Yay @Pugprincess so glad baby has caught up and all looking well! I have signed the petition - I’m very much hoping that at all of us will be able to have our partners with us at birth and also hoping that others who went through what we did with MC don’t have to go alone to those scans.

bubblybon20 · 06/09/2020 20:06

Feel so pants, we went over to DHs dads house earlier with the boys, first time we've all seen him since feb. I put a pair of super high waisted jeans on hoping they'll be comfortable enough as they was right at the top top of my belly, instead I felt like my whole insides were squished! I do hope baby is ok, of course I know it will be. Just wish I thought my outfit choice through as it was horrible!!

We are not telling anyone until the 26th when we find out what we're having, So I was hoping to keep everything hidden until then, and that he'll just think I've got fat during lockdown 🤣

Sansa87 · 06/09/2020 20:12

Sorry for the tmi and possible trigger? Please report if this makes anyone uncomfortable but I’m sat on bathroom floor crying.

I am in a bit of pain, nothing severe that would make me want to call 111, but still more than I’d expect to be. Had a little brown spotting, just had a wee and had this.

I know red blood is the worry, but I just feel something isn’t right.

Last time I felt the same and the nurse called me a hypochondriac (in a jokey manner) but I turned out right. That started as thick brown discharge though, and in the end I needed surgery as it never got going. This is very watery, but the pain is stronger.

I’m thinking of calling EPU in the morning, but I had the experience of having the deal with that on my own due to covid in July, & I don’t want to do it again on my own. Also we are going away tomorrow lunch time. Still in this country, so easy to get medical help, but I desperately need this holiday

@Sansa87 I'm pretty sure @Pugprincess had very similar to yourself around the same sort of weeks! Hopefully it's just implantation bleed! Try not to worry, but if it continues or ends up bright red, I would call the EPU first thing.

Sansa87 · 06/09/2020 20:31

@bubblybon20 thanks for responding. I think the fact that is also the cramps too is what is making me so worried. If it was just brown, I could’ve put it down to left over blood from the surgical management or something, but the cramps are pretty bad now.

My implantation cramps were horrendous tbough. I never felt them first pregnancy, but this one, we had to leave town because it was so bad and I thought I was going to pass out and/or bleed everywhere, it really felt like a bad period was coming

Pugprincess · 06/09/2020 21:10

Thanks @Poppy10121 I hope they change the rules 🤞🏻 @Sansa87 aw I know how you feel it’s horrible, I had brown discharge during weeks 4 and 5. Only time will tell unfortunately as they wouldn’t see me at hospital until 6 weeks 😔 rest up if you can and take each hour and day as it comes. I hope it will all be ok for you xxx

ew1990 · 06/09/2020 22:14

@sansa that's what my blood looked like at 9 week but there was loads of it. I felt it gush as I stood up. Brown blood is old blood and I know people can get it around when there period would be due.

@pugprincess yay to the scan!!

@skyblue20 not long for you now!

@bubblybon20 it's been leggings all the way for me.

I know this sounds crazy but I'm 99% sure I felt some movement today. Like a flutter just underneath my belly button. Made me jump and feels just like the early ones with DD. I'm not expecting it again for a few weeks though. I'm so tired today. 12 hours at work and now just finally relaxing so gonna get in bed and hope for a good sleep 😴

Pugprincess · 06/09/2020 22:26

@SmileyT good luck for your scan tomorrow xx

Is anyone else having scans this week? X

Smilingdonkey · 06/09/2020 22:37

@sansa87 try not to panic. Spotting is so common as are cramps. Did you have sex recently? That is also a common cause. if you still have it tomorrow call your local maternity helpline .. if you can't find the number online the hospital switch board should be able to put you through. You can speak to a midwife who will reassure you and offer advice xxxxx

SkyBlue20 · 06/09/2020 22:56

Thanks @Lrr31, fingers crossed for yours, too! Lots of rest sounds like a plan. I also found, after my bleed, somewhere in the depths of Google, that making sure your legs are elevated is recommended. Probably a load of rubbish but worth a go while you’re having a lie down!

@Lu93 @Pugprincess I read that article and signed that petition earlier - something really does need doing about it. There’s a campaign on social media called #butnotmaternity linked to the petition, too. I spent an age reading through the tweets linked to the hashtag, there are some awful stories out there. My MMC was right at the start of lockdown (literally the week after it started) so I kind of understand having to be on my own, as hard as it was, and can almost forgive all of the delays I encountered, but it must be such a kick in the teeth to people going through similar, giving birth or missing out on having their partners at scans now (including some of you lovely ladies!) when you can do basically anything else you want, but you can’t have your partner there for some of the most important moments of yours and your new baby’s life. Once again, it’s clear that the country is being run by men 🙄

@SmileyT Apologies if you’ve already said but what time is your scan tomorrow? Good luck!!

@bubblybon20 I’m sure baby is fine - you probably suffered more than he or she did. My high waisted jeans are a definite no nowadays, in fact I have very few pairs of jeans left that still fit.

@Sansa87 It could absolutely be nothing but I 100% understand the panic. See how you get in tonight and maybe do call the EPU in the morning so you can know what’s what before you go away. Like others have said, brown blood is old blood so hopefully it’s nothing. Big hand hold xx

@ew1990 Exciting about the flutter! Hope it’s not too long until they become regular occurrences!

@PugPrincess Meeeee 🤚🏼 my scan is Wednesday morning.

Bedtime! Sleep well ladies, here’s to calm, happy dreams tonight and no more terrorist attacks or exploding treadmills 🙈😂 xx

bubblybon20 · 07/09/2020 08:03

@SmileyT good luck for you scan this morning :)

MoltenLasagne · 07/09/2020 08:32

Morning everyone, hope you don't mind if I join you? I had a mmc back in May after TTC for 2 years and have discovered I'm around 5 weeks pregnant now. Was pretty amazed that it happened so quickly this time round tbh.

I'm thinking of booking a private scan in a few weeks time as don't think I can stand waiting until the 12 week scan.

Poppy10121 · 07/09/2020 08:46

@Sansa87 sorry you are having this worry, like you said brown blood is old so it’s probably nothing to worry about. I totally understand your reluctance to revisit EPU (I was the same) but do call them if it will help you put your mind at rest. I found this times visit much less traumatic.

@smileyT good luck for scan day!

@bubblybon20 and @Skyblue20 I’m amazed you are still able to get into jeans! Between lockdown weight gain and the baby bloat I’m all floaty dresses (work) or leggings (home). Just ordered another 2x pairs of leggings cos they’re all I want to wear and I’m superstitious to buy maternity wear yet.

@Moltenlasagne welcome and congratulations! Lots of us here ended up with early scans, 12 weeks is so long to wait!

Had a night of crazy vivid dreams last night and waking up every 3 hours to pee - so exhausted this morning and really glad it’s one of the days I am down to WFH and not the office! I’m already trying to plan a sneaky mid morning nap 😴

SkyBlue20 · 07/09/2020 09:45

Morning all!

Welcome @MoltenLasagne, so sorry for your loss and congrats on your BFP 💕 I think most of us had private scans - it is a long time to wait. I really believe the NHS should do a scan at 8 weeks as well as 12, just to check it's a viable pregnancy, etc!

@Poppy10121 It's very limited jeans - the ones that were a bit big before, and they usually have to be undone by the end of the day 😂 Know what you mean about being too superstitious to buy maternity clothes! Sorry you had a terrible night, hope you manage a nap.

I had THE dream (nightmare) last night, the dream where I was told I'd had a MMC again. It's strange though as my subconscious, in that half asleep, half awake state, was like 'NO I HAVEN'T!' - it was like I was arguing with myself. I guess that's the scanxiety coming through then...

MoltenLasagne · 07/09/2020 10:40

Thanks both - happy to be here but a bit worried! 12 weeks definitely feels like a very long time to wait so I'm glad others are also getting private scans.

Workingmama1 · 07/09/2020 11:06

Morning!

After complaining about feeling awful on Saturday I've felt okayish yesterday and today, was pleased about it yesterday and now a bit worried, its too early for the placenta to take over! On Saturday I managed 5 minutes of ironing before giving up, yesterday I did the whole basket in one go and power walked the nursery drop off!

No crazy dreams last night, just my now oral 5am wake up for a pee and unable to go back to sleep until my alarm went off, when obviously I was instantly too tired to move a muscle and had a 30 minute snooze!

@MoltenLasagne welcome, totally normal to feel anxious, I had an early scan last week, it kept the aniety at bay for a few days, now wishing I'd had it this week when I was furthefr along...

@bubblybon20 I hope you've recovered from wearing jeans! Baby will have been absolutely fine 🙂. I think I've worn jeans appropriately 10 times since lockdown, attempted them the other week when we went out for lunch, big mistake.

On a similar note I'm sure my belly button is starting to pop back out and I'm not OK with that so early!

@lu93 @Pugprincess I aaw that article too, and signed the petition. Its made that now everything has opened up partners can not be there to support and hear news about their babies first hand. I think for most people missing out on a scan is a shame, but not the worst thing, but having to hear bad news on your own is horrendous. And not having partners during induction or after birth is awful too. My hospital is letting partners in for normal scans now, but not at the epu so when I went for mine the other week I was alone. It seems like twisted logic to me as more women will get bad news at an epu scan and so of anyone really needs partners is ladies getting scanned there!

SmileyT · 07/09/2020 11:51

Grr.., hate when you write a post then accidentally click out and lose it all 😤

Anyway good news scan went well, dated me at 13w and due 15th March. I forgot to drink any water beforehand so sonographer said I made it harder for him as bubs wasn't in the right position for measurements but after a lot of probing of my belly we got there. And think my gym sessions paid off last week as the lady taking my blood test felt my arms are then asked what workouts I do as I've got great biceps, made me chuckle 🤭

@SkyBlue20 I feel like I had no sleep last night just couldn't stop thinking how I'd tell DP sat outside the hospital if it was bad news, scanxiety was real but it's just our thoughts not reality 🙌🏾

Workingmama1 · 07/09/2020 12:33

@smileyT whoop another successful scan down! Glad all was looking well.

Sakura54 · 07/09/2020 12:51

Yes! Great news once again. That pic is so clear! @SmileyT

Welcome new ladies. This is a nice little group who all feel the same and who check our tissues whenever we go to the toilet!

@Poppy10121 Lol the last time I wore jeans was weeks ago and it gave me a belly ache after I ate so I haven’t tried since and wear leggings and jeggings. I literally only started wearing leggings when I got pregnant the first time. Usually I wear jeans when I’m out or lounge/jogging bottoms at home.

@Sansa87 Nothing is TMI here. It’s unfortunate that this has happened the same time you’re going holiday, but as the other ladies have said, brown is old. I think if you can’t relax, it’s best to go get checked out even at a hospital wherever you’re going?

@SkyBlue20 I’ve been conscience of my sleeping position for a while now and have noticed that I prefer my back rather than my side. I can do both though. I read that the third trimester is when it’s a big deal so as long as I still have no bump, I’ll wait until then. I think it’s ok to stay on your back when napping as it’s short. It’s scary to read that you can increase chances of still birth just from the way you sleep isn’t it!?

Your dreams sound so horrible and distressing. It’s the fact they feel so real even when you know you’re dreaming. I know you’ll have a great scan on Wednesday, but good luck!

I agree that nausea can be linked to lack of sleep. I woke before 6am today while still tired, as DS woke early. I was hungry, retched before and after eating and nearly vomited. Had to wait until after I had taken him to nursery to relax. There's no point trying to nap as it'll be time to pick him up again. I need my sleep/rest so its times like these, I wonder how I’m going to survive with another baby. One is hard enough for me hence leaving a big age gap of over 3 years, despite having help from family plus in-laws. Not to mention DH is a totally hands-on dad when he’s not at work.

@Sakura54 I liked your description of us as a group who check our tissues when we go to the toilet Grin

@SmileyT hurray, what a great picture! So impressed you have biceps too!!

I finally had my (surprise) booking in appointment by phone this morning, luckily on a WFH day! They've confirmed that the appointment on 1 October is the scan date, and that I will be able to take my husband along - SO relieved. Only one week til the private scan now so just got to hope things are still going OK in there...

SkyBlue20 · 07/09/2020 13:17

@Workingmama1 I wouldn’t worry too much - symptoms can come and go so see how you are in a couple of days as they’ll likely ramp back up. Know it’s easier said than done though. Sending love. Totally agree on the EPU scans, too - it makes no sense!!

@SmileyT Yay, congratulations!! 🥳 I’m loving all of these positive scans! If my early scans are anything to go by then we’ll be due date buddies ☺️

Thanks, @Sakura54 ☺️ Lack of sleep is definitely linked to feeling worse, I’m sure of it! I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling so rotten 😔 You will absolutely manage two children when baby is here, you’ll just find a system that works for you and soon get in to the swing of it, I’m sure of it. Plus pregnancy is a whole other ball game so at least you won’t be feeling as rough as you do now alongside the tiredness, just maybe a bit sleep deprived 🙈

SkyBlue20 · 07/09/2020 13:18

@Poppy10121 Yay to finally having your booking appt and to being able to take your DH to the scan! Not long until your private one now, sure everything is just perfect ☺️

RosieJess91 · 07/09/2020 17:47

Welcome @MoltenLasagne! Congrats on the new BFP!

Look at that scan @SmileyT! Little nose and everything!!

Still waiting for my scan date, but they made it clear no partners were allowed without permission. Woke up 4 times during the night for a wee, threw up before I could even brush my teeth, and today the only thing I've kept down is a Chicken Tikka Slice! But at least it's something!! Our new bed arrives in the next 2 hours, so I might finally wake without back ache. And for some reason, my nipples are SUPER sensitive today. 10 weeks tomorrow, so too early for milk to come in, surely?!

Pugprincess · 07/09/2020 18:03

Aww @SmileyT beautiful scan pic ❤️ You’re officially in the second trimester too hey 😁

@MoltenLasagne welcome, like you I had a mc after 5 years of ttc in July. Pregnant first cycle ttc again so I was shocked but happy it happened quickly. I’ve had an early scan with the epu and they discharged me so I’ve just had a private one yesterday and booked another for two weeks time. I want to keep my eye on this baby even if epu don’t 😩

Loving the tissue checking and scanxiety-so true! I’m sure I had a weird dream last night but I can’t remember what it was about now 😩 not felt bad today sick wise, had some lightening crotch that stopped me in my tracks though! Anyone else had that yet? Wonder if I will feel sick tomorrow as I think I’ve noticed an every other day pattern emerging, wondering if it coincides with the extra new hormones or something. Very tired from school and we have one kid off from our class who’s relative has tested positive so waiting to hear her test results to know if we need testing 😩 wearing my visor all the time now xx

SkyBlue20 · 07/09/2020 18:19

I just did the old wives' tale wedding ring over my belly test to see what sex we're having and it came out clear girl. Most of the things on this link say girl, too, as does the Chinese gender prediction chart. I know it's all a load of rubbish but all a bit of good fun, hey?!

www.huggies.com/en-us/tips-advice/celebration-planning/gender-prediction/17-old-wives-tales-to-predict-babys-gender

At first I was convinced boy but now I find that very often, when I think of baby, I think of 'her'. I can also really imagine DH in a house full of girls (the cat is female, too). Who knows! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not too long until we'll find out!
