@fairylights2 that is such an odd suggestion from a friend... Maybe she just didn't think it through. Also some people don't know how to respond to pregnancy announcements etc so this could jusg be her way. But is definitely wierd. I wouldn't follow them, you don't want that negative energy. The positive birth company is such a good one to follow as is "the yes mum project".

@SmileyT I sort of sell masks. I've been making them while I've been off work and I sold them to friends & close family at cost just so I wasnt put if pocket but I've sold a few now through friends for £4 each. They're 3 layer reusable & reversible ones. I definitely couldn't ever do it as a business but when I've made some I offer those as options. They're so expensive to buy off Etsy etc. My current favourite is a mini strawberry print fabric with a fine pink & white gingham on the back 🍓

LittleRa · 21/08/2020 11:15

@FairyLights2 I wouldn’t take it in a negative way. Pregnant Then Screwed is quite a well known activism page, protecting the rights of women and working mothers. If your friend doesn’t have children, she may not have heard of pages such as The Positive Birth Co because obviously that’s particularly related to labour and giving birth etc whereas she may have heard of Pregnant Then Screwed in the press as protecting working mums so it’s in her frame of reference. Only you know your friend and her personality etc but if she isn’t usually the snidey type I’d take it as a positive recommendation as you say to become well-informed on the topic.

SmileyT · 21/08/2020 12:46

@FairyLights2 I think as others said it kinda depends how you think she meant it, I had a quick look and looks like an informative page. I believe that knowledge is power so reading about real issues can actually help some of my anxieties and struggles of working mums are probably something that will affect everyone at some point, but if it's not for you just don't follow it ☺️

@LittleRa yeah I think as you've tried to contact her there isn't much you can do, unless you just message saying you've got an appt on that day you can't move but will explain further on the phone x

@Sausage1990 I don't know why I thought you meant like a clay face mask, but makes more sense that the protective type ☺️

@Sausage1990 @LittleRa @SmileyT I do believe she had good intentions. I was just really taken back and was curious if this was something pretty normal to mention. I had never heard of them before and it certainly wouldn't be the first thing I think of when someone announces their pregnancy. But she definitely is the type that loves to be well-informed and I'm sure she just wanted to provide me with more information.

Thanks for your input ladies x

LittleRa · 21/08/2020 13:13

@FairyLights2 If she’s not usually the dodgy type then I’d chalk it up to her trying to help, if she doesn’t have kids then she might not have much of a frame of reference for things to recommend. It’s great you’re in a secure job but you never know what can happen in the future (totally not saying anything will happen!!) but Pregnant Then Screwed can offer advice on things like say you want to return to work part time but you get your request denied, or your child is sick and you need a longer period of parental absence than your work policy gives, or say you return from mat leave to find another childless colleague with less experience than you has received a promotion you wanted. As they say, forewarned is forearmed. However, definitely agree that none of us need negative vibes and if it’s not for you like @SmileyT just don’t follow and if your friend is usually a good one just smile and nod and thank her for the recommendation. Then if/when she does have her own kids you’ll have so many more good recommendations for her such as the Positive Birth Co etc Smile

FairyLights2 · 21/08/2020 13:19

@LittleRa I love that! Thank you for putting it into perspective for me :) x

LittleRa · 21/08/2020 13:39

@FairyLights2 I’m a total over-thinker too and am always reading stuff into situations 😂 So I know where you’re coming from, plus add a few pregnancy hormones in the mix and your head’s spinning!

Mococo1 · 21/08/2020 14:35

@FairyLights2 totally agree I think it's probs something she follows and she's thought oh you're pregnant let me suggest (something relatable to you) and suggested you follow without realising the context that it could actually can be off putting for a pregnant woman to be following it!

I've realised when people haven't had/aren't trying to have children they can do funny things that can come across/seem really insensitive purely because they haven't thought if they were in that situation so we have to give them a little leeway sometimes

@Sausage1990 I totally thought clay masks too was gna ask you for the link so I could get my pamper on and support 😂! It's really nice you are doing protective masks on the side though 😬

MrsEmilyB · 21/08/2020 14:39

Hi lovely ladies 🤍🤍 how are you all doing today? I was feeling a bit nauseous for a couple of hours earlier but now I'm feeling A-OK aside from some intermittent back cramps. Trying to get used to the idea of symptoms coming and going, and reading all your comments has been wonderful to know it's not just me!

Thank you also for your advice about tablets! I think I'm probably overdoing it (me?? Never!! 😂😂) so going to cut down to just my PregnaPlan (they're prenatal right through to after breastfeeding) plus omega 3 and some b6/12 if needed.

Haven't tested since Wednesday - is this line progression okay? It's 13, 14 and 16dpo in that order 🤞🏻😊 my clearblues came today but gonna wait til after the weekend for that.

blodyn91 · 21/08/2020 14:55

@mrsEmilyB lovely progression 🙌

Before TTC I was definitely that person that said /recommend inappropriate things to my pregnant friends 🙈

Pregnancyworkout on IG is good as a fitness page, just easy at home workouts to do

MrsEmilyB · 21/08/2020 14:59

@blodyn91 - runs off to follow 😂

Totally TMI question ladies, but can i have sex at this stage? I'm 4+2 (or in reality, 16dpo). Will be bump baby out?? 😂😂 I'm proper up for it today hahaha

Sausage1990 · 21/08/2020 15:11

@Mococo1 haha sorry its not clay masks, I could do with a clay mask right now tbh because I've had a horrible breakout this week of the most painful spots. Protective masks but a little chic than the disposable ones 😷😉

@MrsEmilyB that's lovely progression 😊 great to see that lube get darker. I had a 3+ on my final clearblue this morning so I'm pleased with that at 5+5. Yes I think it's fine to have sex at any point in pregnancy, your cervix is closed so nothing will hurt baby... The only thing I've heard is you can get cramping post orgasm but that's due to uterine contractions that happen but aren't dangerous just maybe uncomfortable. But otherwise I don't see any harm... If you're feeling it then go for it 😘

I've also just had a video meeting with my boss & I'm officially going back to work on the 15th of September for my phased return 😊 I'm glad I took this time off to deal with my anxiety and burnout because it's helped me get my priorities & boundaries straight... But I am quite looking forward to getting back to it (slowly & steadily). I'm definitely going to wait until the 12 weeks scan before telling her about the pregnancy tho. She will be happy for me but i'm still nervous.xx

Sausage1990 · 21/08/2020 15:12

Haha sorry @MrsEmilyB it's great to see that's LINE get darker... Not lube 😂

MrsEmilyB · 21/08/2020 15:23

😂 😂 @Sausage1990 I know what's on your mind today 😂😂😂 hoops and rings all over again!! Just went up and took another pic as obviously the first 2 are dry, and now this morning's one is too. Still okay? Looking forward to getting 3+ on the clearblues! So happy you got yours 🎉🎉 sounds like work are being good now too. I've got some annual leave from 27th til 7th September and I SO NEED IT. We are renovating our garden so I need some time!!

Madz123 · 21/08/2020 15:27

So had an early scan today- measured at 6w3d so EDD 13/4 saw a small flicker of the heartbeat! They want me to go back in a few weeks for a free rescan as they couldn't really see much however not sure how we're going to do this as we're 3 hours away from home at the moment staying with the in-laws! 🙈🤷‍♀️

blodyn91 · 21/08/2020 16:19

@MrsEmilyB We chatted about how we were all re born virgins before you joined I think 😂 Think we have all crossed that line now, so understand how nerving it is 🙈 We've only dtd twice since my BFP (blame OH for being ill all of last weekend though 😫), think he made a move on me yesterday morning for the first time since we started this ttc journey. Think hes glad it took a few months for the BFP as he got to enjoy a lot of sex and seduction 🙈

@Sausage1990 omg my spots are so painful! I have like 5. I never have spots. Even told OH this morning I've never been this ugly in my life. He quickly told me thats not true bless him

Mococo1 · 21/08/2020 17:52

@blodyn91 OH probs thinks you are the most beaut thing right now!

I'm getting cheek spots? Thought I'd get nice clear skin during pregnancy as no periods spots but I'm as ugly as ever 😫 mine always leave dark marks and I can't use my cream to lighten them as it's defo not safe for pregnancy! 😭

@Madz123yay to a heartbeat and trust me you will back in a few weeks for a free scan I just know you will! It's far too tempting!

blodyn91 · 21/08/2020 17:55

@Mococo1 yes on my cheek!!! And just not going away!

MrsEmilyB · 21/08/2020 17:57

@Sausage1990 @blodyn91 @Mococo1 omg me too with the spots! I generally have pretty clear skin but I've got super sore ones! One on my forehead and 2 on my cheek!

The horny feeling has gone, just in time for DH to finish work 😩😩

Mococo1 · 21/08/2020 18:34

@blodyn91 @MrsEmilyB yes your right! They are lingering around for longer as well

I'm wanting it too 😫 DH has got very lengthy root canals on two teeth tomo so has been constantly in pain - he's still trying it on but we can't kiss so It feels really weird started getting into it and i touched his cheek accidentally so felt really bad! he has a shoulder op next week so I have no chance of getting any in the next couple of weeks ☹️ ahh the fun days of ttc seem like a thing of the past

MrsEmilyB · 21/08/2020 18:59

@Mococo1 ahh poor hubby 😢 but at least you're now PG so he's not having to try and do all that AND being in pain. Even if it does mean you're left to your own devices 😂

@Madz123 amazing about your scan 🤩🤩🤩 seeing a little heartbeat must be the best!

Cocoblue22 · 21/08/2020 19:45

Sorry I've been a bit MiA the last few days been busy taking DS on some days out and trying to sort lots of stuff out also so having a big catch up tonight along with a warm not hot bath (yes I'm still worrying about baths) and then going to make myself some nachos.....so here I go catching up since Wednesday 👀......

@Sausage1990 glad you feel more reassured now x

@blodyn91 glad you got the happy birth book I found it quite good in my last pregnancy x

@zippityzip that farm day sounds perfect and I agree sod the housework no matter how much you get done there's always more that needs doing x

@LittleRa I was wondering how your scan was ahead of mine but makes sense since they didn't take into account your cycle length 🙄 mines on 2nd sept and I've just booked a gender scan for 3rd oct. I didn't have an early scan with my DS last time and all was fine try not to worry it really makes no difference no matter how many scans we do or don't have so try not to overthink it I'm sure you're little bean is doing great in there :) I also had the 9+5 one so DH could come like @Mococo1 said. T shirt sounds cute she will be excited we did the t shirt with DS but since he's 2 he's none the wiser really x

@Mustbemad82 sorry to hear your news 😢 big hugs hope you're okay x

@MrsEmilyB ive had shooting boob pain and vag pain too I think it's normal mentioned it to my midwife and she said there will be lots of aches and pains I can't remember from my last pregnancy x

Posting so I don't lose it all then will continue....

Mustbemad82 · 21/08/2020 19:54

Hey ladies
I’ve loved reading and catching up with what’s been going on . I’ve had a google or too at the convo too

Had my bloods drawn again yesterday - my hcg has risen by 113%
I was called in by the consultant and re scanned
She said she could see something but couldn’t t class it as a sac and so could not confirm a pregnancy
Still called a pregnancy of unknown location

She is going to scan in a week
As my levels have doubled she said she cannot rule out ectopic
It’s likely to be a non viable pregnancy but she said it could still be too early (my implantation bleeding was only 7 days ago)

It’s been a rollercoaster
If it’s non viable then I’ll be more relieved than if it’s ectopic

Obviously my hope is that it’s too soon and too small to see anything

Who knows

Keep everything crossed for me

Mococo1 · 21/08/2020 21:11

@Mustbemad82 I'm hoping you are just extremely extremely early- any idea how far along you could be (like what's the minimum in your brain that you could be?) funny they've seen something today and couldn't the other day! Might just be a case of being too too early

Also I'm sorry you are having to go through such a rollercoaster☹️ Fingers crossed it's not ectopic or non-viable pregnancy- hopefully you have a viable little bub somewhere in there just playing hide and seek

Do you have anything exciting planned this week? All I can suggest is take it easy on yourself and try to keep yourself busy over the next seven days if you can! Xxxx

SmileyT · 22/08/2020 07:37

@MrsEmilyB line progression looks good ☺️ and yes definitely have sex if you want to, there is no evidence that it's dangerous and I just thought about it in the way of most NHS doctors will recommend not tracking and just having sex regularly through cycle and I don't think they'd do that if it was dangerous for implantation/ early pregnancy. Also remember as you get a bigger bump it may be less comfortable, then you have the post birth time so you may be doing months without sex in the not so distant future so enjoy it while you can 😉

@Sausage1990 15th September that's still a lovely bit of time off left 🙌🏾 make sure your really relax and get all your coping strategies for work sorted/ practiced before you head back in. Also my skin is horrendous right now, no big spots but just little tiny ones over my forehead and cheeks 😩 my skin is normally really clear, like I don't think I've worn make up this year, if it continues into 2nd trimester may have to purchase some concealer 😂

@Madz123 congrats on your scan 🥳 I love a scan but 3hrs is probably even a push for me, is it a chain where you could visit a local one? so many of you due around my sisters birthday (12th April) so that means babies will have loads of birthdays when their birthdays fall on Easter 🐣

@Cocoblue22 hi 👋 glad you're all good, not long til you're scan, so exciting x

@Mustbemad82 ahh really feel for you in this limbo, I think at my local EPU they won't even scan until 4weeks after ovulation for this exact reason that they can't give any conclusive results. Next week you'll be a week further on, and with hcg still rising hopefully they can give you some answers xx
