@FirstSurprise001 I’ve asked this on the main pregnancy board now, just because I’m intrigued and want to see some cute outfits!

1990shopefulftm · 24/08/2020 16:45

@FirstSurprise001 ooh I hadn't thought about jaffa cakes I'll add them to the list, I hadn't thought about taking cereal so far my snack list was just flapjacks and crisps.

@Freddie1987 I think I might be more bothered about what he comes home in if we end up in the hospital for longer than I hope to, but I guess if they are allowing visitors I could get DH to grab something out of his wardrobe. I'm hoping that if I get to use the midwife unit then they'll agree on a quick discharge if it's safe to.

@sls668 are you using any kind of pillow at night. I have a koala baby pregnancy pillow and it's great for the hip / back pain

Sls668 · 24/08/2020 17:59

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt yes I have a huge one that does help, just this week has been a struggle. I don’t know if it’s because I’m really tiny so baby is putting a lot of pressure on me already

roarfeckingroarr · 24/08/2020 18:57

@KitKatKit well done getting so much done! I did the same last week (when I was also 32 weeks and on A/L ) then DP finished a few jobs on my general nesting list this weekend. I feel pretty ready to go!

@SamK93 how are you feeling this week lovely? Better, I hope.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt where is your back pain? I've found my yoga ball really helps, or lying flat for a bit. Can't find anything to defeat the rib pain though.

@FirstSurprise001 I don't know about first outfit but I'm very keen on hearing about snacks!! Jaffa cakes and jelly babies are a brilliant shout. I'm going to get some of those, some crackers, maybe a couple of sandwiches... not sure. I know I'll get hungry and want to send DP out to the amazing bagel shop opposite the hospital.

@Freddie1987 i bought draw divider fabric box things (technical term) and put them on the two shelves under the changing table, with a towel over to prevent dust over the next few weeks. We just don't have space for another chest of drawers for baby; the spare room is already struggling to be a spare room, office and baby-stuff-dumping-ground.

DressingGown87 · 24/08/2020 19:02

@KitKatKit sounds like you’ve had a productive day! Hope the sun came out.

I’ve packed mints, jelly babies and some crisps. Ribena and Capri Suns Don’t have a clue what else to take.

I’ve got a white sleep suit with a giraffe on from next saying I love my mummy. I love giraffes so that is the coming home outfit. I think.

Any tips on getting them to move. I’ve had one flutter all day. No kicks, pokes to the ribs or stomach wobbles (trying to get out). I’ve had a can of pop, led down, walked 4k, ice pops, chocolate bars, poked, bounced on my ball, and can’t get her to budge! Final straw is going to be poke her with the needle, and eat my tea.

@DressingGown87 have you tried something cold directly onto bump? I don’t know if it’s a ‘noooo you shouldn’t do that’ but whenever I rest a cold drink on mine he kicks it right off. Must get through somehow 😂 other than that, jumping jacks supposedly and then lie down!

FirstSurprise001 · 24/08/2020 19:08

@roarfeckingroarr a bagel sounds to die for 🙌🏻 We have a McDonald’s just round the corner from our hospital so whether it’s straight after birth or during labour DP needs to find me a double sausage McMuffin 😂

1990shopefulftm · 24/08/2020 19:13

@DressingGown87 could have be a coincidence but putting music on has gotten baby to move for me when they ve been quite in the past.

DressingGown87 · 24/08/2020 19:18

Needle to the foot hasn’t worked, not even a wiggle!! 😩 @FirstSurprise001 you’ve just made me want a McDonald’s! I’ve tried putting ice pops on my bump before. Will try some jumping jacks. @1990shopefulftm currently trying Spotify on my phone, which is balanced on my bump.

@DressingGown87 I had the movement malarky yesterday. Went in for monitoring yesterday (he started moving when they put CTG on....), and that was followed up by growth scan today (which was ok too). I'd say call in if still no movement.

And I also have that giraffe 'i love mommy' sleepsuit!

@FirstSurprise001 I just packed a sleepsuit with elephants on it (as well as a vest, hat, and a star wrap).

@KitKatKit hope you managed to get all the bits dry! I had that baby laundry marathon last week. It's quite satisfying getting it all sorted ☺️

LadyB90 · 24/08/2020 21:12

@DressingGown87
The music thing worked for me too so hope it gets baby moving for you too! Hopefully she'll wiggle around soon so you can go to bed feeling relaxed rather than worried!!

I also have the giraffe I love mummy sleepsuit 😂

Applesandlemons · 24/08/2020 21:13

@DressingGown87 I hope you get some movement soon! It’s so nerve wracking when they go quiet.

Freddie1987 · 24/08/2020 22:54

@DressingGown87 hope you've felt movement this evening, if not I'd definitely go get monitored tonight for peace of mind as if it's been over 12 hours I think it's worth having a midwife check you over. Could it be maybe that you were busy and up and about when they're normally moving lots? x

@roarfeckingroarr @krissy12 I've been using the drawer divider thingies (technical term too 😆) and it still smells! Maybe I'm being overly sensitive! Will try airing them out for a bit. I think I mainly just want that lovely soft, fresh washing smell to stay...

DressingGown87 · 24/08/2020 23:49

Thank you! I’ve been in and heart rate was fine but only a slight movement on the monitor (which I didn’t feel) she has nestled right at the bottom. Scan tomorrow to check my blood (again) but consultant came to see me, and said it is likely I will get reduced movements from 32weeks due to my placenta.

@Freddie1987 I got the drawer dividers too, and put tumble dryer sheets between to make them smell nicer.

@Mc3209 glad everything was ok on your scan. They do no how to test our patience.

That next sleepsuits seems popular. I got the “don’t wake me, I’ll wake you” one too. And some cute hats from next.

Came across this headline this morning 🤔

Late October Babies 2020 - Thread 5
Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 25/08/2020 09:06

@roarfeckingroarr it's all lower back / where my back dimples are.

1990shopefulftm · 25/08/2020 09:14

@SamK93 I found other articles and the daily mail has taken it quite a bit out of context as it's an observational study then there's nothing to say the pregnant people in the studies weren't doing anything else that could have negatively affected their babies are none of the variables are controlled.

I had to give up proper caffeinated for health reasons so I only have a few cups of decaf coffee anyway myself but if the NHS isn't changing its guidance off of this research then I don't see a reason to worry :)

Freddie1987 · 25/08/2020 09:25

@DressingGown87 that's great, glad you got reassurance!! And tumble dryer sheets, genius idea thanks 🤩

@1990shopefulftm agree with everything you've said plus Daily Mail will jump on a scaremongering headline. I think the only time you need to maybe be extra cautious is during the first trimester.

1990shopefulftm · 25/08/2020 09:29

@Freddie1987 yes unfortunately they like to make money off of fear rather than proper journalism.

1990shopefulftm · 25/08/2020 11:35

Does anyone know which appointment they bring up how you'll feed baby with you? I've had different midwifes for every appointment and have all seemed lovely, I just want to be prepared incase one of them doesn't respect my decision to go with formula feeding.

KitKatKit · 25/08/2020 11:40

@DressingGown87 Glad all was okay! Hope you're able to take it easy over the next few weeks.

@Mc3209 you know, it chucked it down with rain as soon as I had made a wish for sunshine Grin Everything is washed so I think I'll pack my bag this evening once I'm done with work.

@roarfeckingroarr It must have been that 32 week nesting kicking in for us! How are you feeling? I know you're a few weeks ahead of some here, so I feel like you're the oracle of what's to come next Wink

@krissy12 don't stress lovely, your furniture will be here soon and you'll be on a washing spree!

@SamK93 how are you feeling after the last few days? Hope you're looking after yourself- your mental health is more important than anything else.

@1990shopefulftm I agree, the Daily Mail love a sensationalist headline! I went off tea very early on in pregnancy (not a huge tea drinker anyway), and have been off hot drinks throughout too. Until Sunday morning when I had a McDonald's breakfast after literally years with a hot chocolate! It was sooo sweet and artificial but man it hit the spot Grin

1990shopefulftm · 25/08/2020 12:14

@KitKatKit I still enjoy the taste of tea but my local supermarket has stopped stocking the decaf one I like so I've been going without it. Mcdonalds hot chocolate is so sweet but great with their breakfast options.

krissy12 · 25/08/2020 12:28

@1990shopefulftm my midwife brought it up at my 28 week appointment. she asked if I was planning to BF and when I said I wasnt sure she went on for what felt like ages on the benefits of BF and didnt discuss anything about bottle feeding. I felt a bit pressured into agreeing with her even know I still haven't fully decided what I want to do but it's your baby your decision
