@zippityzip I'm glad you got a nice scan photo and baby is doing well 🥰 but I'm sorry you had a negative experience with that woman. There really is no need for it, especially given that early pregnancy is such an anxious time anyway... And I agree @blodyn91 why would you work in that area if you're without compassion and caring?! Definitely make the most of your chilled day and eating crisps 😁

Busybee143 · 04/09/2020 11:11

@zippityzip what an absolute arsehole, she has no idea what you may of previously been through or your anxieties and worries. I hope you don't get her again. I hope you're OK now after your Crisps 😂

Cocoblue22 · 04/09/2020 11:34

My DH is starting a new job and just found out he won't qualify for any paternity leave does anyone know if there's any way around this at all? It wasn't out of choice he was made redundant so had to get a new job x

zippityzip · 04/09/2020 11:47

@Cocoblue22 Paternity leave is usually two weeks isn't it?
Can he take AL instead? Or agree a period of unpaid leave if you can afford it? X

LittleRa · 04/09/2020 12:20

Hi ladies,

I had a voicemail from the antenatal screening clinic and called back. Straight away she reassured me that I’ve tested low risk for the genetic markers- Downs, Edwards and Pateau. But I’ve tested positive for a protein in my blood which can indicate I’ll develop high blood pressure which can lead to low birth weight. I explained I had low birth weight last time and already have consultant appointment booked and she said that all made sense and tied in. I will get three extra growth scans from 28 weeks onwards, those growth scans will determine whether I’m high risk or not so may indicate that I’ll be ok to have a water birth still, just depends but doesn’t necessarily rule it out. I need to get a prescription of Aspirin and start taking daily. I don’t currently have high BP but at risk of developing it during pregnancy.
I did ask whether it put me into any high risk category with regards to attending work but unfortunately not 😂😂😂
She said it’s nothing you have or haven’t done, just one of those things.
My heart nearly stopped when I heard the voicemail asking to ring them back though.

Mococo1 · 04/09/2020 12:25

@Cocoblue22 I'm sure he will be entitled to statutory paternity leave? But that's not very much like £152.90 a week I think- I better ask my DH if his company offers anything extra now.. otherwise not sure how our mortgage will get paid and best to save up now than force him to work 😑 hope he can take some time off!

@zippityzip omg! What an absolute cow I feel so bad no one should ever have happiness hindered by someone so rude 😤 baby looks so cute why would you not want a photo of the gorgeous little bean!? Don't let that experience get you down hopefully next time you won't have her 😩

Do nhs charge for photos these days ???

@blodyn91 all the time!! And my lips are dry and I have low blood pressure and dizzinesss as well!

Weight myself this morning I've lost a pound WOOO! However I'm officially showing a bit DH looked at me this morning and went WOAH that grew overnight 😫

Cocoblue22 · 04/09/2020 15:38

@blodyn91 glad to hear your sister had a better experience the second time that's what I've heard from friends too that have had a planned c section that it's calm so that's what I'm hoping for! I'm also really thirsty too! X

@zippityzip I am sorry she spoilt today for you! And yes that is rude and incorrect my scan at 9+5 looked like a baby like yours does and we got photos and at 6 weeks when it did just look like a bean! She wants sacking I hate rude people. Glad you got a photo though what a cute little baby! And hope the rest of your day has been better! Yeah DH is going to take annual leave the problem is he doesn't get much but as long as they let him take it when we need him to it shouldn't be a problem just shocking he doesn't get it he's never been out of work in his life! X

@LittleRa oh I bet that voicemail did make you anxious but good they've got a plan in place x

@Mococo1 I didn't know there was such a think as statutory paternity leave? I thought it was just dependent on your company? Normally nhs charge £5 a photo but I got three for free at mine so not sure why @zippityzip had to pay x

Sausage1990 · 04/09/2020 15:53

Girls I've had a wierd symptoms & worry day today. I have a lie in and got up for my morning wee at about 10.30am and my bladder was really sore and I felt really uncomfortable in my lower abdomen with sharp pains shooting downwards. When I wiped I thought it looked a little discoloured but maybe it's just my wee being strong (sorry tmi).
Anyway I Originally I thought god these cramps aren't comfortable so ran a warm bath to see if it would help but it didn't and then thought gosh the shooting pains feel like it's shooting down my urethra so I thought maybe it's a UTI. This was about 12.30pm so I called the gp who I'm still waiting from a call back from.

Anwuay since then I jusy went to the toilet and I had a fair amount of brown cm again and it's making me worry again. I know last time it was nothing and it went but I'm worried this time because of my tummy discomfort. It doesn't feel like period cramps like normal, it's like sharp pains that last a few moments and then go. I'm guna mention this to the GP too when he calls and I know I've got my private scan tomorrow but God im fearing the worst 😩

Mococo1 · 04/09/2020 16:31

@Cocoblue22 I think so I just looked it up on the gov website so hopefully he will have this to fall back on (at the very minimum) here is the link:

www.gov.uk/paternity-pay-leave/pay

@LittleRa I can imagine that voicemail giving you a fright! Glad youve called and got it all sorted - fingers crossed everything is okay and you get the water birth- no harm done having a few extra scans to see bub is all well and okay

@Sausage1990 you've done the right thing by calling your gp..I hope everything is okay with you and you aren't too anxious - can understand that it's worrying but spotting/cramping can also be normal so I hope this is the case - only plus side is it's not long to wait till your scan so I'm hoping and praying you can breathe a sigh of relief soon xxx

Sausage1990 · 04/09/2020 16:39

@Mococo1 yeah I keep telling myself that it can be very normal and not a sign to worry about. I just find it easier to manage once I've shared worth someone and as DH is in work i thought it best to reach out here instead of driving myself insane. I just need to get the scan done. By this time tomorrow we'll know what's what 😕

Sorry I've not joined in on the other chat today, feeling a little bit preoccupied but i will let you all know how tomorrow goes 🤞🏻

Sausage1990 · 04/09/2020 17:50

I've spoken to the GP and she reassured me regarding my possible UTI & spotting. She said what we all know that it can be normal and to try to relax if possible. She said if it get worse or painful then I should call the out of Hours urgently. As my symptoms of uti have settled she told me I must have lots of fluids and (again) symptom watch... Hopefully it won't come to anything. If they worsen over the weekend then we'll send a water sample off on Monday 😊 she was really reassuring and kind. I've found it helpful.

My nausea is rough at this time of day so I'm having a healthy snack 👍🏻 (and the percy pigs is all about balance) 🐷

blodyn91 · 04/09/2020 18:12

@Cocoblue22 How long does he need to work there to qualify? My OH has been at his job for 10 years and only getting the two weeks, cant use any AL as we need them for the wedding 🙈 (he doesn't get much as he has to take most of them during factory shut down).

@Sausage1990 glad you have been re assured! Sickness and dizzyness hit me bad this morning. Even gagged a few times 🤢 Realised I had corn flakes not porridge for brekkie, so blaming the corn flakes 😆 Dog walk helped and ate an early lunch, then I was fine again. 😅
OH gone out for dinner with his mates so reading my pregnancy fitness book 💆🏼‍♀️

blodyn91 · 04/09/2020 18:13

@LittleRa thats so good that a protein in your blood can show that! Looks like you will be well looked after!

Busybee143 · 04/09/2020 18:16

@Sausage1990 try not to worry too much, sending you lots of well wishes, everything will be absolutely fine, spotting is very normal.

Sausage1990 · 04/09/2020 18:23

@blodyn91 gosh that's rubbish about feeling poorly this morning but hopefully it won't be pattern of things to come... Blame the cornflakes for sure 😂 a nice quiet evening sounds good to me!

I didn't know that paternity leave wasn't a given tbh... I'm quite lucky that DH has been in his job for a good few years now so should qualify for a few weeks leave. Tbh I think paternity leave should be longer than 2 weeks, it's bearly long enough to get into any kind of rhythm... Maybe work places will be more flexible with flexible working since all the covid stuff has forced them to do so an they all realise its actually very possible xx

Sausage1990 · 04/09/2020 18:24

@busybee143 thank you xx

blodyn91 · 04/09/2020 18:34

2weeks is a joke isn't it! Should be 4 at least! OH works for Jaguar Landrover on the robots so no wfh for him 😩

LittleRa · 04/09/2020 18:48

My DP is a teacher like me, hoping to time things so he gets 2 weeks paternity swiftly followed by the 2 week Easter holidays (due date 8th March, school hols start Friday 26th March)... we’ll see how that works out 😬🤣

Mustbemad82 · 04/09/2020 18:52

@Sausage1990 keep us posted about the scan I had the same sort of thing last week
UTI and thrush- is very painful

Hope you have a good night

Ltay2 · 04/09/2020 19:22

@Sausage1990 Loving the Percy pigs for balance 😂 actually been thinking I'll treat myself to some Percy pigs after my scan on Sunday with there being an M&S across the road 🐷

blodyn91 · 04/09/2020 20:05

@LittleRa very well planned!

Busybee143 · 04/09/2020 21:10

2 weeks paternity is discusting partners deserve more time off to help build the bond, I only got two weeks when my wife had our little girl and I missed them so much. I feel really lucky this corona has given me 6 months with her to make up for lost time. Its totally different in other countries isn't it.

blodyn91 · 04/09/2020 21:17

@Busybee143 have you thought about sharing maternity? We are going to look into it, so after 3 months, OH takes maternity and I go back to work.

Busybee143 · 04/09/2020 21:20

@blodyn91 yeah we have talked about that but wifey says you need to time to mentally recover but I guess everyone is different

SmileyT · 04/09/2020 21:25

@zippityzip that sonographer sounds like a proper dick but glad all was well with bub and you get to see them again in a couple weeks 🥰

@Mustbemad82 yay so glad all was well, yes definitely stay off of google. What I've learnt over the last 4months of MN and google is that there are positive and negative outcomes for literally every scenario so no point driving ourselves mad stressing xx

@Cocoblue22 ahh amazing you could feel your little bean I guess if you know what you're feeling for it makes it easier. At my last scan the sonographer said that because of the placement of my placenta I should feel things early but I'm pretty unobservant so I probably won't notice straight away. Sorry I have no clue about Pat leave but I did think it was something you should be able to negotiate when he starts x

@LittleRa glad you are getting looked after even if the vmail gave you a fright x

@Sausage1990 good luck for your scan tomorrow, hope it relieves all of your stresses ❤️

@Busybee143 It is unfair that you don't get more than 2 weeks, I was going to mention shared parental but looks like you've already considered that x
