/2020 13:22

@Cocoblue22 Do you have any other symptoms of food poisoning? From what you've said it sounds like it could just be a bit of an upset stomach from rich food ☺️

@Sausage1990 I will feel this exact same way tomorrow so I totally understand. ❤️

Sausage1990 · 05/09/2020 13:46

@Ltay2 yeah I'm kinda glad a few of us are at the same point tbh. I just find that when I express these worries and thoughts to anyone else (my mum, DH or whoever) they just say try to relax it will all be fine, try to enjoy it. And I'm like well I'm trying but I'm also so terrified. They don't seem to get it. I know they're trying to be positive but it doesn't help me lol 🙈 god I feel crazy today. X

SmileyT · 05/09/2020 15:27

@Dipsy77 yeah 2 days is ridiculous, @Sausage1990 my DP is carrying a week of holiday so will hopefully have at least 4weeks at home with me as with his job he can pretty much book holiday time last minute 🙌🏾

@Ltay2 hope you enjoy your bath with your little ducky later 🥰

@Cocoblue22 I've not had food poisoning but understand the worry lovely. I did have a read up on it before and I don't think there is any specific treatment the MW could help with but if you're still feeling sick and dehydrated I'd definitely call 111 or head to A&E as they can put you on a drip with fluids. I don't think you can overreact in pregnancy if it's worrying you x

@Sausage1990 hope all goes well lovely, will be awaiting your update ❤️

@Sausage1990 Mine are the same! My mum understands why I'm worried but also does the mum thing and tries to make me relax!

So pregnancy baths are pretty cold 🤣 my little duck helper was good though, I definitely would have over estimated the temperature without it! Also made me realise how hot my pre-pregnancy bath temperature must have been to only be able inch my way in 😳

Sausage1990 · 05/09/2020 18:47

Hi ladies - scan all done and all is well 🥳 we have a 7+4 weeks old blob with a heartbeat 💕 so relived. EDD 20th April.

I was able to have an abdominal scan which was good. The images aren't as clear as a result but we could see what we needed to see so I'm happy with that 😊

Ltay2 · 05/09/2020 19:08

@Sausage1990 So glad everything went well! 💕

SmileyT · 05/09/2020 19:13

@Sausage1990 ahh been patiently waiting for an update, so glad all was well with little one ❤️

@Ltay2 yeah I kinda imagined that it wouldn't be my normal temp, but hope you still enjoyed it. I'm just not staying in baths longer than 10mins, can't see anything on the NHS website about actually taking bath temp so just judging it by touch 😬

Good luck to those with scans tomorrow @Ltay2 @MrsEmilyB xx

Hi lovely.

I had food poisoning over the weekend! I had scallops (at a really nice restaurant actually so unexpected) but I was very very sick for the entire night and then was in bed for another 2 days. I ended up speaking to EPU for the same reason as you, but they really weren't concerned as I was only sick for the one night - even though it was a good 10 times they said its very very very rare for it to be harmful to the baby, only really in the case that it makes you sick for longer than 7 days. If you were only sick once I would think you'd be ok, but speak to EPU if you're at all concerned. After all, you can never be too careful. Hope you're feeling ok now! Xx

Busybee143 · 05/09/2020 20:05

@Sausage1990 I'm so very happy for you!!!! How is the spotting now? Your all making me really jealous with your scans but I just can't justify paying for a scan as Im watching the pennies at the moment, roll on the next 6 weeks 😁 I guess it will make it even more exciting 😁😁

Sausage1990 · 05/09/2020 20:31

@busybee143 thanks lovely. Yes I am still having the spotting but again it's brown and only on wiping and intermittent, and I'm not having cramps Or anything like that so I think it's ok... I am keeping an eye in things but having seen baby's heartbeat today was reassuring. My mam told me today that she has spotting in her 1st trimester with me too so I found that reassuring.
Oh god it must be so hard to wait. I understand waiting though because it wasn't the cheapest (£79). I felt that personally it put my mind at ease so was worth it but definitely not cheap if penny's are tight. I'm with you now tho as I've got about 5 weeks ish now before my 12week NHS scan. Let the waiting game commence 🙏🏻

Ltay2 · 05/09/2020 20:34

Those of you that have got the NHS 12 week scan booked already how soon did you get your appointment? I have my booking appointment over the phone on Wednesday so maybe I'll get a letter after that?

LittleRa · 05/09/2020 20:38

@Ltay2 Yes, I got my scan appointment letter in the post after my booking in appointment- I think they check you are actually pregnant from your samples before they book your scan. At the booking in appt midwife said after today I’ll enter you into the system and you’ll receive scan appt in the post in the next few days. I then booked my 20 week scan in person at my 12 week scan.

Busybee143 · 05/09/2020 21:12

@Sausage1990 I'm so glad you're OK, I think we all need to remember that spotting is normal. I'm really glad to hear you're feeling reassured. Last time I paid for a private scan I got bad news and I don't want to pay for bad news, who would eh? 😂 I am so excited to hit 12 weeks I keep having to have a word with myself to chill out as I don't want to get too attached just yet but I can't help it 😁 it's so exciting!
