@SmileyT Hahaha I actually enjoy ironing I find it relaxing when I eventually force myself to do it, it's been building up for a few weeks now with the weather being nice I couldn't face it! I put a good series or movie on my laptop and just stand there for a couple hours. I am one of these weirdos who irons pretty much everything though, including bedding and pillowcases 🙈 I also use the ironing time to de-cat the clothes so that's the main reason really! I've given up now the heat was making the nausea worse 🤢

blodyn91 · 20/08/2020 17:52

I didn't realise people kept journals.... I would acctually quite enjoy that.
'Wednesday 19th of August- another bike race with my orange seed. Smashed out a new PB. We make a great team- is it cheating if you have two hearts pumping away? 🤔'

@Mococo1 yes keep positive. That happy birth book is rally good so far. Although makes me want a private midwife 🙈 anybody on here not planning on going through NHS? I don't think I can afford not to, just curious.

@SmileyT You get up so early no surprise you're in bed so early! Im also 1/2 wfh so can roll out at 8:30 if I've had a late night

Sausage1990 · 20/08/2020 18:06

@MrsEmilyB oh cool what journal have you got? I'm thinking about getting a structured one with prompts by Clemmie Hooper (how to grow a baby journal). Well @SmileyT I think the structure and prompts will be good because then I don't have to worry about trying to be creative so if I go for it I'll let you know if it's any good.

@blodyn91 haha yes exactly why I thought a journal would be nice. I wrote down all about my experience this last week and I'm looking forward to documenting symptoms and body changes but with a journal you can add scan photos and bump photos and stuff too... Might be nice to look back on. X

Sausage1990 · 20/08/2020 18:10

@blodyn91 also yes I think it would be good to not have to do NHS care but also £££ and its not something I could afford. That being said I know lots of people who've had great experience with the NHS care & I know a few midwives through my job and they're just gorgeous people.

Has anyone listened to the podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby by Giovanna Fletcher? I've been listening to it for years because I love her but if you havnt have a listen. It's all about different peoples experiences of pregnancy, birth, motherhood etc. Mostly people in the public eyes like Emma Willis, rochelle humes, ferne cotton, davina mccall... Really worth a listen 💕

blodyn91 · 20/08/2020 18:11

@Sausage1990 yes and how you revealed to your parents etc I think it sounds like a lovely thing to do! So easy to forget things.

MrsEmilyB · 20/08/2020 18:13

@SmileyT omg 19 weeks! You're very self controlled - I don't think I could hold it in that long, 😂😍 they'll be ecstatic I'm sure

@Mococo1 Aww now I want a doppler ❤️❤️❤️

@blodyn91 can we still cycle? I'm not a cyclist per se but my husband and I do enjoy getting out on a cross country ride once a week or so.

@Sausage1990 - just a cheapy! I'll link it below. It says it has prompts which I need too because I'm the least creative person. It's called "Preggers" 😂😂

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1700812378/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_V8QpFbFDKBWN9?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

MrsEmilyB · 20/08/2020 18:14

What vits / tablets are you still taking ladies? 🤔🤔 Not sure if I'm taking too many / too little?

Ltay2 · 20/08/2020 18:27

@blodyn91 Your journal entry would be far more productive than my 'not even got dressed today' entry 😂

@Sausage1990 Ooo I will have a listen to the podcast, I like her too.

@MrsEmilyB I am just taking Vitamin D and Folic Acid that is recommended by NHS, but have also kept taking the Zita West VitalDHA that I was taking whilst TTC as it's safe in pregnancy and can have benefits. The only TTC one I have stopped is the COQ10 as I read that you shouldn't take that once pregnant (or perhaps not at the dose I was, but it was expensive anyway so stopped altogether).

Ltay2 · 20/08/2020 18:30

I hate how my nausea only gets really bad when I'm hungry 😂 currently waiting for some boring beige frozen food to cook in the oven (just what I fancied and can't face anything with heavy flavours 🤢) and I know it will help once I've eaten it but the smell is making me feel worse, such a vicious cycle 🤦🏼‍♀️ the thought of cooking OH chilli later is making me feel sick already!

SmileyT · 20/08/2020 18:33

@blodyn91 haha I love that entry 😂 I would love to go private, a friend in Aus did and honestly seemed like a bloody dream... but I can just about justify a few extra scans definitely not the full whack private.

@Sausage1990 ooh I've just had a little look on amazon and seen a bump to birthday one... annoying you can't see all the pages and prompts online but cba to actually walk round a shop and look so think I'll order it. We currently have about 20 scan pictures so will have to pick my fave pic of the blob 🙈

@MrsEmilyB haha I know it seems like ages but my mum is a tad dramatic and just think she'll be a lot when I tell her so 5months is plenty of time for her to worry about me and it will be just after we find out the gender so will be lovely to give them a surprise, she actually said to me the other day 'I'm never getting a granddaughter am I? 😂 I'm just down to folic and vit D now, so many bloody supplements just sat on the shelf 🙈

@Ltay2 I can actually imagine ironing being quite relaxing but I'm too lazy, although I may completely change when bub arrives x

OP posts:
SmileyT · 20/08/2020 18:35

@Ltay2 and yes to the hunger causing nausea, been fine all day but waiting for dinner and I feel like I'm going to be sick 😩

OP posts:
Sausage1990 · 20/08/2020 18:54

@Ltay2 oh I'm glad I'm not one with food aversion. Nothing sounds good. And all I can stomach is beige... Although I did just have peas & sweetcorn which was actually really nice. The only thing I seem to fancy are ready salted pringles. I don't really have any nausea tho, just feel a bit bleh and off my food completely. But once I'm eating it I'm fine.

@SmileyT yeah I agree I wish you could see more pages or at least tells you what week it starts from so you know when to purchase it by. I agree that I definitely couldn't wait that long to tell my parents but I do understand why if she's going to be too much for you. Ahhh it would be nice to share the gender at the same time 💕

@MrsEmilyB I'm taking 5mg folic acid from the GP until 12-14 weeks and my pregnacare preconception vitamins until they've run out then I'll probably swap to the normal pregnacare. Keep it simple 😊

Ltay2 · 20/08/2020 19:34

@Sausage1990 I have been eating ready salted pringles too! I'm not too bad with food if I don't allow myself to get really hungry. The only thing I seem to have gone off is cups of tea, the warm milk I just don't like. Cold milk is fine like in cereal. I love fruit at the minute too so hopefully getting some nutrients in me still! Luckily I haven't actually been sick so I'm grateful for that! Currently cooking chilli for OH for when he gets home from work later and the mince cooking is just 🤢🤢

Sausage1990 · 20/08/2020 19:41

@Ltay2 haha snap with the pringles. It's honestly not something I usually eat but right now it's sitting really nicely. I can have tea but I now much prefer it with 1tsp of sugar which is wierd because I've never taken sugar. Oh in kinda envious of you eating fruit & stuff... I think if I ate it I'd be fine but I just can't face anything. No nausea or sickness either. Just so many aversions, just reading the words cereal makes me feel 🤢 so wierd... Oh god yes cooking smells aren't good. My sense of smell is really strong right now too. If possible just got DH to fend for himself or do a big batch and freezer it all so you can just defrost some nights rather than cooking too much. Remind me how may weeks you are now? Xx

Ltay2 · 20/08/2020 19:51

@Sausage1990 Strange isn't it! I've managed to cook it now so it's sorted and it will do him for at least 3 meals so it'll be ok for a while! Just speaking about fruit made me want some so just made myself a big bowl of chopped fruits 😂 I am 6+4 today just trying to remember it's only 2 weeks til my scan once we get to this weekend so hopefully that will stop me booking another early one now.

blodyn91 · 20/08/2020 21:25

@MrsEmilyB Im taking the pregcare ones. Once packet is finished will swap to boots own brand of folic acid I think.
And yes cycling is totally fine! I do a lot of miles and hoping to keep it up over the next month. Once I start showing a bump/2nd trimester Ill stop cycling outdoors and go on my indoor trainer just for safety reason with stupid drivers. I'm also planning on swimming all the way through. Running is a bit difficult atm because my boobs are so sore 🙈
@Ltay2 I took those DHA ones the month I got my BFP! Haven't taken them since. Should really. And trust me, my journal would also include days where going downstairs was an accomplishment 😆
Im exhausted tonight, had the tiniest dinner as well. 6 weeks tomorrow so thing HCG are ramping up.

Mococo1 · 20/08/2020 21:53

@MrsEmilyB I'm on pregnacare max (it was £20 a tub- 3 4 2 but so overpriced!)

Only have them as I sent DH out to get them with my last pregnancy - I never used them as was finishing preconception vits and then had a mc so I have 3 months worth to get though then I'll switch to normal pregnacare I think!

My positive day has now turned into a very anxious day😩😩. Had Zero symptoms today and not even tired! Hoping tomo is better xx

Sausage1990 · 20/08/2020 23:28

@Mococo1 does the symptoms coming and going worry you because of your loss? I'm sure intermittent symptoms is okay... Well I hope so because I don't have many.
Well except today I feel like I've been hit my a brick wall of exhaustion.

And I'm up late because I was finishing off some face masks I've been putting of finishing but they need to be posted tomorrow 😩 so it was a later night than I had planned. Thank god I'm not back in work yet (I'm guna have the shock of my life when I do go back next month). Night girls xx

Mococo1 · 21/08/2020 07:17

@Sausage1990 yeh it's normal to have intermittent/no symptoms! The symptoms seem to reassure me and keep me sane! I've had two losses so unfortunately anything seems to tip me off atm lol..not long to wait till my next scan so fingers crossed 🤞🏽 x

Morning everyone hope you're all okay!!xx

SmileyT · 21/08/2020 07:36

@Mococo1 definitely not long to wait until your next scan and hopefully that will give you some reassurance. Strangely as I get closer to scans I find more sets off my anxiety as I know I'll have an answer soon 🤷🏾‍♀️

@Sausage1990 do you sell face masks? That's really interesting 🥰 think I'll just buy one and then I'll start writing in it when I get to my scan next week but might give me ideas of things to keep notes of, I'll show you the pages when it arrives x

@Ltay2 went to my friends house the other day and she gave me a chopped bowl of berries and it was so satisfying, need to stock more at home 🤤

@SmileyT can you add me as EDD 14th April. No scan dates yet though 😊

LittleRa · 21/08/2020 08:57

Great list @SmileyT 💕

Going by my own dates I think EDD is 19th March so right next to you! But by midwife’s dates it’s more like 13th March (way too early to name due to long cycles!) so will see what’s said at scan.

I’m taking the pregnacare max vitamins and omega 3.

I’m also on the beige food 😬 yesterday I had toast for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and a sandwich for tea... I do fancy making some nice salads and meals though.

I texted my Head teacher to say could I ring her at some point but she replied to say she’s away with family and she’ll ring me next weekend. I want to tell her about scan being on first day back (which is a teacher training day) which is the Tuesday so I feel like the weekend is a bit short notice to tell her but that’s what she’s asked for and I do get she’s on holiday.

Mococo1 · 21/08/2020 09:41

@LittleRa you've done all you can and contacted her ahead of time so it's not your fault and she'll understand espesh as you did try to contact you earlier

@SmileyT thanks for the list ♥️ and yeh I think so too- I'm sure psychologically when I assume the worst my symptoms go as a coping mechanism in case of any bad news lol. If all goes well on Sunday we'll defo be booking in another scan before nhs one lol

Think I may purchase a book after Sunday so once yours get delivered if anyone wants to share any pics of the inside 😂 please

FairyLights2 · 21/08/2020 10:18

@SmileyT thanks for adding me to the list ❤️ I'm still waiting to receive my dating scan appointment but I expect it to me early-mid September.

Ladies, I just want your opinion on something. I told one of my close friends that I'm pregnant. She was really happy for me. But then she suggested that I follow an IG page called: pregnant then screwed.

It's for women who essentially have been screwed after revealing they're pregnant and there are a lot of horror stories there. I'm really confused that (a) she's following this page when she isn't pregnant and (b) why she'd recommend this page to me when I have a secure job. Would you consider this normal? I hate assuming things, so I did ask her and she told me that she found it fascinating.

Perhaps her desire was simply to become more well-informed on the topic. I'm just a little shocked because it just wouldn't be the first thing I would suggest to a friend who is pregnant for the first time - especially if I'm aware that said friend can easily become anxious.

On the other hand, my midwife recommended I follow a page called: the positive birthing company. I love that page! It's super positive and I feel much better scrolling through it. While I don't think my friend had any bad intentions, I'm just left feeling perplexed. I guess I'm wondering if this is a 'normal' thing to bring up?

Sorry for the long rant.
