Does anyway else's baby get hiccups all the time? Mine seems to have them constantly at the moment!

1990shopefulftm · 04/09/2020 14:37

@LadyB90 he's had a couple of hiccups but he's more doing lots of rolling at the moment.

Found my first stretch marks this morning, never expected to get them on my lower back when most people mentioning it being on their bumps more than anything.

Flora20 · 04/09/2020 14:41

@LadyB90 Not noticed them but to be honest all his movements are so violent at the moment that they may be lost in all the punching, rolling, star jumping that seems to be going on! I'm feeling very bruised on the inside at the moment...

Mc3209 · 04/09/2020 16:31

@LadyB90 mine hiccups pretty much daily. DH even managed to feel them 😬
Apparently all normal, baby might be hiccup-y once they are out too.

SamK93 · 04/09/2020 19:16

@LadyB90 mine has them quite frequently too I usually notice them in the evenings

I had my 32 week appointment today with the midwife and I asked her why on my 20 week scan I was told I had a posterior placenta and then when I had a private 4D scan last week she mentioned my placenta was anterior. She said it can move as the uterus grows. She just said it's nothing to worry about as long as it doesn't lay low, I had no idea that after it attaches it can move lol.

LadyB90 · 04/09/2020 20:03

Good to know there's other hiccupy babies too!

@Flora20 I know what you mean about feeling bruised! I felt like I was being poked by a pencil on the inside most of today! Guessing it's a bony elbow or something haha.

@SamK93 ah that's really interesting I had no idea that could happen either!

@1990shopefulftm it's so strange isn't it, I have none at all on my bump for recently they appeared on the top of my thighs and bum! Makes no sense to me when the bump is what seems to be doing all the stretching!

SamK93 · 04/09/2020 20:20

@1990shopefulftm stretch marks are strange, they say it's genetics but my mum had none at all anywhere. When I was pregnant with my first I got them all over my bum 😩

Just a quick one does anyone find it really uncomfortable when the midwife checks baby's position? I had a different midwife today than usual and he was moving at the same time and I was having a braxton hicks contraction whilst she was checking his position, it was really uncomfortable and a bit painful the way she did it.

1990shopefulftm · 04/09/2020 20:26

@LadyB90 I know I ve gained weight round my hips , I just didn't expect stretch marks there.
@SamK93 my mum has some but I don't think their in the place that I m getting them.

NewtothisFBK4921 · 06/09/2020 09:16

@LadyB90 I haven't posted for ages so was just catching up but YES! It hiccups all the time, since about 30 weeks (I'm 34 on Tuesday). I actually called the midwife yesterday just to check it's normal and they said it's totally normal so that's good.

Anyone else having low iron troubles? Mine dropped from 124 to 109 then after ferrous sulphate taking pills (and spatone too) it still dropped again to 107. I can't walk anywhere, even to end of street, without having to put my head down to stop me passing out. So frustrating not being able to do any exercise. Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar or managed to get their iron up? I really don't want it like this for the birth or when having to look after baby

Sls668 · 06/09/2020 10:33

@NewtothisFBK4921 iron is taking over my life at the moment! At 12ish weeks the midwife told me my iron level was at 13 so I had to take one iron tablet a day. At 28 weeks, they tested again and said it was still only at 12. The Doctor text(?!) and said to take two iron tablets a day. Then when I saw the midwife this week she said one would still be fine. It doesn’t help that I can’t even think about the standard ‘high iron’ foods without wanting to throw up everywhere!

60sPony · 06/09/2020 11:34

@NewtothisFBK4921 I’ve got low iron too (and did at this stage last pregnancy) are you blood group A or B by any chance?
I would say try ferrous fumarate rather than sulphate. I’ve found it so much better though it still comes with some of the err undesirable side effects so maybe buy a bottle of luctulose at the same time! Hope those suffering with low iron feel better soon.

NewtothisFBK4921 · 06/09/2020 13:27

@60sPony did you manage to get it up by birth or do they just leave you to give birth while anaemic? I'm confused what happens next, but surely not great to go into birth anaemic? I'm blood group O, does that make a difference?

SamK93 · 06/09/2020 13:58

@NewtothisFBK4921 I'm on iron too, one tablet three times a day for a few months now. I've always been anaemic though since I was a teenager, I got diagnosed with coeliac disease after I had my son nearly 5 years ago when trying to figure out why my iron was always so low. I was anaemic with both previous pregnancies too, I gave birth naturally with both but I definitely had heavier and longer post partum bleeds. Hoping you feel better soon I know exactly what it's like x

LadyB90 · 06/09/2020 14:01

@NewtothisFBK4921
Ah good to know you checked with midwife about the hiccups and she said it was normal! I won't worry then. I have low iron too, but it was only picked up at my 28 week bloods as the only other blood test I had was my booking in when I assume they were fine. I have a repeat blood test at my 34 week appointment so I guess I'll find out then if they've improved. I've been taking ferrous fumarate although not enjoying that as they make me feel sick haha. Trying to eat as iron rich food as much as I can but aside from that I'm not sure there's a lot we can do. I'm O blood group too and 33 weeks Tuesday so a week behind you 😊

60sPony · 06/09/2020 16:01

Yes I managed to get my levels up in time for the birth last time and hopeful to do the same this time 🤞 I certainly feel better in myself after a week or two taking them, I’m only taking one a day though - my stomach couldn’t handle three. Then last time post birth I switched to the Feroglobin gentle iron tablets which didn’t give my any side effects but aren’t strong enough if iron is low when pregnant.

I asked about blood type as my midwife said those with A/B blood types in her experience are much more likely to be anaemic but that doesn’t seem the case from this thread!

SamK93 · 06/09/2020 16:05

@60sPony my blood is A+ so maybe she has a point

1990shopefulftm · 06/09/2020 16:40

On the topic of blood types, do they find out what babies blood type is as part of the heel spot test or is it just something that you would only find out when they were older?

60sPony · 06/09/2020 18:12

If you are rhesus negative they test the baby as soon as it is born to see if baby and mum need an Anti-D injection (if baby isn’t also born rhesus negative). Otherwise I’m not sure, don’t think so...

1990shopefulftm · 06/09/2020 18:15

@60sPony I m definitely rhesus positive so I know anti d isn't necessary

60sPony · 06/09/2020 18:16

@1990shopefulftm if you are + then I don’t think the routinely test for blood types

CurlyMummy1912 · 06/09/2020 23:08

Hello everyone! Girl baking nicely here. She is constantly wriggling and kicking me! I jump out of my skin all the time. No hiccups which I had a lot with my son.

Is anyone else wondering how their baby is going to have any more room to grow? I feel stretched to capacity and I'm only 32 weeks!!

1990shopefulftm · 07/09/2020 08:42

@CurlyMummy1912 yes, I m 33 weeks now and when I look in the mirror I keep wondering how on earth bump can get any bigger.

Flora20 · 07/09/2020 09:25

@CurlyMummy1912 Yep! I never got this feeling with my first but now I'm constantly feeling like every inch of my bump is full, I'm short of breath just sitting still, and pretty much every movement from baby makes me jump because it's so strong and in weird places 😂

SamK93 · 07/09/2020 09:28

@DressingGown87 you haven't posted in a while, hope your doing okay x

CurlyMummy1912 · 07/09/2020 09:32

@Flora20 @1990shopefulftm it's not just me then!! When are you due? Xx
