@Amy00 that sounds very promising! Annoying that you can't start until then though. Would you do a little bit of decorating in the meantime to see you through or would that be pointless if you're taking walls down/extending? I know the curry bloat feeling! Went for a curry the other day and just put a baggy dress on, couldn't stand the thought of leggings pressing in 😖

zippityzip · 28/08/2020 12:01

Ladies what's the craic on holidays at the moment.

Ours obviously got cancelled this year and I'm so desperate to have a break to look forward to. I've got our refund put aside to book something else - which I would rather do before I spend it.

Can we book for next year? Will I get insured? Can I book for a baby that hasn't been born yet?! (Prob born end of March and then travel end of August so 4 months old).

I'm thinking like Turkey, Canaries, Portugal - short flight for a baby.

blodyn91 · 28/08/2020 13:19

@Amy00 honestly you'll be fine with a new born and building site! As long as you have warm water and a good place to sleep. If we got this barn we would have been in a caravan as the whole roof needed to come off. It will definitely all be worth it. Babies get used to the same noises 😊

Also your bloods situation confuses me, like they need to be done between weeks 8-11 I thought so they cannot make you wait?

Yep booked to go to the testing centre at 4pm. Not allowed to visit customer s if showing symptoms, I don't think I have corona, but just need confirmation for work.

@zippityzip Unfortunately I have no idea! We need to go somewhere for our honey moon and no idea what to do

Ltay2 · 28/08/2020 13:22

@Amy00 I'm feeling ok this morning, maybe I was just being a bit paranoid yesterday. I have been trying to drink more so probably weeping more because of that and just pregnancy in general. I dropped off a urine sample at the docs this morning just incase but I'm not too worried anymore. I was more concerned about the weird sensation I had on my lower right hip area and panicking about ectopic but it's ok today. I'll feel so much better once I've had my first scan on the 6th, although still dreading it!!

SmileyT · 28/08/2020 14:05

@samilicious love your style with those maternity wear pics, I'm a big fan of a knitted dress, tights and boots ☺️

@blodyn91 ooh that book looks interesting, did my first workout in ages today, HR said it got up to 200 😬 but it was during the warm up so think my Fitbit was just being a tad sensitive and kept it below 165 for the rest of the workout. Didn't think I'd grown that much but my XS gym wear may not be fit for purpose for long 😂 I'd get a test, you can get them at pharmacies now can't you x

@Sausage1990 I've also heard mixed reviews on pregnacare I just take folic acid and vit D as that's what my midwife/ NHS website said I needed x

@Amy00 good news on the fact the work is feasible, annoying about the wait but like others have said you can do it pretty quick my parents built a 5 bed with a granny flat and all decorating done in about 12months from the ground up, they lived in the granny flat for about 9months of it 😂 I didn't have drive through bloods, I had them at the hospital after my phone booking, tbh I've never heard of drive through bloods at all before but I know a lot of trusts are doing bloods at the 12week scan 🤔

@zippityzip I've got a holiday booked for November and will probably book another one for Mat leave, love a holiday ✈️ just make sure you have travel insurance and that it's ATOL protected, our flights this year can be cancelled up to 72hrs beforehand and you don't lose any money. We always used to go on holiday with my nephews and definitely think it's easier with newborns than toddlers 😂 but I'm pretty sure you have to put in yourself your name when booking, so maybe wait to book until they are born 🤔

Update from me just walked out of my scan measuring a couple days ahead at 11w1, she directed me to the toilet afterwards and I randomly pretended I needed it even though I definitely didn't drink water beforehand 😂

Heading home to my parents for a couple nights but luckily all my symptoms seem to have subsided so should be all good 👌🏾

@SmileyT 11+1... we are so close, I think I am 11+0 today (that’s going on my long cycle calculations, midwife’s 28 day cycle calculations would have me at 11+6 today rolling over to 12+0 tomorrow).
I just had a phone call from midwife REMINDING me about scan on Tues- as if I could forget!! And confirming I can bring DP 🎉 I also asked about whether I can bring him to consultant appointment the following week and she said she thinks that will be a telephone appointment.
I’ve been for my hair cut today, 2 inches off as I haven’t had it cut since Feb (had appt for April which obv never happened) but I didn’t get my usual highlights, going to wait until 2nd trimester, and it actually doesn’t look too bad.
I’ve got a few dresses for work which aren’t maternity but are floaty/stretchy, from Morrison’s funnily enough, only £10. I got 3 same style, different prints, just handy to throw on with leggings or thick tights.
I also got some ASOS vouchers for my birthday earlier this month so may get some maternity jeans after my scan all being well.
Hope everyone is well! Plans over the bank holiday weekend??

Cocoblue22 · 28/08/2020 17:31

@Amy00 I've never heard of drive through bloods!! 4 week wait is ridiculous you'd be better having them at your scan if you have to wait that long. As long as you have one room away from the building work and hot water/heating you'll be fine. Young babies sleep all the time and through noise too so it shouldn't be a problem you can always get some baby ear defenders if it is really loud x

@zippityzip we've got a holiday booked for next year which was moved back from this year but haven't told them about the new baby yet. Under 2s don't get their own seat on the plane so generally don't cost any extra so I don't think it will be a problem to add them on but I think you can book them on now but you'd have to update the name and dob etc after they are born and registered. All those places would be fine with a baby we're going to Majorca x

@SmileyT yay to another good scan! Was it a private one or was that your nhs 12 week one? I'm close to you and @LittleRa too I'm 11+3 today can't wait for scan next weds x

Going out for dinner tonight with DH but I honestly feel ready to go to sleep haha! Soooo tired!! 😴 x

Mococo1 · 28/08/2020 23:16

Yay to you 11week mark ladies !! @Amy00 good luck with scan tomorrow

@littleRa Had a really busy day so looking forward to a relaxed weeekend!

Just got back my urine sample results I have suspected Asymptomatic bacteriuria..anyone have any more information on this? Can't be too serious as they said to bring another urine sample when I next pop in and in brackets it said 20week scan in the letter but I'm still not booked for the 12w one yet lol so will drop it off then I guess ? It's quite common says mr google but obv I'm a bit worried if it leads to something more severe like kidney issues/low birth weight x anyone else got this/had it before x

MrsEmilyB · 28/08/2020 23:51

Hey girls. I just need a rant! I'm so sorry in advance and I'll go back and read what you've all been up to after but I'm so FURIOUS right now. Maybe I'm being unreasonable? Definitely need some advice before I respond.

Told my dad and step mum earlier. Super excited. My half brother and step brother were in the house and obviously heard. I asked the whole family not to tell anyone else, including my step sister (we don't really get along too well) as she wasn't there and we are telling siblings (including DH's lovely sisters) once we have had a successful 7 week scan. We confirmed this TWICE with them and they said they wouldn't.

an hour after we left and i get a text: "I've told her, hope that's okay". Cue me sobbing in a service station bathroom. I text back to say that it wasn't okay and asked him why he did it and he responded "because she's family" so again I responded to say he should have asked, it's our news not his, and it should come from us. He's responded with "well, I'm sorry you're upset"

Am I being unreasonable? I just feel like he's really betrayed my trust ☹️ we have a lot of unspoken issues anyway as Im treated like the afterthought of the family anyway (like not in the family WhatsApp group, not invited on family holidays etc) and maybe it's my emotions being sky high but this has just hurt me so much ☹️☹️☹️

Sorry. Big rant. But can't rant to anyone else as noone else knows I'm pregnant! 🖤🖤🖤

SmileyT · 29/08/2020 06:46

@MrsEmilyB ahh I'm sorry you had a tough time last night, was it your dad who told your step-sister? Personally I'd be fuming if this was me, for you to chose to share the news with them so early and then for them not to be able to keep quiet even enough time to get home I'd be really disappointed. I guess it's the fact that they didn't respect your wishes rather than her knowing now, I'd have a proper conversation when you're calm about it, about how it's made you feel x

@Mococo1 sorry not something I've heard of before, but if they aren't worried at Drs must be common and harmless x

@LittleRa @Cocoblue22 yay think we are really close together 👌🏾 I have my NHS scan a week on Monday

OP posts:
blodyn91 · 29/08/2020 07:36

@Mococo1 just googled and found a paper on it, this is what it says 'Abstract
Symptom-free bacterial colonization of the lower urinary tract in an otherwise healthy individual was long misunderstood. Our current understanding is based on solid research proving that asymptomatic bacteriuria (ABU) is harmless and even protective against symptomatic urinary tract infection episodes. Thus, ABU should not be treated in patients with the exception of before endosurgery and, until we have accumulated more knowledge, in pregnant women' maybe they have done further research since but I would question if you can get treated. Thing is it will be antibiotics I can imagine, and you also want to stay clear from them.

@MrsEmilyB very annoying! I would have called them back and told them off! I still haven't told my older brother as he lives further away from my parents and wasn't about when I told them, does not mean one bit that he isn't part of the family!

Ltay2 · 29/08/2020 08:10

@MrsEmilyB Urgh that is sooo rude and annoying! This is the reason I'm not telling my dad until after the 12 week scan as I honestly don't trust him not to tell anyone. I know he wouldn't do it maliciously but he'd probably just not consider my feelings and be like 'don't tell anyone else but...' and then they'll tell someone else and so on. My mum and stepdad know already and I know and OH parents will know after the 9 week scan but I know for certain they won't tell anybody else until we're ready.

So I've just done another COVID test this morning as part of a research study and I can honestly say it was the worst experience ever, the first test I did before I was pregnant was bad enough for making me gag but this was just 🤢. Extreme nausea + sticking a swab down your throat is NOT fun 😩

Mococo1 · 29/08/2020 08:23

@MrsEmilyB completely understandable! I would be upset too as it's your news to tell not anyone else's...especially since you requested they didn't say anything...If they had an issue with you not telling her then that should have been a face to face discussion whilst you were rather than just go do it..sorry this has happened x

@blodyn91 thank you I'm guessing since they are in no rush for another urine sample they probably want to double check it/ the infection to resolve on its own before they try to treat it (purely to stop it becoming like a full blown kidney infection during pregnancy and lead to some other word I haven't heard of!). I've done some more research this morning and yes it's antibiotics they give (as it can cause low birth weight/premature delivery so it's essential) and then il need to take regular urine tests throughout the pregnancy too - I hope it was just a contaminated test and my next one comes back all clear! X

LittleRa · 29/08/2020 11:18

Ahh well I’ve just spoken to my Head Teacher and filled her in. She was very shocked! She said when I texted last week she’d assumed it was something to do with school/the pupils etc. But was very pleased for me, saying it was an exciting new chapter etc (I’ve worked there through my previous relationship breaking up). I told her about the scan being the first day back (teacher training day) and she said she’d send me the PowerPoints etc and that I can duck out when needed and to tell anyone who asks that it’s my DD who has an appointment rather than me to throw them off the scent!

mrsmummy1111 · 29/08/2020 11:40

Oh that's amazing @LittleRa ! I bet that's a weight off your shoulders and sounds like she took it really well. No pressure re: the training day either which means you can go and enjoy your scan without worrying about anything back at work Smile

Amy00 · 29/08/2020 15:57

So I had bad news at the scan. Supposed to be 7+6 today but there is no embryo, she could see an empty sac and the placenta developing normally just nothing in there. It's called an anembryonic pregnancy.

Next step is to contact the EPU and have them scan again to confirm, but they close at 2pm on weekends and it's not an emergency.

We are so sad.

I know MMCs are so common and a number of you lovely ladies have each been through similar situations which I do find of some comfort to know this is not just me, and that we will still be able to go on and have healthy babies. Just got to get through the next painful stage and move forward. 😢

LittleRa · 29/08/2020 16:18

Oh @Amy00 I’m so sorry 💕

SmileyT · 29/08/2020 16:21

@Amy00 I am so sorry to read this, I know it doesn't make things any better but I did go through a MMC in March and know it is so horribly sad. Please take the time you need and look after each other... sending you so much love ❤️

OP posts:
Ltay2 · 29/08/2020 16:21

@Amy00 I'm so so sorry can only imagine how you will be feeling 💔 this is my biggest fear. I can't understand why NHS don't offer a scan before 12 weeks it's so long to wait not knowing for sure what's going on.

Madz123 · 29/08/2020 16:25

@Amy00 I'm so sorry 💔

FairyLights2 · 29/08/2020 17:48

@Amy00 I am so sorry to hear that 💔 My thoughts and prayers go out to you x

Amy00 · 29/08/2020 19:12

Thank you ❤️

The scan lady was so nice. She said back in the day the nhs did the first scan at 20 weeks and how awful it was for women to discover something had gone wrong so early but not to find out until 20 weeks. I'm so glad we know now. Next time I will be booking a six week scan!

Gosh ladies - making babies is so difficult isn't it.

I feel like my body has cheated me, as I had no bleeding and all the right symptoms.

I'll be heading back to the TTC bus again when I'm ready. I really wish you all the very best ❤️

Sausage1990 · 29/08/2020 19:18

@amy00 I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. My heart breaks for you, its everyone's worst nightmare 💔 sending lots of love and hugs to you & your partner xxxx

Mustbemad82 · 29/08/2020 19:35

So so sorry to hear this . Sending you lots of love to you both. X❤️
