@Amy00 how exciting!! Yeh agree with the gals make a list of priorities before baby comes and do those - e.g working kitchen, bedroom, bathroom etc lol - cosmetic can be done slowly

SmileyT · 26/08/2020 21:03

@zippityzip he is a train signaller so works 12hr shifts but on average every 4th shift is a spare (only has to go in if somebody is sick etc) so I reckon he works about 10 days a month without overtime. And I've got to say having him work 4/5 nights a month is great for nights alone to just chill out and miss him a bit plus he has no excuse not to do night feeds when the time comes as he only has to get up for work about 5 mornings a month 😂

@UnluckyDucky yay to getting the boy you wanted. Congrats lovely 🥳

@SmileyT think I'm In the wrong job tbh And I need to be one of what your DH does 😂 please see if you can work nearer to home! Would be so useful for you 🥰

In laws just left - had a nice takeaway and DH insisted i lay on the sofa and he proceeded to doing the washing up! I'm shocked then he called me the most beaut thing he's ever seen (all whilst I'm sprawled out like one of them Antarctic sea lions 😂) 👀 would totally treat him tonight if I wasn't completely and utterly shattered. I miss sex but I'm just too tired never thought id ever say this 😩

Mococo1 · 26/08/2020 22:38

@unluckyducky I remember you! Congrats on the boy 🥰🥰🥰🥰

zippityzip · 27/08/2020 06:13

@UnluckyDucky Congratulations! What on earth is swaying?! Sounds so exciting haha. Really pleased for you.

@SmileyT Ah signalling sounds like something that needs experience and probably a degree. At least he's so used to nights he should be up helping with the feeds when baby comes! Your manager sounds like a dick - can you write a very nicely worded email and copy someone else into it? When you're pregnant your boss is liable to make "reasonable adjustments" for your safety (especially during Covid) I don't see how asking to work closer to home is unreasonable - especially if someone else is doing it.
You could always do what I did and throw up into the office bin to get sent home.

@Mococo1 DH obviously making up for his arsehole half hour!! I know what you mean, we weren't exactly swinging from chandeliers every night ourselves but we've prob done it half a dozen times since the BFP? Wait until the second trimester - lots of women get super horny then.

@Amy00 I'm so jealous, I would love to remodel a house. But yes I agree with everyone - get the main stuff done (functional kitchen, extension) and worry about cosmetic as you go.

zippityzip · 27/08/2020 06:47

Urgh and also - just trying to buy some maternity stuff online.
I managed to get some nice bits from H&M and Shein, but looking everywhere for nice tops and it's all shite.
When you're pregnant you need to wear plain basic T-shirt's and that's it apparently. With granny stripes in shitty colours.

Amy00 · 27/08/2020 09:52

@blodyn91 @Cocoblue22 @SmileyT @Mococo1 @zippityzip so the house is liveable as it is, although needs redecorating throughout as hasn't been touched since the 70s 🙈 and the bathroom is downstairs which is irritating but fine, it's a massive disabled wetroom with a sit down shower rails everywhere etc 😂

So we could in theory just redecorate, but we bought it with the intention of extending out the back downstairs and knocking through some walls - would like to turn 3 rooms into one big extended space. There is also an existing ground floor extension out the side that we would like to build on top of, to put a bathroom upstairs and another bedroom (possibly with en-suite!), and this would be our forever home.

At the time we sort of thought it would take around 8 months to conceive as I read that was the average, so thought we would likely have a lot more time! Only took 3 months to catch and the house purchase dragged on for an extra couple months partly due to lockdown so feel like we've actually lost 7 months out of the house timeline 😂

It'll work itself out I'm sure.

Nausea has hit me like a train today, nearly vommed in the shower. Feel lucky not to really have suffered up until now!

Got my booking appointment in person tomorrow with the midwife - exciting! And scan in 2 days on Saturday when I'll be I think 7+6. 😬

Ltay2 · 27/08/2020 13:15

Is it the weekend yet? So tired at the moment 😴 just counting down the days until my 9 week scan although dreading it at the same time, just convinced it's going to be bad news for some reason. Also waiting on a call back from the GP as feel I may be starting with a UTI. I've never had one before so don't even know what it's supposed to feel like, I have no pain or burning but something just feels 'odd' and I have a right side low down ache (more of a feeling not a pain) so hoping it is a UTI if anything and not anything more serious.

samilicious · 27/08/2020 16:03

@zippityzip sooo crap isn't it! I know it's mega sad but searched a few hashtags on Instagram from pregnancy clothes inspo of people who dress similar to me. I would describe my style as 'adult emo' for reference haha. Most of it crap but saw one or two accounts that were great. Nothing too fancy, and a lot of the stuff on this account would be great for post partum if I want to wear looser/comfier stuff but still look nice. Maxi skirts and jumper dresses, band tops with bodycon kinda dresses underneath. Lots of layers for autumn/winter and helpful if our temperature is a bit higher anyway to de-layer when necessary

Don't want to get loads of stuff I'll barely wear again, so a few bits like this seem a good shout

samilicious · 27/08/2020 16:10

@zippityzip sorry I know this isn't your first baby so you probs know this stuff but just thought I'd share because I felt the same when window shopping online 😊

@Amy00 wow the house will be amazing when you're done! I think it's really good that you made the leap now, I know lots of people that put off moving and stay in a house that doesn't suit there needs for years

@Ltay2 sounds gross but is there any kind of strong smell or colour to your wee? Or weird swirly patterns in it? That's usually a good sign of it being a UTI in my experience

Ltay2 · 27/08/2020 16:14

@samilicious No it's strange I don't have any real urine problems so I don't know why I thought it was that 🙈 I've spoken to the GP and she wasn't too concerned she said it didn't sound as though there was enough going on for it to be a urine infection so didn't want to issue antibiotics yet especially with me being pregnant which is understandable but she did say to drop off a urine sample and they'll run a few tests just incase so I guess that's the best outcome I could have hoped for really. I'm just hoping it's not signs of ectopic or anything bad although I would have thought I would be in some significant pain by now if that was the case.

blodyn91 · 27/08/2020 17:10

@Ltay2 you would know if you had an UTI stinggsss to wee and you constantly need to wee.

@Amy00 I would still get the ball rolling or you never will, especially if you have the money ready? get the architect/ builders out and come up with a design. My friend started building a house from scratch in May.... they'll be moving in before Christmas. So pick good builders! You can always do the decorating later on. No point spending to re decorate now only to smash through walls later. Sounds amazing though!

Ltay2 · 27/08/2020 20:16

@blodyn91 Oh well must not be that then as I have no stinging at all just a weird achey feeling! Still going to take a urine sample in, if nothing else they may be able to tell me if my hcg levels are normal before my booking appointment in 2 weeks although doubt they will test for that 😬

blodyn91 · 27/08/2020 20:22

So this is the book I've got and i'm really enjoying it atm. It has sections for 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester s, then in each one a program for beginners, intermediates, advanced.
Then the first chapter is very interesting, all about how your body changes and the importance of having a strong body for good alignment/posture. Its the first time I've read something and it doesn't make me feel guilty for exercising, but also good for anybody who wants to start now, after all child birth is quite a challenge that is definitely worth training for right? 😄 (it goes over simple things like importance of squatting to pick up laundry so you don't hurt your back). Alsooo progesterone lowers your blood pressure- increasing your HR then you get used to it so HR drops- that explains the variable RHR we are having.

blodyn91 · 27/08/2020 20:24

@Ltay2 unless its mild? please don't worry!! I keep having weird sensations/pains so do think its normal. Drink lots of water anyway.

Cocoblue22 · 27/08/2020 21:17

@UnluckyDucky congratulations on your little boy 💙🎉 x

Sausage1990 · 27/08/2020 23:17

Hi ladies sorry I've been MIA the last few days. I managed my meal out with friends well and i mainly had potatoes haha thankfully noone was paying attention to what I was or wasn't eating 👍🏻

I've also been struggling with horrible all day nausea which was really bad yesterday and the day before. This morning I woke up feeling ropey and couldn't face my big pregnacare tablet so just took my 5mg folic acid and today I've felt better. I mean I've still had nausea but it's been much more manageable with regular plain snacks, fruit and ginger & lemon tea. I've heard that pregnacare can make sickness & nausea worse... Could this be the case? Has anyone experienced this?

I'm guna have a good read and catch up with you all tomorrow - hope you're all OK xx

zippityzip · 28/08/2020 06:45

@Sausage1990 Yeah I know a lot of people who the pregnacare tablets have made throw up 😞
The all day nausea is worse than just being sick so I feel your pain. Apparently sea sickness bands can help too you can get them from the chemist.

Cocoblue22 · 28/08/2020 07:56

@zippityzip yeah I found nothing I liked maternity clothes wise from high street stores so I ordered some stuff from Seraphine maternity it's a bit pricey but the clothes are nicer! X

Mococo1 · 28/08/2020 08:01

@Sausage1990 yes defo find the pregnacare tablets can make it worse I think it's the flood of all the vitamins..Well that's my theory anyway!

Although I haven't had crazy nausea it's kicked up a bit and I even graduated to throwing up a little bit yesterday 🤣 it was the best feeling of relief

my parents unexpectedly popped round yday and I had to do a subtle run out of the living room but pretty sure my mum heard me gagging on the way to the loo as she gave me a really loving cuddle like an hour later so think she has her suspicions

How's everyone else doing otherwise?? X

Cocoblue22 · 28/08/2020 08:02

@Amy00 ooh the house sounds great (well when you've done the work I mean) yeah I'd get that building work done ASAP much easier to stop in hotel/with parents/friends etc before baby is born and deffo put a bathroom upstairs but a downstairs toilet is a lifesaver too with little ones. We have three toilets in our house and I don't think we could do with any less now! X

Hope everyone is good this morning x

zippityzip · 28/08/2020 08:11

@Ltay2 If it makes you feel any better I feel like I'm going to wet myself every half an hour but it's just a trickle. And I've already got to lean forward to properly get all the wee out. You will get strange sensations because you're uterus is currently on top of your bladder and getting bigger every day. In the second trimester it'll move up and you'll get some slight relief before the 3rd trimester.

blodyn91 · 28/08/2020 08:13

@Cocoblue22 seraphine popped up on my insta! I've had a look, really want dungarees 😊 Not sure when I'll maternity clothes yet so will wait till my jeans don't fit.
@Sausage1990 yes they were making me feel Ill, now they don't. So re started taking them.
I can't stop caughing today 😳😳 does that mean I need to get tested for corona?

Amy00 · 28/08/2020 11:46

@Ltay2 how are you feeling this morning? I had a UTI last year and it was so painful, I felt like I was desperate to pee like properly bursting all the time which was painful in my stomach, but there was no pee to pee out! Drinking loads of water helps to flush it out and antibiotics will properly sort it - right thing to do getting tested!

@samilicious I've not started looking at maternity stuff yet but those photos look nice! I did think I was starting to show the other day as couldn't get my jeans done up but pretty sure it was just back to back curry bloat!!!

We had a structural engineer come round yesterday to say whether he thought our plans were feasible - and they are! 🥳 obviously depends on how much it will all cost but fingers crossed we have enough saved. Downside is he confirmed we will need planning permission for the upstairs extension and although he said we wouldn't have any issues getting it approved, the current wait is 4 months once plans are submitted. He suggested even if we crack on now the architect wouldn't have plans ready to submit until like October, so looking like February earliest until we could start the work.

I'm totally going to be looking after a newborn in a construction site 🙈
Had a massive wobble last night with OH and convinced myself we've bought the wrong house! Went to bed at 8pm and feel SO much better today!

Also just had my booking appointment with the midwife on the phone, it was initially supposed to be at the GP in person but apparently 3 babies are being born right now so they are short of staff! I just tried to book to have my bloods taken with the nurse, but they said there is a 4 week wait for an appointment and I'm better off going to a new drive through service?! Has anyone else been told to go to drive though bloods?!

Amy00 · 28/08/2020 11:54

@blodyn91 that book looks interesting, I might get it, the only exercise I've been doing is walking and yoga. I can recommend the Downdog app for anyone interested, there's a special prenatal pregnancy yoga app and I've found it really good. You get a 7 day free trial to see then it costs £30 - now I've paid I'm more likely to use it!

@Sausage1990 I've been taking pregnacare and the midwife mentioned it to me this morning that it is a good one to take, but that it can make some people feel more nauseous. Maybe just stick with the folic and D for a few days then try again?

@Mococo1 aw your mum totally knows! When are you planning on telling her?

@blodyn91 if it's a new "continuous" cough maybe best to get checked just in case?? Do you have a temp and/or strange sense of taste/smell? I'm sure it's just a random tickley throat but you never know these days!
