@1990shopefulftm I just had a notification from their Facebook when I woke up. It is good news, hope it stays that way and that helps your anxiety a little bit. I just wish they would let me have 1 other named person. As my friend and birthing partner works, has her own DC, and doesn’t get paternity. So I think my visiting will be still restricted.

To everyone doing clearouts and organising, hats off to you! 35 weeks here and absolutely shattered.

@roarfeckingroarr My mat leave starts at 38 weeks but I'm contemplating taking some annual leave to be off sooner. I'm struggling to focus or care anymore!

@DressingGown87 thanks for bringing that change in guidance up! I've checked my local hospital and it's been updated, only allowed one birthing partner and visiting hours are 9-9. Better than before I guess! Could you ask if they'll let you add a second named visitor due to your circumstances? Hope they make some common sense allowances Smile

1990shopefulftm · 15/09/2020 08:46

@DressingGown87 makes me feel much better, cautiously optimistic but it should take a lot for them to change it back.

It's silly you can have two birth partners but then one visitor afterwards, they ll have both have been in the hospital anyway so the risks already there.

SamK93 · 15/09/2020 08:46

@DressingGown87 that's such good news! I hope it stays that way for you. I've had a look and can't find anything regarding changes to my trust unfortunately but we are under local lockdown at the moment.

@roarfeckingroarr thank you for your message, makes me feel better when someone actually understands my point of view because sometimes I think maybe it's just me overreacting. I have had a couple of talks with him. I'm just waiting to see if anything changes.

DressingGown87 · 15/09/2020 09:04

@KitKatKit I know they are slightly tweaking things (slowly) at least. Hope your managing to sleep a little better. I’m hoping they may let one other in, as this wouldn’t be at the same time / day. Just days my friend is working and has her DC.

@1990shopefulftm I think they would be stupid to take it all back. So fingers crossed.

@SamK93 we are also in local lockdown, but I think they’ve had to make changes according to National guidance from the comments, so fingers crossed for your trust too. Hope the talks work with your DP, chin up!

FirstSurprise001 · 15/09/2020 09:18

@DressingGown87 I think it’s slightly different per trust. Mine is saying that partners can only come in from 4cm still. Visiting time has been increased from 1 hour to 3 hours so if you’re induced they can only stay for those 3 hours and then be sent away again and you can only have 2 birthing partners if it’s signed off by the labour ward on the day. (Helpful)

I wish they’d just make their minds up across the board!

1990shopefulftm · 15/09/2020 09:23

@FirstSurprise001 that's ridiculous, so they're saying 2 people to go to the hospital with you and then you just have to decide there and then which one stays if the ward is a bit full.

FirstSurprise001 · 15/09/2020 09:29

@1990shopefulftm pretty much! So I’m guessing I’d go in on my own, check if I’m 4cm then be moved on to the labour ward, then my partner can come up and only then if I want someone else I have to ask if there’s enough room on the ward for that to be okay. I’m tempted to just stick with DP as otherwise my mum/sister would be hanging around no certainty! To be honest the induction part is worrying me more - I’ve just read it again and because they obviously have set visiting hours, if I was induced at 12pm visiting hours finish at 1pm so he could only stay an hour or not come at 12 and wait until 4pm to get the full 3 hours with me 🙄

1990shopefulftm · 15/09/2020 09:45

@FirstSurprise001 Perhaps sticking with just your DP would work out better, is the hospital close enough that you could call your mum/sister if it turned out they would allow them there?
Can you look into what your trusts induction process is? mine lets you do at home inductions in certain situations, not sure if it's the same with the covid situation though.

FirstSurprise001 · 15/09/2020 10:01

@1990shopefulftm the hospital is about an hour away so not the quickest to get to. Plus I’m hoping with this raspberry leaf tea I’ll be in and out within 3/4 hours 😆😂

That’s a good point, I’ll have to have a look into it! Would be better if I could do it at home! Would hate the idea of being in pain on my own..

1990shopefulftm · 15/09/2020 10:19

@FirstSurprise001 Ah I see, so not a journey they can do quickly. how much tea are you drinking? i've ordered some but nothing seems to have a set answer of how much of it to have to start with.

roarfeckingroarr · 15/09/2020 10:21

@DressingGown87 I've booked for 10 months off and my director has been amazingly supportive recently, making it clear I'm still in mind for promotion and my exact job will be mine if I want it on return but if I want something a bit different there will he other options too - or progression. I did one day in the office last week which was a bit of a waste of time because it's so much more productive at home, but I'm going in next Friday for a send off. That's great news on the guidance. Why is your BP isolating?! Hope they're alright!

@KitKatKit I'm starting my handover tomorrow! Working up until Friday 2 October and I enjoy it, but I have a feeling baby might appear by then so getting it out the way. Annual leave is a good idea; I would love to but my cover won't be here until October.

@SamK93 it's such a hard time to have an unsupportive partner. He needs a serious kick up the arse by the sounds of things. Does he have anyone he looks up to - his parents / friends - that you could have a word with? Ideally he needs a kick now before baby is here and you're doing everything for them too. I'll come round and sort him out if you like Grin

FirstSurprise001 · 15/09/2020 10:46

@1990shopefulftm I bought the capsules off amazon in the end as they seemed to have the highest concentration of the actual tea. £5 for 60! It says to take 2 a day from 34-37 weeks and then 4 a day from there on. Not sure if I’m being naive or extra hopeful but all the reviews are excellent. FTM’s saying that their labour was only a few hours, not a lot of bleeding afterwards, no tearing etc.

1990shopefulftm · 15/09/2020 10:57

@FirstSurprise001 ah i didn't think to look for capsules, there's no harm in trying for sure. Planning to order a hot curry for our wedding anniversary as I happen to be 37 weeks then, win win if it helps labour starts.

FirstSurprise001 · 15/09/2020 11:02

@1990shopefulftm definitely win win! I’m a massive baby when it comes to hot curries 😂 guess I’ll be bouncing on a ball and drinking pineapple juice instead!

roarfeckingroarr · 15/09/2020 11:59

@1990shopefulftm I've heard you have to go a full level of spice higher than your usual spicy curry!

1990shopefulftm · 15/09/2020 12:36

@FirstSurprise001 oh i thought it was eating the middle of the pineapple? would happily drink a lot of juice if that works. could you get a korma maybe?

@roarfeckingroarr that's a lot more spice, i'd normally get something medium, don't think i could handle a vindaloo or anything like that.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 15/09/2020 13:47

I've just added the raspberry capsules to my amazon basket! I'll try anything to help! Has anyone considered clary sage too? Apparently that can help bring things along.

1990shopefulftm · 15/09/2020 14:46

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I've heard some people find clary sage really helpful, i m not keen on trying it because I'm allergic to lavender so i dont' want to be finding out that i've got the same problem with other essential oils during labour.

Deut28 · 15/09/2020 15:04

So good that some Trusts have started responding to the national guidance and relaxing restrictions on birth partners. Mine hasn't yet, but I've emailed them and my local MP to push. They're not moving as quickly as I'd like given the clock is ticking in third trimester!

If your Trust still hasn't changed either, Birth Rights has a template letter you can use to email the Trust and ask them to:

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 15/09/2020 15:44

Yes, I follow pregnant then screwed on Instagram who has been doing a lot of leg work on this

CurlyMummy1912 · 15/09/2020 19:02

Anyone else starting to get swollen feet and hands? (I know the pre-eclampsia risk and will seek help if it gets bad).

FirstSurprise001 · 15/09/2020 19:51

@CurlyMummy1912 me! My feet by the end of the day look awful 😭

CurlyMummy1912 · 15/09/2020 19:56

I put my normal loafers on this morning which are normally loose on me and they were quite tight! My flip flops have started to make marks on me and I had to have my ring cut off 🤦🏼‍♀️
