@CurlyMummy1912 can you have some metal put into your ring to have it repaired? i ve not been able wear mine for 3 months so hoping it ll fit soon post baby.

DressingGown87 · 15/09/2020 20:38

@FirstSurprise001 aww no that rubbish! Hopefully they change it, especially as you live quite a distance away. Looks like every trust had interpreted the national guidance differently.

I might order some of that tea (thanks for the link) I thought you had to drink it and I hate tea, hopefully make my induction quicker. I’m not a fan of spicy food or pineapple either! I did drive down a bumpy track today, and thought oh god don’t start my labour! I’ve no signal and I’m alone in the middle of nowhere measuring a redundant building.

@roarfeckingroarr that’s amazing news about your opportunities, I know that’s something you worried about early on. I’m having 11 I think, but have said I might be able to WFH a couple of hours a week if needs be sooner. But will still have my own business to run. That will be nice to see all your colleagues and have a send off. A child at her DDs school has tested positive for COvid, and her DD is showing symptoms. 🙈

@CurlyMummy1912 only in hot weather my ankles seem to swell! Have you try elevating and cold water? Is it really hot where you are at the minute? Hopefully you get the ring fixed

CurlyMummy1912 · 15/09/2020 22:44

The ring can easily be fixed but I'll wait until things have settled down post partum to get it resized.

Last time I had really big swelling in hot weather. I wish autumn would settle in and cool me down! 🤣

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 16/09/2020 07:25

No swelling but my feet have grown wider. They did with my first so hopefully go back down to their normal size again!

I was actually thinking about getting some slip ons for when the weather cools off as currently I live in sliders or supergas and neither are suitable for rain or cold!

Flora20 · 16/09/2020 08:28

@roarfeckingroarr Glad your work is being supportive! You're so close to term now, exciting! Are you feeling prepared?

@DressingGown87 You've just reminded me that when my sister was overdue with her second she had my mum drive her round the moor roads (very bumpy, lots of cattle grids, potholes etc) for hours at a time.... It did nothing but was entertaining!

@CurlyMummy1912 No swelling but the heat yesterday made me feel like crap, I'm usually out in the sunshine at every opportunity but it was horrible yesterday! Back to overcast and a bit drizzly today so I'm feeling more human 😂

60sPony · 16/09/2020 10:21
@1990shopefulftm I bought the capsules off amazon in the end as they seemed to have the highest concentration of the actual tea. £5 for 60! It says to take 2 a day from 34-37 weeks and then 4 a day from there on. Not sure if I’m being naive or extra hopeful but all the reviews are excellent. FTM’s saying that their labour was only a few hours, not a lot of bleeding afterwards, no tearing etc.
I would just be sceptical of reviews that claim so much. It’s great that it might help but lochia (bleeding) is a natural process that all women go through after birth and tearing is more to do with baby’s position when it comes out.

1990shopefulftm · 16/09/2020 13:52

Had my 34 week appointment and the midwife said i m carrying mostly at the front which makes me feel like it's not just me feeling big. my GP is really organised so had my flu vaccine straight after with no appointment hopefully my arm won't be as uncomfortable as it normally is otherwise sleeping on my side will be more challenging than usual.

roarfeckingroarr · 16/09/2020 16:49

@1990shopefulftm oh you have to push it up, Vindaloo minimum . Do you want the baby out or not? Also yeah leave the clary alone if you might be allergic!!

On that note, I'm convinced there's a causal relationship between people having a huge curry to try to kick start labour and the common phenomenon of your body have a large 'clear out' just before labour starts. Likewise eating dates to soften cervix.

Also totally had to read back to see what "ring" you were suggesting @CurlyMummy1912 had metal inserted into 😬 .

@DressingGown87 I know i was so worried! And now I feel great about it, which has made me feel happier and more ready for baby and even more positive about the whole baby thing in general. Just ready to finish soon and regretting working until 38+5. What a pain about your BP - fingers crossed they're out and fine before you need them. When's your DD again?

Mc3209 · 16/09/2020 16:55

Argh, yesterday I managed to walk into the door bump first. It was partially open, and I clumsily misjudged how far my bump is sticking out and walked right into the door when it was sideways (if you see what I mean). And the worst part is, baby was sticking out his head and the spiky bit on the door between the handles hit right into that area. He is moving fine, there is no pain, but I feel oh so guilty I hit my baby's head 😣

1990shopefulftm · 16/09/2020 16:56

@roarfeckingroarr would it still work I wonder if it's a vindaloo with a lot of naan and chutney to help me eat it. I suppose the digestive system is closely linked to uterus muscles.

roarfeckingroarr · 16/09/2020 16:58

@Mc3209 first time of many my dear. Hope it doesn't hurt and you're not too worried.

@1990shopefulftm naan and chutney allowed - but has to be a phal!

1990shopefulftm · 16/09/2020 17:16

@Mc3209 accidents happen, I had a box of cereal fall out of the cupboard and leave a mark on my bump for a little bit, they're surrounded by fluid so don't feel guilty :)

Flora20 · 16/09/2020 18:39

@Mc3209 I keep bumping into things at the moment, must have had another growth spurt so am misjudging where my bump begins! I feel guilty every time but they're very well protected, you won't have hurt anything 🙂

@1990shopefulftm I wouldn't push yourself to eat anything you're not going to enjoy, it's not going to trigger anything that wouldn't be about to happen anyway! People recommend it in the same way that they used to recommend castor oil - something to give you diarrhoea basically! Which people used to think might trigger labour, because some people have a 'clear out' before birth - but one doesn't automatically lead to the other 😁 Personally I'd rather not risk having the runs then going into labour if I could help it!

1990shopefulftm · 16/09/2020 19:28

@Flora20 definitely will not be going near castor oil.

Flora20 · 16/09/2020 19:30

@1990shopefulftm Didn't think you would 😂 Although for me it's probably as palatable as a vindaloo - I can't take anything more spicy then a korma! X

GhostWorld · 17/09/2020 07:45

In one of the online antenatal classes we watched the midwife said (lighthearted) please don't eat a curry if you're not normally a curry/spicy person, the last thing you want when you're in labour is a bad belly and also diarrhea is hard to clean up! I'm going to get some of those raspberry capsules (thanks for the link @FirstSurprise001 ) but I don't think I'll try the curry, I'm such a wimp a tikka masala is sometimes too hot for me!

Will this thread carry on somewhere else once the babies arrive? It will be nice when the updates become I gave birth last night etc!! I had a dream that I woke up and was giving birth so my DP had to call an ambulance and I gave birth then, then I facetimed my mum to introduce her to him completely out of the blue!

1990shopefulftm · 17/09/2020 10:51

@GhostWorld yes of course we'll have to carry the thread on :) i haven't even thought about how we'd be introducing people to baby yet, as things currently stand we aren't allowed anyone round to our house.

roarfeckingroarr · 17/09/2020 13:34

@GhostWorld that's a very good point. I'm not sure a spicy curry the night before a water birth would be wise 🤢. I'm going for one tonight instead. 36+4 should still be safe!

SamK93 · 18/09/2020 06:58

When are everybody's due dates again? I think I'm one of the very few that are actually right at the end of October! I'm 34 weeks today and due on the 30th.

Sls668 · 18/09/2020 07:18

@SamK93 snap! I’m your due date twin, sometimes when I read on here that people are 36 weeks it shocks me as that seems so far along!!

WaveStreet · 18/09/2020 08:27

@SamK93 I'm a late one with you, 29th. I'm expecting him to be a November baby!

Mc3209 · 18/09/2020 08:28

I am due on 31st 😬

DressingGown87 · 18/09/2020 08:35

@Flora20 I bet that was entertaining for your mum 😂 I remember my (then) SIL, we was watching my nieces first nativity at pre school. They said something along the lines of “here is baby Jesus” and she grabbed my arm and said sh*t my waters have just gone! I’m with you on the spice, can’t even have mild. But would love a nandos medium after all this spice talk.

@Mc3209 Aww I’m sure they are well cushioned in there. I keep forgetting my bump is there, and bashing it 🙈

@1990shopefulftm Glad your appointment went well. Did you manage to discuss your BP? Hope the arm was ok.

@GhostWorld yea it would be great to see how we all get on.

I’m due on the 20th so I’m currently 35+3 but booked in for my sweep on the 8th and induction on the 13th (unless they change it) my original date has been and gone!! It’s so close!!

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 18/09/2020 08:46

@DressingGown87 the midwife got me to book a double appointment to go through it at 36 weeks but she confirmed the changes to the restrictions with me which was my main concern. My arms almost back to normal, not sure if it's because I m dealing with pregnancy symptoms but it's the best I ve ever felt after a flu jab.

I m due on the 26th, no one seems to have been born on their due dates in my family so expecting for him to be born a bit closer to November.

LadyB90 · 18/09/2020 08:59

I'm due on the 27th. So excited to see everyone's birth announcements as they come around. It's so close for us all now!
