@alessandra27 Oooh, it sounds like you had a great experience! Did you use FDLP to calculate your dates?

BFP2020 · 25/08/2020 12:52

@LeopardLover Yes an internal bit uncomfortable but it was fine.
I'm literally stuffing my face all day so far but trying to be as healthy as I can having some melon now and have soup and brown bread for lunch.

@Chicken123 Yes I thought I was 6 weeks so its a day ahead which is better.

Does anyone know how to figure out conception date?

sarahlou773 · 25/08/2020 13:33

Hi all, due 1st April with my first :D. So far only symptoms are sore boobs and nausea all the time! I'm really excited and cant wait to be able to tell everyone. Does everyone still wait for the 12 week mark?

Chicken123 · 25/08/2020 14:08

@sarahlou773 Congratulations, and Welcome!
It’s completely up to each couple of individual really. There are no rules I’ve learnt.
We are having an early scan on Saturday so will be telling immediate family and our best friends, everyone else at 12 weeks. Do what you want x

BuckleUp · 25/08/2020 14:29

@sarahlou773 Congratulations! I'm only 7+1 today and both sets of parents and siblings already know, as well as a couple of close friends AND my work.. A bit premature but I had to tell work because of their stance regarding pregnancy and Covid-19, and I wanted to tell family before work so 🤷🏼‍♀️. We'll tell friends and external family after the 12 week scan I think. Just do what feels right for you 😊

LeopardLover · 25/08/2020 15:09

Oh guys, my MIL just cooked eggs and I'm close to gagging - food aversion are real! I wanted nausea but maybe not. This is bad enough 😅

@sarahlou77 Welcome! 😊 Like everyone else said, it's just down to personal preference. We've kept it to ourselves for now but I can't see that lasting much longer - I need to talk to at least one best friend. Not sure I could last another 6+ weeks without the extra support!

ARIO · 25/08/2020 16:59

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while. Hope everyone is doing ok. Reading through your messages I can definitely relate to alot of your symptoms. I'm 6+3 today and having waves of mild nausea/mega hunger. Also having tugging and pinching sensations and serious bloating! Oh the joys. I don't remember what it was like for me the first time round at this stage.

Obviously this being 2nd baby for me we have everything we need like a buggy. They are expensive, we actually got a bugaboo chameleon secondhand from Facebook marketplace which has been brilliant but everyone has their own taste.

Last pregnancy I got referred to midwife through my GP but I've had to self refer this time via an online form - did anyone else do this? How long did it take to then hear from a midwife?

Chicken123 · 25/08/2020 17:13

Hi @ARIO
I self referred and got a letter through about a week later and then a call from my midwife not long after that. Got our first early scan on 29th which we’ve paid for and then first midwife appointment on 1st so lots to look forward to x

ARIO · 25/08/2020 17:15

@Chicken123 great thanks for letting me know. How many weeks will you be for your NHS scan?

83Mimi · 25/08/2020 17:26

@Ario this was the question I wanted to ask this group too!

I self referred to hospital midwife a couple of weeks ago and the very next day got a letter and appointments set up. But the first appointment is a phone call week 10 and then scan week 13.

Since then i have been really fretting about not even getting to speak to someone for so long - I am 'older' at 37, its my first and just feeling quite anxious. Having almost no symptoms other than gassy and tired (which at 37 can happen anyway grin Grin) Today i called my GP and just gushed about how i feel and really want to talk to someone - the receptionist was super nice and I have a call with a GP later this week. I wish i had booked in a call with a GP much earlier.

LuckyFlash · 26/08/2020 09:46

I self referred to my closest hospital and after 2 follow up emails and 3 unanswered phone calls I never heard from them. So referred the next closest (and better!) hospital and got a call 2 days later to confirm my booking spot which is over the phone next week. I’ll be 9 weeks then.
I haven’t had a scan date or a date for any blood tests yet though... Hoping I’ll get this at my booking apt.

Everyone seems to be going for early scans and I’m wondering if I should for piece of mind but don’t really want to part with £50 if I don’t have to. Agree that it feels a long tome to wait for anyone to see you or talk to you if you don’t. I guess private places are preying in that fear which is why I think I don’t want to go haha! Has everyone that’s had one felt it was worth the money?

GreySkyClouds · 26/08/2020 10:40

Hi all, just found out I’m 6 weeks pregnant (based on LMP). Late 30s, first pregnancy, and I’m terrified I’m going to have a miscarriage :(

What does it mean when people say 6+2?

And if I’m 6 weeks from my last LMP, do you think I’ll be okay going for an early scan at 8 weeks (or is it really 6 weeks so I won’t see anything?)

BFP2020 · 26/08/2020 11:52

@GreySkyClouds Hey Congratulations I'm 6+1 day so that means 6 weeks since last period and 1 day. I had a scan yesterday and I saw a heartbeat and all it really put me at ease. If you are very anxious book an early scan 8 weeks is better because you will see more. I'm having another one a 9 weeks It is 100 a scan but I don't car because it helps with my anxiety. Smile x

BuckleUp · 26/08/2020 12:12

Just back from my booking appointment, they took bloods and asked me questions about my medical history. I'm 7+2 today and I have my first scan booked on 29th Sept when I'll be 12+1 - it's going to be a long wait! I haven't booked an early scan yet, but I think I'll wait and see if the restrictions on DH joining me are lifted first..

Sorry to hear some of you have struggled getting appointments. How's everyone feeling?

Chicken123 · 26/08/2020 12:19

7 weeks today and my good I haven’t felt this sick since I was about 4 weeks. I had nothing on my bedside table so had to quickly rush to the kitchen to make something which has made me feel only slightly better. I’m taking it as a good sign even though it’s the worst symptom I swear!
Our viability scan on Saturday is £79 at Window to the Womb. All the scans you book at our local one are £79. It’s expensive but I’m so anxious and I know it’ll make both me and my fiancé feel more calm x

Thank you so much for explaining BFP2020! It’s a new language! So pleased that you saw a heartbeat, that’s all I want right now too. Absolutely worth the money for some reassurance.

I’ve just booked a scan for 8+5 so I could get a weekend appointment with my partner (£70). They had one for today but I’m too scared there won’t be a heartbeat, so need my fiancé with me. So annoying putting Miss instead of Mrs because of coronavirus 😂

Worried I’ve messed this up because I didn’t know/was told I couldn’t get pregnant due to a medical condition.

BFP2020 · 26/08/2020 12:50

@GreySkyClouds Be positive and try stop worrying. Have you done a Clearblue Digital? Did you only just find out today? x

You’re so kind. I really appreciate it because I haven’t told anyone IRL in case there’s a problem. Are you doing the same because of your fertility challenges?

Found out Saturday morning. Did 4 stick tests from eBay, then went to Boots and got their own brand one. I genuinely thought it was going to be negative (we’ve been trying on and off for nearly 2 years with no help, and only found out what was wrong 2 months ago) so I didn’t buy a proper branded one. Then I checked again everyday, but today is the first day I haven’t because I feel really queasy so something’s happening.

BFP2020 · 26/08/2020 13:30

@GreySkyClouds I have told both our parents and my boss in work. I won't tell anyone else until the 12 week scan.
What did they find out what wrong? (it's ok if you don't want to tell me)
The Clearblue digital with weeks indicator is the test to get it will show you how many weeks. It should say either 2-3 or 3 weeks + now. It will really put you at ease it mean the HCG level is rising which is good.
At 3+6 mine was 1-2 weeks, At 4+5 mine said 2-3 weeks and at 5+2 it said 3+.

If you are queasy its a good sign. What date was your last period?

JoesM12 · 26/08/2020 17:34

I have found out today that my husband will be allowed to attend all nhs scans with me😊
Such a huge relief!! We have a private one booked for this Friday, I'll be 7+5 I'm very excited but also nervous because I still don't believe I'm pregnant!! Even though the nausea, bloat and tiredness tell me otherwise!

I hope everyone else's hospitals are following suit and allowing partners!

GreySkyClouds · 26/08/2020 17:59

@BFP2020 it’s something I can take medication for, and that medication is what has corrected my fertility sooner than expected. I’ve had to stop it now I’m pregnant, and that’s partly why I’m worried because I just found out. Last period was 13 July.

I don’t have parents anymore unfortunately; really want to tell my fiancé’s, but don’t want them to get too excited. Think I’ll have to tell my boss sooner than I wanted as returning to the office soon

Kaityx4 · 26/08/2020 18:20

Hi congrats on all your pregnancies 💓 i hope you dont mind me all posting also sorry for the doom and gloom

I am currently 8 weeks and due in April also . I have woke up today to brown spotting when wiping and crampimg its lasted most the day . Morning sickness and tender breasts has also gone . I had a missed misscarriage in april so I'm a quite worried and stressed has anyone experienced this and had a positive outcome . I had a scan at 6 weeks and baby had heart beat I have a scan on Friday so trying not to panic untill then .

ARIO · 26/08/2020 18:30

@kaityx4 sorry to hear about your previous missed MC, it's not surprising you're worried. Good you've got a scan coming up to help reassure you. Also, just wanted to say that I had bleeding fairly frequently in the first 8 weeks with my first who is not a healthy 2 year old. I was told its common whilst things are changing up there and brown blood is old blood. If red and a vast quantity then worth calling midwife, otherwise Its quite common.

Kaityx4 · 26/08/2020 18:35

@ARIO thankyou so much thats reassured me i will try and remain positive and keep fingers crossed 🤞.

ARIO · 26/08/2020 18:40

Oops that was obvs meant to say *now a healthy 2 year old!!
